I stumbled into The Dog Bakery while walking around Old Town Pasadena and was surprised by how much they managed to fit into a relatively small shop. It's tucked away in Mills Alley just off Colorado Boulevard, so it feels a little hidden from the main stretch, but it's open pretty late for this kind of specialty store, from 10 AM to 8 PM every day. The bakery section was definitely the most interesting part. There were so many treats and flavors that I had never really seen at a normal pet store, and some of them genuinely looked like something you would find in a human bakery. They had decorated cookies, cupcakes/pawcakes, doughnuts, chews, and full birthday cakes, including cakes that can be customized for your dog. The cake options are surprisingly elaborate, with different shapes and toppings and flavors ranging from peanut and coconut to carob and even savory meat-based options. They also have grain-free and wheat-free recipes, which I thought was a nice touch. What I liked most was that it felt like an actual bakery for dogs rather than a pet store that happened to sell a few cute cookies. There was a proper display of fresh-baked treats alongside packaged treats and chews, and enough unusual varieties that it was genuinely fun to look through everything even though I wasn't shopping for a specific occasion. The rest of the store is packed with dog things too. There were lots of toys, birthday accessories, collars and leashes, packaged food and treats, and other little things you could pick up as a gift. It's basically a very complete little dog bakery and boutique despite not being a particularly large store. I can see why people come here specifically for dog birthdays. You could realistically walk in and leave with a cake, a few ridiculous little pastries, birthday accessories, and a new toy and have the entire celebration covered. Even without a birthday to shop for, it was one of those unexpectedly fun stores to wander into.

Today was Callie's special day, first birthday. We wanted to make it special for her so we came here for some treats. They have a good selection of baked treats and many other treats. We got her these and some dried cod skin. She loved all of it! The service was very good, little Callie even got a little treat when we walked in. Parking was free using the lot on just a block away (we were in and out pretty quick). There are nice places around if you want to get yourself a little treat as well.

Celebrating birthdays is not just for humans; it's also for your pets, who are pretty much your entire life. The Dog Bakery is located in Pasadena and I made an order online to pick it up at the store! The pickup was fast and overall I am super satisfied with the cake! The inside of the store was clean, and it also had snacks and pet accessories, so if you need to pick something else along the way, you got it covered. Sesame also enjoyed the cake and we had a fun birthday for her.

If you want a super happy dog like mine take them for a special treat at The dog bakery! My pups loved looking at and smelling everything in the store. They had a bowl of water for them too. This is our go to shop for the cutest doggy bakery items! We come every year for our girls birthday. Our dachshund is EXTREMELY picky, she only eats specific treats/food. However, she LOVES the treats from here! The shop is small & cute with a good selection of treats, bakery items, some toys & other dog essentials. Very friendly and helpful staff. The store has lots of toys and a great selection of pet foods and snacks. It is like a little doggie paradise store. My babies love coming here. Located on the bustling Colorado Blvd, this quaint shop has all the treats, goodies and supplies that every dog owner needs. My dog approved! I loved browsing their cookies and cake selections. Conveniently located in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, this bakery offers a variety of dog cakes for celebrations. For my dog's special 11th birthday I ordered him a round cake a day ahead online and the process with easy and straightforward. It is a bit on the pricier side granted only my dog would be eating the cake but the decor and presentation is great. They allow you to customize the colors, toppings and the shape. When I went to pickup the cake, the employee was friendly and helped me with my order even though I didn't have the receipt with me.

