We are looking for a new bakery after the closure of Beaverton Bakery, but unfortunately will have to keep on looking after our first and last experience here. The cake wasn't too bad actually, an upgrade from supermarkets like Fred Meyer, but nothing to write home about. The parking was very limited, only about 3 or 4 spots and no street parking nearby. The worst part was the woman serving us at the counter. She was rude and behaved like we were bothering her during the entire purchase process. I interacted with friendlier staff at DMV before. I have used The Dessert Tray several times for various parties. However, I recently ordered three types of cupcakes for my daughter's birthday party and I was so disappointed! Each type of cupcake was sooooo dry! As if they had been baked many days before. Even my guests mentioned how the cupcakes were dry and not very good. I did my reasearch and based on the great reviews this place had I was excited to order my gender reveal cake here. As soon as I arrived, no one greeted me, but I took a look around at the model cakes they had there. A young man helped me out and asked if he could help. He was so sweet and helped me choose the size of ny cake and the filling, BUT as soon as he was doing the cake total he went to check the final price with two women working in the kitchen, they just had a disgusted face as if they did NOT want to be there. I ordered my cake 1 week in advance and picked it up and took it to my gender reveal party. It looked gorgeous on the outside but once I cut it into slices and put it on the latest it crumbled. It was so embarrassing seeing all the leftover cake people left in the plate I served them. I ordered enough cake for everyone and I did not receive any compliments on a good cake the entire night. Worst experience. After ordering the cake and paid advance they said to send the design which I did. I also went in the store to discuss the design and the price, for which they said they don't have anyone to talk to me for my order and that they will only respond via email when they have time. After which they said they cannot make the cake topper as not enough time (6 days in advance) still I said will order the cake topper from Amazon and without that please make it, for which they increased the price from $135(which they originally quoted with design) to $165 (without major decorations). I started conversing with this bakery about 6 weeks prior to my post wedding luau. I got married in Hawaii a few months back and was celebrating with family in Portland and wanted a hawaiian themed cake. I contacted multiple places about my top tier vegan request and the rest "regular", also I was specific about wanting a particular design. The Dessert Tray didn't hesitate and emailed me right away seeming very enthused and happy to accommodate my request. I appreciated how easy they made it seem even though I'm sure it was not. I honestly would have paid a high dollar to get the cake of my dreams and I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable it was AND that they delivered it for free! To top it all off, not only did it look good but it tasted Incredible. Everyone complicated the flavor and how moist it was, I was sure to tell everyone who the bakery was. The Dessert Tray is amazing! I found a cake on Pinterest I wanted for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah and they re-created it! It was just what I wanted and my daughter was so excited. I only wish I had taken a picture of it. I only have the professional ones. It was a Broadway themed cake and they did a three tier cake with the NY skyline. I then found fun musical mini posters that I stuck in it. I heard raves about how it tasted. I'm gluten free so I couldn't taste it, but everyone else said it was fabulous. If you were looking for a cookie that is as addictive is binge-watching Breaking Bad this is the place to eat cookies. Thick chewy well made cookies. If you have a love for butterscotch you should definitely try the butterscotch crunch. And the oatmeal raisin will literally melt in your mouth. I ordered two cakes for a birthday party and could not have been more disappointed. I ordered a smash white cake and a Boston cream. Both were equally bad. I picked up the two cakes 3 hours prior to the party and left them out prior to serving them. This was my son's first birthday. Everyone was ready for him to dig in and saw that he was having trouble. That is when I discovered the cake(s) were semi-frozen. Nobody at The Dessert Tray ever told me the cakes would be frozen! Not only that, but both cakes were DRY AND CRUMBLY! The cake is supposed to be the highlight of a birthday, The Dessert Tray really missed the mark here. Ordered a special cake for our work event. It was chocolate ganche with a raspberry jam filling. I was worried the raspberry would taste too "sweet" or over powering but it wasn't at all, in fact it was one of the best tasting cakes I've ever had. Almost every single person who ate it asked me where it came from. I asked for a "fall leaves" theme and they knocked it out of the park. I ordered two cakes from Dessert Tray for my wedding: a three tiered cake that served 60 in two flavors (gingerbread and banana) for the reception (cost $240), and a three tiered cheesecake that served 50 in two flavors (marionberry and caramel apple) for an after party at a different location (cost $225). I can't say enough about Robin's great service and the quality of the cakes. Both cakes were made exactly as requested and delivered correctly. Planning the cakes was great. My fiance was attached to the idea of a caramel apple cheesecake, which I am pretty sure he made up as no one in town makes it. I looked everywhere. When we went for our tasting for the regular cake, not only did Robin prepare the banana cake just for the tasting (it's special order), when we asked her about the possibility of a wedding size caramel apple cheesecake she said she would give it a try. She created the recipe just for us! And let me tell you, it was INCREDIBLE. In fact, when I went to pick up our samples, I saw a caramel apple cheesecake for sale in the bakery case :) We did a total of three tastings for the two cakes, and the second two they allowed us to just pick up the samples and take them home. Generous portions, and it was so nice to be able to eat them for dessert for two nights! So great! And all three tastings were free. Delivery was also free, and the price included fondant decorations. Everything we purchased went over great, customer service was awesome (especially Robin), and I will definitely buy more cakes there! read more

