Great after work spot for drinks and shenanigans - not as impressed with brunch. The place is cute and homey with a decent amount of street parking. Got here on a weeknight a few months ago and we sat at the bar - decent sized spot with retractable doors during the better weather. The night we came was warm so the doors were up. We ordered calamari, wings and pizza. We were able to order half BBQ Chicken and half Pink Ala Vodka - both were pretty good and pizza had good crust. Everything was pretty tasty and the bartender was very personable so this made me excited to come back for brunch. Fast forward a few weeks, I came back for Sunday brunch - wasn't as happy with my experience. They had a build your own Bloody Mary bar which was pretty cool - I didn't partake but my friend did and she liked that she could adjust it to her liking. We both were excited to try the Chicken and Waffles - sadly we both didn't like it. The chicken was just ok and waffles tasted a bit rubbery. The Pink ala Vodka pizza is pretty unique and worth getting. It's definitely a flavor bomb with a good mix of salty and sweet. The crust is thin and crispy which is really nice when you get it right out of the oven, but it does get a little dry if it sits for a while, so make sure to eat it fast. I would probably skip the buffalo chicken pizza though. It's pretty one-note and it tastes mostly like a cheese pizza with buffalo sauce, without a considerable amount of flavor to the chicken on it. Altogether, it's a pretty good vibe here and the food is pretty decent. If you're into thin pizza, this place is at least worth a try! read more

I have been coming here for years- the food is always great and very consistent- service and staff are friendly and attentive.... I love love the music they play - throw back R&B and other 80's 90's . I have only two issues with this place- I'm not a fan of the drag brunch , I've been once and on several occasions I have walked in forgetting it was drag brunch- it's too much commotion and loud !!! Not the way I want to spend an afternoon meal- I'm sure many patrons enjoy it and go specifically for that but it does limit your crowd.... My only other issue are the drinks!!! Very weak and not good!! This has been in several visits- a Cosmo should not be bright red and needs to be shaken until very cold.... My biggest pet peeve is spending $10-14 on a drink and it's awful!!! I'll continue to visit but maybe not during drag brunch or after I get a strong cold drink somewhere first. read more

It was a very sunny day last week when my 98-year-old Aunt and I stopped at The District for a quick lunch as part of a very long travel day. It was right around lunchtime and we could not get a table inside that wasn't a high-top. Being 98 and about 4' 7" - a high-top table was not an option. So, the hostess graciously seated us outside under an umbrella. The sun was hot, but Auntie was completely covered and comfortable. My back was a bit warm in the direct sun, but I survived. The service (also handled by our hostess) was very friendly, attentive and efficient. When she noticed our table was wobbly, she ran right inside to get a wedge so we could be more stable. Our drink order was taken quickly, and our food came in a very timely manner. I got "The Godfather" with truffle fries; Auntie, a chicken parm sandwich with sweet potato fries (i believe) - both meals were fresh and delicious. Auntie is still talking about how much she enjoyed hers - even a week later. It turned out to be a long but lovely day on the road, and The District made it all the nicer for us. Should we be back in the neighborhood, we'll plan ahead with a reservation so we can see inside next time. read more

The food was really good, they have many unique options which makes it easy to enjoy. The service is pretty good. The only down side was the drinks don't look like they do on their Instagram so if you like to snap pics and post them like me, you won't really get the full effect as the pictures are much better than the actual in person drink. Like my drink was suppose to come with a cinnamon rip & a diced apple it didn't come with either just a drink in a cup! No fun! & didn't taste the best. But the food is GREAT!! I have been to The District 2 times and both times I didn't have such a great experience. First time I went with my friend we both shared the caesar salad and bruschetta with 2 drinks a piece. By the morning we both woke up feeling ill with food poisoning. We wouldn't have assumed it was the food if it wasn't for the fact we both had food poisoning coincidentally after eating there. So that wasn't exactly fun. Next time we went 2 weeks ago the service was awful. It was a Thursday night not too busy, but our waitress could give 2 craps that we were even there. First we came in and sat ourselves at a high top table and waited to have a waitress acknowledge us for about 8 minutes. Once we did get her attention she took our drink order then didn't come back to take our food order for 10 minutes. We both ordered appetizers and a side of fries. Food didn't really take that long to come, but once she brought it out to us it was cold. She brought us the food then once again disappeared for who knows how long. My friend and I had wanted to order more drinks, but said screw it we cashed out and just left to go somewhere else. I guess maybe this was just a bad night. Who knows if I will try again, but there's too many other good spots in Providence to honestly go back. Parking is pretty good if you can grab an on street spot or even park across the street in the big lot. read more

