I have NEVER left a Yelp review in my life! If I could leave zero stars for this place I would. I was recommended here by a friend who loved how Evan cut her hair. I needed a trim so I scheduled an appointment for a haircut with Evan. They did ask for a credit card to be on file incase you missed your appointment they will charge you or if you cancel last minute. I made the mistake of not writing down my appointment time and the day of the appointment I showed up at 2pm thinking that was the time we scheduled my appointment but Evan had already left because apparently my appointment was scheduled at 1pm. I was so confused since I never received any reminders through text, calls, or email. The receptionist Grace insisted they messaged me multiple times and called me but I never received anything. I asked her to try sending me reminders then while I was there to show her their system wasn't working. She tried calling me and I never received anything. She was as confused as I was and gave me the salon owners email Howie to contact him and tell him what happened. I emailed the owner and he responded a couple days later saying he will speak to the office to get more information and then get back to me. He called me a few days later to basically say he checked his system and the reminders were sent so it was a missed appointment. He basically couldn't help me. He didn't try to come with a solution at all just said it was my fault and that it was a missed appointment and that was it I was charged with no haircut. At the end of the day it wasn't the fact that they charged me for the appointment it was my mistake for not writing down my appointment time but the thing is I never received any reminders (even though they insist they did lol). The way he dismissed me was so unprofessional and disgusting. As a NEW customer you would think the business owner would have some type of customer service but he had none! I've been going to Adriana for the past few years now and I leave so happy after each appointment. She has done a few ombre and balayage styles and she is the only person I trusted to dye my hair purple for a few months. She got my hair back to my regular color now and my hair is still so hydrated and healthy. Her rates are very fair, she's always punctual, and booking is easy on The Establishment's website. The salon is small, very clean, and full with so many Aveda products. Parking is easy in the back also. I am very disappointed by this salon. It's a very expensive, fancy looking salon so I thought they're professionals. I went there yesterday for a hair consultation before my appointment because I needed an estimate for my budget. This was the hair I wanted. I said I would like half of my hair blonde, half of my hair to stay brunette. Me and hair stylist chatted for awhile. I accepted a treatment service too. It would come down close to $400 she wanted to do also hair cut and high lights low lights together which would come close to $700 I said I would have to come back for that in 2-3 weeks. But we agreed on the hair and appointment and I left the salon. Shortly after I got a call cancelling my appointment saying the hair stylist changed her mind and she didn't feel comfortable making my hair all of a sudden. I asked an explanation I was given no proper explanation. Then I was referred to the manager. I explained the situation. Instead of accommodating me with another hair stylist he referred me to a hair salon that doesn't even exist anymore. He recommended a permanently closed hair salon! He said my hair would be damaged. I asked how come bleaching my entire hair wouldn't damage my hair but half of it would? It didn't make sense to me at all. I have a European accent and I feel like this was discrimination. They refused my services before an important work event when it's too late for me to get a new appointment this last minute. Their explanation sounded like an excuse. I loved getting my eyebrows trimmed by Shanda and I will be back here for more. I forgot to leave a tip so I will have two tips for her when I come back. People liked the job she did on my eyebrows and the process was not very painful. She has trimmed the brows of many fellow Latino's in her career and I was glad to be part of that list. All of the staff was cordial and welcoming. I usually get fear, odd looks and snobbery from style or entertainment spots in upscale areas. I hear Priscilla gives a great shampoo too. I was looking for a new hair salon and new hair stylist to go to regularly. I found this place on Yelp and really liked the work they did based on the reviews and pictures. I came by unannounced and was hoping they could give me a consultation on the spot. They don't work like that though. I wasn't asked if I wanted to make an appointment for a consultation either. Also, it didn't dawn on me to ask for one until I got home. -_- I made an appointment for a consultation the next day with hassle. The time I wanted wasn't available and it wouldn't fit into my schedule. There was no leeway with their time either. Since I was annoyed from the get go trying to schedule a consultation. I also scheduled an appointment for the actual day my hair would be worked on. I wanted to go on a Saturday, but obviously it's busy so I was put on the cancel list just in case someone cancels. (Which was fine with me) Fast forward to consultation day the stylist who sees me wasn't going to be the same stylist who would do my hair. The lady gave some suggestions, but really it was all me saying what I wanted. (I don't know hair and I was looking for some of their professional suggestions. The girl at the front made the appointment from me and took a card number from me just in case I were to cancel I'd be charged. I made the appointment knowing I would cancel the following day. (I went to a hair consultation an hour before at a different salon) I wasn't too happy with the way scheduling appointments worked (my consultation), I didn't receive a warm welcome when I first arrived there unannounced nor when I went for my consultation, and the consultation I was semi disappointed that it wouldn't be the same stylist. Most of my gripes