I LOVE this place. It is absolutely gorgeous for a Sunday brunch, with its tall ceilings and open layout, nautical theme not overdone, and the back end of the restaurant facing the dock. The servers are attentive and very warm, and the food is phenomenal. We had shared the eggs benedict and french toast, and had iced coffees and their hibiscus mimosas. Everything was great, and the eggs benedict with proscuitto was already split for us, which made sharing between two people so much easier. The french toast was light and came with a blueberry jam/compote kind of thing, and syrup, and berries, and was just such a perfect little brunch dessert. The mimosas were also delicious, with the hibiscus adding an additional element to the ordinary mimosa. I would 100% come back. read more

Bottom line first: excellent food, fair prices for the quality, nice views, and excellent service. We were here for a business meeting. Perhaps due to the fact that we made an OpenTable reservation in advance, we were seated promptly. I ordered the fresh Dock lemonade; initially, I was a little frustrated by the small glass for $6, but it was reasonably tasty. Plus, I didn't get to finish it through the meal and never had a chance to ask for a refill. For the Sunday brunch, we started with the Dock gravalax. It was pretty good, but not spectacular. However, for the second course, both the short rib chili omelette and the cold water lobster were awesome. The sides (salad and toast) that came with the omelette were perfect complements to the main dish. The short ribs and chili were filling but shockingly not too heavy. Finally, the chocolate ganache (the house specialty) provided a good finish as well. The service was top notch. Not only was our server courteous and made excellent recommendations, the house was also not too pushy when we had more conversation after we finished our meal. It was nice enjoying the scenery, with a few megayachts go by during our stay, along with seeing two parties come in by boat to enter the restaurant. It was a pretty cool place to hang out. Having to find and pay for street parking (7 days a week!) was the only negative, but that's par for the area. We will definitely be back. read more

I was the lucky 1 to pick the brunch destination this week. I found this place on Yelp. Despite living in the OC for numerous years, I never knew this existed. It's tucked away from the main drag of Newport Blvd. You have to park at the meters which only give you 15 minutes per quarter and they run 7 days a week. We arrived at 10:45ish and even though the place is tiny, there was hardly anyone in there. The view is amazing as you can watch the Duffy boats and kayaks go by. The whole place is decorated in a classy coastal chic that is comfortable without being stuffy. The service was great from the front desk, to the waitress, and support staff. I ordered the $12 tuscan chicken sandwich from the brunch menu. It was good, but I should have trusted my instincts and had a breakfast item. The rest of the party ordered breakfast and I felt oh so left out. I thought the drinks were pricey! Who do we talk to about going bottomless? Yum. read more

