First time coming here during the "Meat Carnival." My friend and I arrived around 9 PM and waited about 30 minutes for a seat. The Meat Carnival deal allows you to choose from five unlimited meat options: two kinds of beef, chicken, fish, and lamb. I skipped the chicken on the first round since I don't usually like it in hot pot. Personally, the lamb was just "meh," so I ended up ordering a lot of the beef instead. Pro-tip from our server: They suggested ordering the 1/4 soup pots (four grids) to save money. I got the tomato broth and my friend got the pork broth. In my opinion, HDL still has the best tomato broth in the game! Just a heads-up that veggies and noodles are extra. In the end, we spent about $60 per person after eating seven orders of meat in total. It's definitely worth it if you can eat a ton of protein; otherwise, you're better off coming during regular hours, as you won't save much if you aren't a big eater. The service was great! I heard so many fun things about Haidilao hotpot, I finally had a chance to try it. There are two locations that I know of, Brentwood and Richmond. We decided to try Richmond. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The restaurant was extremely busy, brightly lit, and had a very festive feeling. In the waiting area there was plenty of seating and things to keep people busy. They were snacks, coffee, and toys for kids to play with.. We had reservations so we were seated immediately. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were a lot of people celebrating birthdays tonight. Each table got the Royal treatment. Bonus, they have secret code phrases, that if you say it to your wait staff, they will bring you a special surprise, depending on what the code is. They take care of every detail. My daughter and I have long hair. I had reading glasses on my head. For my daughter they put down a new hair tie. For me they put down a new hair tie and a cleaning pad for glasses. The only downfall I found is that the restaurant can get very very loud at times. However, I had such a great time that I will put up with the noise level. I will definitely go again. The entrance is quite decorated and there a snack/drink area in the waiting area. We went for lunch and got the Classic Combo. You use their iPad to select your meat and protein and comes with a platter of veggies. Their sauce and snack area added another $3.95 that we didn't see mentioned anywhere. Haidilao is one of many hot pot places that are popping up all over Lower Mainland. This location is on the 2nd floor, accessible by stairs or elevator. The main differentiator from it's competitors is that they give away free snacks in the waiting area, have a play area to keep little kids entertained (though it looks like it's for super young kids like 3 and under), you can say certain "passcodes" to get more freebies like a toy wand, and they have entertainment (noodle dance and face change dance but these were not happening when we came for Friday lunch). They have many locations across the world and in other countries they also provide free manicures, but sadly not in Vancouver. As for the food and pricing -- during lunch, they have a $29.95pp lunch set for 2. It came with 1 broth choice, 1 meat choice, 1 carb choice, a platter of assorted veggies/appies, unlimited plum or passionfruit drink, and ice cream for dessert. The quantity was definitely filling. And the unlimited passionfruit drink I got tasted great. However, as for the food and the tomato broth, I have had better at other places; the tomato broth was very bland. And if you want to get dipping sauce, it's an extra $3.99 to go to the sauce bar which includes soups, more snacks, etc -- but I only wanted the sauce since the broth was so bland and the other items offered at the bar was not as appealing to me as other hot pot places. Service wise, the waitress kept speaking to me in mandarin while my friend translated back to me in front of her. That was weird. There's just too much competition for this type of hot pot where the flavors are better, so I don't see myself coming back here anytime soon for the food. If I came back it would be for the entertainment/ experience of using the passcodes to have a good laugh with friends. read more

For $19.95 per person, we felt this was a great deal. The service was quick and efficient. The people were friendly and accommodating. We didn't know how to order from the tablet and they were patient to show us. They had a drawer to put our jackets, hair ties for long hair and an apron so we didn't get our clothes dirty. The one thing that we didn't like or know at the time was that the sauces and topping were an extra $4 per person. We didn't realize this as other hotpot places don't charge. We didn't realize this until we got the bill. It brought the total with tips closer to $28/person. Also, they said that one of us needed to sign up to be a member to get this promotional price. I don't like leaving personal information on databases, but I guess it is what it is. Lastly, the honored their special codes (find these on social media), that if you say it to the server, they will give you free gifts. We got snacks to take home. I've been to multiple Haidilao locations and this one stands out above the rest. Shout out to Logan who provided excellent service and made our birthday celebration extra special. The food here is also really good value