Wings were small, breaded and awful. The Reuben was a mess- the meat had no flavor, the bread was mushy, no hope there. I got a western burger and again, bread was mush and nothing tasted good. I'd also avoid using grubhub when ordering from here- there is a $7 delivery fee, and $27 worth of food turned in $45 after taxes, fees, and a driver tip. Maybe breakfast is good if you go in and sit down, but no one should be ordering anything from here. Never again. read more

We got the cheesecake pancakes, the Spanish omelette, and the healthy omelette. The portion sizes were beautifully large and the food delicious. The cheesecake pancakes were not as sweet as they sound which was a good thing as it wasn't overpowering. I had the healthy omelette which I got specifically because it has asparagus and other yummy veges in it. I usually never get anything with the word "healthy" in front of it but I am really glad I made this exception! I made a yelp account specifically to review what I experienced here today. I was driving from NY to visit my parents in PA, and wanted a bite for lunch. Google helped me find this place. And as fantastic as the food and my waitress were, I will never stop here again. The older woman waitress who works the bar area screamed across the restaurant to a customer as he was paying, and told him "next time sit in her section, she will wipe your pants the whole time." The gentleman didn't really react so this waitress said it again. There was another waitress who wasn't my waitress standing there, I'm assuming that's who was being discussed. The manager did not acknowledge this interaction or intervene. The crude disgusting language and many insinuations this statement could have meant, it is absurd. To embarrass both a customer and a fellow employee is in poor taste, and quite disgusting. The owners of this establishment should be embarrassed to employ someone who behaves like this, and for that, as good as the food was and my time was enjoyed until this point, I will never be returning here. read more

I was in town for a doctor appointment, and needed lunch. This diner was perfect. Exactly what a diner should be. I sat at the counter and got quick and efficient service. Excellent diner! It is good for breakfast, lunch or dinner at any time of the day when they are open. The staff is always so friendly and the dinner specials are very good. The dinner specials come with an entree, soup, salad and desert. They are usually $18-$25 depending on what you get. Great omelette selection and they are huge that come with freshly made home fries(get them deep fried for the extra crisp). The burgers are also very good! Freshly made soups daily. read more

First and foremost, ask for carol. She's amazing and was so good with our kids. One of the best waitresses we have ever had. The food was fantastic. I had the skillet breakfast and it was enough for three people. Not to mention the juice and coffee (super hot) were great. My kids loved the kids pizza and grilled cheese. My wife ordered the Greek club as a wrap and it was delicious. I think the owner was there as well because she gave our kids lollipops as they walked out. Just a down to earth old school diner. Looking for a place to for breakfast on the 4th of July. I searched Yelp for open places and The Diner came up. I never realized this place was here and they've been open for 4 years. My wife and I both ordered the Super Breakfast. I had pancakes with over easy eggs, sausage, home fries and whole wheat toast. My wife had French toast with over easy eggs, bacon, home fries and white toast. Service was good the food was just Ok. Nothing was wrong and it tasted good it just wasn't outstanding. Went here for a late lunch. Wasn't crowded and was bigger then I thought it would be. Waitress came right over, very friendly. Her name was Sue and she was a sweetheart. Offered her recommendation when asked. We ordered the potato pancakes which were good, a little different then what I'm used to, but they were very good. I ordered the BLT, which was a good size and had a decent amount of bacon, fries were good and I'm not really a fries person. BF had the grilled chicken wrap, which he said was good and he only ate half. He also isn't a fries person but did enjoy theirs. We finished with an egg cream since I've never had one. It was pretty good, although he said they are usually a little thicker but the waitress did ask if it was ok before she walked away. Went there for lunch with a friend. Was quite busy. Nice size diner with the regular old timers chatting away unfortunately so loud could barely hear my friend and I talk. Waitress was spot on, awesome service. Decent lunch specials comes with soup or salad and dessert. I had a Reuben special it was okay. Not the best in the world but the corned beef was really delicious. My friend had a California burger and the fries were nice and crispy. The matzoh ball soup was decent nothing to write home about. Nice little diner in a small little town. Definitely worth coming back would like to try their breakfast since alot of the dishes coming out looked really good. The Diner. What a name...and yet this place is exactly that. Classic diner tucked away in the main street of Jamesburg. Attracts many locals and the senior page menu means the age varies but leans towards an older generation. Wait staff is extremely friendly. My diner go to is the Monte Cristo and it is served with fries and rasberry jelly. Very large portions. I ate dinner and was able to get two lunches for the week. read more

