Still great and friendly service. I had the egg breakfast quesadilla and it was delicious and really thick with crunchy peppers and tomatoes. Hubs had the 2 egg plate with bacon. Our hash-browns were not as good today. Maybe not cooked long enough. It's still super small and cramped but it's fun.

The food was AMAZING, had trouble picking what I want to eat this morning, one of the new waitresses helped me out and it was the best decision I ever made, meat is cooked to perfection, love the peppers, cheese, sauces and the hash browns as well. The ambiance of the diner is beautiful and old school, I'm a sucker for mom and pop diners, great playlist of music and it felt like an authentic old school diner to come around break and lunch. Would definitely come back here again!

I'll start with the positives: Omelets are delicious, eggs are fluffy, hash browns are crispy and not greasy, biscuits and gravy are tasty although biscuit is a bit dry, coffee is good. Negatives: extremely small space making you feel very cramped, small bathroom, not the cleanest feeling restaurant I've been in, food took a long time to get to the table, NO KIDS MENU, expensive!! Our waitress was great at first. She refilled our coffee's quickly and I was very happy about that. But once the food came, she disappeared and we never saw her again. I don't know if she went home, or was on break, she never communicated with us but we never saw her again and we never got more coffee. This is such a tiny, cramped, hole in the wall diner but they're charging big restaurant prices. For 2 coffees and 2 apple juices we paid $13!!!!!!! I had a create your own omelet and my husband had the brisket hash and ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. We ordered the 2x2x2 with chocolate chip pancakes for our kids to split since there was no kids menu. Our bill came to $53 before tip! For a tiny little hole in the wall diner? Nope. Not paying those prices to be squeezed into a booth feeling like sardines. The omelet was good, but not that good.

I know The Diner is a Norman staple, but I was pretty underwhelmed at my breakfast. All the food was just okay. The hash browns were the best thing in my opinion, and my friend's tamale breakfast was pretty tasty. Maybe I should have ventured out and got something more exciting like the tamale. But, I love biscuits and gravy, so that is usually my go to when I visit a breakfast joint. The gravy here tasted like it was made from a mix and the biscuits seemed like they were mass produced elsewhere, so it was a big miss for me. The positives were that the restaurant was very cute and offered a quintessential diner experience. Our waitress was very friendly and the prices were quite affordable. So it definitely has some good things going for it, but to me, it left a little to be desired.

This place looks like a hole in the wall and it is. It's also a great diner. The name says it simply and that how the food is cooked. I judge a breakfast place on how I order my eggs. If I say over medium and they don't know or look at me funny then I just say over easy and I get over medium. This place knew. Service was great. The decor was dated and old but I like the rustic look. Plus it's in Norman Oklahoma and that's how many places are. The food was really good and felt fresh. Eggs were cooked perfect. The link sausage had that skin that pops when you bite down and was flavorful. The oatmeal was thick. Some people like it more runny or with milk but I enjoyed it. It felt like it coated your ribs. Overall you shouldn't pass through and not get breakfast there. Great place to get a simple home cooked breakfast.

The Diner is a lot smaller than I thought it'd be so be prepared to wait if you go on the weekend. We got lucky and was able to be seated right away. I enjoyed the food and our waiter. I didn't feel like it was anything super extra special but was the food was good.

Perfect breakfast place. I've lived in Norman my whole life and have heard about this place for years. It's pretty small so any time I've tried to go it's been packed with a long line. The kids woke us up early so we figured this would be perfect timing. Went at 7:30ish and there were plenty of a tables open. It has a cute classic diner atmosphere. Restaurant was clean and all of the staff were wearing masks. The service was great and the waitstaff came by several times to make sure we were well taken care of. I ordered the 2x2x2 and the pancakes were delicious. Eggs and bacon were good too and everything came out piping hot fresh off the griddle. Husband had the chicken fried steak and it was sooo good! I'm definitely getting that next time for myself. The gravy was really good too. My son had the chocolate chip pancake but I stole a few bites myself, yum!