with all you can eat options for big eaters as well as set menus based on your party size. Next time, we'll start smaller and order one party size down from what we ordered, because we had to take home a ton of leftovers. The sauce bar is the standard extra charge just like other locations. The dining experience here is refreshing with great service, a clean environment, and delicious food. Haidilao Richmond - is pretty transit friendly - as Richmond center is not that far of a walk from this spot - they is also a fair amount of parking available. If you can, try to book in advance as this location gets pretty busy especially during dinner rush and weekends - they have a nice waiting area with little snacks and drinks while you wait for your table to become available. Service here is very quick - the team seems to communicate well, and demonstrates high level efficiency. They are very good with checking up on you - and are super friendly and knowledgeable. Meat was super fresh - quality cuts - and they have a great sauce bar that also has little snacks and fun add ons - The noodle dance is pretty neat as well - probably not as entertaining as some of the videos that you see of overseas locations - but it's still good. Out of both branches, I like the Burnaby branch more. I feel that the staff are more energetic and happier. The noodle dance guy is really good at the Richmond branch though. We got to try their 2 person combo set which came with 2 soup bases, fish, chicken, beef slices, napa cabbage, wheat noodles, fortune bags, tofu, dried tofu skin, konjac noodles, dancing noodles, shrimp balls and plum juice. All the food was super fresh and the service was amazing! As a special treat, we were given Kobe cubes from the kitchen! We can't wait to order the kobe again! This branch of the Haidilao is so much more fancy than the one in Arcadia branch that we normally frequent. We decided to treat ourselves with the A5 wagyu from Japan, so good. I haven't been to Haidilao hotpot before but heard lots of great things, especially about the service. When I saw they had a really good March 2025 weekday lunch special, I thought I'd try it out. The special combo for one came with an option for protein, a carb, soup base, an assortment of hotpot food, unlimited passionfruit or plum juice, and ice cream for dessert, all for $19.95. We chose the beef option and lamb option, as well as the golden bricks and noodles. We tried their famous tomato broth, which uses real tomato instead of tomato paste, as well as the spicy sediment broth. The combo did not include the sauce bar, so we opted out of that. This worked out because the soup bases were so flavourful, they didn't need any additional sauces. This was a lot of food for $19.95. All the food was delicious and good quality. The golden bricks were light, airy, and addicting, and the fresh noodles were chewy. We were also able to use some secret codes for some fun freebies, like the tomato soup base for at home hotpot and additional golden bricks. We enjoyed it so much, we went back for another lunch and tried the pork bone soup option. The tomato soup base is much better, and the spicy one is a good 2nd option for something different. The first time we visited, service was pretty good but slow. After we placed our order, the waitress took awhile to bring us our drinks and an apron to wear while eating. To her credit, she did provide us 2 complimentary appies (taken from the sauce bar) as well as bowls for soup filled with celery and meat (also from the sauce bar) which paired well with our soup. However, by the second half of our meal, she was nowhere to be seen, so it took awhile to get our ice cream and bill. She had also added the sauce bar charge to our bill even though we had told her we wouldn't be using the sauce bar. Another waitress who ended up helping us with the bill apologetically removed the charge. The second time we visited, the waiter was much better. He was a lot more attentive with refilling our drinks, bringing us our ice cream and our bill (which did not have any sauce bar charge). He gave us 1 complimentary appy from the sauce bar. I liked how they have clean plates, chopsticks, and napkins in the drawers of your table. They also have other things like wet wipes, hair ties, and glasses lens wipes which they also provide to you at the beginning of the meal. Although we didn't need to wait to be seated, their lobby/waiting area has various free snacks, drinks, and entertainment. The attention to detail is quite impressive. Some booths are a bit dimmer than others, so I'd suggest requesting for a booth by the window if you want better lighting. I love Haidilao. I've been to this location two years in a row now this time of year, but this time came with a huge group of 9 people with a call-in reservation. Our host May was so wonderfully accommodating and attentive. I was looked after as the one vegetarian in the group, which I very much appreciate. Hot tip for other vegetarians: they have two veggie broths and tons of fresh vegetables, mushrooms, and tofu items to choose from. Love seeing the kitty robots roll around. We stumbled upon this hidden gem upon arriving to Vancouver. It turned out to be one of the best hot pot restaurants that we've been to. Everyone that works there is so friendly and attentive. The service was so quick. The food was so delicious. We ended up getting the all you