It was our first time at The Dock and celebrated our anniversary there. What a spectacular evening! We were welcomed and seated at a nice table and immediately met our amazing waitress Danielle. She was very knowledgable about the Rose wine selection and even upgraded our bottle to the Domaines Ott for the price of the wine that we ordered that was no longer in stock. I love, love, LOVE this place!! I made reservations for my moms birthday and everything was perfect. Despite it being partially outdoor because of the piers view, it was not cold at all. They have heated seats and heaters on the top. The view was perfect, and the ambiance was so calm and romantic. Our server was so sweet and kind, and made sure to remember to surprise my mom with a birthday dessert at the end. Not to mention, the food was excellent too. This place really change my moms perspective of fine dining, since her previous experiences were not great. I have eaten at the dock many times both take out and in person during the pandemic. I have been supporting this local small business for over ten years, even what it was "Le Quai." Throughout it's existence, this small business has been and remains the standard for fine dining in Newport Beach. Harvey S.'s review is laughable. The dock requires you to wear a mask from the host stand to the table, which is maybe about ten yards. Any person young our old could hold their breath and walk to a table without even straining. This pandemic is serious. The Dock understands that, and for the sake of protecting ALL of its patrons, requires masks in common areas of the restaurant. Did Harvey S. present a doctors orders? Note of confirmation? No. In these very serious times, "explaining" you can't wear a mask isn't going to cut it. Had Harvey S. presented any legitimate order of a doctor instead of asking a the restaurant to blindly trust a man who is in their eyes breaking the law by not wearing a mask, I'm sure they would have read a consensus. AND MAY I REMIND YOU AGAIN THE AMOUNT OF TIME THEY REQUIRE YOU TO WEAR A MASK FROM HOST STAND TO TABEL IS LESS THEN 30 SECONDS. The takeaway you should have from Harvey's post and this is how responsible and protect The Dock is for all its guests. How dare anyone have the nerve to call the police (who didn't do anything because Harvey's behavior is absurd) and ask others to boycott this restaurant. This place is a hidden gem. On the outside it doesn't look like much but the inside is elegant, nicely decorated and has a great ambiance. My husband had a cocktail that was perfection. The bread came out warm and was amazing. The calamari appetizer was different then what we have ever seen. It was not fried it was pan seared and just to die for. I would go back just for that. It is easy to find, the decor is spectacular, the hostess was friendly, the waitstaff was ok but slow, the food was delicious! I have to start with the views. They are amazing. You feel like you're eating on boat. The restaurant is small, inimate and cozy. The breeze off the water is great! The coffee is STRONG! What more can you want? We went for a Saturday brunch. We tried the omlette, huevos rancheros, and french toast. It was all great, very fresh, flavorful and beautiful! Portions are just right - not too big and not too small. Perfect for a lazy summer morning brunch! I chose from a two course $25 per person brunch menu. I had an arugula salad with ham for my starter (definitely sounded more appetizing on the menu) as well as a grilled prawn dish, which was amazing. What a quaint find. We went for a joint family birthday and we were able to easily find metered parking right across the street and another car parked down the street. The street is also off to the side so there weren't a lot of people or cars along the street. We went in and it wasn't even that busy. It looks a bit dated from the outside. Hasn't anyone seen that "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" episode where they just wanted to banish those weird 80s looking glass walls? No one should EVER have that in their decor. Especially in a nice area like Newport. Anyways, the design looked a lot more modern inside. We were seated right in the middle and it worked out great. Our little one was a well behaved baby as long as he was fed. They have the pre fixe option for Sunday brunch which meant one side and one entree for $30 per person. I ordered the couscous salad (which I could feed to the little one) and the duck hash for my entree. The couscous salad was beautifully dressed with feta, olives and pomegranate seeds. It was delicious! The entree was a nice duck leg dressed with broccolini, potatoes, and a well poached egg. I made the mistake of eating all the sides around me, then the duck. If you don't eat the duck with the sides, the duck itself was way too salty. Guess it should've come with instructions. At the end, we all shared a delicious pineapple cake with fresh raspberries and a dollop of coconut ice cream on the side. There were also corn muffins being passed around at each table. Everyone including the little one really enjoyed it. Not too sweet and wonderfully moist. The wait staff was wonderfully patient and provided wonderful service. High recommended. read more

