Came in on 6/14 for my dogs 7th "gotcha day. It was my first time coming into this bakery and was not disappointed. Customer service was great, I was able to purchase a custom grain free cake for Molly's sensitive tummy and she loved it! She's also an extremely picky eater so I was worried it would have been a waste, but it definitely wasn't. It took about 10 minutes to be ready and I was told all the specifics on storing the leftovers. I'll definitely be back!

This pet shop/bakery is very cute and I was able to get a birthday cake for my dog's first birthday. You're able to customize and order it online and I loved being able to see the mock up online before I purchase. I also bought some dog cookies for my dog and his doggie friends. I didn't try the cookies but it smelled delicious! My dog loved everything and I would highly recommend the dog bakery. There is street parking near the shop and it wasn't too bad finding parking!

Stumbled upon this bakery while out walking. The outside was so intriguing I just had to check it out lol. I love the whole vibe as soon as you enter. A bakery for dogs and they freshly bake everything. It's not just a bakery but it's also a pet store. Looks like they have everything you need for your dog and then some too. I definitely recommend this place and I'm definitely coming back with all 3 of my girls.

I Don't Even Have a Dog... I came here with a friend who was picking up treats for her pup -- and now I want to buy goodies for every dog I know! I've walked by this place so many times, and it always smells incredible (honestly, I wish they made treats for humans -no joke!) The staff was so friendly and really knowledgeable. They have an amazing selection of homemade treats baked right there! I was impressed by how many options they offer for dogs with dietary restrictions. My friends pup was older with lots of stomach issues and the staff pointed out several great options. If you're a dog owner -- or just a dog lover like me -- this place is an absolute must.

What a cute bakery! I was in LB and saw the bakery so stopped in for some snacks for my pup. They have prepackaged snacks as well as items baked in house - both cookies and cake options. I mentioned my dog had allergies and right off the bat the staff kindly pointed out options that my dog could consume. I ended up getting the half dozen box and they threw in a few samples for my pup to try. Got home and my pup gobbled a treat. She had a second yesterday. The price per biscuit wasn't too bad and they are discounted if you purchase half a dozen or dozen. Super cute designs. Definitely worth a visit.

Went into the store yesterday at 10am was the first customer in their right after they opened their doors. It was my dogs 6th birthday. Originally I planned on getting her a couple small caked goods like I have a few times before over the years but decided to spring for their smallest size cake. The girl who helped was really nice but didn't seem to be able to give me too many ingredient details regarding allergies. Said no worries it's a special occasion, got the cake and was told it could last on the counter for a week and 2 weeks if put in the fridge and longer if frozen (I wasn't planning on keeping the cake past the week because I'm careful with my dogs diet). She told me the cake is frozen and should be left at room temperature for at least 15 minutes before serving, I waited 2 hours. My dog is a mini Aussie Shepard, I let her lick off some of the frosting and cut her a small piece. Despite how small the piece my dog began choking. I realized how dry the cake was when I cut into it so I broke it into smaller pieces thinking it would help and she still kept choking and coughing. I took the rest away and my gut told me to toss the rest of the cake. The rest of the night my dog suffered from bad diarrhea and frequent urination. It's been a day and the diarrhea has persisted all day today and my dog has had 2 urinary accidents. I also received an email over 24hours after the purchase at 4:30pm today from the bakery titled "Your dog's cake - here's what you need to know" with detailed instructions of how to defrost, handle, store the cake, how much to feed your pets. Almost none of which matched what the girl told me. This should have been given to me at the store not a day later by email and I'm worried about my dog and am currently monitoring her to see if her issues persist. Its very discouraging and disappointing, the dryness of the cake was incredibly dangerous which makes me question the age and quality of the product I was given and despite how kind and helpful this girl was, the lack of knowledge and information could also be dangerous. I've gotten small pastries here for years and haven't had a problem before but am a but after this experience I won't be returning out of caution. Will update this review if my dogs condition gets worse.

My sister had a birthday party for her dog and I got him a cake from here. I was able to pick it up same day basically walk in and pick one from the 3 different cake shapes they offer and pick the flavor too. I went with the bone shape and original cake flavor with a white frosting and peanuts on the rim. I know it's a dog cake for dogs but I tasted it, it tasted like the bottom of a tart cake like more bland and the dogs LOVED it, the frosting tasted like real frosting. All dogs enjoyed it. Parking is street parking since it's on 2nd, I made multiple turns around and finally parked in the alley and walked in.

There's no better way to celebrate year #9. I'm still in shock that I've spent close to a decade with my aussie. I knew we had to celebrate her birthday this year with something special. Enter: The Dog Bakery. Standing outside this Long Beach pet store you'd think they were crafting up human-grade desserts from the smell alone. This bakery is completely STACKED. They offer everything from birthday-themed baked goods to the most cutesy toys. There's candles, custom cakes, and even birthday hats for your doggo's next celebration. They even have photo opps for you and your best friend. I ended up grabbing a few cupcakes and a large salmon fish skin. Both were Sheila approved. In fact, I'm pretty sure she swallowed the cupcake whole. I know I'll be back in the future. Sheila won't stop talking about this place.

