Very tentative, made great recommendations, very personable and friendly, just everything you look for in a server. Great place to dine! Our wait time was around 15 minutes to get a table. Once we were seated, our waiter, Colin helped us immediately and showed us constant generosity. Great spot for lunch or dinner for this seafood forward town! A very causal spot with a bar and view of the bay. Service was great! Had a drink at the bar one afternoon and did dinner here the next night. Everyone that helped us was very helpful and a pleasure to chat with. Their clam chowder was one of our favorites in town, and that's saying a lot being that EVERYONE here serves it. I enjoyed their Ciopinno which was a good portion and filled with seafood. I'm pretty particular of the broth, and this was just right. Wife got their seafood Alfredo. We were really loving this dish. Not your average Alfredo sauce, this one was a bit less thick and had a really delicious seafood taste to it which was pleasantly surprising. After spontaneously visiting Montana de Oro my fiance and I wanted to have dinner just before we hit the road back to Fresno. My finace found this place and beyond happy he did. We called to see if they had out door dining and they said they had a patio. There are street parking available. When we arrived there was about 2 parties ahead of us we waited about 10-15 mins to get to the front. Most of the customers was there for pick up. You call ahead of time to order or you can wait and order there. There was a menu posted outside just before the entrance. Covid complainant. The staff member who took our order was very friendly. We placed our orders and was told the wait was about 15- 20 mins. We said we wanted patio dining and it's basically first come first served and they only offer take out but we are allowed to sit at the patio. He said he will take the food out there to us. Luckily we arrived just before the crowd started to roll in and was able to choose the table we wanted to and sat right next to outside heaters. We ordered the baja style tacos with black beans and fish and chips. I must say these are one of the best fried fish taco I have ever had there was so flavorful and the fact that it's was not greasy like other battered deep fried fishes and it had a nice crush and tasted so fresh, hands down the best! The fries were all so make well, crunchy on out just how I love my fries. Overall, this place was was amazing. Service was great and food was delicious. My in-laws treated us to a birthday weekend at the coast. We came here on their suggestion. All of the shops and restaurants were poppin! Nice to see everything returning to normal. We checked in and it was about an hour wait for our party of 6. We got a table with great view. Our waitress was great, super friendly. Service was quick. They were pretty good but the slaw to sauce ratio was way off. I had huge chunks of cabbage and for some reason the sauce was on the inside of the tortilla instead of drizzled on top. If they had more sauce I think they would be great. 3.5/5 They were also not filling. The young woman checked in on us and I ended up ordering a chicken sandwich as well. The breading on the sandwich was killer! Nice and thin batter, crispy , and the chicken was juicy! It came with lots of pickles and a siracha slaw. That was pretty amazing. I would give the sandwich a 5/5! Much better than the fish tacos. They brought it out super quick too even though I ordered it halfway through the meal. I flagged her down one more time and asked for a cheeseburger with a serious face and her reaction was hilarious once I said I was joking! We stopped here for a quick bite on our long drive home, seeing the good reviews Service: we had the blond waiter, he was nice and quick so great! Food: we had the snapper lunch entree and the grilled fish sandwich. The snapper was really good, tasted very fresh, seasoning was amazing, would give this dish 9/10. The grilled fish sandwich however didn't quite hit the same. The fish was fine but the seasoning on it was not good. It really took away from the fish and the sandwich as a whole. I think if it had been handled the same as the other fish it would have been an awesome sandwich, but the seasoning killed it. Fries were good. The crab cakes looked and smelled amazing, I think we'd come back and try some of those if we were in the area again. Biggest cons: lipstick on the water cup, yuck. Umm, the Cioppino. One of THE best I've ever had. And I've had a ton. The base/broth in this one is packed full of flavor and is absolutely delicious. Ton of seafood in it as well. And the sourdough garlic bread that comes with it to dip completes it. read more

We ordered takeout because we had our dog with us. The local fish we ordered was nice and fresh as expected. But the other dish was supposed to have a lemon caper sauce on it. I had nothing on it and was super bland. Somehow they missed the simple last step before packing it to go. The green beans were undercooked and not seasoned. Went to the Dutchman last night for dinner after it was recommended by multiple local residents and businesses. I was honestly disappointed with my food and mostly the service. The server came to our table no greeting, didn't even try to ask if we wanted drinks just stood there and looked at us with her pen and pad to take our order. There were a few issues with the food, my son didn't get his garlic fries and my salad came with bacon after I asked politely for no bacon and our server didn't not ask us once if everything was ok after we received our food. (It was not a busy night at all!) The busser though was great! Constantly walking the restaurant and clearing plates off the table. After driving up from San Diego for a weekend in Morro bay decided on Dutchs for dinner based on the buzz outside. Got the fried fish and prawns, crab cakes, and the local red snapper to go. Enjoyed a lovely view of the water while we waited. Fried fish was flaky and tender with a nice golden batter, same for the prawns. The lemon thyme snapper was the standout for me, lovely flavor and cooked well. Crab cakes also tasty. All and all a solid dinner, would love to come back to dine with the view sometime. read more

