This highly-rated oceanfront cafe feels hidden. You must park in the Lantana beach municipal lot with meters, but avoid the sections that are for passholders. The entryway up the dune to the main building is long-ish and kind of confusing. Even the last time, I thought... am I going the right way?! The restaurant itself faces the ocean, so it is not visible from the parking lot or street. However, The Dune Deck Cafe is worth finding! The dining area is completely covered with a roof and completely open to the ocean. Thus, there is no air-conditioning or screens, so that means being ok with the occasional fly buzzing around or pigeon begging. Personally, I find dining outdoors with an ocean view and breeze pretty close to perfection, but I can't imagine coming here for lunch in the summer heat. Most recently I ate the feta and spinach omelette with grits. Grits were creamy. The omelette was tasty, though it seemed a little low on the feta. My iced coffee was served in a giant cup, which I appreciate! Cash only, but they have an ATM on sight. Service was consistent. My boyfriend had his potatoes substituted for grits, and he never received them until we asked twice and got the check. Our server didn't refill our drinks. Went for Sunday breakfast. Wait was about 25 mins. Not too bad. Food & drinks were horrible. I had a 2 egg breakfast with ham. No taste what so ever. Everything was bland. The toast was awful. How do you mess up toast? It's like it was stale and they toasted it, it was rock hard. My boyfriend had a pina colada very watery didn't taste like there was any liquor in it. He also ate the corned beef has. He said it had no taste. He added that everything tasted like cardboard. Thank goodness for salt, pepper & hot sauce. This place looks awesome. But they don't take credit cards and I didn't bring my ATM card. If a person was inclined, they could add the ability to take credit cards before I was finished with my meal, which means they chose to do so because of some selfish reason. Presumably it's some mix of using ATM machines as a profit center or that the company that would facilitate the transactions would take a few cents from every meal. I recognize that restaurant margins are generally low but if breakfast on the ocean was $11 instead of $10 would you skip it? (Especially after having just paid $3 to park). Again the place looks great but not taking credit cards means you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself, which is the opposite of what it takes to be a good restaurant. read more

There aren't many bars or restaurants between West Palm and Ft Lauderdale that can claim "ocean view". Dune Deck has the nicest views of the Atlantic Ocean you could ask for! In addition to turquoise waters, Dune Deck has great breakfast/lunch options for reasonable prices. Every staff member is kind and welcoming, while service is prompt and relaxed. Highly recommend! The one and only downside is that you have to pay for parking in the public beach lot - although it's cheap to park, it would be nice if the restaurant validated parking. read more

Was able to get an oceanfront table which enjoyed an onshore stiff breeze, otherwise I'm not sure I would have stayed. Grilled calamari was excellent - served over sautéed spinach with pita - was enough for a lunch entree. Chicken skewers were delicious. It's not cheap, but it's a rather good value. Service was outstanding. Will go back during the week when it's not as busy for some more interpersonal space. Cash only. The issue we didn't like was that our bill was $79, I took out $100 form the atm (that charges $3.75) since I figured $80 is obviously too little, but the waiter decided that he is going to get $21 of tip and never brought our change back. When we asked for it, the girl at the entrance said she will check out what happened. We waited another 10 minutes (with 2 little kids) and as we were leaving she ran after us with the bill (that shows $79) saying that the waiter didn't bring change back 'cause he assumed the rest is the tip... like what? Isn't it up to a client to decide how much tip to leave? And anyway $21 tip on $79 bill is way too much for their service. read more

For the beach, this is the best food, at a place with a view, in the county. It's open air and breezy, perfect in these Covid-19 times. The lobster roll was full of meat, a bit overcooked, but tasty. The fresh fish was sea bass, which was excellent! What you order makes a difference. Open for breakfast and lunch, the weekend menu has some nice specials, a few Benedicts, and the meat dish or two along with the obligatory burgers, and flatbreads. Service was very good, but mask wearing with the staff was hit or miss. Our waiter kept pulling his off the minute that he left the tables, so he was handling food and beverages without face covering. That was enough to make me put this on the down-road for my next visit, post-Covid-19, or ask for a different server. Parking is beach municipal lot. You will pay, if you can land a spot. Again, in better times, a good place to Lyft or Uber. It would be great, too, if they cleaned off the pavers that they hand out, OR just put them away, and text the guests when ready. You've done away with the menus. Do you need dirty pagers ? Overall, a definite four star in a more covid cautious serving style. Ambiance is tops here at Dune Deck. Food is good but not over the top by any means. Anyone who is watching their weight should order their salads. The country Greek salad has nice fresh tomatoes, potato wedges, and authentic feta cheese wedges in a very light dressing. Delish. Much of their lunch food is fried- we don't eat fried food so...unless that's your thing the salads are great and there are add on protein options! We have friends who love Dune Deck breakfasts... My wife and I go to the Dune Deck more often than not and for good reason. Get past the parking (not the restaurants fault) ascend the stairs and what awaits is a awesome view of the ocean. Hop a seat at the bar and be prepared to receive excellent service and great food. Sitting at the bar, IMO, offers the best views of the ocean, and best interaction with the staff and other customers. Keep in mind that this is a cash only establishment, but not to worry, they have an ATM on site. Never a disappointment or let down coming here. It was nice not having a wait considering everything with the rona. Tables were spaced decently apart. The full restaurant is covered, rainy days they do have roll downs to prevent rain from coming in on you. They have 3 different levels of sitting, full service bar, breakfast is served all day. Service was awesome as always. Their fries are the best! Their portion sizes are great, even the kids meals are a generous portion. There is plenty of parking available here compared to lake worth. We were going to go to Benny's but the parking is hectic at lake worth. It is cash only, they have an ATM here that you can use but it does charge a service fee. So bring cash and you'll need either change or a credit/debit card for parking; no bills are accepted at the parking meter. read more

Me and my husband went out without the kids to celebrate our anniversary together up in Lantana. Thankfully, we had found this wonderful café with amazing food and located right on the beach!
