The good - Stylish interior, well-appointed rooms, nice smelling toiletries, fun living room/lounge area, Henrietta's restaurant very nice. There's also a courtesy vehicle that will drop you off anywhere on the peninsula. The bad - Busy weekend, we had one type of room guaranteed that "wasn't" available, the millennials at the front desk didn't seem to be able to multitask, they had to escalate to a manager who miraculously was able to solve the problem The ugly - Sound insulation between rooms and in between rooms and halls is not very good, I was in a room near the elevator so lots of loud coming in and out all night long. The absolute worst - as a menaupausal female - is that they have the air-conditioning set to go no lower than 69°. So if you're going to be having hot flashes all night, or, if it's just a typical bloody hot day in Charleston, you are out of luck. The windows don't open. They'll bring a fan, but having what sounded like an aircraft propellor did not aid already disturbed sleep. read more

The Dewberry is awesome! I went for a work happy hour last night and was very impressed. Service was first class and the ambiance is gorgeous. Very sophisticated feel with mid century modern decor. Love the feel of this place! I had multiple old fashioned's. The brick of ice was embellished with their signature D and a cherry accessory. Delicious and classy. The apps we had were fulfilling and tasty. We had the French fries, cheese platter, olives and deviled eggs. Deviled eggs by far were the best along with cheese platter. At first I was annoyed that they closed the roof top 2 consecutive nights with out letting us know when we booked it, but their staff went over and above to make up for it with a $100 discount and a candle., Their concierge team was absolutely superb and found reservations for us at some great restaurants that are hard to get into. The Dewberry is a great hotel for tourists vacationing in Charleston. With a friendly staff and a southern charm touch, you are sure to feel welcomed and at home. The restaurant, Henrietta's, makes a delicious breakfast. During lunch and dinner you can get fresh baked cookies here on the dessert menu! Since they are baked to order so do not expect these to come out quickly, but you can expect an awesome, hot and gooey chocolate chip cookie. There are three bars in the restaurant, all are employed by great bartenders. My husband loved the cocktails he was served during our stay. While not listed on the bar menu, each bar also make some tasty mocktails! The rooftop bar offers a great view, but bundle up! It gets cold up there. I am so happy we chose to stay at The Dewberry! I recently stayed at the Dewberry hotel for a couple of days to celebrate my birthday in May and had an amazing experience!! I have to focus on the spa service because it was SO well executed and personalized that I felt like a celebrity! Shout out to the spa director Adriane Williams because she really knows how to take care of people!!! She personally delivered champagne to the room before our spa services and she *also* came by afterwards to make sure we were pleased with our services - She has a really warm disposition and we were blown away by her attention to detail!!! My sister (a director for another high end hotel) even noted that level of service is rare these days -- Thanks to everyone at the Dewberry for making my birthday SO CHOICE and especially to Adriane!!! Visited Charleston with my husband for our mini moon. We have stayed at the Vendue before so we wanted to try a different area. There was a great deal for the Dewberry for the week. When we arrived there was a nice note of congratulations with a bottle of sparkling wine. The room was nice... a bit small but the shower was super nice. Later in the night we realized there was spots of blood on the sheets.. no big deal.. someone probably had a cut on their finger while changing the bedding. We called the front desk to have them changed but they upgraded us to the most gorgeous suite and gave us free breakfast. The suite was so amazing ! We never wanted to leave. Huge windows, big leather couch in a big sitting area, the most comfortable king bed, and the bathroom was to die for. They don't have much food options in the hotel itself but there a Ton of places within walking distance. The gym is very small so I paid for one down the street. What an incredible 5 star experience! The staff at the Dewberry truly met our every need and beyond! Carly was amazing at the front desk and gladly drove us to the Battery in the hotel's Volvos. She has incredible food and drink recommendations! Rachael at the concierge desk was amazing with creating the perfect bike path for us and organizing our use of the hotel's bikes! Gaby & Chris were the absolute sweetest at the Citrus Club and downstairs in the living room. They sent us out with a bag of the delicious Carmel corn...what a treat! The valet staff was also so helpful and attentive to our every need. What can I say about this joint? It was our Anniversary and they made it unforgettable! There was a pretty much a "typhoon" hitting Charleston so we decided to spend the entire evening at the hotel. We started at the Citrus Club and had a few cocktails. Table was reserved for us and everyone knew our names and knew it was our Anniversary. Free glasses of champagne to start. We then had dinner at Henrietta's. Same treatment and free champagne as well. This place went out of their way to make our night extra special and we can't say enough about the service. I really liked all that the The Dewberry on Meeting Street in Charleston has to offer. I can remember when it was the Federal Building and it is amazing what they have done to renovate it in to a first class hotel that is something special and unique to Charleston. Everything here is very nice and has a very cool and relaxed vibe and atmosphere to it. Everything just fits together very nicely and belongs here. I am impressed with just about every aspect of this hotel from the wide open lobby space to the great rooms to the cool event space on the roof that is great for events. The staff here is very attentive and helpful and makes sure that every guest has an excellent experience. I enjoyed everything here and plan to be back again multiple times. read more

