It was a beautiful day on Sunday so I decided to go to the eagle for lunch. After receiving my food I decided to go to Washington Park and eat the food. I opened the bag but there was no utensils for me to eat the food so I called back and they said they only gave them to you if you requested them unbelievable. Let's talk about the food the chicken was burnt and the sweet potatoes the marshmallows on top look like charcoal I spent $26 I was pissed I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone also the chicken had a funny smell so I just threw it away not happy. I really enjoyed going here to eat very affordable and amazing food some of the best food in Indianapolis. I will have to say I have been to both locations here in the one in Cincinnati. Also whenever my friends asked where to go eat I always recommend this place you can never go wrong, the food comes out pretty fast and servers are pretty nice and knowledgeable of the foods. Just as most Thunderdome Restaurant Group establishments, The Eagle has the cool, hip vibe with a good menu. I've always been told The Eagle is "okay", AKA nothing to write home about. I finally decided to try for myself over the weekend and I can confirm this statement. There was a 2 hour wait, which a wait was expected and we ended up only waiting 1 hour to get a table. I can say the very best thing about this place was the service. Our server, Nick, was so pleasant and kind. He checked on us periodically and seemed very genuine! The food itself was totally fine and reasonably priced. We started with the hush puppies, those were bomb!! I could have just had those as my meal and been happy. We split the fried chicken sandwich with a side of the macaroni and cheese and the spoon bread. The chicken sandwich was pretty good, probably better at least warm. The macaroni and cheese was a let down. After reading the reviews, I was expecting it to be one of the best but that wasn't the case. I am unsure what cheese they use but I wasn't a fan. Nevertheless, it was cheesy and creamy just bland. The spoon bread was also much more dry than my preference. It was sweet in flavor and still tasty but I do like it more moist, this was more legitimately like cornbread. The fresh squeezed lemonade is super refreshing, not too tart or too sweet. Definitely go for that (and make it a vodka lemonade ;)) I can say out of all the Thunderdome places (other than currito) this is the bottom on my list. I asked a couple people in the area what's a good place to eat and was told to check out the Eagle & to try their chicken sandwich. I thought I'd give it a shot and had their Chicken BLT, but with out the "B" since I don't eat pork. I must say it's not your average chicken sandwich. The chicken was flavorful, had the perfect crisp to it, and was tender on the inside. I was extremely happy with the recommendation & will definitely be back to try something else on the menu! Our server was extremely pleasant even though the table next to ours was being very rude to her for no reason, so props to her! (I can't remember her name.) It's sort of a more formal KFC. The Eagle seems to always be busy. It can be hard to get a seat, so hard that I have had my party seated with someone else's party in previous excursions. Like in the same booth with another party (and someone in that party spilled their drink on me, fun). I would strongly suggest reservations if you don't plan on just sitting at the bar for a bath, I mean, drink. The main attraction here is the Fried Chicken. Is it finger lickin' good? Well...it's good. They've also got a bevy of southern style sides like biscuits, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, coleslaw...any of this sound familiar? To Eagle's credit they step it up a notch with a scrummy Sweet Potato Crock, Succotash, and Brown Sugar Bacon - which is disappointingly not nearly as good as it sounds, but at least the Colonel can't say he's got that on his menu. You can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches, and all my vegetarian friends love the grilled cheese, so that's a plus! My recommendation is that it's better for larger groups- when you share sides with more ppl the price goes down. I'm always happy with my bill when it's 6+ people! Less happy when it's only 2-3. They also require your ENTIRE party to be there before they seat you- even if it's pouring rain, over 50% are there and some ppl are stuck waiting outside (they have a very small area to wait inside).
