Both times I've been here, the service has felt very cold. I chose this place based on reviews stating they're very helpful & friendly BUT my experience was a stark contrast to the other reviews. I almost was wondering if it was a racial thing because the first time I came, they were very friendly with the other customer that was of caucasian descent but very cold and honestly a bit rude and condescending with me. My dog seems to like their cupcakes but I know I can find another decent, if not better doggy bakery in midtown. Also, I would check online before purchasing some of their items. I love coming here. The ladies are so helpful and really assisted when I was at my wit's end with my dogs not eating their food. They recommended a food and my dogs absolutely LOVE it. They also have bully sticks (another thing my dogs love, and go through quickly) and other treats, incredibly tiny harnesses (I have a small dog and finding a harness for her is close to impossible), and a slew of pet accessories that I wont let myself look at because I would buy them all. read more

We have been shopping at The Doggy Bag since about 2009 (starting at their Granite Bay location). Then about 5 years ago I was stoked to see that they had moved to a new location which was closer and much bigger. My staple items have always been treats/bully sticks and birthday goodies (namely the cupcakes). They are baked with dog friendly ingredients and make the occasion extra special. This cute doggie bakery boutique shop is located in the Safeway Shopping Center on Pleasant Grove Blvd. The store is larger than most boutique type shops and actually boasts a second location in Granite Bay. Inside you will find, harness, leashes, clothing, pet toys, jewelry, picture frames, pet food, pet medical items and of course the doggie bakery which includes cookies, snacks and cakes! We purchased a peanut butter doggie cookie shaped like a bone for .95 cents and our lil Lucie loved it :) We plan on buying her the small individual birthday cake (about cupcake size) for Lucie's birthday next week for a mere $3.95. Money well spent on a treat that our beloved lil Lucie will surely enjoy. While pricing isn't exactly comparable to your local Box Pet Stores, there are still bargains to be had. On this trip all shirts were 50% off and even though the shirt we wanted was too small one of the employee's or possibly the owner called their second location and found a shirt for us and promised to have it for us the following week! Good customer service goes along way for me when it comes to making up for a difference in pricing. The Doggie Bag frequently runs coupons in local print ads as well. I have seen a $5 off $25 purchase coupon on a regular basis in more than one form of publication. Don't come here expecting to find the cheapest prices in town, but some of the items especially the bakery items are more than worth checking out. read more

I came to The Doggie Bag two weekends ago because I was in the shopping center visiting another store (ok, ok, the cupcake place) and saw the sign so I couldn't resist going in to get something for my fur baby since I got treats for myself. I came in looking for single dog treats and the lady behind the counter walked me over to the display and asked what kind of dog I had. She showed me the best treats for small dogs and which ones weren't as good (the ones that are too hard on their teeth). I picked out a few treats and looked around a bit because there are a lot of cool things in this little shop! I liked their selection of dog collars and they also have dog San Francisco Giants and 49ers/Raiders gear which I thought were cute. They have a rawhide/bone bar to purchase individual chews of various sizes as well as more food and treats towards the back of the store. They have dog clothes and accessories and dog birthday cakes which were adorable! I will definitely keep them in mind when my fur baby's birthday comes up! I would come back to The Doggie Bag again for more dog treats, a birthday cake or dog specialty items. The lady working was very helpful and even pointed out that they had dog car seats to protect them when they are riding around in the car. My Bella turned 5 and I wanted to get her a special treat. So I googled Dog Birthday Cakes and found Doggie Bag. I work and live in Sac which have boutiques like this but they didn't carry party hats and the price of the cupcake closed the deal. I also purchased a doggie cannoli for my other pup cuz he would want a treat if his sister gets one lol. It looked so cute even my friend said it looked yummy. The cashier was nice. Definitely worth the 5 star update! The only reason for the initial 4 star was just because we would come in and out and never really asked about the products. BUT this place is amazing. Sherry spent about an hour talking with us about the concerns (skin and back) we had with our dog. She was so informative about skin problems and recommended some products to us but was in no way pushy. She even provided us informational packets about the products they were selling. She suggested some additional food options and probiotics that she uses for her dog. We've honestly tried everything for our dog so we are hopeful with the new products. Rather than trying to force us to buy the product she gave us some samples to try first. I really appreciated her sincerity. They also told us we could call anytime if we had any additional questions with the new products we purchased. They also asked us for feedback of the new products so they could let their other customers know. Really great business practice!!! Jessie is adorable too!!! Since it's my sister's dog's birthday I decided to spoil him by buying what looks like homemade doggy goodies. I remembered seeing a commercial about this store and thought why not give it a try. Upon entering the store we were greeted by this lovely employee who even offered to give Dexter (puppy) a treat. She was more than helpful when it comes to answering questions and pointing out where items are located. For my purchase I bought a mixed variety of cookies including: holy cannoli, p-nut butter cookie, honey bone cookie and a scardy cat cookie totaling up to $5 (not a bad deal).
