Honest rating is about a 3.5. The food was tasty but nothing too out there with flavors. The portions are also pretty large so we left full to the brim. The service was quick and nice. Grateful that they were able to seat us at 10pm even though they close at 11. When we arrived, I didn't realize it would be a restaurant connected to a hotel so it seems many people there were there for a work trip. Overall it's a small quiet place that provides decent food.

After several years of holiday travel, and then some medical issues that have really put a strain on my partner, we chose to stay home for Thanksgiving and looked for a place to have dinner. Public did an amazing job in providing a traditional Thanksgiving meal. It appeared that a couple of employees called out sick so the staff was running around pretty hard, however our meal was simply superb. Our server was a great human!! I chose the Thanksgiving plate while my partner chose the New England cod, both of which were outstanding. Two appetizers, two entrées, two drinks, and a shared dessert. with tip was $200 out the door. I'm not sure we would do it again next year as family pressures will have us traveling somewhere halfway across the globe, but I would recommend this to people who either Need a break from family or our traveling through town. Thanks to a great team!!

We stopped in for a drink before going to dinner at our hotel. I enjoyed an extra dirty martini with blue cheese olives and my boyfriend had a bourbon on the rocks. My martini was perfect! The food menu also sounded delicious! There's also an awesome giant mirror right before you walk in that is perfect for photo ops! The bartenders were very kind and attentive. We left our coat on the chair when we left for dinner and they kept it safe until the following day. This restaurant gives classic basements diner vibes BUT make it fancy! We would love to come back and try the food!

Such a great breakfast spot! Our waitress was amazing and offered to mix cinnamon into the batter for me because I mentioned how much I liked it. The ambiance is super nice and the tables are well spaced out!! The pancakes with cinnamon honey butter are absolutely incredible. Can't recommend enough! Also super close to Providence Place Mall. It's in a hotel (I think?) but anyone can eat there and it has its own entrance. Just note it closes until dinner time at 11:00 am!!

Remarkably bad pancakes and terrible coffee. Not much open in the area on Sunday in this part of town, but would literally rather stop eating and get trail mix or something in the hotel. The pancakes were rubbery, and I've literally had previously frozen pancakes that had a better consistency and tasted far better. Maple syrup is just corn syrup and they don't know the difference. That always upsets me in New England. Staff was friendly, but rushed with maybe six tables occupied. I'd hate to see this place busy.

What a wonderful evening at the Public Kitchen and Bar. We were seated at a lovely round booth by the very pleasant host and manager and were able to talk comfortably. Our wonderful server, Lindsay was patient and helpful as we tried to decide between a number of menu items. The menu is brimming with a wide array of appetizers including several inviting salads, and pizzas. It was a challenge to make a choice but we decided to share the phenomenal fig and prosciutto pizza, consisting of goat cheese, truffled arugula, caramelized onion, and just the right amount of a honey/ balsamic glaze. It was delightful. Our next course was the perfectly prepared spinach salad. The balance of the generous amount of candied walnuts, gorgonzola, poached pears, and balsamic dressing created a very tasty and healthy treat! And, then, the main event, our entrees, were beautifully presented and equally delicious. My entree choice was spectacular, the house brined pork tenderloin which was served with dijon whipped mashed potatoes and topped with scrumptious sugar snap peas and a pineapple demi-glaze. WOW! Couldn't finish that generous portion, but am really looking forward to tomorrow's meal as is my husband when he finishes his savory Rigatoni al Forno Bolognese with meatballs, and Italian sausage in a pink vodka sauce all baked with Italian cheeses. Although there was little room for dessert, my husband could not resist the key lime pie and as I stole a bite or two, I was quite happy that he did order it!! Great food/excellent chef, lovely atmosphere, and definitely a staff of friendly people.

Public bar is hidden inside the beautiful Renaissance hotel. The decor is unlike any other restaurant, very cool and modern. I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of white wine and the salmon. Service was very fast and Kristen the bartender was super nice! The salmon came with spinach and fingerling potatoes which were roasted to perfection. I recommend anybody in the downtown Providence area to give this place a try!

Love the atmosphere. Great service. Steve at the bar has been here for 10 years. Does a great job. Not too many places have a GM that works every day. Christopher is unbelievable always making sure everybody's taking care of. And the food is up to par. I have eaten here a few times because of the events at the auditorium next door. So I can attest to the consistency. Enjoy.

After having the opportunity to try two different meals at this hotel restaurant (breakfast and lunch), I can say this place, while nothing phenomenal, is passable as far as hotel restaurants go. They're also unsurprisingly expensive (it's attached to a Marriott, what did you expect?). The breakfast was decent enough. The eggs were fine, though I kinda wish I had gotten them scrambled just to see how that would have turned out. The bacon was crisp the way I like, the hashbrowns were...unexpected. Like those ones you get from the frozen food section of the grocery store, only triangle shaped (okay then?). Unfortunately, the toast was dry. And thick. Speaking of which.. The lunch: my friend got something called "the adult grilled cheese". Though it looked a lot more like bread sandwiches to me. Honestly, I got full just looking at her plate. Of course, it didn't really help that I ordered the double decker; a burger so tall, a guy could get a nose bleed trying to reach the top of the bun. It should have set alarm bells off in my head when they never asked how I wanted my burger cooked. This is usually the sign of, "oh, we cook all our burgers well done like hockey pucks because f*ck you!". As you probably guessed, I never finished that burger. It was superfluous both in size and price, not to mention over cooked and under seasoned. Besides, the highlight of the whole meal was the New England clam chowder. My Gawd!! Between the whole clams (shell and all!) resting cozily inside the well mixed chowder broth, to the freshly cut potatoes, I was one exhilarated Yankee! My friend was equally impressed. So overall, the clam chowder was a 9 out of 10 for me, the breakfast a 7 out of 10, that bread sandwich....eh...I dunno (I wasn't about to shove that many carbs into my pie hole and risk dying of insulin shock), and the burger was like a 3 out of 10. I'm gonna give Public Kitchen & Bar 3 nostalgic Yankees appreciating a savory bowl of fresh clam chowder out of 5. It's fine as a place to eat or get room service from, should you be stranded in your hotel room for whatever reason. Until, that is, you realize The Cheesecake Factory is literally walking distance from the side entrance.

Do they still offer a brunch buffet - will there be one on Father's Day?

I am unsure of a buffet for Father's Day but they do have sit down breakfast entrees. I suggest that you call the restaurant after 4pm at area code 401 -919 - 5050.

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

It feels like her place in the best way -- warm, proud, hands-on. Pastries are legit. Super buttery, flaky enough to make a mess, clearly baked that morning. No sad, sitting-around-all-day vibes. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and that tomato jam needs to be illegal. Sweet, savory, slightly tangy -- it completely makes the sandwich. I kept trying to figure out how to recreate it at home. Not happening. Crispy chicken sandwich was properly seasoned and not dried out (why is that so hard for some places?). Fries were solid too -- crispy, not limp. And the kale salad with roasted chickpeas and chicken made me feel like I had my life together. Fresh, simple, and actually satisfying. It's one of those places you stumble into while traveling and then immediately start googling whether you can justify going back the next day.