Ordered a cake online for my dog's 1st birthday. I was able to select shape, and customize color details & writing. I was notified when the cake would be ready and picked it up. It was a smooth pick up process - I was told to thaw it for 1-2 hours for consumption. The cake came out so cute! Since my dog is small, we had so much leftover, which I shared with another doggy friend and both dogs loved the cake. It is adorable as it is good! I personally did try it.. My dog loves the treats here! They look so good, I want to eat them too. Apparently they are fit for human consumption, so maybe one day I won't be able to contain myself anymore and I'll eat the carrot cake treat while my dog eats his cheesy bone. Only time will tell. We recently discovered this place because my son started taking boxing classes next door. We are already regulars. The staff have always been wonderful and very sweet to my dog, and able to answer any questions I have. Hi, Yes I'm taking my time write this shortly right after my purchase. Yolanda's customer service was saddening! First I called and ask for location - you can tell she was frustrated as she gave them and abruptly hung up. I was into the shop - she's helping a customer and once again you can tell she's frustrated (maybe you should t schedule her on a Saturday) secondly she gave so much attitude when helping me - -- how badly do they get treated at your store that they take their anger out with a customer? Thirdly, as we walked out we stopped across the way , perhaps 10 ft fr the shop and you hear the door from your shop slam shut. As I turned Yolanda made eye contact with me again seeming like she was frustrated. Yes I called and ask for manager and she says "...she won't be here but you can go ahead and email her about me." Giving me the impression that maybe you (Emily) has the same snobby attitude like her. And yes- I called her a bitch after asking if she was having a bad day. How horrible she treats customers. I'm so thankful that you were able to provide me with a cake for my dog last minute today! Unexpectedly, the original doggie cake we had SOMEHOW ended all over the floor, smashed and half-eaten yesterday. I have a slight idea who might have done it....there were crumbs all over the birthday boy's snout n paws! I called dog bakery and within 1 hour was walking out with a bone-shaped cake! The girl with really pretty blue eyes (I wish I got her name) was so sweet and helpful and totally friendly. She had my cake ready, decorated with my baby's name and everything. Even gave great recommendations for additional treats according to my dog's flavor preferences. I will absolutely be back. This place is great for novelty pup treats! We got the frozen yogurt from the frozen section and the pups ate it up! However the customer service left a lot to be desired, the woman working the counter was distracted the whole time we were in there didn't say hello or anything kept her head down and just told me my total, weird experience in a pet store where people are usually so excited to meet the dogs. They probably would have sold us more products if they were paying attention to us at all. read more

Every year when my American Eskimo celebrates his bday, I always get him a birthday cake :) I've ordered 3 cakes from Three Dog thus far, and have been impressed every time. He loved it, and the presentation was sooo cute! You can choose between peanut butter, carob, and carrot cake, and they personalize it with "Happy Birthday ______" The price is pretty standard for Pasadena, it's abut $20 dollars for a 5-inch cake, but I think it's definitely worth it, I mean who doesn't think their lovable furball deserves a birthday treat? Besides cakes, they also have 'pupcakes' and little treats that look adorable, and various toys and pet accessories; my dog loves this store! This is also one of the only dog bakeries that's still open till 8PM, which is perfect for those of you who work. It's located right in Old Town Pasadena; park in the Delacy parking structure on Colorado, and Three Dog is right next to Jake's Burgers in the alley way. If you're going to order a cake, you have to call ahead, but trust me, your dog will love you for it! :D read more

I always come here to buy special treats for my puppy! I recently came here to buy a birthday hat (which will last her whole life time since it has interchangeable numbers), and also a birthday cupcake! They sell most of their treats in pairs, so you can't mix-and-match which is a bummer, but it's ok because my puppy won't notice haha. Next time I want to bring my puppy in store and see if she wants anything herself! Haha read more

Just left 5 minutes ago. Highly disappointed with the customer service provided this morning. I came to pick up a pre-ordered, pre-paid cake that was boxed and ready to go but was told I needed to wait 10 minutes until a walk-in order was done being made and finished, which wasn't paid for. It took two seconds for her two hand me my order that was sitting a foot away from her; it could have been done with minimal interruption of the other customers. Have respect for customers' time. I ordered in advance because I have a tight schedule this morning. read more

Cute and fun place to get treats for your pups! I went in to get birthday goodies for my 6 year old lab. Treats were fairly priced and my dog loved them. However I also picked up a birthday hat while I was checking out thinking "oh just an extra $2 or $3 no problem" well I should have inquired about the price because it was $7!!!! That's a bit insane for a birthday hat. But my own fault because I didn't check and bought it anyway. Just be warned- buy a hat at the dollar store or cvs or something because damn! He looked great in his hat and enjoyed his treats. Staff was very kind and helpful and wished my dog a happy birthday. I'll be going back for special occasions. read more

