First, you will have to look for the restaurant D' Pura Cepa in the rundown strip mall to find The Earthy Kitchen. I just happened to notice a sticker for the latter on window. Also, the Yelp! address suite for The Earthy Kitchen is not correct. It has a completely different BBQ restaurant in suite A-9. When I mentioned this to the girl behind the counter, she just shrugged but did confirm that The Earthy Kitchen was inside the D' Pura Cepa (two restaurants in one). I ordered way too much food because I wanted to try a variety of vegan entrees. First up was the Lentil Empanada. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside -- tasty! Next up was the Roasted Jackpork meal. The food was good but the jack fruit didn't really have a pork flavor. It was served with a delicious bean soup and white rice, and I got the maduros for a

making it seem like they do more of a take-out business, but no one came in for pickups the whole time I was there. The girl from behind the counter also did the waitressing. Although she brought a healthy amount of napkins, I had to ask for basic items - knife and fork, box for leftovers and I never got the water I ordered. She seemed more preoccupied with her phone and whatever she was listening to on the earbuds. If you venture on over for some tasty vegan food, don't expect too much service -- better yet, just do take-out.

I am recommending this place for anyone who is craving Puerto Rican food! There were foods that I have yearned to try since going vegan that are not widely available plant-based, so I was so happy to try some authentic vegan Puerto Rican dishes. I tried the Chik'n Chicharrón Mofongo ($18 with tax) which has fried soy protein for the chik'n. The dish was light on salt which I liked, and I was able to add either ketchup or hot sauce (went with the latter and loved it!). The fried chik'n doesnt look like regular chicken from the outside, but it had a "meaty" texture inside and was super crispy! The only unfortunate thing was they were out of all desserts when I went around 6pm. There was one staff member taking orders and waiting tables, and she was very friendly. The food was ready in about 10 minutes and hot. There was plenty of parking, place was easy to find as it is right by the road, and there are 2 gender neutral restrooms.

The food looks great on the menu, but I'm disappointed on the taste. The pernil sandwich was salty and the cheese wasn't even melted. The yuca was very hard, but the onions taste good. I don't believe I would ever this again.

5 Stars because -- Puerto Rican Vegan food? SING ME UP. I ordered delivery (you can order takeout or delivery right on Yelp) and it was so good! My faves: - The lentil empanada: I've never had a lentil empanada before, but was a big fan! I love lentils and was worried they'd be dry and crumbly, but they were really the perfect vegan filling. For any of you who don't love fake meat substitutes, this is a great option. - The beans (side dish): This is not just plan pinto or black beans. It's full of potatoes, peas, and is more like a wonderful bean stew. I'd order this again and again. - Vegan tripleta sandwich: I love their sandwiches. They're pressed and full of the flavors you'd expect in LatAm food. Plus- you'd never know it wasn't meat. As someone who loves my Latin American food, and has a vegetarian parter, it's always great to find a place that offers more than rice or beans for him. And for a meat-eater, it delivers on the flavors and textures!

Oh yeah babe; I'm diggin' this vegan eatery big time! Honestly, I cannot remember the last time I ate a latino style sandwich. I haven't eaten pork in about 3 years so after a really hot day of mowing the lawn I was ravenous afterwards, and I really, really, really, felt like having a latin style sandwich so I figure, 'what do I have to lose?' and I went on yelp to see if I could find a place that makes a veg kind and wouldn't you know! The Earthy Kitchen is now available to suit my needs!! When I called they told me that all their items are vegan! SCORE!!! Now..I know what you're gonna say.. a sandwich and fries for $14.98 is steep, and I totally agree normally but when you consider how much time it takes to make ingredients like jackfruit taste good, the price is worth it. I myself have attempted many times to make my own latin style sandwich and while what I make is not terrible, it wasn't this level of good you know? They sell what you'd normally find at a puerto rican restaurant. They have all kinds of goodies for you to enjoy including pastelitos. I'm really glad that they're around and I hope they have much success.

Mad about the mofongo! The cubano was weak I was surprised it was on a normal hoagie roll kind of like a hotdog bun. The mustard was good. My partner had the chimichuri steak sandwich and she thought it was kinda bland. That mofongo saved the day. Service was great and interior was clean.

I'm never in this area so I used a Google search to see if there was anything in the area worth stopping for. The person working wasn't someone who works there regularly so I asked him what he normally ate and he whipped me up a beans and rice dish with beef on top. It was great! My friend got a burger and fries. I also got one of their signature sodas, ginger ale.

The Sancocho was the star of the show! Yum! The rest was good, but not impressive. We had a little trouble finding the place because all the windows are tinted and the signage was small. Once inside because no one was dining and there was complete silence, we were unsure that they were open - but we were quickly greeted and the server confirmed that they were in fact open. This place did lack ambiance - the silence was deafening- I could hear someone watching videos on their phone in the back. But overall the food was good/ok and I would be inclined to try them again.

