Great place to go. Convenient to the Hospital and the Comfort Suites. I walked over for dinner tonight and had a great dinner. We went to the Evergreen Museum and were looking for a good place to eat nearby. This was close and had a safe menu for my kids with allergies. It wasn't very busy so we were seated quickly. The staff were friendly and the food turned out wonderful. I like the fact they make most things from scratch using wholesome ingredients. The kids had grilled chicken strips and home made fries. The fries were so good we requested more. I had their corned beef hash and my wife got chicken fried steak. Both were seasoned well and very filling. I'm picky picky picky about my corned beef hash. I have sent it back many times-- more than I can count-- when it's not up to snuff. This was super delicious! Moist, generous portions of corned beef with perfectly cooked small cubes of potatoes and just the right amount of green pepper and onion. Topped with sunnyside up eggs with homemade (!) bread. Then---my husband had country eggs benedict, which is country sausage gravy with fried chicken and bacon. Topped with eggs! Wowie Kazowie!!!!! Stumptown coffee. The food here is excellent -- most things are made from scratch. We enjoyed their hamburgers with added ground bacon as well as the homemade corn beef hash and corned beef Rueben. Both the chili --which is more like a tomato-bean soup -- as well as the butternut squash soup were big hits with our group of 12. A full menu of Eggs Benedict variations awaits - breakfast is served all day. The wait staff is very friendly and responsive. We liked it so much we ate here 3 times during our stay in McMinnville (it didn't hurt that it was next door to our hotel.) Very accommodating of families. read more

Listened to the Yelpers and decided to stop here for lunch on the way back from the coast. Oh so glad we did! As a Bloody Mary expert, I can tell you--that has got to be one of the best spicy marys I have ever had. Like, ever. The service (Julius) was wonderful, and everything our table ordered, from the Cuban to the linguine to the burger and the grilled cheese--was excellent. Wow!! This place is a hidden gem, and surprisingly unknown. My husband and I were so happy with our meal, everything was made from scratch using high quality ingredients. I would hardly consider this typical diner fare, the food served here is something to expect from an upscale bistro only more affordable. The restaurant was very clean and kid friendly as well, they have a cupboard of games to keep the little ones entertained. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. I really want to like it. The concept is good, but the space is small, the wait is long, the portions small and most importantly, customer service is severely lacking. We've been in several times and served by an older lady with a major case of the grumps. Simple requests like an extra chair or explaining something on the menu were met with almost an eye-rolling response. This server lady is almost always the only one there to handle the orders and checks/till. Today, it took an hour and a half for the food to arrive. Even my husband who is very good natured, became impatient. Improve the wait times and customer service please. For now, there are a million other good breakfast places in downtown Mac. A $9.00 meal here would be $13-$16 in Portland. You won't find better quality, better taste, local and all other food greatness anywhere else in McMinnville. Caesar salad has best croutons ever - feather light and still warm from the toaster! Root beer is exceptional, lemonade a bit sour (fine for purists but be forewarned!) Really wanted to love it and expected to based on other Yelp reviews, but sadly it was just OK. Shrimp and grits - shrimp were great but grits had been overcooked to mush and didn't really taste like grits. The mushroom sauce really didn't seem to fit at all. The chicken in the Cobb salad was sadly tough. Had a brownie for dessert. It came wrapped in plastic wrap indicating it came from elsewhere likely. Regardless, it was pretty dry and nothing special. The folks at the Red Lion directed us to this small, clean, and delightful restaurant. Our 7 year old grandson wanted "noodles w/butter & cheese" (not on the menu) and the waiter and the chef really came through! Our table had primavera, alfredo, the "special" noodles, and a tuna melt. Wonderful experience! The Cuban here is one of the most delightful sandwiches I've ever had. The fries are good and go well with the Portland Ketchup. My only criticism is the bread on my Cuban was toasted a little too hard and rubbed the roof of my mouth unpleasantly, but I will eat it again any day. read more

Pros: our server was attentive, explaining the delay with our order was due to a problem with the grinder; the chicken club and my friend's burger were good. Cons: my burger was well done and dry (I ordered medium rare), no one told the staff that potato salad was on the menu so it had to be made while we waited. The potatoes were still crunchy although the flavor was good. Sixty dollars was too much to pay for three sandwiches, two beers and a glass of wine, especially since the food was not up to its traditional standards. read more