This place has amazing treats and cakes for birthdays. I have purchased multiple cakes here for my two dogs and they always like them. They can be a little dry so I give them small pieces at a time. The 5 inch is $22.99. I don't like the location however it's kind of like in an alley so 4 stars for that since location is everything. Not to mention the horrible parking in Pasadena. You pre order the cakes just to make sure it's available. Also they have these boxes called barksgiving boxes that you preorder before thanksgiving that I have purchased for my dogs for about 24.99. From experienceI say get only one if you have two dogs cus it can be shared. I bought one for each at first and it was a lot but good thing my sister has dogs and I shared. They have this cool "dog beer" that's actually broth but it's pretty expensive per bottle...overall except for the horrible location and somewhat expensive prices it's a good place. read more

Such a cute little shop with all the goodies for your pups! Stumbled in here after having brunch in Old Town and just knew I had to pick up something for our pup. They have a great assortment of treats, both sweet and savory, as well as dog foods, toys, etc. On top of looking very cute, the treats were super delicious as well (of course, I'm only assuming this from my dog's reaction, I personally did not try them ). My dog absolutely loved the two peanut butter treats we brought back & I can't wait to come back and buy more to surprise him with!! Walked away with more than i had originally planned lol! Thats how awesome this place is. My puppy graduated from his first obedience school so thought he earned a treat. Looked up this place and thought id check it out. Everything looked so good,even i was tempted to eat it. Best thing,the owner is the founder of Dog for Dog. And organization that will feed a dog for every purchase made. They make this peanut butter for dogs that my pup goes crazy for! And to know that another dog is being feed in the process is amazing! I will shop here from now on for my training treats,just to do my part in helping those less fortunate dogs. And when u check-in u get a free PawCake! It arrived as expected, looked great, and I'm assuming tasted delicious because my dog went crazy! I got some party accessories with my order as well and they were adorable! There's a parking structure on De Lacey ave and the first 90 minutes is free. Staff was friendly and professional. We ordered the birthday cake online 2 days in advance and in store pick up was a breeze. The cake was frozen and it needed an hour to defrost. There are clear instructions on their website. Highly recommended! read more

I brought my baby in here and the girls were so friendly! One girl kept giving him treats even though he already got more than enough. We bought two treats (the cheesy bar & the PB one) and he loves both! We also bought their digestive & immunity jerky to help my boy with his stomach issues since he's just a pup. I'm sad I'm not from Pasadena otherwise I would come here more often. But definitely will go here next time I'm in town! read more

You know you come here a lot if your dog starts dragging you to the store whenever you're in Old Town. Teddy is a regular here. he comes weekly, if not bi-weekly. he loves the bully sticks...esp since they're easily accessible so we always end up leaving with one at least every two weeks. I also love that they carry a bunch of different fuzz yard products. the lovely ladies who work here are always sooo friendly to teddy and now recognize him lol. thanks for always being so nice to him and giving him tons of beef treats lol. read more

Really upset that I ordered my dog a 30$ cake from here in October and it was supposed to be delivered on Friday for his birthday. I understand COVID has affected shipping and delays, but if the cake is going to arrive late then what is the point in even giving your customers and option on what day to have it delivered. If I would've known this I wouldn't have ordered a cake from here period I would have just shopped locally. read more

We ordered a small cake for our dog's birthday and our experience was terrible. First, when we called to confirm pickup we were told the cake would be decorated with small bones and flowers. Nothing was on the cake except a simple Happy Birthday and they scribbled our dog's name wrong. We were not greeted when we picked up her cake and the woman behind the counter didn't want to interact with us despite happily assisting the other customers before us. The cake was very dry and our dog didn't touch it and went for fresh whipped cream instead. It was a total waste of money. We used to come here to purchase dog treats but won't be back again. read more

Im a regular here since i have a few dogs. They all love the treats here and the staff is always friendly. They are located in an alley by Jakes in Old town. They used to be called Three Dog Bakery but now i guess its just The Dog Bakery. My dogs favorites: the truffles, carrot cake, banana cream pie. Bonus: you get a stamp card and after you complete the stamp card, you get a free pupcake! read more

Right when we walked in the workers greeted us and immediately offered samples to my pup, asked about allergies or if she needed anything soft after noticing she was older. I called today to order a birthday cake and treats for my ten year old dog. The lady that answered was VERY rude! I just barely found out about this bakery and was excited to go, but after that phone call I am not going. I will be going to another dog bakery store, because I still want to get my dog a birthday cake. She sounded like she didn't even want to take my order. The attitude that I was recieving was extremely moody. I ended up just saying forget it and hung up. I dont understand why I was treated as if she did not want to take my order. I live closer to the Pasadena location but now I have to drive to a new one. I would really like the employee to treat her customers better. It really ruined my day. I was hoping for great service but instead I received really bad service where I couldnt even order. read more