with the unwelcoming feeling were from the front desk. You would think that being at the front desk would be more welcoming, but it wasn't..I felt I was being judged and unwanted. I did a lot of research before deciding to try this place but my conclusion is yelp does not always get it right. Went in for a consultation before I booked my appointment and was quoted a price of 100 bucks for roots and toner treatment. Went in on the day of my appointment and I was not ecstatic with the results like the other yelpers but I thought to myself it could be worse. Then on checking out the front desk person said 130 !! I told her I was quoted 100, then she said the blow dry was 30 bucks ! No one asked me if I wanted a blow dry with my color ?! Because if I knew I had an option I would have done my color there and then run off to my girlfriend who does amazing blow outs for me at 20 bucks. I've never been to a salon where the quote of a color did not include a blow dry with it. Or at least they needed to mention it at the consultation or on the day of my appointment. I'd been wanting a haircut for a very long time. I decided to try my luck on Yelp and let me tell you - all these 5 star reviews of The Establishment DO NOT LIE! I seriously had the best haircut, dye, and experience here today. I feel like a total poop-face because due to some poor college budgeting (and an issue with my numero uno credit card) I was unable to leave Carly a stellar tip and I feel horrible about it. I hope she doesn't hate me, because I seriously love her. And come pay-day Wednesday you bet I am going to make it up to her. First....lets start at the beginning. I was very enticed with the Yelp deal which gives you $20 credit for $10. I ordered one and spoke to a man on the phone who took my appointment (for two days later, aka today) and scheduled me with Carly. Due to the bus I got there a little early and I walked around the neighborhood. From the street I could tell that the salon is well taken care of and I went down the block for some food and came back in time for my 10 am appointment. I was greeted by everyone who was very friendly and Carly came over and introduced herself. I was offered some of the legendary coffee, but I'm trying to cut back. The staff was very attentive though and checked in with me a few times in regards to coffee, tea, and magazines. My hair was a friggin' wreck and she had the most nonjudgemental tone to her when most other people would have been all "holy frig! what have you done to your hair?!" before she even asked what I wanted she had sat down with me and asked about my dying history (a question I'm used to considering I've had a super bright red head of hair for a while now). She asked about my last cut, my last colour, what I was wanting to do, etc. I had never had a hairstylist sit down with me for such a time before and discuss these things. Even though it was probably only a five/ten minute conversation it left a really great impression with me. I wanted to go back to a "normal" brown, and she explained to me that given the red in my hair it might take a few processes to get it completely normal. I was cool with that. I pretty much told her "brown, bob cut, you know more than I do so the balls in your court" and she ROCKED IT! We lopped off a lot of hair and then started to dye it. During the whole time I had a wonderful conversation with Carly and she is very pleasant to talk to. She is from Wisconsin and has that "not from California" vibe to her, I don't know how to describe it, but if you know anyone from that part of the country you know what I am talking about. When we washed off the dye she gave me the most awesome scalp massage ever. Seriously, I was in heaven. It wasn't some 30 second wham-bam either, it felt spectacular! The cut came next (the previous lopping of hair just being to remove tons of the length so we wouldn't have wasted our time colouring it) and my cut came out fantastic. She took the time to blow dry it, fix my bangs (which I had royally effed up) and make everything look perfect. All in all, it was such an amazing experience and seriously drop everything and go here! it is a bit pricey (especially if you are a broke as a joke college student like myself) but it is worth the investment. I feel like a million bucks, and already got a million complements on the way home. I also loved how the staff handled my very embarrassing credit-card snaffu. They were very polite and professional and let me step outside to call my bank to see whats up and then call my mom in a blind panic "hi? how fast can you get here with money?" Luckily everything worked out, and that was moreso my fault for not checking my balance before hand :T. And Carly, if you read this (I hope you do) I am very sorry that I was not able to leave you all that I wanted to, but you deserve so much more than I could leave. After so much thought, I finally decided to dye my hair for the first time. And of course, I couldn't have chosen a better place than The Establishment! I chose Jennifer Sarchet, based on her experience and what I wanted to get done. *Note - if you go on their website, they offer bios of all their stylists and their top 3 services. This is how I picked Jennifer :) * I decided on something not too drastic - balayage. My hair is naturally dark brown and I wanted to try something different, but not dye my hair in its entirety. I came in for a consultation three weeks prior (this was my choice/decision; you can definitely schedule something sooner) with Jennifer and showed her my ideas. She was very understanding to my constant change of ideas and hesitation, since it was my first time. Flashfoward to yesterday. I came in 6 minutes late (sorry!) due to a missed exit on the fwy. Jennifer and The Establishment were very understanding. The whole time I was getting my hair done, I had a great conversation with Jennifer. She was kind and was guiding me through everything she was doing to my hair. From the complimentary water, to the hair massage, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I called looking for an appt and the receptionist I spoke with on the phone (who I'm sorry