Bid for a 4* hotel in Downtown Seattle on Priceline - this was it. Staff: 4* - The front desk staff were super nice, helpful, and overall amazing - Housekeeping while super nice as well reaaaalllyyyy need to learn to knock before barging in. Especially on a Sunday morning at 9am. Rooms: 3.5* - Rooms were on the small side with a (not unpleasant) "rustic cabin" vibe, very clean, nice bathrooms, soft comfy beds, and in-room fireplaces were cosy & lovely - However, 4* this is not...I have a really hard time placing this hotel in the same league as a Westin. Location: 3.5* - Not nearly as centrally located as I would've liked. Pike Place is about a 10-15min walk, but anything else you're looking at driving or taking the hourly complimentary shuttle. Restaurant/Extras: 1* - Restaurant food was a total FAIL. Gorgeous entry and foyer. Plush rooms with seriously heavy lodge and Ralph Lauren decor. Think birch wallpaper, bear shaped foot stools, and raw-like wood four poster beds... plus a giant antler chandelier upon check in. A little silly, but also a little fun- felt like Jackson Hole, WY, View rooms flatter the Seattle waterfront and provide gorgeous sights even in the dreary rain. Remodeled bathrooms are posh and spa worthy- favorite part of our room. Nice Seattle hotel! Right from the start, the front desk assistant named Tonga wasn't very helpful and told us that some thing would be added to our tab without explaining what they were. He also forgot to inform us about some of the more important things like check-out time and Wi-Fi situation. The room was nice and cozy, but that is where the good things ended since we went down to go heat up some leftovers for breakfast and Nick, the bartender, didn't even let us eat in the restaurant when there was no one else there. He politely asked us to move to the lounge. Good job loosing a return customer. read more

I've been lucky enough to be treated to two stays here on recent trips to Seattle. The rooms themselves are more cozy than luxurious, but the fireplace makes it a perfect place to sit and read a book. Trying to get internet has always been a bit wonky, but it always ends up working out. My absolute favorite part of this hotel is the restaurant. The entire water-facing wall of the restaurant is made up of windows, opening to the most gorgeous view of Elliot Bay. With booths that allow you to melt into the cushioning, and well chosen decor, eating a meal here is really an experience for all the senses. Once, I ate a sticky, moist oatmeal while watching a rainstorm pass over the bay. On another occasion, enjoyed a dinner with my parents full of delicious mussels, scallops, and crab. The bottle of wine and great company helped that particular experience for sure. I've also just stopped by for a light happy hour, brut rose and tempura asparagus. I've honestly never been disappointed with the food or the ambiance for any meal. The service can be a bit spotty sometimes unless you luck out and get the slightly older breakfast and lunch waitress. She is the sweetest and most attentive member of their staff. read more

I totally loved this hotel, the decor theme, location and customer service were great. The staff were so friendly and hospitable. I felt at home in my waterfront room and slept very well my two nights there. The room itself was neat because the heat was temperature controlled and uses the fireplace to heat up the room rather than central heat. If you take the Argosy boat tour for the Puget Sound you also learn that this hotel was made famous by the Beatles. At that time when the hotel first opened, guests could go fishing right from their room balcony on the waterfront. The history makes it all the more special and I'm so glad I was able to share this memory with my bf. read more

Beyond the Beatles fishing out of the window and Led Zeppelin doing something else with a fish here, this is just a great hotel. The only hotel that's on the water in Seattle, it has amazing views and incredibly comfortable beds. Just a handful of restaurants within walking distance, but with Six Seven (http://www.yelp.com/biz/six-seven-seattle) right downstairs, you won't need to go anywhere else for a drink or food. read more