If you come on the weekend, expect to wait, but it's worth the wait. The food is diner food, the inlets are huge and amazing, the person with me ate the blueberry pancakes and was very satisfied, we both had leftovers. Bring CASH. read more

This place is always hoppin'! (every time I drive by, there's a line out the door) I stopped here on a snow day on the way home because every other breakfast place was closed and luckily there wasn't a wait. My go-to is always the "Kitchen Sink"; a wonderful omelet of whatever the chef wishes, along with hash browns and biscuits & gravy. If you decided to visit this wonderful place, don't forget a large appetite because you'll need it. (seriously, I couldn't finish all of my food) read more

Yes it is worth the wait. Best Huevos rancheros ever and I have had a ton. Great pancake, loved the waitress suggestion of 1/2 huevos and a single pancake. Satisfied both carvings. Next time I would go full huevos. Beef and beans burrito was huge and excellent. Go now or as soon as they open. read more

Enjoyed breakfast there this morning! It's got the diner feel. Wait staff was outstanding and my coffee was never empty! Kiddo had the strawberry pancakes and inhaled them. Husband and I had omelettes. Husband was watching the guy cooking and said he literally could not cook any faster- multiple orders going on the grill, and still apologetic for the "wait" which really wasn't that bad, especially on Mother's day at 10am. Really, really enjoyed the biscuits. Gravy was just ok. The home fries are well seasoned. Would have been good with some fruit preserves. Because of the size of the place, it's a tight fit. You have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. We weren't able to fit a party of 6 at a single table (booths fit 4 adults without much room to spare). They don't keep a wait list- basically said "figure out where you are in line and we will let everyone know when the next table is." read more

If you are looking for some genuinely traditional breakfast food, this is the place to go. Bacon, eggs, sausage, yum. There is just something nastalgic about walking into a place like this. Black coffee with creamer, nothing fancy but gives you the kick you need. The only downfall I can really see is there not being a wait list to check in ahead of time to know the wait time like other restaurants in the area. The seating is scarce and compacted, worth the wait if you see a line. read more

The diner is just what the name says. A traditional style diner. I have only been for breakfast, but it is a very hearty breakfast. The Kitchen Sink omelette is awesome. They have the good crispy style hash browns. During COVID they are not doing dine in, which for me is a let down. Part of the experience of The Diner is definitely the atmosphere of either the booths or the counter seating. read more

I know this place came highly touted and I have enjoyed my previous visits. I did enjoy this one as well but something was missing. I think the food was a little bland and the service was uninspired at best. Still overall one of the better breakfast joints in Norman. I will update after next visit read more

A classic mom and pop dinner with a hipster decor twist. Came her for breakfast and the staff were very friendly. They speak to you like you've lived in the neighborhood right around the block. Very small accommodation and space for babies are limited to two high chairs. Breakfast was great, a lot of pancakes, and a great price. A must if you are near Norman Oklahoma or a drunk OU student. Didn't give it a 5 star because I have been here once and 5 stars must be really impressive for a one time visit. read more

Great local diner for breakfast or lunch. It's situated in a narrow store front along downtown Main Street. Take the first parking spot you see. Inside the restaurant, you will find four person booths lining one side of the restaurant while a counter & barstools line the opposite side facing the cooking station, grill & griddle. The cooks stay busy constantly cooking hash browns, potatoes & pancakes. Lots of egg dishes on the menu small by with burgers & sandwiches at lunch. We had the Egaritto with sausage & the Mexi Scram with sausage. The hash browns & fried potatoes that came with the meals were good. Staff was friendly & efficient. The turnover seemed faster than most diners. We never felt rushed but I think everyone just knows to eat & get moving so someone else can get seated & dine. We will be back but probably not on an OU game weekend. It would be a safe bet that there would be a substantial waiting line for this diner. read more

The Diner has good word of mouth among Normanites after appearing in an episode of a certain cable TV diner program. Believe the hype! These blueberry pancakes are the real deal and the sheriff of local breakfasts in these parts. I've heard their lunches are solid, but to be honest I'd never NOT order the fabulous flapjacks. Coffee is nice and dark and pairs well. Seating is limited, which can be frustrating. But just think happy thoughts filled with fluffy pancakes while you wait and soon you will live your day dreams! read more

I love hole-in-the-wall joints and this is one of them. This place is indeed a diner, style to match. It's a one aisle pathway with booths on one side, bar stools on the other. Not ideal for big parties but perfect if you have 4 or less. It's in downtown Norman, so you can enjoy the little stores and scenery while you wait. On the weekend it's usually packed, so be prepared. They have a grill behind the bar which is nice to see the fry cooks doing their thing. The menu has traditional breakfast like Chicken fried steak and eggs to things a little more unique like brisket & tamales. Service is good and fast. The food never disappoints. The CFS comes out nice and crispy & their biscuits are homemade! read more

