A few years later and thankfully the same experience. On our way down from the ADK's, my wife and I decided to revisit an old haunt. The Dutch was as good, if not better, than we had remembered. Amazing service. Amazing food. Amazing beer (unfortunately I couldn't enjoy too many prior to our drive home to the city.). In any case, just come here. Their food is insane. Get the Mac and cheese and request some spicy aioli regardless of what you order. See ya soon! read more

The food was very yummy, but the service was spotty and haphazard. We were seated for more than 10 minutes before our drink orders were taken, and then what we ordered was not available so it took about another 10 minutes to get anything to drink. The waitress then forgot to bring out one of the appetizers and wanted to serve it with the main course. No matter how delicious the food is, if the service leaves you feeling annoyed, it's not a good thing. read more

The Dutch Ale House is a gem. Excellent food from their boneless wings to their soups. The menu consists mainly of burgers, but has several options at appetizers. I had the chipotle cheddar burger which was amazing. They also have a pretty good beer selection though I thought it was somewhat limited for an ale house. read more

The Thanksgiving sandwich at this place is next level. All the ingredients are top notch and it's a very well constructed sandwich. Not messy, not soggy...pretty perfect to be honest. I'm not sure if the Thanksgiving wizard was behind the line during my visit but I highly recommend this sandwich. The side order of fries were good as well. Great beers, great food, great service. The menu is more creative and tasty than mere pub fare. The burgers really are special. It's not a cheap meal, but an excellent value. We come here when we want something good and reliable. Fun to eat at the bar. The cole slaw was soupy when I was there last, and I'd like a grilled chicken Caesar to have more greens in it. Really great service, Cat, our waitress, was sweet, knowledgeable and helpful with our selections. The place had a very local flare. The food was awesome. Try the garlic parm frites (but only if u like garlic--it's loaded!). The salads were very fresh, garden burger was big and perfectly prepared. The chicken on the grilled chicken sandwich was nice and moist. Lots of draft beer choices of unique and local beer, some even brewed there. Definitely worth stopping for! read more

We love this place! My husband and I have been coming here for over four years. We started coming for the cozy, neighborhood feeling, got hooked on the amazing beer selection and then realized they had an amazing pulled pork quesadilla that we couldn't start a weekend without. Tonight we tried the pulled pork sandwich and the chicken and Brie salad. Sandwich was very tasty with a bit of kick. Nice side of sweet potato fries - nice and crunchy. Could have also had soup, salad or slaw. Chicken salad had thin, moist slices chicken breast and the Brie was served on crostini. We love the 'new' owners. They have made lots of improvements, none the least is the menu and the upgrade of the back room, which now with child in tow allows us to still have a nice night at the pub. A group of us went during the week to the Dutch Ale House. The place was crowded, the service was painfully slow and the food was not great. Not sure if they had an off night or what, but my lamb burger was dried out and virtually tasteless. For $17 I expected something far better. Most of the draft beer was $9 which seemed overpriced. We were anxious to try this place hecause of acrecent write up in a local publication. We sat inbtge 'new' room at a comfortable table. The service was prompt and friendly. Onion soup and beet salad were good. Wings were excellent: crispy, buffalo sauce on the side. Yum! My husbands burger was pretty good as was our friend duck dish. I had the fish and chips which was fair. Most plates were unadorned so everything seemed a little dour. When the music started (which we were NOT told would be happening, we had to leave becausebofvthe noise level. Please apprise your patrons of things like that; it's only fair. read more

Great food. Management issues. We went for dinner on a Thursday. They were OUT of menus and couldn't provide a beer list either. The girl who seated us didn't know what kind of beer they had on tap (is this a bar?) and we had to create our own table for four. After several requests we were handed one menu and the waitress took our drink order, but she could only get two drinks at a time. This means when four people say "i'll have water and.." the waitress literally runs away two times, then allows us to order our drinks. Waited at least half an hour for food, after waiting at least 15 minutes for a menu. All of the food was well made. No complaints there. Wouldn't recommend this place if you are in a hurry or want to talk with other people at your table. read more

Whenever i see gastropub i think they must have good fries! The Parmesan garlic Fries were amazing along with the creative and delicious dipping sauces! I had the beet salad, which was terrific; my husband wanted to try the buckwheat burger, but they had just sold the last one until dinner time, so he went with the Harvest sandwich, which he loved. All I can speak for is their burger and fries, which are great. But their staff is embarrassing. I usually have ok service there, but the last time I went, I took some friends. The waitress didn't write the order down, got the order wrong, argued with us and blamed us for it being wrong, never checked on us, never refilled our drinks, and my one friend went the entire dinner waiting for the order to be corrected, and it STILL came out wrong. The bartender gave my friends a hard time about compensating the order, the waitress came back to yell and argue with them some more, pointing with her long ass finger nails. Completely unprofessional and rude. I've never had this bad experience anywhere. I'm a local and was coming here on a regular basis. I won't go again, and I highly doubt anything will be done about the rude waitress. The bartender said the name was on the receipt which read "Anastareh". Not sure if that's true. But she should find a new job. read more

The drinks were so good! Really creative (and delicious!) We usually try to come to the Dutch when we drive up to Saugerties, and wow has it improved. The atmosphere and the fresh food really made for a wonderful night out with friends. And I repeat... those drinks... yum. This is a MUST visit restaurant in Saugerties. read more

Love love love The Dutch! The food here is pretty damn good. Currently I am in love with the Pilgrim and Bacon, Egg Cheeseburger. I have been here countless of times and never had a bad experience. I highly recommend going here not only for food, but also a quiet night out at a bar. read more