The deviled eggs and truffle fries earn a thumbs up, although this being said after a night of drinking lol. If you are worried this is to far from the market area, they have a free shuttle that will take you wherever you need to go! They don't pick up unfortunately, but that didn't bother us to much, as one ride down at the start of the day, and an Uber back at the end of the night was not a big deal. The valet parking is 36 dollars a day' - be ready for this charge. It's high, but the staff is great. The hotel is immaculate. The living room is bustling but always feels comfortable and inviting. The furniture is Rich and you won't be able to guess where they got it from. The aging on all the mirrors is intentional and a truly unique interior design feature. We googled how to do it, it's not easy. Kudos to the interior designer who had this trick up their sleeve. The staff at the bar is incredible, and wholly interested in your trip and stay there. This is so nice to feel welcomed in a place you have never been. The bar looks straight out of the 40s. The rooms carry over the mid century charm mixed with clean modern finishes. The sheets will blow your mind. They have a smell here, that they even use in the soap. It's an incredible detail that fills the air with a classy vintage smell. It's hard to describe, but you'll know what I mean when you stay here. This is a place that carries the details from the interior, through the service. It was the perfect home base while exploring the city and a truly grand experience. read more

This is now our favorite hotel in Charleston. It's an old bank that's been converted, and whoever designed the place has incredible taste. This is high end. Every night they include a fresh bucket of ice in your room. You can hang your shoes in a bag on the door and get a free shoe shine by morning. The restaurant is great. We had one meal that was late, and the manager made it right. If you go to the main bar, make sure to get some of the Carmel corn. So damn good. Only complaint is we've had a couple issues with billing, which we had to call and straighten out. We stayed here for my birthday weekend and it was exquisite. The room was gorgeous, the bathroom was divine, the bed was heavenly, and the customer service was amazing. Free coffee/tea in the morning? Yes please. Cute cocktail bar? Yes please. Free bike rentals? Yes please. House car that will take you anywhere you want to go in the downtown area? Yes please. As far as location goes, it's a short 10-15 minute walk to the thick of things. I personally enjoyed the distance, as I didn't want to step out of the front door and be overrun by throngs of people. On the way to dinner we decided to meet up with our friends to have a cocktail. The bar area was beautiful, spacious and a nice gathering place. My wife and I were early and decided to start out with a Bloody Mary. We sat outside because it was a wonderful day and enjoyed our drinks. They had just the right amount of zing! A little spicy and a good ratio of mixer. Our friends joined us outside and I ordered a gin and tonic. It wasn't the average gin and tonic you get at most places. We came to Charleston to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary for 3 days. The Dewberry did not disappoint. They acknowledged our anniversary the minute we arrived at registration. The concierge was so helpful she booked hard to get dinner reservations and helped us navigate what to do for dining and sightseeing. I've been staying at this hotel for almost a week now, everything has been great until tonight. We're staying here for the Fourth of July holiday. We booked a reservation at the rooftop citrus club For the 4th to have drinks, eat, and watch Fireworks.. As we were sitting at a table, I felt something across my foot, and my cousin got up and yelled there was a rat on my foot. We had a wonderful stay, however when we went to checkout we found fraudulent charges on our bill. The front desk staff was incredibly rude in handling the situation and could not explain why or how we were overcharged and implied we were being dishonest when we were not physically present at the hotel bar when these charges took place. We eventually settled it, but a couple weeks later I received a charge on my credit card for a random amount with no explanation. After emailing with them, they ere not able to explain the charge or provide an adequate explanation of why or how we were charged so they said they would refund it. 2 months later I am still waiting for an explanation or a refund so now am resorting to writing a review and disputing the charge through my credit card company. So bizarre and disappointing. read more

