Amazing place. Came in at 10am on a Sunday expected a long wait and only 15 mins. Like a nice mom and pop diner. Food was delicious and hot. They have some unique breakfast things that looked delicious. Everyone was very nice and checked in on us. Visiting from out of state but would definitely come back. Visiting Tyler and found this place. Looked good. Ordered the chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. Food came and I was ready to dig in. They forgot to bring the gravy for the steak so I asked them to bring it. The waitress went to the kitchen and came back and said. I'm sorry but we are out of gravy. You're a breakfast diner... how in the hell do you run out of gravy. Better yet does no one know how to make gravy? I'm sure you have some flour and milk. Better to go with simple scrambled eggs. This is no fault of The Diner, it's more a matter of how spicy (or not) I want my first meal of the day to be. We had the opportunity to eat here this past weekend. There was quite a wait which is usually an indicator of a solid place. The food was good, the staff was friendly, however, the cleanliness was lacking a bit. Unsure if that's a normal thing or if it was due to the turnaround of the tables but the condiments were all sticky, there were gnats that would not leave our table alone (we were not near a door) and I did see some of the staff standing around when clearly there could have been more cleaning going on. At approximately 6:30 AM on April 12th, my Husband and I went to our favorite breakfast spot, The Diner. The cook greeted and seated us. The hostess was sitting at a table talking to someone. There were two additional tables of customers, a group of four "working men", (described because of their clothes and the trucks outside) and another man who was sitting at a table alone. After we were seated, my husband thought he saw something moving across the floor. The table of 4 men yelled, jumped up and knocked the over their food. "A mouse ran up my leg". We looked forward to dining here on our time in Tyler. The wait was about 35 minutes on a Saturday at 11am. Checkin is great with a simple text message that also contains wait time updates. The place is clean and offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options. I opted for the migas skillet while my wife ordered the brisket tacos and a cinnamon roll. Both meals arrived quickly, within 15 minutes. They both looked really good too! But that was about it. The flavor of both meals were rather bland. The included salsa had no kick to it and the brisket was more like a pot roast. The cinnamon roll was covered in frosting, pooling on the full size plate, and tasted like it was heated in a microwave. The place was packed so maybe our food choices were just off. I'd probably not go back but as we like to say, "the water was great"! read more

Girlfriend ain't had chorizo skillet, came out cold, had to ask to heat it up and took 10 mins after we received the other food. The most important meal of the day and the best place for it in Tyler is The Diner. All of the breakfast combos are great. Faves are chicken fried chicken & eggs, anything with bacon, and Migas. Pancakes are solid choice multigrain Go for the hashbrowns, skillet potatoes are meh.Chicken & waffles are good. Crab Benedict is ezcellent. Check out the Yelp offer of a free cinnamon roll. Great starter with coffee, even if it wasn't free, and a good way to keep the younglings occupied while waiting for good. Servixe is always friendly and top-notch. Special thanks to both Alexandra and Jo for totally crushing service during super busy times. They made our morning twice this week. There is usually a wait on weekends. This was a recommendation from a personal friend from the Tyler area, as well as good Yelp! reviews. Bonus, it was close to our hotel (Hampton). There was no wait, although they will only seat you once your entire party if here, FYI. They are known for their breakfast menu. There was FIVE pages of breakfast items, as well as an appetizers page. Slightly overwhelming, but I made a decision on the fajita omelette. I added bacon and jalapeños. It comes with your choice of cheese and potatoes. I had cheddar and skillet potatoes. The omelette was OUTSTANDING. Seriously one of the best I've ever had. The skillet parties were good not great. My wife had eggs and bacon with French toast. She did not like her eggs or the French toast. She said the toast was soggy, like it wasn't cooked. She really liked the biscuit so she ordered another of those. The coffee is Seattle's Best and it was very good. The service was great and there was a manager present that was checking on guests. If you check in on Yelp! you get a free cinnamon roll. It was good. Could have had more icing but I liked it because it was soft all the way through, not just the center. After spending one night in Tyler, TX, we passed on the complimentary continental breakfast at our hotel and went for a better experience at what looked like a promising local establishment. We could not have chosen better. The Diner is a roomy full-service breakfast & lunch diner with an outstanding variety of morning fare. I chose the Denver omelette, customizing it with feta cheese and rye toast on the side. (Such is an example of the assortment available.) Pancakes & waffles are available, which my partner took advantage of. Clearly a family place, and there was a short wait, with parking a challenge, but all well worth it. My friend and I visited last week for lunch. Just wanted to try a new place. Took a quick look at the menu and it had a lot of choices and prices looked decent. I ordered the burger and it was very tasty, but my friend ordered the chicken club. Not a good idea. The toast was too thin to support the ingredients of the sandwich and was actually soggy, The chicken breast was whole and entirely too thick for a small sandwich. The avocado kept trying to escape with the bacon (which was delightfully crisp), and the whole thing had to be eaten with a knife and fork. Also as nice as the waitress was, she never came back and checked on us after the food arrived. My friend says she'll never go back, but I would for the burger. read more

They cycle through tables quickly, they are always on top of drink refills, (coffee, water, etc.) the food is delicious, and the servers are always super kind with a smile on their face. Overall, the Diner is the most professionally run breakfast place I have been to. They aren't cheap by any means.
