While on vacation, we hoped to eat delicious, fresh seafood and by the reviews, this was the place. The view and the service were great. The clam chowder was amazing; the added fresh crab was OK, nothing spectacular. The Sandab meal was flavorful, the broccoli cooked just right, still a little crunchy, the rice pilaf decent. Both the soup and meal were shared, the only thing I ate different was a blue cheese dinner salad. So, when I got sick later that evening, I could only attribute the salad/dressing as the culprit. I hope no one else experienced my fate. I would have like to give this place a better review, I cannot. read more

We came into this place, ravenous & starving after a day on the beach. What better than dinner & a view? The view being perfect waterside view of the glorious Morro Rock, more beautiful than Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson if I do say so. Along with this view, we got a show of an adorable otter named Ollie. We spent our 4th of July in Morro Bay with our pawkids. Kudos to Dutchman's Seafood for their super pet friendly outdoor dining area. It was also very nice to dine in with fellow pet owners too. We saw some lovely dogs. Our waitress was amazing. She made great recommendations. We especially enjoyed our Ciopino. Generous portion, super flavorful and came with their house bread which was fantastic. I also enjoyed their house clam chowder - get the bowl and share. So good. We also ordered their calamari. Super crispy and delicious and fried just right. For dessert, we had the recommendation of their house creme brule. It was nom-nom delicioso! Best of all, their service was phenomenal, excellent! From the time we checked in (and by the way - we love that they text you when your table is ready), from the time they seated us to serving our dishes and making sure we are having a fun time, I highly recommend coming to Dutchman. Stopped by for lunch before hitting the road. And for the billionth time, we ordered one last clam chowder, house salad and fish and prawns combo. The bowl of clam chowder was massive and was one of the more flavorful clam chowders we had on this trip. The salad was nice and fresh. Pit Stop For Hungry Tourists...... Pros: Convenient location. Large food portions. Good service. Lots of parking. Cons: Patio is dingy. Food quality is so-so. Star Ratings: - Overall: 3 - Food Quality: 3 - Food Quantity: 4 - Location: 5 - Ambiance: 1 (just for the patio - we did not walk inside) - Menu: 3 - Service: 5 - Price: 4 - Value: 4 - Parking: 5 Although my wife and I live only 45 minutes to the south in Nipomo, we don't make the trip to Morro Bay very often. However, we had a great reason to do so in mid September when 2 couples visited us from San Jose and Palm Desert. But where to eat lunch? After consulting Yelp and a local we met in a nearby shop, we decided on Dutchman's Seafood House. - Location: Convenient. It's toward the middle of the Embarcadero facing the harbor in an area you might consider "downtown" Morro Bay (at least for tourists). - Ambiance: Not too good. We can only speak for the "patio" because our group of seniors didn't want to be indoors due to the Covid situation. Although not in the primary building, the patio was sealed off with a plastic covering around 4 sides so very little of the outside air got in. That might have been okay on most days, but it was unusually hot...there were no fans...and the air was stifling. The whole place just looked dingy. - Menu: Short. There were several choices under all the regular categories of food, but overall the menu seemed tailored for the tourists - short and sweet - and to save money on the number of ingredients needed and training of staff. - Food: Big portions of okay food. Consistent with catering to a crowd of visitors, everyone in our group gave a moderate thumbs up to the quality of the dishes and noted the large amount on their plates. I had the Ahi Poke Salad which came with a nice bed of greens and vegetables with cubes of ahi tuna plus a basket of "bistro fries"...essentially thin garlic fries...that were fine. My wife had an order of "steamers" which are clams in a white wine lemon broth. Lots of seafood, but heavy on the lemon. A friend across from me had shrimp cocktail almost large enough to make a meal. Another friend had a big bowl of chowder and didn't need anything else. - Service: Excellent. The guy who served us did a really food job attending to our needs. He was friendly and helpful. - Price and Value: Very good. Prices are reasonable for the quality - and especially quantity - of food you get. - Parking: Plenty. There's lot of free parking across the street from the row of stores and restaurants which face the harbor. If you're walking around the shops in Morro Bay and it's time for lunch, Dutchman's is an okay choice. It's not a gourmet restaurant nor does it pretend to be. More like a pit stop for hungry tourists. However, if you want to eat outside on the "patio", think twice and look for a better alternative. read more