As a vegetarian who loves Puerto Rican and other island food, I was stoked to try this place. I ordered pickup on a Friday night during the quarantine. Many things, like mofongo, were unavailable so we got chicken stew, a Cuban sandwich, an empanada, an alcapuria, and tostones. The chicken stew with rice was excellent and my meat-loving husband devoured it. The Cuban had good flavor, the vegan cheese they use is especially tasty, but it was constructed a little weird. All of the mustard was on one side so half the bites had no mustard and the other half you could taste nothing BUT mustard. It also had lettuce and tomato on it for some reason, and they'd been pressed with everything else so the lettuce was all wilted and nasty. The fried items were unfortunately nearly inedible. I don't know if their oil was bad or too hot, but everything was over cooked and tasted burned. I had to throw away the tostones and for the alcapuria and empanada I just picked out the filling as much as I could. I know everything is weird right now because of the quarantine, so I definitely plan to give them another try once things are a little more normal. I think they're on the right track, just need a few tweaks and REALLY need to figure out what's wrong with their fryer.

I started writing this review with 3 stars but as I thought about each part of my dining experience I started removing stars. So here we are with 1 and here is why. The inside is not what we expected. It's not styled or decorated nicely at all. The few tables that were there were dirty. I cant imagine what the restrooms look like here. I'm usually down for trying random hole in the wall type of places to eat but this area is pretty ghetto. There was a woman wearing what looked like just panties outside next door. They are not accommodating and the menu cannot be modified. How a dish is listed dish is listed is how it will come. Naomi's, the cashier, response to a request was "I don't know what to tell you, that's how it comes" The overpriced mofongo is $17. It's a dish made of plantains, probably one of the cheapest things to make. We ordered a beef less empanada. The beef less meat was very dry. The outside of the empanada had a nice crunchy texture. The beef less stew was ok, a little bland. A lot more rice in the plate than I expected and wanted. We will not return. It wasn't anything special or that I can't make better at home.

A gem in East Orlando! The food was excellent with tons of flavor. Great vegan spin on Puerto Rican dishes traditionally made with meat. The restaurant was very clean and the service was great.

Pro:: 1) The person who took my order was friendly and attentive. Con: 1) Toilet seat was pretty gnarly. Wasn't willing to use the facilities while waiting for my food. 2) After seeing the commitment on their website of: "We refuse to compromise on quality in our restaurant. That's why we source our fresh ingredients (sic)in occasions ingredient and availability of items may vary by seasons" I was really excited. I was specifically looking for a vegan food restaurant that had fresh ingredients, and ordered the Vegetable Mofongo. I was terribly disappointed when, for $14+tip, I opened the container to find this. Oily and hardly "sautéed" freezer veggies. Nearly invisible chips of peppers. Still had that "frozen veg" flavor underneath everything. The Mofongo was under seasoned and the oily garlic and onion powder flavor on the veg overpowered any seasoning that was actually on the main dish. My mouth actually felt coated by it after. I had started to eat the food before I thought to take a picture, so there was more veg than showed, but quantity isn't my complaint. If you go through my profile, you'll see I'm not much of a reviewer. I usually just take the "L" and move on. But this was particularly disappointing based on what was committed vs. delivered. I'm certainly willing to give them another try in the future with a different dish, but I'll have to ask a lot more questions to temper my expectations.

Out group tried and liked the Pastelon, empanada, vegetable mofongo, arroz con gandulea, white rice and beans were good. I had my heart set on the mondongo ball and they were not available as Several items on the menu were not available. I ordered the pastelon and yellow rice and plantain soup to go. It was actually fresh and delicious will definitely order again! The surrounding area it is located is rundown and slightly hoodish like the reviews say however businesses have to start somewhere and hopefully as they get more attention they'll be able to expand into nicer areas. read more

Freaking delicious!!!!!!!!! So glad I came across this place randomly. It's a bit hidden in the shopping center and it's currently closed for dine-in but you can order for take out. I absolutely love Latin food so I was super hype to order from here. Especially vegan Puerto Rican food? Hell yeah, mi gente!!! The portions are huge and tasty. We ordered the grilled chick'n and the pork. They both came with our choice of yellow rice with beans and chorizo & tostones. We also ordered a lentil and beef less beef empanada. I still can't get over the fact that everything is vegan. I definitely will be coming back here!! So tasty! read more

I am trying to eat more plant based food so I stopped by The Earthy Kitchen on 2/22/20 around 5pm. I ordered the pastelon with white rice and a side of beans. The food was not fresh at all, it seemed like it may have been sitting under warmer for too long so it was overcooked. The beans had a decent flavor but I just did not enjoy my food not one bit. I also ordered Mofongo balls as an appetizer and I did enjoy since it was cooked fresh to order. They are fairly new, so I hope they can make improvements with the way they serve their food ensuring it's being served fresh. read more