I didn't get the name of!) was so kind and helpful. I told her my hair type and she recommended I see Belinda based on what I told her. I was able to get an appt with Belinda the very next day and was greeted by the same wonderful woman at the front desk who I'd talked to the day prior! She immediately showed me around the salon, including the lounge waiting area (separate from the front area and very nice!) and she showed me where the bathroom was so I could wash my hands (which I took comfort in during Covid. Also, everyone was wearing a mask the entire time I was there). Belinda came to get me from the lounge soon after and I could not have had a better experience with her. She was so attentive to the type of cut I was looking for, given my hair's texture, thickness, and my desired maintenance level, and she was very meticulous when it actually came to the cut and styling. I asked about products that would help my crazy frizzy hair and she offered suggestions and was so specific about how to use them, which I really appreciated. She clearly cared that I was happy with how it would turn out and enabled me to replicate the results myself at home. She was so friendly and clearly very good at what she does. Just got done with my hair appointment with Justine! First, the private lot was amazing. Didn't have to deal with the hassle of finding street parking. Second, I was greeted within minutes from the receptionist and Justine herself. I showed Justine a photo of the ombre colors I was looking for and she new exactly what to do. She was friendly. Turns out we both grew up from south central Wisconsin so it was fun reminiscing about our cities. The process was long and the foils were heavy but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm a medical field grad student, so I have no time to work (=penny pinching) and I struggle to find time to sleep and workout, so I've been jumping from salon to salon based on whatever Groupon I can score for a discounted haircut and I've been happy with the results for the most part, but never really blown away. I was in need of some major reshaping and a real bang trim given it'd been going on 14 weeks since my last trip to the salon and I'd been trimming my own bangs! I was skeptical of the perfect 5 star rating, but seeing that most reviewers have been busy yelping (not false yelpers with 1 or 2 reviews), I figured why not go for it. And heck, I just got my loan disbursed, so why not splurge on myself for once! I'm so glad I did, because now I think I've found my stylist! I arrived 20 minutes early for my appt and was greeted right away and asked if I wanted any coffee, tea, or water. I figured I'd be waiting closer to my appt time to be seen, but no, Monica took me right away. She ran her fingers through my hair, looked at the shape it had before, and explained how my hair hadn't been in as bad a shape as I thought split-end wise, and explained in full what she'd be doing. I pretty much melted in my chair when she gave me the scalp massage and some of my neck too with peppermint oil! I really liked that at the shampoo station she asked if I had any hair concerns or troubles to help her decide what shampoo to use; most stylist just get on with it. Monica was so easy to talk to and I absolutely love the way she cut my hair. My hairstyle didn't change drastically, but has body and moves much better. I had more compliments on my haircut yesterday than I can recall in a while - even the gal in the drive through at In-N-Out said she loved my hair and that's from just seeing it through my car window! Clean facility, hip neighborhood, welcoming and helpful staff. From what I've seen, skilled at both run-of-the-mill haircuts and those of the more eclectic kind. They cary a number of Aveda products and serve you french press coffee or tea while you get your hair cut. The vibe is very relaxed. I've had my hair cut once here and come back for a bang trim every now and then. Bang trims are only free three weeks post-haircut, but otherwise are about $10. "I'm the loser who's late" - I stumbled in right at my appointment time with no time to lollygag. Danielle was my girl for the next 45 minutes and she's now, my new favorite person. She started with a quick consultation, examined my horrible ends and gave me hope. The next step put me into pure bliss...a scalp massage with aromatic oil. I felt my entire day melt off my mind and eased into relaxation, I was in heaven. Danielle was very thorough and took her time with my hair. I didn't feel rushed and I felt welcomed. This was my first time! Impressions mean everything, yknow! The salon itself was beautiful. Simplistic, very clean and had some serious working professionals. I had a great chat with my stylist and now I feel like I can go back to her and she will know exactly what I want (unless I decide a serious chop or shave the side of my head). I have been going to the Establishment for about 2 years usually just for highlights and a cut. Everyone who works here is friendly and great! But, I never leave loving my hair, more just hoping that it will look better once it settles after a few weeks and/or grows out fast. Which, I see now is a common review. Recently got highlights and left again feeling fine about it, not loving it. Until I looked in a mirror in daylight and released how bad my hair was and then again when someone asked me "what happened to your hair?" Highlights are about 3/4 inch away from the roots, no dimension, and you can see actual brush marks at my roots underneath, overall, not a good/flattering color at all. Going to a different salon to get my hair fixed as I really don't trust this place with a redo of the highlights. So, just beware if you are blonde or going blonde and planning on coming here. read more

I had a gift card for a focus facial that I got right before the pandemic. So I decided to book it. It was nice and relaxing. When I went to pay, the amount on my gift card was less than the facial, even though it said in it that it was for the facial. On top of that there was a surcharge that wasn't mentioned on the website, when I booked or when I checked in. Very frustrating.
