Ummmmm YUMMMMM is all I can say. This place is a serious hole in the wall diner. It may or may not have clean cups. Lmao. But the food sure was delish. It is very small and you will wait outside if it's a wait. The place is that small. You also walk through the kitchen to get to the restroom. You see the cooks cutting fresh potatoes and everything. It was quite cool even though the restroom wasn't that great. The portions are generous and the food is hearty and filling. If you're looking to eat "healthy" go somewhere else. I can't get over how good their food is. I mean every time I come here it's better than the time before. Their tamales are bomb!!! I could honestly say they are the second best I've ever had. My friends mother takes first place but man these are really good. And grilled too?! Yes, dang good. I tried the "home wrecker" twice but the second time it had cream cheese in it which I guess was what it should have had in it both times but I actually prefer it without the cream cheese. It's basically their "Eggarito" with bacon inside (and the cream cheese). The Mexi scramble is pretty good but minus any meat and there is something to be left to the imagination. With sausage it would be great but for those who prefer no meat it's perfect. Coffee is really good here and the staff are always on top of warm ups which is great. This was our first time to the Diner and it was a little early so it wasn't as busy as I have seen pictures of. My dad got the blueberry pancakes and I got the Sunday special of the Southwest Eggs Benedict. The blueberry pancakes were the best pancakes I e ever tasted. You didn't have to drown them in syrup to make them fast good, and they didn't turn to mush with the butter and syrup. The Southwest Eggs Benedict was hands down one of my most favorite breakfast dishes I've ever had. I could have licked the plate clean. The ham was perfect, not too salty and had a great flavor. The Hollandaise sauce was sooooooo good. The has browns nice and crispy and when the hollandaise sauce was mixed in, they were even better. I will definitely be back! read more

We came here on a Sunday for breakfast ( approx 10am). There was a wait- but not long. The inside isn't big; about 10 counter stools and 6 tables. Wait staff was nice- keep us hydrated w water and coffee while we waited for food. Blueberry pancakes and omelettes were delicious. This could be a new regular stop for us. We sat at the bar right in front of the grill and got to chat with all of the staff. There couldn't be friendlier, more down to earth people than the people who work here! They make you feel right at home. Now on to the food. I ordered the egg quesadilla and my boyfriend had to order what Guy Fieri ordered when he came here which is the burrito. Mine was average but my boyfriend's burrito was amazing. If I ordered the same thing again I'd maybe add pinto beans to it or something for some additional flavor. Also, come hungry because the portions are monstrous! Featured on Drive-In diners and dives. I've been here once before have the T-shirt, lol. It's a fun place. Professional, service fantastic. Everyone is treated like an old friend. Good karma soon as you walk through the door. Now, be careful it closes at 2:00. They serve breakfast and lunch. Good news if you get there before 2:00 you have the restaurant almost to yourself. The chili is award-winning comes with all the sides. Biscuits and gravy light and fluffy, homemade. Pancakes are thick but not rubbery or hard soft and fluffy. My blueberry pancakes were divine with real butter excellent huge jumbo blueberries inside. Blueberries cooked so the natural sugars just popped out of them. Not pictured is the chile relleno highly recommend I ate it quick. Didn't get a picture. Everything was delicious I've paid three times this and not gotten as good a meal. We were in town for the football game with some friends and got to try this local gem. I got the breakfast sandwich which was exactly enough food for me. The bacon was a little bit chewy but still good. My husband and friends got pancakes and one friend also got their southwestern eggs benedict. I didn't get to try it but it looked fantastic. It was the special that day. It was kind of a downer that we had to wait in line but that happens. This place is super tiny and four of us barely fit in a booth. A Norman Tradition! Every time I return to my hometown for a visit, breakfast or lunch at the Diner is an absolute MUST. The Diner and Norman go together like peas and carrots. There's the historical Downtown Main Street aspect, followed by the fame of being featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, not to mention delicious greasy spoon classic southern diner food. I love to sit at the countertop to watch the kitchen magic unfold. The biscuits are fresh and warm (sometimes they run out), the bacon is always crispy but not overdone, every omelette is made to order, and fruit pancakes (with the fruit actually inside the batter) are always on the menu. This place is fantastic! The food is great and the atmosphere brings back memories of childhood. A simple