Really lovely place with very friendly owners. Had a jalapeño burger that was cooked properly, not too spicey. Wine list was small, but really good prices on all of them. Outdoor seating area had a retro feel and provided a great view of the surrounding hills. read more

So excited to have the Drifters table open!! The new owners are amazing! We had a party of 6 of us on their opening night with the new owners Chuck & Teri and everything was fabulous! The steak dinner was outstanding, Caesar salad has anchovies (you can ask to have it without), I had the linguine with shrimp, and the kids split a burger. Very quaint place to have dinner, inside or out. We felt very welcome and taken care of like we were family. Teri and Chuck are very personable. I've eaten Chef Nathan's meals several times. All excellent. We stayed next door at the Guilded Drifers Inn so it was a very short walk to dinner. The French Dip was very tasty and orange creme brulee was fantastic. Saturday, 5.14.22 - finally got to return! Spent the day at Timberfest, the local lumberjack competition that returned to Loyalton after 22 years, so it was an excellent way to cap off the day in the Sierra Valley. 5pm dinner and already a good crowd. We started off with a porter and then moved to wine. I had the asparagus, buffalo mozzarella appetizer (yours will come with prosciutto if you desire...I did not desire...and appreciated them being able to make it without) and hubby had the pan seared gnocchi with pesto cream sauce and local chorizo. We both loved our dish...his gnocchi was super rich and a very nice portion size for an appetizer, fyi. My entree was the pan seared wild pacific cod, with coconut rice & chili lime sauce. Every bite was delicious and the fish was cooked perfectly. Plus the coconut rice was a black or purple rice...always more flavorful than white rices. Hubby had the lamb shank with polenta and he loved it. But guess what...the lamb shank was super rich LOL. Hubby has a problem. Not that he doesn't love rich foods...he just forgets to balance his meal out because he LOVES rich foods. Our server was super friendly and the pacing of the meal was just right. We skipped dessert this time, but the options looked great and who doesn't love homemade ice cream. Next time! And there will definitely be a next time! read more

What a great place to stop and have a delicious meal and drinks with the beautiful valley scenery in the background. We ordered the IPA on tap, had the octopus salad, rib eye, trout, and dessert. We have eaten here the last two Friday's and it is by far our favorite date spot in Sierra county. The service has been great and the food is top notch. Had the lamb last weekend and it was truly the best lamb I have ever eaten. My husband had the fish and loved it. Wine selections were awesome and the owner was happy to help give suggestions on what to order. This week we ordered the Porterhouse to share - phenomenal! We ordered it rare and it was perfection. This place is truly a gem. My husband and I were staying next door for our 1yr wedding anniversary and came here both nights in a row. The waitstaff was entirely warm, inviting, helpful and quick. All of the food was delicious, we tried the lamb, the pork, the mahi-mahi and the burger as entrees and everything was cooked and seasoned beautifully. Apps and desserts were also amazing! Of special note was the lemon blueberry buttermilk pie. The menu does rotate regularly but I don't think you could go wrong ordering anything here because it is all excellent. We will absolutely be coming back as well as sending our friends out for a visit. read more

A hidden gem! We celebrated our wedding and subsequent anniversaries at the Drifter's Table and will continue doing so. The owners, Jeanne and John, are masters at their craft and have created a warm, beautiful environment paired with absolutely delicious food. Each dish is flavorful and beautiful! I can't believe I haven't left a review yet! This is our favorite restaurant, we just discovered it this Spring thanks to our son and DIL, and have been regulars this season. We've taken most of our friends out there too. We went again tonight for their last day open until next Spring. We love everything about it. The food of course being the biggest draw, everything that comes to your table is the bomb, all made from scratch with an original touch. They have a small menu but it's all that's needed for this intimate eating setting, there's still several choices. The menu is constantly changing so it's fun to see what's new each time. Some of our favorites are the Grilled Cabbage Cesaer Salad, any of the Gnocchi's on the menu, the steaks, and tonight we had Pan Seared Scallops on risotto, it was perfection. For dessert we always order whatever pie is on the menu, they have all been exquisite and the homemade ice cream is divine as well. Coffee with dessert is very good as well being a French pressed version. Oh and the wine! Then there's the atmosphere. In the summer/fall we eat outside in the eclectically decorated patio, lights strung overheat and music in the background, overlooking the valley, it's such a relaxing experience. In the winter we ate inside, also a cozy intimate dining setting. Then there's the owners themselves who really make this place extra special. I came to review this restaurant and was very surprised to see a negative review! This person must of been a competitor or something because this restaurant is adorable and the food is outstanding. When you walk in it feels very comforting like you are coming home. The patio is the cutest patio I have ever seen in a restaurant. The Inn next door also has the same vibe...old but updated and simply charming. The food...oh my goodness! My husband had pork chops with the most delicious chutney. I had a NY steak that was cooked to perfection and we shared a Caesar salad that was insane! The dressing was clearly handmade and I would literally give my right arm for the recipe! Go! My wife and I love to travel and go to different restaurants all over the United States. I was so pleasantly surprised while visiting Loyalton Ca. to find such an eclectic eatery. Owned by a husband and wife team under the leadership of Jeane Whited they have created the best dining experience in northern Nevada and the Truckee area in Loyalton Ca. If your in the area or driving up Hwy 395 to Susanville or coming down to Reno make the turn on hwy 70 to Loyalton. It's right by the sheriffs office and the drifters inn. It's definitely our favorite restaurant and always worth the short drive. Great selection of wine too read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner which was outside and very refreshing thanks to a few clouds. The salads were unique with an array of trimmings including sweet peas, and pieces of toasted french bread. The entrees we ordered were very tasty with the Sea Bass cooked just right and melted in your mouth. Sara our waitress was very attentive, our wine glasses were never empty, and a wine cooler just to make sure the bottle stayed cold. The entire time was very enjoyable, and for a small town restaurant, this is definitely an asset to the community of Loyalton. We definitely will be returning! read more