I came here last month, in August, it was my dogs birthday the next following day. I wanted to get him a little cake. But instead I got him some mini cakes. Super cute! Prices were reasonable. The staff are very attentive, welcoming, and kind. Very helpful as well. I definitely would recommended folks to come here if they're looking for a beautiful cake or treat to celebrate for their pups! I would def come back if I'm back in town! I've heard of The Dog Bakery before as they're super well known for their birthday cakes and they're all over Instagram. It was my dog's 3rd birthday and I was looking to get her a special treat but I wasn't looking to buy a birthday cake as I think it's way too big to split between even 2 dogs. I'll contemplate it again when she hits a special milestone like 5 years old but I did want to check out the store to see what else they offered so I thought I'd give it a shot. Parking: it's all street parking on 2nd street and most of them metered unless you park more into the residential neighborhood. Even though it's metered, they give you a free 15 min grace period if you're just looking to pick up quickly so that was super nice! Store: walking in, the bakery item goods were on the right side on the counter and on the left were of dog accessories, toys and packaged goods. I didn't browse for anything else other than baked items as that's what I came looking for. They had really cute cupcake sized treats as well as cookies. They include grain free items if your dog has a grain allergy so every dog can get a treat! I opted for the 6 item bundle value was $21 and it was discounted for $16ish. I picked up the carrot cake, the burger, the whoopie pie, the PB bone cupcake, a grain free bar and 3 cake pop bites. It was a special occasion so I felt the bundle value was super worth it not to mention the treats are decorated so cute! Taste: my dog absolutely devoured them so needless to say, she absolutely enjoyed it! Highly recommend this place if you're looking to spoil your dogs. I'll be coming back for more! read more

This place is the best!! I love spoiling my pup every now and then with a special treat, so I love that this place has yummy baked treats. I got their PB cake and carrot cake -- both were a hit! And decently priced too for I think $3.50 each. I will definitely bet getting more treats if I'm in the area :) read more

Yes he loves this place!!! We stopped by here after eating dinner near by and our dog loved his treats. They bake the little cute treats into some moist delicious snacks for our babies. UPDATE AFTER POSTING REVIEW: Took the cake out from the fridge because we were going to take some fun Barkday photos at the beach...well now the entire cake is cracked everywhere!!! Now I'm just upset... ---------------------------- Looks like I should have read some reviews before purchasing and I left pretty disappointed with our purchase... What happened to the cakes?! They're so FLAT now!! I've purchased a cake from the LA location a while back and they used to be thicker and looked like a cake - now it's like they cut that cake in half and using the top 1/2 and bottom 1/2 as 2 separate cakes.... I was so excited to purchase a cake to celebrate my pups big 10th birthday (it's TODAY 10/6/24 - YAY!!) Called in yesterday to ask if they had any pre-made cakes which they luckily they did so I decided to order one (thinking I'd receive a nice thick cake like my previous purchase). When I arrived to pick it up I was definitely surprised when I saw the display of pretty underwhelming sample cakes... But ours was already paid for over the phone and custom message written on the cake so I took it. Leaving the store my husband was even shocked and had mentioned that for the price customers are paying for these cakes you'd expect more or better quality (I agree). I unfortunately will not be returning to The Dog Bakery for future cakes, taking this as a loss ;( read more

Wanted to thank the staff of the Belmont location The Dog bakery this is my first time that I ever bought a birthday cake for my pup. She is two years old and wanted to celebrate her one-year anniversary from being adopted from a shelter but this is her second birthday. The location was so gorgeous I was so amazed my pup got a free birthday jerky which she definitely loved and thank you to the staff as they said I have the best experience she loved her cake and her cousin loved it too. Our Rhodesian Ridgeback's celebrated her 2nd year birthday. I purchased the 6 cookie assortment box that I picked out. They have tons of great bakery deals, selection, and doggie items. The staff there was kind and helpful. The staff overheard my discussion with my husband about customizing the cheese bone cookie and actually did it for us instead. Great great customer service. I like the recommendation of blue icing because all my dog's decor was pink. The blue print popped out and my dog devoured that cookie! Love the shop and there are several dogs that stop by to get a free treat. The staff is so happy to give them to their patrons. Great environment and great selections. Love that we have a dog bakery right here in Belmont shores! I always stop by here when I'm in the area. My dog loves the treats here. Yes they are on the pricey side ($4.50 a pop, $17 for half a dozen, etc). But rent on second roof must be through the roof so they're accounting for that overhead. It's still a nice treat for your pup regardless! Staff is always friendly too. read more