but great meal away from the franchises that have taken over the world. Waitresses are friendly, cooks are fun to watch as the grill is right in front of the counter, and the food has been great every time we go here. I have only had breakfast but hope to sometime be in area around lunch to give that a try. I live two hours away but always come by here when I am in town. Definitely recommend! We walked in to find a long hallway type Space with booths on the left hand side and counter seating overlooking the flattop. There were a couple parties ahead of us but it was maybe 5-8mins before a booth was cleared and we were able to sit. Wouldn't recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 due to potential wait time and even then you'll be touching elbows in the booth. It was time for Sunday brunch and I was craving a burger, go figure. So I ordered the cheese burger with bacon, no onions please! Fries which was an upcharge to a side of ridged potato chips and I asked for mayo and mustard on the side. When our food arrived my server forgot my on the side condiments but nbd. The amount of bacon added to the burger was very satisfactory. Bun was soft, burger was cooked nicely, just done very well. It wasn't the best burger I've ever had but it suffices. $9-10 plus a $1something upcharge for the fries. This place has a lot of history but I didn't really get the hype. As customers walked in, the cold air hits you like a freight train if you're 'lucky' to sit in one of the first two booths. Even though I'm giving them 3 stars, I'm looking forward to trying them again and ordering off of the breakfast menu since most of the 4-5 star reviews are talking about breakfast. read more

I was here for an early lunch with a colleague. We had a meeting on campus so we wanted a diner close to campus. I love Norman's Main Street! The Diner is smack in the middle of Main Street and I was happy to see so many locally owned businesses on Main Street. We were seated immediately at the counter. I'm big on NOT smelling like food after leaving a restaurant and guess what? I did not smell like food. They really have good ventilation. Okay, so that's a plus considering we literally sat right in front of the grill. We shared a frito chili pie and grilled cheese. The frito chili pie was pretty good. You really can't go wrong here considering it's fritos, homemade chili, and shredded cheese. I'll have to try the chili by itself next time because it was delicious. The grilled cheese was a bit "boring". Some butter on the bread would have been nice. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at The Diner and will come back when I am in the area. Tasty breakfast diner that has friendly service with a smile. Feels like a small town diner that you'd expect to see the local farmers chatting away at but this joint has a mix of families, college kids, to retired people which makes it a great casual spot that everybody can fit in. The food is great and served very quickly. The coffee is hot, fresh, and delicious (it's Cain's coffee which is locally roasted "MIO Made in Oklahoma" and can be purchased at local grocery stores.) I ordered the blueberry pancakes (tons of fresh blueberries, not frozen!) with bacon (mouth-watering-ly delicious) scrambled eggs (kinda plain...needed seasoning). Our waitress was really fun and friendly. I love great service. Great/reasonable prices. Park in the street. It's a popular place/area so parking can be difficult. You'll probably have to wait in line for 8+ minutes or so to get a table when it's not very busy. It's a small building so do everyone a favor and quit asking how long for a table because it ain't the Ritz and everyone's trying to enjoy their meal! When you walk in you will notice how small it is with booth seating as well as stool seating right in front of the grill. This place probably holds only like 30 people inside. The food is mainly breakfast and lunch. With everything from breakfast burritos to chili burgers. The tamales are defiantly my favorite. They are so smooth and buttery and melt in your mouth amazing. I love the biscuits and gravy too. Their chili burger is pretty dang big and it is loaded with world championship chili. All their food is fresh and made to order. Come with a hearty appetite. What can I say? I seem to only come on here to review the things I love. Some say my standards aren't super high, and that I think most things are pretty awesome. Judging from others reviews, I think we can safely say, I know what I'm talking about. The Diner is everything I wanted it to be. Small, full of character, bustling staff, and... diner food. I've been in real no joke diners, and this place can hold it's own. Is it fancy? No. What are you doing at a diner if you want fancy? Sit down, eat your food, and smell like the grill for the rest of the day. Like all the other not-fancy people who know what's up. There's pictures everywhere, and old booths, and the staff wear their own clothes with an apron thrown on over it. It smells like the grill has been seasoned by 100s of 1,000s of breakfasts & lunches cooked in meat fat, and egg