Had a meeting with a business associate and I needed to find a place in the area - Yelp comes through once again. Jamesburg is a quaint little town that still has a railroad freight line running right in front of the diner. Nice touch, and we even had a train go through. If I was going to make my choice based upon initial appearance of the restaurant I may have driven right on by - but previous reviews gave me the real story. A handwritten special lunch menu with an incredible array of foods. I opted for the Cowboy Burger (burger with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and fried onions - Cowboy?) and it was quite good. The fries were crispy and hot and the coleslaw was moist and tasty. This spot a such a cute little family owned shop! It's a medium sized place with nice spread out tables and a very clean atmosphere. The waitstaff and the owner are extremely friendly and the food was great. My grandma got the stuffed cabbage and she raved about it for days. I got a caesar wrap with friends and it was very good as well!! I'm definitely glad I tried this place out and I'll be returning soon. read more

After dealing with the horror show Englishtown flea market we really worked up an appetite. Used yelp and this diner jumped off the page at me. Small little town, very clean & plenty of parking. Walked in and noticed the coziness right away, plenty of friendly faces. There was no wait to sit. We (family of 5) ordered breakfast and lunch. We got eggs, pancakes, corn beef hash, bacon, ham, home fries and I got the onion soup and turkey club. Soup was excellent, and the sandwich was perfectly portioned. Everyone was happy but the only complaint I have is that even though we asked to well done home fries and hash it still came out a lil mushy. It still tasted very good though. When it came time to pay the bill my son asked me for a corn muffin. The very very kind and pleasant lady at the register didn't charge me for it and thanked the family for coming. I will start off by saying that the food here is OK. I've had better, and I've definitely had worse, and the Jamesburg diner falls right int he middle of the spectrum. I will also say that as a local resident I have visited this diner on numerous occasions, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I won't bore you with the theatrics of each visit, and just give you a quick breakdown of what to expect. The diner itself is on the smaller size, so be prepared to sit close to other customers. It can get loud, so if you're looking for a library, this is not the place. The breakfast menu is not bad, if you're hungry, it will fill you up. Dinner is better, so if you can come for dinner instead, I highly suggest it. If I had to suggest one meal, I would say get the salmon and rice. That was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten here. So why did I knock them 2 stars? One one Occassion my girlfriend came here with 2 other girls and they got a waitress who can barely speak english. Not a big deal, but when she brought out the food, she kept asking who wants this. It must have been her first day, and since she could hardly speak english to begin with, it was a very awkward experience. That would make you question the managements decisions not only when it comes to hiring, but it makes you wonder what else is going on in the back of the house, if that is what is happening in the front of the house. I've also had other waitresses that are just not good at this place, so the service for me is an issue. The other thing is, and again, this is service related, is that the young girl at the register can be quite rude. She came up to our table and asked, who's card is this? Referring to a credit card. She didn't say excuse me, she didn't say hello, she was being totally obnoxious and rude, so for that, I knocked them another start. Summary? If you're hungry and you don't want to cook, and you're local, you will survive. If you can hit any other restaurant up in Jamesburg instead, then you're probably better off. read more

I was randomly in Jamesburg and searched on Yelp for a good diner, for lunch. This was the best rated one on Yelp and I took the recommendation. As soon as I walked in, it smelled like an old nursing home. I overheard a waitress say to the bus boy, "you get what you get here". I also heard someone from the kitchen cursing, because they had dropped something. I knew at this point I was in trouble, but couldn't turn back. I got bacon and a short stack of pancakes. Figured I was safe with that order. Bacon was burnt, and the pancakes were so thick I thought I was eating Italian bread. They had zero taste and were as dry as could be. The butter was so cheap, that it dissolved instantly into a liquid. The syrup came out of the jar in globs, like trying to empty a jar of molasses. My friend ordered a meatball parm, which looked good at first glance. He told me after the first bite that the meatballs were burnt, and the bread rubbery and stale. He also had to use half the shaker of salt in order to taste the French fries that came with it. I didn't even eat half of my meal, nor did my friend. My stomach was rumbling before I was done eating, and I'm pretty sure it was because of the disgusting, tasteless, expired syrup, which probably came out of the basement a few minutes before I arrived.
