THE FOOD. My familiarity is limited to orders of just about everything on the breakfast menu that meets my dietary requirements. My requirements are difficult to meet in many, many places because I have to avoid salt, sugar, beef, fats, AND ANYTHING WHITE UNBLEACHED FLOUR... These dietary needs make all my restaurant visits a scary adventure. So I constantly order different omelets, different egg only orders, and whole wheat bagels with lox. The last visit, a week ago this past Sunday, I ordered was a Greek style omelette in which I had to eliminate certain ingredients which also give me GI distress. The omelette came up wonderful and because I can only consume whole grains or ancient grains in any baked or cooked product, I ordered their gluten-free bread with my meal. This bread was delicious. And so my omelette. I only wished they had a fresh pepper grinder. (Planning to buy one and a generous supply of peppercorns and gift it to them). THE SERVICE My ginger-hair color waitress a week ago this Sunday was fabulous. Something I didn't tell her... that I was trying to get her phone number to set her up with my adult son whose girlfriend recently broke up with him and in constant pain because of a past spinal surgery. He's just 44 years old and a divorcé. I gave Ginger my car with my personal information and my son's phone number, and begged her to call him and tell her the good and the bad about meeting me at the diner. She's an excellent server. I wish to have many, many more like her in every restaurant. I go to Ginger. I love you. You're too young for me to date, but I would adopt you. Me and my family use to go to the diner weekly. Then , 2 times in a row, they burnt my food and another time served cold. I complained to the old pissed off cashier & she said if I wanted my money back, I have to talk to the owner. I didn't even eat it, I just wanted to let them know they wasted my time. My wife has Celiac Disease, and we have started coming to the Old Bridge Family Diner this summer as it has a reputation for being Celiac safe, as the owner has Celiac. This past Saturday was our 4th time visiting the diner. The first three times were great, this past one not so much. My wife order the gluten free pancakes as well as an omelette. The first sign that something was wrong was when our waitress got my step sons order ( regular, not gluten free) wrong and he had to wait 2o minutes for the correct order. I ordered some rye toast that never came until I asked the hostess for it. Ok, these things happen. As my wife got about halfway thru her pancakes, she said, " I don't think these are gluten free", but she was clearly concerned and pretty confident of her assessment. Still, we asked the waitress about it, who said they were gluten free because of how brown they were on top(?). She offered to take them to the cook to make sure. A few minutes later, she came back to tell that yes, they were regular pancakes, not gluten free. My wife had already eaten half of the stack. We have now been waiting 48 hours to see if she will have a reaction. This is a very big deal. People with Celiac Disease often have violent reactions to eating gluten. My wife often does not, so she may get lucky this time. Other people will not be so lucky if this happens to them. To say we are disappointed and frustrated is an understatement. My wife may never feel safe coming to Old Bridge Family Diner again, which is an absolute shame, because our favorite meal to eat out for is breakfast, and she felt she FINALLY had found a place that she could eat breakfast safely. It pains me to write this, as we met and chatted with Sofia the owner on our previous visits, and she was wonderful. This is a major screwup, however. read more

I come to this place on a monthly basis, or at least a few times a year. A few weeks back, I came here and I tried their cannoli crepes for the very first time. This is the first time I've ever tried crepes and these were delicious. While their filling fell out quite easily, I'm assuming that's normal. Now, usually, I come here and get French toast, eggs, pancakes, other breakfasts. And each and every time, they're delicious. I cannot express how delicious they are, even with syrup or jam or other condiments. Along with this, the service is impeccable.