juice, and all the other deliciousness you taste in the food. Everything comes on the white cafeteria-style plates you know and love. And all of these things make this place comforting, and relaxing, and your whole day is better after being there. I had a 2x2x2, with sausage patties, blueberry pancakes (small upcharge), and eggs over easy. I split home fries with my sister, who got the exact same thing as I. The blueberry pancakes are BURSTING with those little blue delicious guys. I mean, so many blueberries. And so delicious. The sausage patties were also delicious. My three uncles who live together on my grandparents farm in Northern MI would approve. The eggs were just right, and the home fries.... the home fries were soooooooo mouthwatering yummy times. The seasoning, and the browning, and the, and the.... you don't need ketchup, and they are flavorful, and moist, and just go have some already. Oh! And not greasy. Key to a home fries success, if you ask me. Prices, great. Excellent deal for all the quality food you get. Parking, street. It's downtown Main Street in Norman. You know the drill. Atmosphere, come on. This place is going to make you feel like your grandpa has taken you to his favorite eatery, and everyone is friendly, and if you have to wait, then do it, because you won't regret it.* I write long reviews, but hopefully they make you want to go to the place ASAP. Still breakfast champion of Norman after all these years. The food is fantastic, I've probably worked my way through the entire menu over the years. My go to for breakfast is the egg quesadilla: tomatoes, cheese, green chiles. I add sausage. They get the flour tortilla nice and crisp from the grill, and the cheese is melty. Fantastic with some hot sauce. The hash browns are standard, as are the home fries. I go with home fries, they are seasoned well, plenty of onion, and the potatoes are cooked perfectly. They are soft, but not so soft they lose their shape and integrity. The biscuits and gravy are solid as well. They make excellent peppery cream gravy. As other yelpers note, The Diner has a fantastic selection of condiments/hot sauces. Also, good tunes are always playing. As much as I love the breakfast at the diner, the lunch is fantastic too; particularly the burgers and chicken fried steak. A couple of housekeeping items should be mentioned. First of all, it's a small place. If you have more than 4, you can't sit together. They have booths and a counter, but the booths aren't large. Second, it's very crowded on weekends. It was like this before it was on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, so just be prepared to wait. It's a very orderly wait, but it's a wait nonetheless. They get food out to you quickly, so unless people sit for hours drinking their coffee (which you shouldn't do if people are waiting) they turn the tables over pretty quickly. So happy to visit this landmark Oklahoma eatery. I had time to burn on my OKC project and I've already hit every TV Food Find in that town. What's left? A jaunt to The small town of Norman and a lunch stop at The Diner. I'm a New Jersey boy and we have epic diners ranging from tiny stainless and porcelain train car style all the way to massive 300+ seater with bars and bakeries. What's lacking is that fast friendly down home feeling I got from the staff and patrons during my visit. Somebody even did the old "what exit" joke. The waitress was as cute as a bucket of puppies and she was moving working and being great to everyone non stop. The other staff were busy bees too still friendly but focused. I like that, it shows dedication to the craft and to the establishment. As for the food it was okay I mean this place will feed you but go for the experience. I had some Championship chili and it has a nice heat to it. I tasted the hash and it was more like a stew but very tasty. Go grab breakfast or lunch and see for yourself. My first time actually eating in the Diner, I've gotten a burger and fries to go before. The burger was actually really good, thicker than a typical diner style burger (like sooner dairy) and a nice light bun. Anyway, this is not about that. I ordered the frito chili pie with their award winning chili. My friend ordered breakfast, French toast eggs and biscuits and gravy. Frito chili pie was deeeelish. The chili... It's different but really good. I can't put my finger on it but it's not like chili from a can or your normal chili seasonings. It's almost sweet and savory. Topped with cheese and chips, it was a hearty meal! I stole bites of the biscuits and gravy, which weren't anything special. Like cafeteria biscuits and gravy. A really doughy biscuit rather than flaky. The French toast was good.. Then after 2 more bites the heavy does of nutmeg or even cloves hit me like a brick. Not good. Not a fan. (every time I drive by, there's a line out the door) I stopped here on a snow day on the way home because every other breakfast place was closed and luckily there wasn't a wait. My go-to is always the "Kitchen Sink"; a wonderful omelet of whatever the chef wishes, along with hash browns and biscuits & gravy.