The Edgewater is apparently the only water-front hotel in Seattle. If you stay in one of the rooms with the view of the water, you will enjoy an amazing scenery of the Puget Sound and many boats/ferries. If you stay on the city side, you may hear the trains going by. (The room came with earplugs.) The lobby area reminded me of that of a quaint sky lodge completed with a massive fireplace. We stayed on the 3rd floor, which had quite a dated carpet and wallpaper, and it smelled old... We stayed at this hotel because the wedding we were attending took place there. The wedding/reception area was amazing. The room had massive windows overlooking the water, and you can enjoy all the activities. Our food tasted good, and the hotel staff were courteous and professional. Although the room had nice and modern amenities, it was quite small and felt dated. The (queen-sized) bed felt lumpy and small. The valet parking was $50 after tax, which is a bit outrageous. It was convenient to stay there because of the wedding, but I don't think the price justified the quality of stay. read more

Newton's Third Law of Motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The Edgewater Hotel seems to have a very similar thing going on. After staying twice through priceline bids, it seems that for everything they do badly once, they also do something well another. The first night they stuck me in the single worst room in the hotel. It had a beautiful scenic view of the valet circle, the milling workers, and everyone coming in and out of the hotel. The second time (after schmoozing) I got a view on the third floor with a nice view of the city. The second time the room was incredibly noisy with the people (or restaurant perhaps) slamming all around and making all sorts of a racket. The first night was actually quiet despite the poor location. The first time the toilet broke. The second time all the fixtures worked perfectly. The second time they messed up the priceline reservation dates I had, said that my stay was cancelled because I hadn't checked in the previous day, and then took some time to figure out that it was their error. They doubled up by trying to bill me for the previous day upon my exit. The first time everything went smoothly. The first time the staff was kind of rude, unwilling to budge on letting me not have the worst room in the hotel, and took forever to fix the broken toilet. The second time the staff was consistently friendly, helpful, and kind. It's a beautiful hotel, but all the inconsistencies kind of ruin it. All the other 4 star hotels in town do things much better more often. While I got very excited the first time I see it come up on the priceline screen, I will sigh if I see it come up again. read more

I was here for an user event for one of the tools that my company uses. The food was quite decent. Usually the food at these seminar type of events is just mediocre but there were some serious food that was catered by the hotel (although this could be a factor of how much the vendor spent on the event). There was a big selection of cheese with the different hummus spread and fruits. I did wish there could have been labels in front of the food so that I could know what I was eating and avoid any potential allergens. The staff were very professional. The servers, the valet, and the bartender were all very pleasant.The event setting was in a room upstairs with a few poles that obstructed the screen view. But the view outside the window was very nice. I stopped by at the hotel restaurant a bit later and was contemplating eating dinner there. The hostess showed us the menu and when there was nothing that interested us, she referred us to nearby Belletown restaurants. I thought that was a very nice thing for a hotel staff to do. She gave us a map and drew out the route that we should go and where we ought to park. I was quite please with the service overall. read more

Great place, but left feeling gouged. Stayed here for a convention. Springing for a nicer place seemed like a good idea. The rooms are nice, the restaurant/bar is amazing, solid service, etc. so I should have left being pretty stoked about my stay. Why am I not? My bill came as an unpleasant surprise. I got what seemed like a pretty good rate for the room all things considered ($215/night plus a whopping 42 for parking). But then, tucked away with about $45 worth of room tax, sales tax, and other taxes and fees beyond the hotel's control was a "facility fee," which was for the fact that certain amenities (wifi, business center, etc.) simply exist in the hotel. Sorry, but this nothing more than a bit of a scam that basically makes it look like your rates are lower than they really are. read more