To the owner of this location, please fix the air conditioner. It was terribly hot in there. I can't imagine working in that type of condition. Flies were all over the display case. I bought three cakes from this place over three years and usually had a great experience but this last time I decided to get the heart shaped cake instead of the bone and it is tiny. It doesn't even fill the box. It doesn't make sense to charge the same price for this tiny cake and the bone shape. $38.99?! I feel ripped off and the customer service was lacking today and instead of being warm when I came in I received a gruff attitude. I will never come here again. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Dog Bakery. My sweet girl ended up with a bowel obstruction and at the vet the day before her birthday. The amazing staff went above and beyond to remake the cake for her a few weeks later when she was feeling better and able to celebrate. This is our second year getting a cake from The Dog Bakery and we will most definitely be repeat customers. read more

I'm really upset with my purchase. I used to purchase birthday cakes and special treats from someone who baked out of their own kitchen. But we decided to try this place, The Dog Bakery, thinking it would be a great experience. I was terribly wrong. I'm adding photos of the cake I ordered (per the website's description) and a photo of the cake that I received. The cake doesn't match what I ordered. I purchased this beautiful cake topper because according to the website's description, I should have plenty of room for one. But the writing was so big (sloppy), i couldn't use the decorations. Also, I had a pastel theme party which should have been the writing on the cake but instead I got hot pink. Moreover, I couldn't feed it to my pups because it was sooo hard. I couldn't even cut smaller pieces so I'm thinking this was a very old cake. And I did follow instructions to leave cake out at least 20 minutes before. I also bought a bunch of sliders, and those were also hard. My husband had to use a knife and his hands to crumble and use as a topper instead. What a mess. read more

I have been coming here for my dogs last two birthdays to get them something special. They love the baked treats, and they love absolutely smelling everything in the store! They have a collection of baked goods and general treats for dogs that are good for your dog whether they have a sensitive stomach (like mine) or they can eat whatever. The price for a box is pretty good and your dog will love it. The staff has always been friendly, and they have always offered us samples when we walk in. On the weekends it can be a little hectic so if you have a dog that needs more space from other dogs, I would definitely wait until it clears out. This bakery is in the heart of Belmont shore a great area for also walking your dog! Thank you for always giving me and my dog amazing visit every time. Please support this business! read more

I ordered a dog cake mold and mix from Amazon for my pups first birthday/party. There were going to be 5 dogs in total but when the package arrived it was very small. I didn't have enough time to order a bigger one... so I started looking for a local doggie bakery, and that's when I found The Dog Bakery in LB. They had cute individual sized treats that were going to work out perfectly. I got the peanut butter treats for the party and one carrot cake for my pup to have later on. They were a big hit and fairly priced. The girls that were working on Saturday were very friendly as well. You can get cakes, treats, food, dog accessories and party accessories here. read more

My dog, Zelda, and I went to the bakery yesterday for the first time. The staff were welcoming, friendly,and helpful. The store was spacious and well stocked. I really appreciated the cleanliness as well. There was a huge selection of beautiful freshly made treats as well as prepackaged. I chose one that looks exactly like a hamburger. My dog loves their baked goods here so I try to stop by when on 2nd Street. Wide variety of baked treats of different sizes and ingredients, you can purchase it individually, half or the full dozen. I love how you can order them cakes! They sell other food items and other misc things like leashes, harnesses, clothes. Very friendly staff and I like how they have a point system with your phone number. Dog owners definitely should visit! read more

Came in for my first time to treat my pup and the guy working that nice was BEYOND nice! Before giving a sample to our dog, he asked of any allergies and I really appreciated that. He was super helpful since we were overwhelmed on the amount of goodies they had. The very first thing the female employee said to me was: "IS THAT A NUMBER 2? YOU CAN'T THROW THAT IN HERE!!!!!" Wow, I didn't know that's how retail employees are taught to greet customers. I didn't want to argue so I went out to the street to pitch the bag in the public trash bin. When I lifted Grandpa into the bathing station, he pooped in the tub and the same employee said, Oh he's doing a number 2. I had to ask if she had a bag to loan me because I couldn't leave him alone in the tub to get one in my car. Maybe I am sensitive but it was very clear this dog was struggling and hasn't been treated well his life. The lack of compassion from this woman was shocking. The only thing she could offer me was a stupid waterproof collar, to which I said we didn't need twice. The actual bathing station was very nice and I usually get my dog food there but the only knowledgable and kind store employee - an older short haired woman - have been there in the last year. At this point, most of experiences there has not been good. Time to get my dog food on Chewy.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with the dog bakery. I preordered a cake and drove an hour for pickup, only to discover they were closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Despite providing my contact information, I received no notification of their closure. The next day, after numerous attempts to contact the manager for resolution, I called the store for a refund. They informed me that I must come in person even though I prepaid over the phone. The whole experience was highly unprofessional and frustrating. The new staff at this store is AMAZING! Always so attentive to greeting us as we walk in the door and breaking down promotions they have going on. We just found out they have a program for free dog food after a certain amount of purchases. They also explained to us the different kinds of foods they carry and what they suggested for our dog. I was really happy with my visit. I'm more than sure the girl that helped me was the manager. And the gentleman that was working with her also seemed on top of his game.