I've only been vegan 4 years and there's only been a few places that have wowed me. As a Hispanic it's hard to find that comfort food that you grew up with but THIS WAS IT so packed with flavor and fresh. Please go I promise you you won't be disappointed . This food was amazing! My boyfriend and I went vegan a few months ago. About a month ago we drove all the way from Kissimmee (80 minutes roundtrip) to get some authentic vegan PR food (my boyfriend is Puerto Rican) and it was worth every minute! We are still thinking about that food! We stuck the fries, empanadas and cubano in the air fryer since the steam from being in the bag made them all a little soggy. The stewed chik'n I warmed in the microwave. The texture of the chik'n in the stewed chik'n is absolutely mind blowing. I couldn't believe it wasn't the real thing. I don't even like cubanos and I had a bite of my boyfriend's and again, it was absolutely unbelievable. As for the carrot cake, I had been craving it and trying to make my own but I just couldn't get it right. I was in love! I can't believe how talented these guys are! Was excited to try this out because it's a plant based Puerto Rican restaurant! The service was very very excellent. I believe her name is kris, either way she provided excellent customer service and was very knowledgeable about Everything on the menu. The food was very delicious and exceeded our expectations. I ordered just sides for myself, although everything was Tasty, the sweet plantains and avocado seemed to be very lacking in portion size in my opinion, they could've had bigger slices of plantains and more avocado. Over all a great experience. I would come here again, but I wouldn't order just sides because yoU don't get bang for you buck that way. Overall, this place has authentic and delicious food. Ps. The food here is SO good! It's great to be able to eat hispanic food that is vegan and tastes great. My favorite meal is the jackfruit entree with the pasta salad. Earlier this year, my new Endo recommended The Earthy Kitchen (vegan Puerto Rican food). With family stuff & Covid, we never got around to trying it until this past weekend (masked/takeout). OMG! The food is so very good. The Jackpork, arroz con gandules, plátanos maduros, & tostones were scrumptious. Today I ate the first of the frozen pasteles that we brought home & they were excellent. Definitely adding @theearthykitchen to our rotation of regular faves. read more

I recently began making the move towards vegan eating. I was surprised that there was a restaurant that has Latino food that was plant based. I decided to go to The Earthy Kitchen to get some food. The experience was awful. First, the Tsaritsyn was about 100 degrees. Although there were three employees working, not one of them could take my order because none of them could use the POS. I had to order my food on my phone and pay online which I didn't care for. They didn't have some menu options I wanted, especially the guava quesito which was sitting right in front of me but I couldn't get because it wasn't listed online. I get my food and go to my car. The worker comes running out and tells me because she didn't confirm my online order fast enough, the payment was stopped. So she asked me to check my bank account and let her know. At this point, I was frustrated With my first vegan restaurant experience. I just gave her the bag with the food and left. Terrible experience. read more

Im vegan and Hispanic so of course I was so excited to see a vegan Puerto Rican spot open up. I tried the chik'n empanada - delicious but was a little over fried, the papas locas which were great and the alcapurrias and mofongo balls were really good too. The Fried Chicken Basket however - zero stars. I got excited when I saw it because vegan "fried chicken" isn't served at any of the other vegan spots in Central FL but I was very disappointed... first, don't say on your menu it's homemade battered fried chicken when it's literally just Gardein chikn tenders battered and fried, dishonest to say it's homemade and have someone pay $10 for something they could have made at home for half the price. Second, they were way over fried. Burnt actually and SO greasy. The fries were soggy and not salted. If it wasn't for that I would have given five stars. Worth the trip but stick to the "traditional" PR food. read more

I gave this restaurant too many chances, as a Puerto Rican myself I was excited to see there was a place that served vegan Puerto Rican food. However, there were a couple of incidents that was hard to overlook. First time I ordered was through UberEats and there was a hair found in my pasta salad and it was dark and curly which is not my hair type. Never got that issued resolved. Now recently I decided to give them another shot and I always ordered the stew chicken meal but this time the food as a whole had no type of flavor at all. The stew chicken was very mushy and soggy which turned me off and it had no flavor. The rice and beans were very dry and also tasted flavorless. The only good thing that tasted good was the sweet plantains. So I called and was told the manager would get back to me and never did. The next day I called again and was told the same thing and still haven't heard anything. So honestly just do yourself a favor and save your money and cook it your own vegan Puerto Rican food. It would probably taste so much better lol... read more

Food was served cold. Not room temp but cold. Stew was so salty is stung your mouth. We were told the $10 wings were homemade but when pressed, they admitted it was gardein so we literally paid $10 for three gardein tenders cut in half. Nothing was fresh. No flavor. We've been veg for a while and this place is not very good compared to all the incredible vegan restaurants in Orlando. :( read more
