Not sure whether because of lack of options or because I love it, this is my favorite brunch place in Tallahassee. They have a big menu, I've the lucky goat coffee. Bennys are so good that I can't get over them. On a Sunday morning, you'll always have to wait 20-30 minutes for a group of 3 or more. I've stopped eating red meat recently, but they can replace any meat with any other vegetable or meat. This is a good perk for me. I've never had a bad experience in terms of customer service and food. Recommendation is to try it at least once. read more

The Egg Cafe, use to be called "Another Broken Egg" which I learned from reading other reviews, and is the reason it's listed twice in Yelp. I have only been here twice now but I seem to remember the coffee being better the first time I came, now it's still better than most restaurants coffee but it's not exactly coffee house quality. As far as food they offer a large range of egg centric dishes which makes sense with a name like "The Egg Cafe & Eatery" you would assume that to be the case. Last time I had some pancakes and I seem to remember enjoying them. This time I went with an egg dish, the Irish Benny. I have to say it was delicious. Two poached eggs over English muffins topped with hollandaise sauce, Scallions, and home made corn beef...SIGN ME UP. All and all a great meal. Always a good place for brunch. A little expensive, but a good treat. I've never had a bad meal here. Atmosphere is a bit more upscale, so it's a nice place for a birthday or some sort of celebration, or just a fancy weekend outing. That being said, casual is acceptable too. Alright so this was pretty disappointing start to finish. I have reasonably specific times not because this is something I ordinarily do but because timeliness became a bit of a highlighted item during our stay. We arrived at just before 10:00 am with a party of 5. We weren't seated until what my phone said was 10:43. The reason given was that they only had a few tables for seating 5 that were in use and store policy prevented adding a seat to a 4-top or putting two smaller tables together. For context, they were busy but not very much so. There was only one group waiting to be seated ahead of us when we arrived. By the time we were seated another 8 groups ranging from 2 to 4 people arrived and were seated. We are finally seated and quickly discovered why it was taking so long to get the larger tables opened. Very slow service. So after initially taking our drinks and food orders, accomplished by 10:52. We didn't receive our food until 11:36. Only one plate was steaming/hot. The rest were all barely warm. It seemed apparent to us that 4/5 dishes were prepared and then spent considerable time under a heatlamp while the last was forgotten or delayed. Speaking of forgotten, we saw our waiter 3 times. Once taking the orders, again after we had to ask the hostess to find our waiter for us as she was finishing seating another table (and even that took a while, so maybe ask for them to leave a pot of coffee if they're going to forget about your table and you want more than a single cup), and finally during the delivering and paying of the check. In total we spent nearly 2 hours, received barely warm food which, to be fair, was okay and I imagine would have been pretty delicious hot, saw our waitress 3 times, and spent more time with empty coffee cups than filled ones. Not sure if one-off experience or emblematic of greater issues. Personally none of our group will be visiting again. Visitor beware. read more

This is a very nice place and I like the food very much. I love the atmosphere. I don't like when you're not acknowledged when you arrive and you have to sit and wait without there being anyone up front. There was a person ahead of me who also was ignored, but then a gentleman came and he was attended to, so they should ask who was next. You should not have to ask for napkins or silverware nor should you have to wait for your cream for your coffee. These were minor details. but so important so it tells me that there is no supervision and a lack of training in the basics. The workers seem to be very nice, but the little details make a difference. I just read a review on this eatery, comparing it to another broken egg. This was an another broken egg restaurant, but the owner branched off and made it his own with a different name. That is why the food is so similar. The only problem I have with this restaurant is I don't eat here enough. LOL I went with a friend, we started off with Bingetes, she ordered the eggs Benedict, and I ordered the salmon omelette. Both were cooked to perfection and super delicious. Perfectly seasoned and very well cooked. The atmosphere is as previously described; like a country French restaurant. Stay away. Overpriced. Over cooked and cold food. Place was almost empty when we entered and we should have known. It took the waiter forever to come over. When he did, we asked to order and he said he had to come back. We put our order in and then it took 38 minutes for it to arrive. There were people who came in AFTER us who had their food and almost finished it before we got our food. When we got it, it was wrong and many things were missing. We talked to the manager and all he said was "well what can we help you with now?" With an attitude and as if it is okay that they didn't get us our food sooner and correct. Oh. My. Gosh. The Irish Benny is to die for. They are the first place I've come to in Tallahassee that services FRESH biscuits. Our server has been fantastic- there hasn't been a moment where our drinks have been more than half way empty. Dad has the biscuits and gravy which he was very pleased with. My uncle is a weirdo and doesn't like eggs, so he had pancakes and sausage patties which he quite enjoyed. But the Irish Benny, friends, come have this Irish Benny. Another time where I wish I could give 3.5 stars. The Egg is a pretty popular place around here and somehow I hadn't visited yet. We arrived around 10 am and waited ~20 minutes to sit down which isn't uncommon in Tallahassee on a weekend. Once seated it was nice to see that the entire dining room wasn't full, basically they weren't packing it without having enough servers. This has pluses because the servers aren't rushed and the place isn't loud and uncomfortable. Our server was excellent. She was helpful and attentive and had a good attitude. My fiancé had the special omelette which had every veggie plus bacon and cream cheese inside. He liked it a lot. His meal also came with potatoes and toast. I had the cinnamon roll french toast, which is an actual cinnamon roll made into french toast. It was delicious. It had fresh berries and cream cheese frosting on top. My only complaint was that it was $8.79 and it didn't come with eggs or bacon, and it was small in size as well. I did order a side of bacon and it was cooked just how I like it. I just feel like I'll be hungry sooner than later and other places in town tend to serve up rather large portions. I oscillate between sweet vs. savory breakfast wants and I think I may have liked this place more if I got something heartier because most of the options leaned that way. Terrible customer service. It wasn't even busy and we waited 20 minutes for our pitcher of Mimosa. We waited about 30+ for 4 beignets!!! Our waiter was extremely inattentive and did not care how long we were waiting we had an awful experience. The waiter was supposedly a manager at the other location but he need to stay over there. Another table next to us stated they knew this server and he was racist which is why he treated us this way, we were kind from the moment we made it to the restaurant. This is a huge brunch place and has an extensive menu. I don't think it is the best value in town, but it serves as more of a midde-of-the-road places that caters to the after church crowd. Let's face it, you can get the same food at Denny's, but this just tastes better. The way they make their money is up-selling sides. Coffee, bacon and anything not included with your meal usually starts at $2 extra. Just be careful when you start getting creative with your ordering, since it all ads up. read more

This place is the definition of brunch. They have a huge menu of breakfast and lunch eats. With such a large menu it is hard to choose, but I was in the mood for something a bit on the lighter side and got a veggie wrap. My co-workers and I shared the beignets and they started are brunch off right. They are served with apple butter and a citrus marmalade. The marmalade was my favorite and complimented the crispy beignets well. The veggie wrap was pretty good, a little too much onion for my taste, but not bad. I like the fact they have an extensive drink menu with signature bloody Mary's to chocolate milk. I opted for the chocolate milk and have no regrets. If I could give no stars I would, My wife and I went to eat this morning, we were sat and were COMPLETELY forgot about. With our one year old son, which I had to grab the high chair for myself. However, when I got food I was taken aback by how little hash browns they give you. Everyone at the table was just kind of staring at there plate like is this a joke. There was like a handful maybe enough for a toddler. When asked they said they changed there portion size. We ordered another side to share and it was still not enough. We always stop by for breakfast on the way out of town and happy to say The Egg has been very consistent with their food quality and service.