Great! I love the Edgewater... It truely does fit your room if you stay at the oceanside view. You feel as if you're right on the edge of the water...and you actually are!!! The water goes right under your window. I was at the floor right above the water, and I felt like I was on a stationary cruise ship at the level right above the water. If you're not at the oceanside, well it's still great too because the lobby has the great edgwater view, plus the rooms are so well appointed. It has a very glamorous yet rustic and cabin-like northwestern feel. Lots of wood, lots of quilts, lots of antlers, and lots of cute teddy bears (either one on your bed or as an ottoman). They really pay attention to details here at this hotel...In my room, I felt like I was at a small botique bed-and-breakfast. But let's not leave out the rustically designed lobby and sitting area with a giant fireplace, cathedral ceilings with wood awnings, and spectacular view, huge couches and tables for playing games, music.... It's worth the money you pay for here. I wouldn't call it a 4 star wow wow luxury hotel with all the trimmings, but the uniqueness of it especially amongst the ambience of rustic seattle is quite worth it. They really do play out the Beattles theme and are proud of their piece of history with the famous band having stayed there in 1964. The close location to downtown seattle is an added bonus, though if you're after being *right in the heart of downtown* I'd skip this place as it's a 15 minute walk through some akward and hilly sidewalks..but doable. p.s. They do sell the really nice hand-crafted bear ottoman in the hotel's gift shop if you want to take a piece of the northwest home with you. read more

Billed as 4-star we were given a broom closet, so small you could not cuss a cat without getting fur in your mouth. Could only access bed from 2 sides. Paper thin walls and, across the street, 2-3 freight trains every hour ALL NIGHT LONG. the capper is $34/day to park your car !! DO NOT STAY HERE!! read more

The Hotel: Awesome. The Food: Subpar I give this amazing hotel a 4 star rating due to the room service. I mean the wait for our breakfast was like 50 mins and the crab cake eggs benedict had a layer of spinach that ruined the whole dish. If I want spinach with my eggs, I would prefer them Florentine. Our loss ended up a big win for the flock of seagulls (smirk) just floating outside of our windows. Overlooking the water and just spectacular. The crisp air as you opened up the sliding door was the perfect wake me up since the two fireplaces kept the room toasty. Two flat panel tv's, a sitting area, dining table for two, stocked fridge, mini bar, snack basket. They pretty much thought of everything. The bathroom was probably the most impressive aspect of the room. Stone floors that had a smooth yet rough looking stone floor covered the free standing cast iron bath tub that faced the giant king sized bed. And a separate little bathroom and shower that had a rain shower head. Oh yeah, the bed was really comfortable and came covered with goose down pillows. The whole decor was very NW and to a native seemed a little kitsch but when in Rome right? We had a good time and really enjoyed a mini vacation in the city. I was so happy I decided to go to the Edgewater instead of the W. If you're visiting town or just want to relax for a weekend in comfort, give the Edgewater a hard look. read more

Ever been to a waterfront hotel or restaurant that seems to be resting on its laurels because they have a nice location? The Edgewater is one of those places. For a hotel that charges just under $300 a night for city (and train) views and just under $400 a night for waterfront views, this place is definitely not worth the $$ unless the location is important to you. List of things that sucked about my Edgewater experience: - The room was tiny. Basically 10x10 not including the bathroom (which was large.) - The bathroom had an unpleasant mildewy smell. - The wi-fi is extra and their web site does NOT tell you that. - The faux fire place constantly generates heat even when off which means the AC constantly goes off in an eternal battle to keep the room at a decent temp. - The AC is loud and blows a stream of icy air right on to the bed. - The lighting in the room is horrible. With every light in the room on, I still could not see the contents of my suitcase after the sun went down. - The bathroom sink barely drains due to a design flaw- there is no air valve. There is even a pretty printed card in the bathroom that states three different techniques to help make the sink drain faster. (Yes, this is real. One technique is to the swoosh the dirty water around with your hand to create an air bubble near the drain.) Other things about the hotel are decent; the lobby, the shower, the service. But for the money, the above problems are unacceptable. Bleh. read more

