Took advantage of the $1 soup base and AYCE for kids recently. You get to choose from pork bone, tomato, and spicy for the $1 soup base. The sauce, snacks, and dessert bar is always amazing as I love the fruits and jellies they offer there. The pork and beef are my go-to's. Service is great as they provide high chairs for the little, aprons for everyone, and Haagen-Dazs ice cream bars after the meal. We were celebrating a birthday so they even plated our birthday cakes nicely, with candles, decorations, and a small happy birthday sign! All for no extra charge! Free parking is available at a nearby parkade and there are lots of tables available.

First time visiting The Dolar Shop and we had a great dining experience. The wait was quite long even thought we had a reservation, but the hostess gave us complimentary bean curd and unlimited ice cream as compensation for the extra wait. The service was outstanding and food was good. A bit on the pricey side if ordering from the à la carte menu but it is worth it if you are craving individual hotpot. The presentation was great and we love that everyone gets their own broth choices!

DolarShop has their new Spring set menu out and upgraded it so was excited to go try with friends. I also signed up for their limited time 20% code for their Spring Set menu which makes a really great deal as the set starts from $34 and includes choice of appetizer (marinated tomato or cucumber salad), meat, assorted veggies or meat & veggies platter, choice of unlimited carbs (rice, udon, or hand pulled noodles), choice of 6 soup broths, and access to their fruits, appetizer and sauce bar. I choose the cucumber salad with lamb meat, assorted meat with veggies platter, hand pulled noodles, and with pork bone soup base. Everything was high quality and delicious - service was top notch and they delivered their signature ice cream before we had to ask and even asked if we wanted another one. With the 20% promo, my lunch set only came out to $30 including tax (regularly $36) for lunch. I was able to pack my remaining food plus soup broth to go. Pro tip: Make sure to pay with debit to avoid the additional service charge. However, there is an option to fill out a review to waive the service charge. Next pro tip: There is plenty of free parking spots around Station Square. Closest is the Earls, Cactus Club, DolarShop, and We Work building two parkade. Always a great experience and now with the new upgraded Spring set menu, lunch here is more affordable.

Half spicy and half not spicy.

Came during happy hour which began at 9 pm on a Saturday evening. My cousin took the liberty of ordering for us all. I got half regular and half spicy. The veggies and meat that came with our order were more than enough for our party of 4. The veggies were fresh and were a great compliment to the soup and meat. I like that they have a bar for the sauces and some sides. The ice cream in the end was a great finishing touch to our meal. It was a great dinner considering how cold it was the night we came. I'd definitely stop by again when I am in town. Great service and food!

First time here and tried their a la carte menu. Ordered 2 beefs, 1 snake fish, a few veggies, cocktails and some noodles for a total of $105. I think that it was on the pricy side considering that all you can eat at their sister restaurant chocho would be the same price.

I usually go to Haidilao but this place is definitely a contender for my favourite hotpot restaurant. We came for their lunch combos that range from 38-45$ per person. We also ordered their plum juice. My favourite part was their unlimited rice and noodle refills. The noodles are so good! I also loved their ice cream cones and ice jelly bar. The combos are definitely more than enough food even for a big eater like me. The combos are definitely cheaper than just ordering ala carte. The service was very attentive and although restaurant was very busy the sauce bar was always stocked and clean. Will definitely be back if in the area.

Consistent with a great lunch deal. They offer a $40 set lunch before 5pm. You can choose between vegetarian set, beef set, Wagyu set or seafood set. Each set comes with a plate of veggies as well. During the lunch special, you're also allowed to have food from the snack bar, dessert and an ice cream cone after your meal. Service is always great, but they can't split the bill properly. We had to get a couple of different bills on the side. Another note is if you pay by cash or debit, you don't need to pay the additional fee.

The service here is always top tier. They offer bibs and hair ties if you need and are always happy and ready to help. The food quality is also always great and I love the unlimited dessert bar and sauce bar. Ps they also have unlimited ice cream at the end! As you can see, I quite enjoyed the dessert bar. Don't worry if things run out either too! Because staff frequently check on the inventory and restock items at the dessert and sauce bar! It does get quite busy here especially at this location so I would recommend you reserve a table in advance if you have a big group or don't want to wait.