We are here to take our daughter to brown. And staying at an Airbnb around the corner from the district. We had reservations at different places for 5 days, and canceled all to just eat here. We had lunch the first day, I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the chicken parm. So good! Then for dinner we had the Piza and wedg. Best Piza ever! We are from San Diego ca. we have good Piza, but not like this. We went back the next night, and again tonight. The salads are all good. Meatballs and crab cakes are great. The service was superb. We were lucky enough to meet the owner who was so kind. Going back for Sunday brunch tomorrow to show this place off to our daughter. I'm sure that the food will be just as good. We were driving back to New York from Massachusetts & stopped at The District in Providence for a late lunch. There was the bar as we entered and then we stepped down to another cue area to be seated. We got seated right away. Ann gave us a few suggestions. I ordered The Godfather Sandwich ... being a vegetarian, I requested to substitute the prosciutto for avocado which was perfect. Didn't know how the mascarpone cheese & fig would taste but Ann suggested to try it. Really enjoyed the sandwich. It was really tasty & filling. The bread was some flaked pita. Liked it. Hubby ordered The Prosecutor, fried chicken sandwich with chipotle sauce in a brioche bun. He said it wasn't bad. We also enjoyed the fries & sweet potato fries. This last visit to the District was OK. The grilled salmon entree was a very tiny dish and my double order of fresh veggies seemed more like just one. The Meatball sandwich was large and nice, but the meatballs were not very flavorful. They were ok, but many other restaurants in the city have better tasting meatballs. The truffle fries that came with the sandwich were really good...crispy, flavorful, nicely done. When we got the check, we realized that one of the items rang higher than the price on the menu. I told the waitress and she asked the manager to change. Check your bill to make sure you are getting charged the correct amount. read more

This place is super neat and fairly new since it's only been open since December 2016. The decor is rustic and chic, I was most impressed with the beautiful floors and decor - even the bathroom was stunning. Every inch of this space was carefully thought out and I appreciated the ambiance this created. Menu items are named in a tongue-in-cheek way based off of the local neighborhood area - specifically the jewelry district and proximity to the courthouse. I enjoyed reading through the menu and seeing all the tasty combinations of flavors. You won't find another place like this in this part of town - it's a hidden gem! We split the meatball appetizer AND the mac and cheese appetizer - which were both amazing - and they would also be the perfect size for a "kids meal" portion if you had a little one with you. We also ordered two pizzas and had a hard time deciding which ones to try so we took the recommendation of our server as to what was the most popular (pink vodka) and which one was her favorite (chicken bacon ranch) The food was tasty and perfectly seasoned, I was super impressed and can't wait to return to try some more menu items. read more

The only thing I don't like about this place is that they never have tables and they be empty lol I know people have reservations but I think they should leave a few tables for walk ins. I came here to destress after work tonight with my roommate after reading all of the positive reviews. But this was honestly an awful experience. We entered and had to wait 5 minutes to be seated. Three different people came up to us and asked how many were in our party. We kept telling them there were 2 of us. Finally we get seated on a random wall. We were seated at a small table that hardly fit two plates. The ambiance was terrible - we were right near an exit door and the front door (which kept opening and making us freezing cold). We had to wear our coats the whole time! There was also just nothing really decorative or nice to look at, at all. We ordered two glasses of wine ("Kung Fu Girl" Riesling) to start. We then got (10 minutes later) water and one glass of wine. The waitress didn't bring out the second glass of wine until 11 minutes later and THEN finally took our order. The food took forever to come, which we expected. Not once did the waitress check in to apologize or update us on the wait time. My friend and I both ordered the Not Guilty (a veggie burger with vegan garlic aioli, lettuce and tomato). The veggie burger tasted like something you'd eat in a hospital. Seriously. The worse one I've ever had. Bun was dry. We also ordered truffle fries, which did not taste like truffle fries at all. It's like they just fried them a ton and then dropped some truffle oil on top. But you could barely taste it. Felt like a waste of $1.50 extra for the "truffle" added to the fries that came with the burger. I will definitely not come here again. ALSO when we asked for more ketchup, all they brought us was another tiny cup of it. That was not nearly enough for the two of us and we were expecting an entire bottle! Would've said something about it but the waitress ran off so fast and didn't appear for another 10 minutes. Ridiculous. read more

I absolutely loved what I got. I thought they had great decor. I thought it was a great spot, and the service was amazing!

Food was basic and mediocre. Maybe they were having an off night but the pizza was overdone and rubbery. This is a pass for me.

The second time I came was much more recent, just about one month ago. The service was significantly better than my first experience as the server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. This time, I came for dinner so the menu was different. My friend and I decided to split a large pizza, half margherita and half meatlovers. The meatlovers was great, really flavorful but not overwhelming with the toppings. The margherita was less impressive. The flavor was there but it was a bit bland and I would have preferred the tomatoes to be cooked a bit more thoroughly. Overall the second experience was much better, I'm wondering if that is just due to more experience, as this restaurant was opened for just a few months when I came the first time. read more