I don't normally post bad reviews. In fact I wasn't planning on really sharing my bad experience with the world regarding my stay at the edgewater in March this year. But then today I received a letter informing me that my cc information may have been stolen in a POS system when I stayed there. The fireplace was supposed to work--it didn't. I called to complain, they told me to fiddle with the control and it should turn on. It didn't work but I never bothered to call back. We were in a non-smoking room and had a cigarette on the balcony we paid A LOT of extra money for. I figured since we were outside, it wouldn't matter. We got handed a $250 cleaning bill. These people are crooks and if my bill wasn't the initial indication, it certainly was the letter 9 months later that they discovered fraudulent activity and POS malware on their cc system and that my credit was exposed. Stay far away if you want to have a good experience. Much more cost appropriate places to stay with better quality accommodations and service. read more

I can't even muster 2 stars. For the $350 price tag (supposedly included 20% discount and a comp upgrade, think that's a standard line at check in to make you feel better) I expected something special. The only thing I hadn't seen elsewhere was the claw foot bath with the bathroom wall taken out. Getting to my room took some time. Firstly because the directions to the elevators don't include "walk half a mile down the hall". I walked a quarter of a mile and came back to reception thinking I'd gone the wrong way. Another reviewer mentions the smell of smoke and poop through the hallway. That's nailed it. I was trying to pinpoint the unpleasant aroma, taking shallow breaths for the entire trip (probably what made it feel more like the half a mile), and only reading the other review is it clear this is a regular bonus. Its a distinct in-the-walls type of smell of septic and old smoking days which is incredibly unpleasant. Another element of check in: staff immediately withdrew from me when payment wasn't as straightforward as they liked. I think I can say snobbish without feeling unreasonable. Plus a refusal to correctly read the name on my booking... In punishment of the payment dilemma? (It was read correctly on first contact). I also had the room opposite the elevator. Must be the room they put guests using the discount rate. Rooms are not soundproof by any stretch and I heard every conversation of people arriving or departing in the elevator all night. Tv: had been disconnected. Took the on duty attendant a while to work out how to get it to function. How/why it would have been so disabled was puzzling to both of us. Power had also been shut off to the fridge? More stale smells to enjoy... Views were...of Seattle industrial area across grey harbour water, so you kind of pay for the discount. I did like the pillows. But the pretend thin duvet: not so much, (more luxury to be found in a Best Western). Hand lotion pump in bathroom was not functioning (and clearly had not been for some time), and shower lotion pump had to have the dried out clog hanging from the spout removed. Eww. Carpets. Thin brown with red splotches on diamonds. Enough said. Fireplace is on a timer, which is nice (needed for thin duvet). But gives you several wake-you-up-with-what-the-heck-is-that countdown beeps with 1 minute to go. Why, I ask. Why? Dark brown ikea chairs by the fire didnt do anything for my feeling of money well spent either. All in all, just a blech experience. $400 including compulsory parking (declined to pay for Internet) for an experience I'll quickly forget except for the hole in my bank account. Next time I'll opt for a younger hotel of which there are several and come down and take a photo to satisfy historic interest. * Comparing to multiple international stays in 4* plus hotels, it appears this one charges for the historical significance, in dated surrounds, though the smoke you smell may be from the Beatles era, if that's your thing. read more

I've recently been a vendor at a wedding at Edgewater Hotel. The Goods: Obviously the venue is absolutely beautiful, and it is a great location, some of the waitstaff were lovely The Bad: I was shocked at how some of the staff treated the bride, after it came out that a major mistake was made on the restaurants behalf, which resulted in the Bride and her guests breaking down and moving their own tables. The person who seemed to be in charge treated us very rudely and told one of the waiters that was taking our order that it "didn't matter" regarding the cook on our proteins. We have visited hundreds of venues but this one takes the cake on how they treated their bride. read more

The view on the waterside is what makes this hotel in my opinion. Yes it is expensive, yes a little outdated, yes there is a faint odor in the hallways. . but given the views of the water , with the mountains, west seattle docks, the pier & ferris wheel, cityscape i feel it was worth it. Room service was good every time and we are picky eaters. The main room is older decor, bed seems very broken in. Bathroom was nice, much more modern, claw foot tub, very clean and enjoyable to soak in. Shower is glass & stone, spa style shower head. The view at night of the stars was amazing..orion's belt was overhead and I was stoked to catch the view. Very close to pikes market & dt, walkable if your somewhat fit as we are, and we did walk it. Plenty of taxis if walking the city isn't your thing :-) read more