We ordered the Brussels sprouts (so tasty and perfectly cooked) & Ecuadorean prawns (really fresh & large in size). Hubby had monkfish which he loved and I had the short ribs (to die for delish & big portion) with the polenta - a nice surprise as it tasted like mashed potatoes -- yum! A bit pricey so be sure to make this a special occasion dinner or brunch spot. There is no bar inside but you can order a glass of wine while you wait...they don't serve beer or liquor FYI. This was my second time at the dock and the location was just as good as I had remembered. The hostess was very accommodating and nice and the owner came up to us to make sure everything was tasting good.. However- we had the same waiter as last time who was unfortunately not very friendly at all. I was also looking forward to eating the appetizer muffins served before brunch but he forgot to bring these out for us. We came for Mother's Day so it was a fixed three course meal for 75 a person which is too expensive for any meal, in my opinion. Our entire experience at this restaurant was a 14/10. From the service, food, and wine selection, everything was perfect. Our server, Danielle, was very attentive and gave wonderful recommendations for wines (and even brought out multiple wines for us to taste so we could pick which wine went best with our meal!). I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the sea bass, both incredible and filling portion sizes. When they found out my boyfriend and I were celebrating a special occasion, they brought out a delicious dessert on the house (I believe it was a chocolate grenache tart). The restaurant was COVID safe, all seating outside, everyone in masks, limited seating, and even plexiglass between tables. Overall, a lovely experience and hidden gem in Newport Beach! Summary - delicious food with a great view, fine dining, incredible wait staff, would highly recommend the peaches and burrata, lamb, short ribs, and chocolate tart. 10/10 This restaurant was recommended to us by our vacation rental company and boy did it not disappoint. We showed up at night, and honestly that is probably a good thing, the old, wanting exterior of the restaurant very much hides what is a fine dining experience in the back. Upon walking through the front of the restaurant you are greeted by a small dining space with seating for about fifty, all looking out on the beautiful bay. Upon taking our seats we were greeted by an absolutely chipper waiter who walked us through the menu. (I forget his name, but he was part owner of the nearby Fryes Market, also worth a visit). We knew we were going to be in for a treat and the food did not disappoint. We started with the charred romaine salad. The char gives the romaine just enough of a bite to differentiate it from a more traditional Caesar. Not super special, but still fresh and delicious nonetheless. We proceeded to the roasted peach and burrata salad. This was a dream of a flavor combination that I have never thought of before, but that works incredibly well. Coupled with the brown butter vinaigrette, I would highly recommend this starter. For my main course I had the red wine braised short ribs. These were incredibly tender, and the gnocchi mac and cheese paired so well. It was not sloppy, but a clean and very well put together plate. Two oy my family members had the halibut and it was light, flaky, and perfectly cooked. It was served with an interesting pesto that was almost thick and creamy like a green butter. Not my thing personally, but I can understand the pairing and all plates were left empty. The last entrée we had was the lamb. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, not gamey tasting at all, and was definitely a highlight of the evening. While the chef cuts the meat from the bone and serves the pieces separately, the bones were still setup on the plate making for a welcoming presentation. Finally, for dessert we had the chocolate tart. It is a thick dark chocolate ganache, served with an almond crust and fresh hazelnut ice cream. Hazelnut is not really my thing, but the tart itself was a delicious chocolate hit, not too heavy, and great for sharing with the family. Definitely a must! Also worth noting, we had two more people come join us about 1.5 hours into our meal, the chef, waiter, and manager were more than accommodating of their luggage and provided them with the same stellar service. We took the table for 3 hours and enjoyed the entire evening! read more

We ordered the pork belly and romain salad as appetizers and they were both superb. We also ordered the scallops with beef ribs and halibut as our entrees. Both were amazing. Even my picky foody husband was impressed with the flavor and presentation of his dish. The wine selection was great and I ordered a bottle of the perfect wine that is exactly what my palate wanted. The food was amazing, we ordered a Belgian waffle, steak sandwich, and eggs Benedict with salmon... all of our plates were licked clean! We also had a table right next to the dock so the view was great! Our server was attentive and extremely nice. Only downfall is the non alcoholic beverages are too pricey, even my hotel pool is cheaper (and we all know hotel pools up the prices). $6 for a small iced tea is a bit much. We came to The Dock for Father's Day and it was a wonderful venue to celebrate at. The atmosphere is really unique for the area with the small size and waterside view. We probably saw fifteen boats go by in the first few minutes we we there. Food quality was outstanding. For the holiday it was a fixed menu and I had the hamachi with watermelon for an appetizer and the lamp chops for the entree. The hamachi was fresh and light with high quality ingredients, but the real show stopper was the lamb. The smokey flavor they infused in the meat was one of a kind and something I'd go back for. They also had a killer bloody mary if you're into such things ;) The only downside was the price which I think was a little inflated. I usually think a nice fixed menu brunch should be around $40 with mimosas or something included...and The Dock's was $50 with no drinks. The price brings the rating to a 4 instead of a 5 star affair. read more