The music, dim lighting, and large brown leather chairs just make you feel like you are in a different time. It feels so sophisticated and elegant but also secretive at the same time. You know what really makes a great hotel? The staff. The staff at the Dewberry were phenomenal. Room product, amenities, and location are just icing on the cake for this hotel. It is so hard to really find great employees of this caliber. Valet, bellmen, front desk, banquets, and housekeeping were all on top of the game. Rooms- I love the mid century feel of this hotel. I think they did a great job making each room unique. It felt cozy, fresh and in the moment. The bathrooms were very well appointed. I had plenty of room to spread out and loved some of the finishes and touches. The rooms on the front of the hotel have a great view of Marion Square. The rooms on the back have a view of the Cooper River Bridge, IF you are on a high enough floor. We had two events during our stay at the Dewberry, and the banquet staff did a great job. All the food was excellent. I have some food allergies and they took care of me during both meals. I had alerted them for the luncheon as I was a hostess. The dinner I was an attendee, BUT they made note and took care of it without my asking at dinner. I'm impressed. We had a drink in the bar one night and I love the live music and craft cocktails. It was a fun and swanky atmosphere. I cannot wait to take another trip to Charleston and stay at the Dewberry. read more

My Fiance and I went here for a late night drink while visiting Charleston. It was like stepping through time as we walked into the hotel lobby. The DON'Tberry is more like it! I made our reservation online for 7 days for a 'Charleston Flat'. A few days later I called them to discuss the set up of our room. 3 hours later they called me and said, 'sorry we overbooked you (shades of United Airlines) and our computer made a mistake, so sorry! And that was that. We had to end up scrambling for another hotel for our visit. The insulting part is that if I HADN'T just happened to call them, we would have shown up and had NO ROOM AT ALL! Absolutely unprofessional, they have no idea what their online bookings are doing. Be warned. And on top of THAT they have the nerve to ASK ME FOR A REVIEW! Unbelievable. So here's my review. I found the Dewberry while searching for a place for my wife and I for a one year anniversary. I think we found a diamond in the rough! IT was the old tax building before it was renovated about 2008 BY MR.Dewberry himself. The employees all spoke highly of him and it's very refreshing to see the "little people" care so much about this place. Service is outstanding. The valet crew are so friendly and they offer free bike rentals and rides to anywhere on the peninsula in some sweet new Volvos. They have a rooftop bar coming soon and the rooms are just perfect. The restaurant hennriata was amazing for brunch and dinner. I know hotel restaurants have like a stigma against them but this was top class French inspired place. They have a modern/old school bar called the living room with is super nice to hangout it and relax. The concierge girl who's name escapes me but she had a tattoo in her wrist that says "with god" in Spanish so cool, she was so helpful and loved her job and is gonna go very far in the world with that attitude. Can't wait to return and see the rooftop they are putting. So great. Right across from king street and a ton of shopping. read more