My first trip to Seattle, and the Edgewater Hotel - not bad at all. The hotel is right on the water, and the view of the bay is spectacular. The Beatles used to stay here back in the day, and I can understand why. It's kind of a quirky place a mix of rustic and shabby chic, but I like it. Great lounge too! By the way, Seattle is beautiful - if you have never been here, make the trip. read more

This isn't the Taj Mahal, but it's a location which can't be beat in Seattle. I've stayed here often in a variety of rooms: The Beatles Suite (brilliant!), Penthouse Suite (fabulous loft-style with views to die for), and all waterfront rooms. There was also a conference room type suite which was rather smart. I've stayed in other nice hotels considered more classy, but it's hard to debate waterfront and dramatic views of the Olympics with a straight face. The costs are reasonable, and frequent visitors are offered special treatment, rates and small perks wherever possible. The service has always been attentive, the menu is diverse with tasty food and fair prices, and the brunch is a delight. There's a quaint gift shop with hooded sweatshirts if relaxing on your suite balcony gets chilly, and a warm fireplace for both romantic ambience and that Calgon bath feel. One can also get out and walk along a vibrant waterside area of shops and restaurants...even take a boat to British Columbia. read more

The staff was friendly and location was prime. We liked the fact we could walk to places we wanted to go to. Pike's Place, Seattle Aquarium, The Crab Pot. We were pleased with the accommodations. We were disappointed that there was no self parking and only valet parking. It's $38 a night, plus $8 tax/fee for each night. You can come and go as you please, but tipping the valets each time gets costly too. So, our 4 nights (in a $200 a night room) left us with a $185 parking bill at the end of our stay. If you opt to stay here, go for it. It's a nice place. But just be prepared to take a hit in the wallet for parking. read more

Very nice hotel the only complaint that I have are the beds in the rooms are two small they need to get queen size beds in the rooms!! But the rooms are so small they probably wouldn't fit. I love boutique hotels like The Edgewater. I scored a room on Priceline for $95/night. Awesome deal as far as I'm concerned. Stepping into the lobby, I felt like I was entering an old Pacific Northwest hunting lodge mixed with a modern lounge. The vibe extends into the Six Seven restaurant/lounge, and the rooms as well. I was given a city view room. Although I had reviews saying that these rooms were loud due to the train tracks across the street, I slept like a baby. The room itself was a touch small, but I'm a small person, so it didn't bother me. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom with its stone shower was one of the best I've seen in my frequent travels. Not sure what the rack rate for rooms here is, but if you're bidding on Priceline for a 4-star hotel and end up with the Edgewater, consider yourself lucky. Great location too... I always enjoy staying in city neighborhoods rather than the downtown business districtks when I travel for work. read more

Upfront, I've never stayed here, I live close by, but I've eaten here multiple times. It's one of my favorite lunch places and they have a great happy hour Sunday through Thursday. When we needed a venue for our daughters wedding it was the first choice because of the location and the view. You need to book about a year out as, especially in summer, they sell out quickly for weekend weddings. From the first meeting with Catrina, one of the hotel's wedding planners, we knew we were dealing with professionals. The food was excellent. We did a buffet with pasta, chicken, salmon and perfectly prepared beef. I'm not a salmon fan, but I do know that the groom, Seattle born and bred, had three servings. Other people remarked that it was some of the best salmon in specific and wedding food in general that they'd ever had. Service was flawless. And Catrina was there from start to finish to make sure it went as planned. A good time was had by all. read more