can eat combo and it's a great deal (under $40pp). The meats were premium quality and they had a good selection of broths. After dessert, they sent us home with a goodie bag of treats. Haidilao is now my favorite hot pot restaurant! I've visited two locations and had amazing experiences at both. During the Christmas/New Year season, we were lucky enough to catch a mask dancer performance, which was a huge crowd-pleaser. The service here is EXCELLENT. If they notice you looking for something, they go out of their way to assist. The food selection is incredible, and the broth options are superb. We tried the very spicy broth for my husband, the pork bone broth for my mom, and both the tomato and Tom Yum broths. The Tom Yum was my favorite--I love the coconut flavor! Make sure to book a reservation, as this place is always buzzing. I also loved their lounge area with free snacks and drinks, not to mention the addictively delicious candy! One note: this location doesn't have a nail spa, which I've noticed is missing at both Haidilao locations I've visited. Hopefully, I can experience that feature someday! read more

We decided to go to Haidilao hot pot for our Chinese New Year dinner. The restaurant was very busy on that date, and the staff at the front desk were well-trained and attentive to all customers. While we were waiting, we could even enjoy free coffee and snacks When we were seated, the waitress explained how to order. She was very friendly and provided good service. We chose the Sukiyaki base for our soup, along with the Pork tripe and chicken soup bases. The ingredients we selected included sirloin beef, lamb slices, vegetables, fish cake, meatballs, fish slices, deep-fried oysters, and deep-fried pork slices. My favorites were the fish cake, lamb, and fish slices (which were very fresh!). Their fish cakes were especially unique. As usual, similar to other hot pot restaurants, we were able to pick our own sauce by mixing various ingredients. Surprisingly, they offered free congee, jelly dessert, and ice cream. I also enjoyed watching the Long Noodle performance at another table. It was amazing We finished dinner within one hour, and they offered a 15% discount off our bill. This was a nice discount offer. Overall, we were really satisfied with our dinner at Haidilao hot pot. I liked their Chinese New Year decorations outside the restaurant and appreciated their service and offers. It was a cold rainy day so my friend and I decided to have hot-pot for lunch. We each ordered our own soup base--I wanted the tomato and she picked bone broth soup. Tomato soup tasted freshly made and the pork bone soup had been simmering in the kitchen for awhile to get that deep flavour. Then we went to the seasoning station to mix our own bowl of dipping sauce. Quite a variety to choose from. Food came soon after. We ordered 2 plates of sliced beef, 2 plates of sliced lamb, one order of seasoned minced shrimp, a bowl of vegetable and a plate of dried tofu skin. We chatted, we boiled the meat in the soup base then put it into the dipping sauce and ate those delicious morsels. Rested a little bit, chatted some more and ate more food. A relaxing couple of hours to finish cooking everything. For dessert, we were each offered a Chapmans ice cream cup and also sweetened grass jelly is available on the seasoning table. We ate both and both our tummies are comfortable and satisfied after the meal. I like the relaxing atmosphere, quite quiet so you can talk/chat. The wait staff comes around often to clear empty plates. One of the managers came to check on us and gave us each a cookie bag:-) Bill comes to about $90 w/o tips but we did order a fair amount. I was so happy to see a Haidilao in Richmond! I've been to Haidilao couple times in Irvine (California) and was so impressed with them. So, when my coworkers and I were craving hot pot and I saw there was a Haidilao nearby, I just had to take everyone there! The week we were in the area was a wet and rainy week. So hot pot was perfect for the weather. There is public parking that takes you to Haidilao directly, I think it was on the 3rd level? You can put yourself on the waitlist online via Google, which I did but there was no wait anyway. The place was consistently clean and spacious. Food was good and service was superb! Everyone always came to check on us frequently and when we realized the spicy beef broth we ordered was way too spicy, we had almost half the people working coming to help us with the broth. That was a silly mistake on us, but nevertheless, everything was so delicious! Their dancing noodle is called style noodle or something here, and it was on queue but our waitress said whenever we were ready for it, she would put it in and the guy would come. Overall, Haidilao is seriously the #1 hot pot place to go! If you go here as your first time with hot pot, it's going to be hard to top or even go somewhere that would compare to them, based on service, quality, and everything else. We celebrated my mom's birthday a couple of weeks ago at Haidilao and everything was amazing!!! Called to make a reservation and they were so attentive asking all the questions, if we were dining with children and if we were celebrating an occasion. We arrived and waited a few minutes on a busy Saturday night. There were servers coming around and offering some snacks to the guests who were waiting. They also had an area with the