Love getting my dog's birthday cake here every year. Super cute presentation and grain free options! Usually I get my dog the small peanut butter flavor but this past year I got the carob flavor. He loved both so much and its always really entertaining and gratifying to see him devour each slice. It stays well in the fridge up to a week so I would give him a slice a day. Come here for the cakes! You're dog will love it. Order ahead or they do have some cakes to pick up same day. The treats are a little pricey but my dog loves them so he gets some here and there. Update: This experience is based on online ordering using The Dog Bakery's website, and after speaking with employees at this specific location. Please use extreme caution when placing an online order from this business. An employee blatantly lied via a lengthy email saying my order was sent overnight with UPS, breaking from their USPS Priority protocol. I replied asking for tracking info which is standard with UPS. I was then emailed a tracking number from USPS, (obviously not overnighted by UPS). I received a phone call minutes later from a different employee who called to retract the original lengthy email, admitting they lied with no explanation for their actions. Beyond weird and dishonest. As I have recently received several items from the above order, I've adjusted my review as the business is not a total scam- just mostly a scam. The cake and 2 other items were inedible/unusable and sadly were not enjoyed by my pup due to the issues with shipping. I am still missing 2 items, (ordered 3 bones, and received one). However, a super cute toy and harness also came with, and I am happy with those. Goes to say I will not be using this business again, my pup deserves his treats! read more

A seriously sweet little dog bakery with friendly staff and adorable dogs coming in and out all day long. I stepped in for the first time, and I gotta say, I was digging the place. They've got toys, cleaning supplies, brushes, nail trimmers, treats, chews, and even those nifty little rolled up doggie bags that are small and convenient for when you take your dog on a walk. For a small store, this place packs a nice assortment of stock and treats. The staff is all smiles and are full of helpful suggestions, like what to have your dog try if you've never thought about giving them bakery treats from this place. I went with a set of three assorted Ruffles (truffle-like treats), and a guy stocking tiny cupcakes tossed a free one in for us. Our sheltie loved them all. We also picked up some tips for trying to keep our arthritic sheltie groomed (a highly difficult task!) and got to meet one of the staffers' shy sweet black and white sheltie. If you've got a pooch, there's nothing wrong with the occasional indulgence, so stop by! The prices are not at all bad on their bakery treats, it's great talking with enthusiastic people that love pets as much as you. Oh, and don't worry if someone eats one of your baked dog treats. The matcha latte was passable in my opinion as well, since the matcha doesn't stand out. A lot of oat milk was used in mine, which diluted most of the matcha. I guess stick to what they are good at. The standout of course is the chocolate croissant. It's quite flaky. Where the surprise comes in is that there seems to be a custard layer inside, along with melted chocolate around the outer parts of the croissant. It's a unique experience and recommend trying while it's hot.

The hostess was very apologetic and was trying to work out a solution which led to the Floor Manager (Karla) getting involved. We were eventually seated at another table, with the option to move should the other table become available. Karla then took the time to apologize for the wait and unfortunate first impression. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. I absolutely love this hidden gem! It is right in Old Town Pasadena down that little quaint alley way. The pastries look so delicious that I even wanted to try them. They actually told me I could if I wanted too! AWESOME! I had a chance to meet the store manager, Ruth. I came in looking to buy a couple cookies, and ended up trying out a raw dog food, a suggestion Ruth made. I am happy to say my dog absolutely loves his new Sojo's diet. Just moved my dogs off Eagle Pack Salmon formula and on to 3 Dog. They aren't particularly picky, but love they new Wheat Free Lamb formula. All dog owners can appreciate a food that gives their dogs good poops. This does! My boys also love the Peanut Mutter Cookies! I'm an annoying dog mom so I spent awhile picking flavors like Jojo even cares buuuuut they have an awesome variety (I went with peanut butter). I paid $25 for their smallest birthday cake which was a little pricey but definitely worth it for Jojo. She finished everything with no crumb left behind. read more

Great place to get a treat for your dogs, or in my case, my grandpups! They love the cookies from here. In particular, they love the peanut butter cookies and the cheese biscuit. Their cakes look great too! read more