Alright, so I didn't stay here.. BUT.. I did wander around and here's my story if you'll indulge me for a second. My friend and I meant to go to the restaurant in the Edgewater after massively craving seafood and checking out Yelp reviews.. but once we saw the prices and the limited food selection we decided to head elsewhere (to a place that's even more expensive but had more options.. sigh). We stumbled onto their "lobby" when we were trying to find a trashcan for our coffee or gum or something. Whoa. What's up COZY! If I lived here, I'd definitely go and hang out in their lobby every once in awhile. Sure it has that country club version of a hunter's cabin to it.. but there were blankets and pillows and a fire was going. Plus it's RIGHT on the water (I think it even extends over it). It almost feels like you're on a boat, the view is that cool. We sat for a little bit and saw a happy little sea otter (or seal?) maxin', chillaxin', relaxin' all cool in the water. Oh.. and they even had board games and a nice set of chess (which I don't play because I only do it up computer style when it honks at you and tells you to move someplace else)! It is VERY woodsy but I think it'd be super cozy when it gets colder. It was just very chill - a woman was knitting, a couple was gazing out onto the ocean, and then there were spazzes freaking over aminals (and that would be me). PS - Hooray for nice clean "public" bathrooms (well you have to be semi sneaky.. but they are key operated or anything and they're relatively close to the door/restaurant. haha Good for pit stops when the waves and water along Alaskan Way really start to get to ya.. read more

When you stay at a hotel, you have to realize you will always be nickel and dimed. This is universal. I don't know of any high-end hotels that do not charge for wifi, for one. I also know that when I use Hotwire or Priceline, that I'm likely not going to get a nicer room unless I pay more. These are just hotel truths. if you can not deal with this, don't stay at hotels, or find the work around (for example, signing up for hotel frequent visiter programs often gets you free wi-fi) In any case, I was once again, shocked to see this hotel get such a low rating on Yelp, and I have to believe that most of these folks are amateurs or too high-maintenance to stay anywhere that isn't a chain. I scored the Edgewater on a very nice rate on Hotwire, last minute, and was extremely pleased with the location, and super-unique, mountain lodge decor. The elevator with sparkly lights was a treat, as well as the fake fireplace in the room. The hotel's lobby was gorgeous, and their restaurant actually had good food, not your garden variety hotel food. My one complaint was that my room was really, really small and actually felt a bit claustrophobic with all the pillows. But once I settled in, it was fine. Next time, I'll spring for that upgrade. read more

The preferred Seattle hotel by the BEATLES THEMSELVES! Found an awesome deal online to for $125/night (2 nights in Jan). Message me if you want details. This is pretty much the only hotel on the waterfront that literally sits over the water. The service was fantastic. So good that the first night, our AC was having problems, and the next night, they moved us to a room that had a bay view (a room that should be $50 more per night). Our favorite part of the room itself are the fireplaces. The fireplaces are gas, which is cool because all you have to do is press the button by the thermostat. Instant fire! Another plus to the hotel is their lounge area at night. It overlooks the bay, and the drinks are incredible. There were quite a few people there, and on Friday and Saturday nights, they have a live band. Rock and roll.. like the Beatles! read more

We got put in a room that was next to a door that went outside. They never locked it and people came and went as they pleased. There was so much noise in this room it made sleeping difficult the entire two nights we were there. I really have nothing good to say about this place because of this most recent experience. They even tried to nail me with some charges of stuff that I hadn't even used - LOOK AT YOUR BILL whne you check out folks ... don's assume they get everything right. Also, when checking in, they got our reservation all screwed up ... we had to wait several hours for our correct room to be ready. No doubt the views from this water front hotel are amazing especially from the restaurant and bar. But the rooms are a little lacking at any price. The old charm of the place wears off when you can hear the people in the room above you walking around. Also if you don't get a water view, it's just an old hotel with thin walls. The bathrooms have been remodeled but they're not particularly elegant or utilitarian, mine didn't have a tub just a shower. This place has its niceties but I think they're trying to sell it like a luxury hotel when it's simply not. read more