Please beware!! I ordered 50 monogrammed cookies from Dessert Tray for my daughter's bridal shower. The day before the shower I went to pick up the cookies and discovered there were only 24 cookies and the monogram was incorrect with the wrong letter. The owner was called and I was told that she would come in the next morning and correct the incorrect letter (which meant scrapping off a brown "S" from a blue frosted cookie and replacing it with a brown "J"), but she would not fill the rest of my order. This left me is a very difficult position since this was my special contribution to the shower. I call this horrible customer service. To make matters worse, I have not recieved a phone call from the owner offering any sort of apology. read more

I found this place on yelp based on the very positive reviews and I have to say i was not disappointed. I visited them and showed them my design I wanted and they matched it perfectly. I ordered the carrot cake with cream cheese filling and butter cream icing with fondant decoration and the quality and taste of the cake was superb! All my guests loved it and asked where it was from! The price is also fair in my opinion compared to other quotes I received. I ordered my sons first birthday cake from Dessert Tray as well as his "smash cake". The outside of the cake was decorated nicely however, the inside was a different story. As soon as all my guests bit into their cake, everyone's first comment was how "DRY" the cake was. My son couldnt even "smash" into the cake. I was absoutely dissapointed and so were our guests!! This cake was the poppyseed lemon raspberry. The cake was very dry, hard, and flavorless. What a dissapointment :( Considering the price, this cake should of been nothing but excellent.. I ordered a birthday cake from Dessert Tray and it would have been great except they didn't trim the cake. Without trimming the edges you end up with a dark crunchy outer layer that unfortunately lessens the overall quality. The buttercream was just OK, I did enjoy the part of the cake that was in the center, since it was still moist and the lemon curd was delicious. However, because of the lack of care in trimming I don't feel that the cake was a good value and am not sure I'd order from them again. read more

The customer service is great and the desserts are super special too! They are so creative! My favorite, if that's possible is the Neopolitan Cake because it's the bomb!! Or is it the German Chocolate Cake which is supreme..or the brownies, and the Lemon Bar! It's very tempting, but I do okay on self control. One dessert a day or 3 is not too bad! We ordered two dozen cupcakes for a children's birthday party. The cupcakes were beautiful- the decorations were so adorable. But they tasted awful. Most of the kids (including the birthday girl) didn't eat them, or scraped off the frosting, which I just chalked up to kids being fussy. I tried one after the party and I was so disappointed. Ahhh!! I so regretted listening to the positive reviews about this place. I thought I'd take a chance but the negative reviews were right. I ordered a birthday cake and it looked amazing. After blowing out the candles we couldn't eat it. It was dry and wet at the same time. Not moist it falls apart and its like slimy or wet one of the too. Its as if its been sitting in the fridge for a while after being baked. I ordered on a Sunday and picked up on a Thursday so I hope they didn't bake it early and let it sit in the fridge for 4 days. It was also too sweet that my guests apologized and left they couldn't eat anymore. Sadly I had to throw the whole thing in the trash and my son was heartbroken. I felt so bad for depending on dessert tray and they let me down worst feeling ever. I wish I didn't spend over $60 dollars on the cake then probably I wouldn't feel bad.