Wife wanted to try this place since she seen it on Diners, Drive-ins, Dives. She is from New Mexico and loves her chile so this was her choice. Wife had big breakfast burrito with green chile and hash browns. Green Chile sauce was okay, burrito hardly had any egg it and was mostly a veggie burrito. I had the Frito Chili pie and the chili was good. Overall doubt we would return. read more

This is a classic home style cooking diner with great breakfast as well as award winning chili, burgers and daily specials. Great service, everyone knows you (or will act like they do) and you won't leave hungry. Great comfort food and now they are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday Evenings as well. Sometimes a line, but always worth the wait. read more

Delicious food served up quick. I got a breakfast burrito and it was bigger than my head. Loaded with delicious food and very filling. I got two meals out of the leftovers! Staff were all very nice and I chit chatted with them for a while after my meal just because! read more

Absolutely LOVE The Diner!! Fantastic, classic, diner food with outstanding service! I love getting the "chef's choice" omelette; I've never been disappointed. Weekend mornings there will be a wait as it's a small place not great for groups larger than 4 if you want to sit together. There is almost always counter seating (1 or 2 together) and the wait staff keep things moving quick. read more

I didn't realize how much history was in this place before I arrived, they have been around for over a hundred years! Very impressive! We came here to see some friends off, going on long journeys far away. Standard breakfast foods here, standard taste. Me and a friend ordered the 2x2x2, pancakes bacon and eggs, good amount of food for the price. Another friend got French toast and another got eggs and a biscuit. All the foods were great. Seating area was tiny, like a long corridor. Friendly staff, and I like that they kept the old sign out front. I would come back here just because of how long this place has been around. read more

Went to The Diner with a friend for breakfast. It's conveniently located in downtown Norman, and, like most of the other businesses in downtown Norman in the mornings, was packed. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. Now when I say it was packed, I'm talking *everyone* was invading everyone else's personal bubble while trying to scramble in or out of the building. It's a very small restaurant, just narrow and long with not too many tables. The service was "meh," but the poor woman seemed to be taking care of half the tables in the restaurant. I ordered an omelette with a side of bacon. It was REALLY good. I'm not usually one to be thrilled about omelettes, but it was perfectly cooked, didn't have a mountain of cheese inside, and had plenty of veggies to make me happy. Also, the bacon was thick. Like. Really thick. *drools* Overall, I'm not sure I'd go back simply because of the crowds and how small it was. I'm just not a fan of closed spaces and lots of people, but I've definitely recommended it to people! read more

Established in 1996.

Our Diner was founded by Mark Amspacher, who passed it on to his daughter Bonnie, our owner and head cook galore.

Meet the Business Owner: Bonnie A.

Bonnie is a fourth-generation Oklahoman whose great-grandfather moved his family from Apache, OK to Norman, OK during the Great Depression and opened the Southside Grocery, which he and his sons ran for many years. Bonnie's dad Mark opened the Diner when the Grocery closed, and the rest is history!

We shared the Buffalo Wontons, the Chicken Flatbread and the Banana Pepper Caesar Salad. The Flatbread was amazing, great flavor combination. The salad has parmesan crisps that were a pleasant surprise. A huge upgrade over croutons. The wontons are light and flavorful. They offer brunch from 10-2 on weekends and after reading the menu descriptions we returned on Sunday to try the Okie Bennie and the Rancheros. The crispy potatoes are awesome. Skin on, seasoned and a great addition to both dishes. The verde sauce on the Rancheros was delicious, the carnitas was tender. A great breakfast bowl. The Okie Bennie was very good. Easy to get a bite of egg, chicken and biscuit on your fork. We finished the meal sharing the sweet potato cheesecake. Our server on Sunday was Matthew. The Winston is worth the wait. Weather permitting, the outdoor patio is a good option.

Our service and meal were absolutely fantastic. I wish I could remember our server's name, but she took care of our group of about 12 in the back room and was on top of everything all night. She was so kind, patient, and willing to repeat things when needed, which is huge when you have that many people trying to get attention at once. Since then, servers have been attentive, but not overly so, and congenial. The restaurant is always clean. This includes the ladies' restroom. We usually get the Pick 2. The chupacabra sandwich is delicious. I've also had the fried shrimp and the fisherman's platter at different times. Both excellent. Suffice it to say, deciding to give Pub W a second try was well worth the effort.

I motionen to a waitress who shook her head No then a little blonde waitress motioned to my hat and shook her head no. My hat was an Oklahoma state cowboys hat. So they refused to serve to me.