snacks for self serve. They were so quick to refrigerate our cake that we brought. We were seated and both of our tables were decorated with birthday balloons. You order on an iPad and was easy to use. We love that you can pick 4 different soup bases so there was something for everyone. We used some of the "special codes" for complimentary treats and toys!! Sure you can order the usual stuff just like any other place, but this restaurant takes the experience to another level. They even offered to peel our shrimps for us to to take the heads off. Service was super quick and razor efficient. The finest of any chinese restaurant. Orders come in record time and correct. You dont even have to ask..the staff knows and always making sure you are ok. We dined at dinner time and they even had a show. There was a masked man perfomring the classic mask changing magic trick, going around the place and entertaining. Never a dull moment. We came during happy hour which lasts from 2pm to 4:30 pm (approx.). They give you 20% as long as you become a member or are a member and place your order after 2pm. We got 2 of their soup bases (spicy signature one without peppers and tomato) and we also made two of our own with their sauces. Sauce is calculated per person and it's a good deal because you get sauce, desserts and fruits etc for 3.99 each. We made a satay peanut soup with the sauce bar as well as a sukiyaki soup. I would 100% make a satay peanut soup base again. We ordered a lot of items but the ones I would personally recommend are the shrimp balls with cheese (which comes ready to eat), Haidilao styled noodles and signature specialty lamb that comes marinated. The specialty lamb marinated one is delicious. The marinade is very strong and lasts even after cooked. The noodles also soak up all the flavour. Don't bother with the fatty beef. It's chewy and not flavourful. The service here is on another level. They are super attentive. They won't let you pour your own water as they pour for you. If you like their candies etc. They will give you more. They prepare aprons, hair ties, basically anything you can think of. Since they first opened, there's been so many new hotpot restaurants. I feel that the one thing that sets Haidilao apart is definitely the service. I've been to other expensive hotpot restaurants but I don't think they can beat the service that you get here. For example, my friend (who was a first timer there) mentioned how much she liked the peanuts they had for their appetizers and the server quickly offered to give her some to take home. Little things like this make for a great experience that make the customers want to come back and eat there. P.S. Always a long wait, reservations are recommended. We came in around 8pm on Friday and it looked like a short line, but there were tons of people eating elsewhere. We were told 40-50 min wait and it did take 40-50 min. Once seated, they offer you an apron if you want it, a zip lock bag for your mask, and a hair tie for females if you go in with untied hair. We ordered the mala spicy broth, less numbing, and less spice, but BOY it was so spicy and so numbing! We had to use the ladle to get rid of some of the chili oil and our server caught us in the act and helped us. We are usually pretty good with spice, but this was WAY too spicy that it was not enjoyable. There is a pretty good variety of proteins/vegetables and we ordered fish, 2 types of beef, wagyu, tofu, dumpling, fish tofu, mixed veggie plate, udon, fried bean curd, and spinach. I would say the wagyu beef is probably not worth it. It was a pretty decent portion, but it wasn't much more tender then the other beef. I would stick to the other cheaper beef cuts. We also ordered a pitcher of watermelon juice because our broth was so spicy. Oh yeah, there's free ice cream at the end too, don't forget to ask! Overall, pretty decent meal, but it was very expensive. I think you can find much more reasonable hot pot restaurant a fraction of the price. The final bill for this meal was about 220 CAD. This place is so fun!! If you want to celebrate a birthday, this is THE place to go!! Service is amazingggg, they give a birthday sign and play birthday music in three different languages: in english, mando AND canto! The food comes out so quick since we just send the order to the kitchen from the ipad, and those instagram codes were so fun! We were able to get free mantou + condensed milk and was able to learn how to do the noodle dance!! Highly recommend coming here for a birthday celebration! What makes HaiDiLao different from other hot pot places (which seem to be on every other street corner)? Good selection of ingredients and variety of soup bases! I love that they offer a four quadrants hot pot so we can try different soups. The tom yum soup base was my favorite, not too spicy or sour. Some of their signature items are worth it, like the shrimp pate, but not the wagyu. Other people would say the service and ambiance is what makes this place unique, but I personally didn't find it that special at this location. The waiting area had basic snack packs with bugle-like things, mints and complimentary tea/coffee. In the dining area, the music was so loud we had to have our server repeat things multiple times. Also note the automatic assumption that our group spoke Mandarin (no one did!). Kind of made me wonder if our server was avoiding us because of that.