My wonderful hubby decided to surprise me with a trip to Morro Bay for anniversary, and of course we had to go get some good food. With the recommendation from our hotel we were on our way. This is one of the locations that he recommended and we're very happy we ended up there. Our server was named Tyler and he was pretty amazing. Very nice friendly and easy-going, knowledgeable and funny we enjoyed him. We started off with the crabcakes and calamari. I thought it was kind of strange that they added ginger with the crabcakes but oh my goodness the addition was out of this world! The calamari was cooked perfectly super tender and juicy and extremely delicious. Now to the clam chowder us being from the Monterey Bay we're pretty picky when it comes to clam chowder, we know really good clam chowder, and this was one of the best clam chowder I have ever tried. You can pay a couple bucks extra to top it with crab as we did and we were very glad we did so. If anything else definitely get the clam chowder! There was a special of the day and because we are pretty familiar with the industry we usually stay away from the specials because we know it's some thing they're usually trying to get rid of however it was a cioppino Alfredo lobster pasta dish, the sauce tasted good the pasta is cooked amazing however the lobster taste it is freezer burnt and chewy is a piece of bubblegum. I took one bite I was extremely grossed out it ruined the meal going forward. We were really grateful that we had the delicious appetizers to tide us over. Tyler again being awesome as he is offered to remove it from the bill however we did offer to pay for one of the entrées as we felt super bad that we really did not enjoy them Tyler insisted that we should not pay for them because we only ate about two bites of each plate. All in all it was a great experience and we were pretty happy it was just the lobster can be a little bit finicky and we understand that but I wish it would've been perfect so we could've said it was overall a great night with the Dutchman and overall it was it was just one small mishap. If we are back in the area we would definitely stop back for the chowder no doubt! read more

This is our go to stop every time we are in The area. My son (age 5) and I love the clams. Every time we leave our vacation here he is sad that's there is no Dutchman's seafood house where we live hahaha! I recommend the steamers. Also they have Heineken zero which I appreciated! Coming back to the old hood as a tourist is fun. Friday at dusk and T wanted to go to the Dutchman on the Embarcadero. OK, it was still early so parking was not an issue, had a short stroll and were seated at the best table on the front patio...alright. T ordered the chicken with fresh veggies and mashers. I went for the Louie Salad and the crab cakes. WoW, Service was fast our server a pro in her young age. Some chitter chatter and laughter and dinner was served. No Louie dressing? wait that why I order Louie salads, 1000 island worked just fine of course. This was one of the freshest salads I've ever been served, no kidding a generous portion of dungenous crab and good size bay shrimp. Grape tomatoes, hard boiled egg, avocado, olives..ah. you get the idea and I believe butter lettuce. Crab cakes certainly more crab than filling two good sized pucks...worth the price. In my Clam Chowder testing, the Dutchman's version placed second. It was an excellent bowl of smooth and creamy white New England Chowder with a large dollop of Dungeness Crabmeat tossed on top at an upgraded cost. But my overall experience was mixed. With a "No Reservations" policy our wait for a table for two seemed endless (but was actually about 25 minutes). And a piece of shell embedded in a Bay Shrimp Cocktail cut into the roof of my mouth. For mains, I found the nicely battered Crispy Good Fish & Chips to be of excellent quality, and Diane equally enjoyed her Crispy Good Fish & Shrimp. For included sides, a minimal amount of Coleslaw in a small cup was pretty good, and praiseworthy Skin-on Fries grew on me by the sides sinking in when teeth bit into them. Service was excellent, with our server bringing complimentary bread and butter, extra Tartar Sauce, and more napkins on request; and I was asked whether I wanted more Iced Tea. After reading some Yelp reviews prior to our Morro Bay visit, we decided to visit ourselves. It was everything I had hoped and more! I am very conflicted writing this review as we've dined here numerous times and the food has always been delicious. This time not so much. The oysters were wonderful, fresh and briny, but the sampler platter was what made me only give 3 stars. The fish and shrimp had waaaaay to much batter and the batter was greasy. The fried clams and calamari was so so, nothing really special. Now during our previous visits we were very happy with our meals, but maybe this was just an off day. The staff were wonderful and the view of the bay is amazing. We'll definitely be back. I would still recommend this restaurant to others. I'm just sorry I couldn't rate this visit higher. read more
