I called at 1:30 pm to make a 6 pm reservation and was told you have to call 24 hours in advance, after talking to the manager and telling her who I am she booked reservation. I had the ribeye with onion rings, wife had Teriyaki wings, one friend had meat loaf with a baked potatoe which the both shared. The food was excellent as always. I finally made my way to The Depot in Greenfield to give it a try. I stopped one day for lunch and then stopped the next day for just a cocktail. Before I finished this review I also took my mom over there for a meal. I have seen some reviews that have complained of the service in the restaurant but I have yet to experience that. They have been pretty quick in both waiting on us and bringing us the food. So far I have tried the Bloody Mary cocktail, green apple candy martini, The Godfather, and the Island Breeze. The cocktails are pretty good and I'm sure I will try them all eventually. On one stop I did get the onion ring tower it is an appetizer. I loved that the onion rings were crispy and I did not care too much for the ranch on the side as it didn't have much flavor and was a little runny. If I get it again I would recommend getting barbecue sauce on the side or just ketchup. When I had a meal with my mom I had the Potky Pig grilled cheese and onion rings. This is definitely a big sandwich so be hungry if you order this triple decker or plan on taking some home. My mom had the grilled tenderloin and loved it. We will stop here to eat again! read more

A group of ladies and i went last Thursday. I tried to call 3 different times to let them know we were coming, and never got answer. However they were able to accommodate us. The portions are large, i ended up taking half my mushroom Swiss burger home. The fries are coated with something. that makes them very crunchy.2 ladies had the strawberry salad and more than half home. I enjoyed my meal, but not really as good as I had heard. We stopped at the depot on our way home from Indianapolis. Great joice. The food was outstanding. Ribs fell off the bone and I loved the coleslaw. My son tried the tenderloin and it was great. The service was top notch and the servings were so large. We did order a piece of their chocolate elevator cake. A one pound piece. So large and we took our home. One of the best chocolate cakes I have had. Can't wait to go back. Great atmosphere. It will take us an hour to drive back but well worth it. read more

I have never been more impressed with a restaurant that I found through Yelp reviews than I was on this day. We were on our way home from Chicago to West Virginia and starving but didn't feel like more "fast food" so decided to stop here. Everything was incredible. Our waitress, Rachel, was so sweet and checked up on us many times. I had the smash burger and fries and it was incredible. We tried tater kegs and pretzel sticks for appetizers. My daughter loved the chicken blt wrap and my son, who loves the basics, said it was his favorite chicken tenders we had ordered on vacation. The Depot is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants to visit in Greenfield. The space is beautiful, the staff is very friendly, and the dishes are well executed. There was a little bit of a wait the last time I visited for lunch, but that's no surprise because it's a great spot. I ended up trying their Taco Salad and thought it was delicious. Met a friend from Greenfield so we chose this location. There may be other locations to eat in Greenfield, but it's my favorite there. One of the worst excuses for a place to eat. Three of us stopped to eat and two of us had our food brought out and nothing for the 3rd person. Eventually the waitress comes to tell us the kitchen ran out of stuff to make his hamburger, so something else had to be selected from the menu. In the meantime his margarita was never brought to him. My $10 chocolate martini was watered down. The 2 of us finished our dinner and he was still waiting to be served. This place is a joke with terrible table service, a pathetic kitchen, and overpriced watered down drinks. We paid $87 for all this crap service. I wrote on the receipt worst restaurant i ever went to and will never go back. If you decide to try this dump, bring something to snack on in case you never get what you ordered. The Depot? More likely to have a nice meal at The Home Depot! I wanted to like this place, but i've been continually disappointed. My experience: Mediocre food. Poor service. You can tell when the staff is stressed when it's not even that busy, and talks badly about the ownership and training. They've always seemed confused here, and the transition from hostess to to table service is just bad. When I visit friends in Greenfield, we're always wondering what to eat in a city with very little choice in hot food. I've see people have positive experiences here, but after multiple visits, i'm not impressed. I might try again in a couple years IF I start to see reports that they've cleaned up their act. Do I give it the 1 star rating that my heart tells me to give The Depot in Greenfield? Or do I give it 2? Yelp states that 3/5 is 'OK', 2 is 'Could've been better', and 1 is 'Not Good'. Well, The Depot is not good. It deserves 1. I will give it 1.5 and round up to 2. I can't eat here alone. I can't eat here in a pair, or trio, or in a medium sized group. To summarize: The Depot, they say, is quite grand, But my meals there? A bit of a strand. Food so-so, service a mess, Stress in the air, you can guess. Greenfield's choices, a limited view, But The Depot's charms? Sadly, few. Some sing its praises, I hear their tune, But my visits? A lackluster moon. Convenient mid-point when we want to do lunch with my husband's parents so we've been a few times, most recently as a belated celebration of my birthday. The smash burgers are great and, as a family, we are chipping away at trying all the variations. The times we've opted for dessert have been great. The vibe is cozy with the prior mill elements and seeing into the shaft. Service can slow down on busier afternoons but hard to say if it's a staffing shortage or poor section assignments at fault. I would have given 5 stars when The Depot first opened, but unfortunately the food hasn't been as good within the last year. I would stick with a burger, although there seems to be inconsistency and it's never the same. If you're a vegetarian I don't recommend the veggie flatbread! Fish and chips is a hearty portion and my parents love it. The kids meals are large portions and come with a cookie which is a nice touch. The restaurant has always been clean and staff are friendly, we've never had issues with service as others have mentioned. Clean place, friendly... poor quality of food and far too expensive for a plain burger with little flavor ( poor quality of beef imo) . Carry out should always serve condiment pkts. So happy to see this 5 month old restaurant thriving in downtown Greenfield! Arrived at noon on Saturday so not surprised we had to wait 15 minutes for a table. The only problem was that our waitress was having an "off day" (she told this us herself) as she walked by 3 different times over 15 minutes to apologize and say she'd be right back. In fact she didn't end up taking our order or delivering our food at all (thank goodness for food runners)! Apart from our server we really enjoyed our lunch! My favorite place to eat in Greenfield. Most importantly: the food is great. The staff is very friendly if not sometimes overwhelmed. My hack for great service: go during the week or early on the weekends! You can tell they get a bit short staffed during peak weekend hours and thats when there's always a good wait - literally my only complaints! Must try menu items: the breaded tenderloin (hand breaded, huge, + crispy), the filet, any of the smash burgers, the flatbreads, the crusted chicken Alfredo (same breading as the tenderloin - holy cow!), their signature bourbon drinks or local beers on tap, and the tater kegs for an appetizer (thank me later)! read more