Price/quality (4/4): I came here during happy hour, so a lot of things were cheaper than usual. The quality was good, though the wagyu did not quite melt in my mouth. Still, it was quite tasty, and due to happy hour pricing, it was actually very worthwhile. Service (1/1): Service was friendly and effective. We even got a free ice cream after the meal! Would I come here again: Yes

There is an extra charge of the sauce bar, about $3 plus dollars. That includes dessert & their yummy congee as part of the sauce bar. There's even a show presentation on a popular Chinese mythology figure, The Monkey God. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Service is prompt & good, our server Elvis was attentive & most helpful. Pro tip: There is free underground parking at the restaurant. After 6pm, you can park at CIBC parking stalls underground. The Deluxe AYCE is only $3 more per person so with the 20% late night deal my boyfriend and I decided to try it out. What we found is much higher beef quality and lamb that rivals what higher tier hot pot spots like DolarShop provide. My boyfriend loves the snack bar and we discovered there are two separate snack bars in the restaurant that has different food - one has desserts, spring rolls, chicken wings, and deep fried buns. The other has cold appetizers, noodles, curry fish balls, and lamb shanks. The original house soup base is really tasty and the service here is quick and pretty friendly. The only downside is that the restaurant is not well vented so be prepared to smell like hot pot from head to toe. Regular deluxe AYCE is $34.99 per adult for dinner and end of the meal includes complimentary ice cream. They also have some unlimited drink refills that are pretty reasonable prices for around $3.99/person. Solid hot pot place and the great thing about this restaurant is they don't rush you out when your time limit is up.

Spicy was traditional Chinese spicy (so pretty spicy) but both are flavorful. The lamb and beef meats were good. The inside was nice and clean. They had a small buffet style section where you could grab toppings and certain side items. I guess they only put certain items out at a time and don't refill it when they run out. We ordered the Chinese Donut, as we got the last 2 in the buffet style area, but the guy came back and said they are all out. So it seems like they don't make more after a certain point. Parking seems a bit bad. We are not familiar with the area and planned to go to the nearby mall afterwards, so we ended up paying for parking at the mall across the street. From the looks of it, they only really have street parking available. We paid in advanced for the happy hour price before happy hour ended. That all being said, the service was subpar. It was okay at first, but then we ordered more meat and fast forward 20 minutes, it still had not come out. It the took a minute to find a flag down a worker, but we asked once again. It felt like only had 1 (maybe 2) actual server on the floor. We waited like 5 more minutes before ultimately just leaving. I'm not sure what happened since they were pretty empty (customer wise), but it heavily ruined the experience. If you go, I hope your experience is better!:)

Ordering is done via a tablet. They also have cooked dishes like skewers, fried mantou and other things on the menu in addition to the hotpot ingredients. Some of the items cost extra and are labeled with the cost. In the center, they have the sauce bar, desserts bar of mostly Chinese jellos and also an ingredients bar with things like spam and quail eggs. I got the satay broth and it was decent. Ingredients are served reasonably quickly. The quality of the meat is decent. The milk-marinated beef is actually soft, and the usual sliced ribeye, lamb shoulder and pork belly are fine. The cooked dishes are decent as well, as we tried their pork trotters, fried mussels, and lamb skewers. The selection for hotpot ingredient is as you'd expect for an AYCE place, but the cooked food selection is a bonus. Definitely stuffed myself and was a satisfying meal on a cold winter day. Feels like communist era China, with the propaganda style artwork and decor. It really feels like one is eating at some streetside outdoor restaurant in a Chinese village. Special mention. Even the dumpy wooden tables feel authentic. With that said, this is actually one of the cons of the place. There is simply nowhere enough room to put the uncooked food, even with a side table. And the place sure is authentically cramped. Knock 1 star off. The tables aren't actually piped into a gas system. Instead, the dips in the table hold the portable type hot pot burners that use gas canisters. They do run out occasionally, so be sure to check the flame every once in a while. Staff are friendly and professional. No complaints. My friends and I did the dinner AYCE. Drinks are not included. However, they did include a (1) teapot of cold peach(?) pop, which really hit the spot. No refills for this one though. Besides the typical beef and lamb slices (good quality for both), most of the rest of the food is self serve in their refrigerated sections. Special mention. My friends and I loaded up piles of animal bits. There are skewers, seafood, marinated meats, and other goodies. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Some may not like the whole self serve thing, but personally I found this to be way more efficient than other places where one has to order then wait for the staff to bring the food. As of the time of writing, there is also a late nite AYCE special starting at 2100. Only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because of the seriously cramped seating, as well as the tables that are too small (as mentioned above). With this in mind though, I would gladly eat here again. Recommended.