Their takeout set up is kind of a hot mess, but their cioppino is dang good. We placed a phone order on a Sunday night and they surprisingly said it'd be ready in 15mins. We entered through the main entrance and waited in line to be told that food pick up is on their side entrance (I feel like they should've told us this over the phone or at least have some prominent signage). When we were finally handed our food, a staff member just gave it to us and walked away. We hadn't paid yet so finally got her attention a few minutes later and she seemed utterly confused by this. After a long, active day we were happy to finally head back to our hotel to enjoy our warm seafood meal. The cioppino was absolutely bomb. So flavorful and stayed hot for a long time. My husband got the fish tacos and while there was a lot of fish, it definitely left a lot to be desired. They were quite dry and really could use some kind of sauce and more flavor. We ordered their Ahi Poke nachos. The ahi poke tuna is so fresh and very good to the taste. It sits on a crispy wonton chip and is garnished with creamy sriracha sauce with cucumber relish. This combination is perfect for a nice meal. Quite different from nacho meal you get from q Mexican restaurant. We also ordered Cioppino. This meal has all the combinations of seafood in one meal. It has clams, prawns, mussels, crab, and calamari. It sits on a rich tomato broth. All of the seafood tasted fresh and so delicious. This is a complete seafood meal and you'll enjoy the variety in one single bowl. Their clam chowder is so creamy and you can taste the tiny bacon bits every time you take a scoop. You can add shrimp or lobster meat with the meal and this will make this more delicious and appetizing. Great spot for lunch or dinner for this seafood forward town! A very causal spot with a bar and view of the bay. Service was great! Had a drink at the bar one afternoon and did dinner here the next night. Everyone that helped us was very helpful and a pleasure to chat with. Their clam chowder was one of our favorites in town, and that's saying a lot being that EVERYONE here serves it. I enjoyed their Ciopinno which was a good portion and filled with seafood. I'm pretty particular of the broth, and this was just right. Wife got their seafood Alfredo. We were really loving this dish. This restaurant offers breathtaking views overlooking Morro Bay. We sat at the bar eating the Ahi Poke Nachos and Fish & Chips while savoring the scenery outside the windows. The ahi tuna poke was flavorful but a bit on the greasy side as it was served over a bed of wonton chips that were rather thin and oily. I think it would have been much better had the wonton chips been a tad bit thicker with excess oil removed. The beer-battered Alaskan cod and chips were nicely done and quite delicious. Went to the Dutchman last night for dinner after it was recommended by multiple local residents and businesses. I was honestly disappointed with my food and mostly the service. The server came to our table no greeting, didn't even try to ask if we wanted drinks just stood there and looked at us with her pen and pad to take our order. There were a few issues with the food, my son didn't get his garlic fries and my salad came with bacon after I asked politely for no bacon and our server didn't not ask us once if everything was ok after we received our food. After spontaneously visiting Montana de Oro my fiance and I wanted to have dinner just before we hit the road back to Fresno. My finace found this place and beyond happy he did. We called to see if they had out door dining and they said they had a patio. There are street parking available. When we arrived there was about 2 parties ahead of us we waited about 10-15 mins to get to the front. Most of the customers was there for pick up. You call ahead of time to order or you can wait and order there. There was a menu posted outside just before the entrance. Covid complainant. The staff member who took our order was very friendly. We placed our orders and was told the wait was about 15- 20 mins. We said we wanted patio dining and it's basically first come first served and they only offer take out but we are allowed to sit at the patio. He said he will take the food out there to us. Luckily we arrived just before the crowd started to roll in and was able to choose the table we wanted to and sat right next to outside heaters. We ordered the baja style tacos with black beans and fish and chips. I must say these are one of the best fried fish taco I have ever had there was so flavorful and the fact that it's was not greasy like other battered deep fried fishes and it had a nice crush and tasted so fresh, hands down the best! My in-laws treated us to a birthday weekend at the coast. We came here on their suggestion. All of the shops and restaurants were poppin! Nice to see everything returning to normal. They were pretty good but the slaw to sauce ratio was way off. I had huge chunks of cabbage and for some reason the sauce was on the inside of the tortilla instead of drizzled on top. If they had more sauce I think they would be great. 3.5/5 They were also not filling. The young woman checked in on us and I ended up ordering a chicken sandwich as well. The breading on the sandwich was killer! Nice and thin batter, crispy , and the chicken was juicy! It came with lots of pickles and a siracha slaw. That was pretty amazing. I would give the sandwich a 5/5! Much better than the fish tacos. They brought it out super quick too even though I ordered it halfway through the meal. We stopped here for a quick bite on our long drive home, seeing the good reviews Service: we had the blond waiter, he was nice and quick so great! Food: we had the snapper lunch entree and the grilled fish sandwich. The snapper was really good, tasted very fresh, seasoning was amazing, would give this dish 9/10. The grilled fish sandwich however didn't quite hit the same. The fish was fine but the seasoning on it was not good. It really took away from the fish and the sandwich as a whole. I think if it had been handled the same as the other fish it would have been an awesome sandwich, but the seasoning killed it. Fries were good. The crab cakes looked and smelled amazing, I think we'd come back and try some of those if we were in the area again. Biggest cons: lipstick on the water cup, yuck.