It has been a minute since we have been back as the previous times just didn't show improvement on the food quality. Welllll, that changed last night! The menu has been updated and the improvement, chefs kiss! We were a party of four - one had The veggie flat bread , which was amazing. The grilled pork chop dinner was said to flavorful and juicy. The breaded tenderloin was delicious and was seasoned very well. The 3 tacos, steak and chicken were stated to be sooooo good. As usual our waitress was awesome!! She didn't miss a beat and worked very hard running up and down the stairs to take care of us and our beverages. Impressed with the improvement and love it!!! We have become regulars at the Depot. It advertises as the best family restaurant in Greenfield and it definitely does not disappoint! We had our meal in the outdoor seating with our two dogs and it was delightful. I ordered the meatloaf and it was a healthy potion of comfort food that hit the spot. I called to make a reservation. I was told (very matter of fact) that they don't accept same day reservations. Then silence... so I said, ok so we'll just come in and get on the waitlist. Then she says that they all seating on Fridays is reservation only. (Silence again) We were looking forward to trying this place, but they frustrate their customers before even walking in. Was super excited about trying this place. Heard lots of good things. The history of this place is very cool- it's an old grain elevator from the early 1900's and they did an amazing job keeping so much history in place. Great touches that are inside, upstairs and outside. We had a nice dinner starting with Tater Tots- different and really yummy! A few attention to detail items that we were accommodated for. So I finally went back for dinner and took the hubby this time to get his opinion. So to be brutally honest, the only good thing about dinner was the first round of drinks, the Fillet and the atmosphere. The bar drinks are way inconsistent but I'm pretty sure the second bartender was new. The food all seems purchased at the store and thrown together and not one thing seemed made from scratch. The salsa even tasted just like jar salsa you get in the chip isle. The steak was the only thing and I'm confident this was our last chance for The Depot to redeem itself. The service was even poor. I just don't get what all they hype is other than the location and atmosphere. The owner needs to hire a real chef and revamp the entire menu so we can have the restaurant this town deserves and this gorgeous old building deserves. Beautiful setting inside and out-- overlooks the Depot Park. Enjoyed one of the best tenderloins I've ever had.

I will say it is the new place so it is a location to visit. I liked the food and that they have a good variety of beer to try. I did not liked that one time we got there around 9-9:30PM and we could not ordered food even when they close at 11PM. I believe they said we can only ordered fried food but that is like one item only. We decided to visit The Depot on the recommendation of a friend who had been there a few times. We were not at all disappointed. We both had the filet mignon, it was cooked to perfection, seasoned wonderfully, also tender and juicy, you could cut it with a fork. The tater kegs were wonderful! It was my birthday so we ordered the Elevator chocolate cake, and it was phenomenal! Our service was good too. IF I had a complaint, I'd have to say it's a little noisy. The side salad with just lettuce, cucumber, and a couple cherry tomatoes. I feel like the price was GOOD for the amount of food that you get; however, I also feel like they could've put some cheese on the salad for the price that you pay as well, but none of that will keep me from going back because everything else was so good.
