Funghi focaccia -- rich and very filling

Most of the points below are for the restaurant to consider as feedback. The meal in itself deserves 5 stars. Came to celebrate a milestone moment with family and found the ambiance elegant and delightful. Having been here before, I was surprised that for early dinner and a space less than half capacity the service appeared overwhelmed. A long wait time to take an order, and would have appreciated a calmer approach from them once they were ready ro take the order for the table. Also, perhaps a recommendation for pairing one heavy carb item with a more balanced option would be appreciated next time. Lastly, one of the drinks was staining my hand and face; turns out that the red flavoring added to the rim of the glass was sliding down the side; service eagerly fixed it with a different drink. Nonetheless, the meal was memorable and I look forward to returning.

I meant my lunch buddy and we had a nice table and a good lunch. I ordered the Mandilli which is called silk handkerchiefs tossed in sauce. It was a specialty so I ordered it and it tasted pretty good and we shared a raspberry dessert

I've been wanting to visit this place for the longest time, so I was beyond excited to finally make it in -- and it absolutely lived up to the anticipation. I was able to explore a few items on the menu, and everything I tried left me wanting to come back and experience more. There's a thoughtful creativity behind the dishes that really stands out. You can tell the kitchen is led with intention and expertise -- every plate felt refined, beautifully presented, and balanced in flavor. Knowing the menu is crafted by a Michelin-trained chef makes the experience feel even more special. Service was equally impressive. Our waiter was incredibly warm and knowledgeable. He took the time to recommend standout dishes, share guest favorites, and explain certain menu items in detail, which made ordering feel effortless and personalized. The space itself is beautiful -- low lighting, elegant ambiance, and a very inviting atmosphere that makes it perfect for a date night or intimate dinner. Street parking is available, and they also offer parking, which makes it convenient. Overall, such a beautiful restaurant with elevated cuisine, attentive service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of the menu

Food: I came here for my birthday, a treat from my lovely husband, and The Factory Kitchen absolutely delivered on the food. The standout of the night was the mandilli di seta, their pesto handkerchief pasta. It was incredibly soft, silky, and practically melted in my mouth, with a perfectly balanced creaminess in the sauce. We started with the prosciutto, which was delicate, flavorful, and an ideal opener, especially when paired with a glass of Moscato Saracco, a heavenly combination. For entrées, the porchetta was rich, juicy, a little greasy in the best way, and melted as soon as it hit my tongue. The casonzei was also delicious, each little pasta pack filled with savory stuffing that made every bite satisfying. For dessert, I got a cannoli that came with a "happy birthday" chocolate garnish, such a cute touch. It wasn't complimentary (lol, it's fine), but it still made for a sweet ending to the meal. Overall, the kitchen and chefs delivered a truly excellent dining experience. Price: The Factory Kitchen falls into the higher‑end $$$ range, with most dishes priced in the high 20sto low 30s. The mandilli di seta, their signature pesto handkerchief pasta, runs about $28. Appetizers like the prosciutto cost around $29, while the casonzei comes in at $29. The porchetta is priced at approximately $32, and desserts such as the cannoli are listed at $12. Overall, diners can expect entrée prices generally between $28 and $34, appetizers ranging from about $17 to $29, and desserts around $10 to $12, making the restaurant a pricier but fitting choice for a special occasion. Ambiance: We had a reservation and were seated immediately in the very back corner. Surprisingly, despite a big awkward column right next to us, this ended up being a great spot, I had a clear view of the whole room, it felt more private, and it let me enjoy the atmosphere without being in the center of the bustle. The Arts District vibe is stylish and modern, and the room had a lively but not chaotic energy. Service: While the food was excellent, the service unfortunately brought the experience down. Our server refused to make eye contact with any of us, barely replied when I tried to make small talk, and brushed off my question about recommendations with a quick "whatever you like," without offering any helpful insight. A little later, a group of Caucasian guests sat next to us (FYI, my husband and I are Asian American), and I heard the same waitress laughing, chatting, recommending dishes, and joking with them, completely different from how she interacted with us. It was disappointing and very uncomfortable, and it took away from what could have been a 5‑star night. Parking: Typical Arts District parking, manageable but not the easiest. Street parking is possible if you arrive a bit early, and there are nearby paid lots if needed. I don't usually do this section, but this review needs one. Overall: The food and chefs deserve 5 stars, truly. But because of the service experience, I'm taking off 2 stars. I'm glad I tried it for my birthday, and the dishes were memorable, but I wish the service had matched the quality of the meal.

Factory Kitchen is less factory than it is kitchen and good riddance, cause it's an absolutely fantastic place to take your special someone to for a date, birthday dinner, or whatever. Make a reservation cause it gets nice and crowded even on a Monday night. We were seated in the cozy corner and started off with a Tokyo drift cocktail and moscato. For appetizers, the Prosciutto is a super popular item, and for good reason. The prosciutto, cheese, and green onion type pancake/bread thing all mixes to make for a nice savory, yet light starter for the meal. For our main protein, we got the Porchetta which was super crispy yet tender. Pork belly is a W in most cases so it was a nice take on a familiar meat. The veggies underneath are just there to make you feel better honestly, nothing special about them. The Mandelli di seta is what they're known for. Handkerchief pasta, which is fancy for one large sheet of soft fluffy pasta drowned in a rich pesto sauce. It's arguably bare bones but the flavor is so rich and amazing so definitely worth trying. The Cansonzei might have been my favorite pasta dish especially with how they integrated the sausage/meat into the pasta. It was a sodium rich savory pasta to make my peripheral edema worse but man was it worth it. For dessert, they graciously stuck a single candle and wrote happy birthday for the Cannoli we ordered. You'd think it'd be a little more than that but whatever. Orange marmalade and pistachio complements the cannoli so well my wife and I inhaled it. So compliments to the factory of a kitchen. So all in all, it's a pricey meal for what it's worth but the quality is great. The waiters/service can leave much to be desired though for the type of restaurant this is. I noticed certain.... demographics had better attention and care than others but hey, not trying to turn this into a Great White scandal, yet.

The Factory Kitchen was delicious! We cleaned every plate we tried. Our favorites were the frittura (fried leeks and chickpea fritters), mandilli di seta (pesto egg pasta, uniquely flat like a crepe), and cannoli. The restaurant offers unique flavors with everything freshly made. The porchetta and fegato (liver) were also great entrees. Our server was helpful, recommending great dishes like the cannoli. While we aren't usually cannoli fans, the freshly filled shells were crispy while the smooth ricotta and tart marmalade made these cannoli a table favorite. There was a good amount of street parking and a valet available. The restaurant is perfect for a higher end casual meal, and the more the merrier so you can share plates!

Came here for a holiday lunch. Menu was prefixed with appetizers, entrees, and dessert. The appetizers were salad, stuffed peppers and prosciutto with cheese on a flat bread. Entrees were Pesto Pasta, Porchetta and fish. Dessert was bread pudding and cake. The highlights were the Pesto Pasta, thin fresh pasta was a great fresh pesto. porchetta was a little tough. Overalll decent experience, Pasta was worth going again for, everything else was good and ok.

Have been wanting to come eat here as I have heard good reviews and recommended this place for Italian pasta. The restaurant has homemade recipes with pasta dishes made from scratch. Their most famous dish is the handkerchief style pesto pasta. I enjoyed the gnocchi malfatti, which is gnocchi with braised ox tail. The gnocchi was very soft and every bite was delicious and flavorful. I also got to try the focaccina which is thin, crispy flatbread. One was traditional with chesse and olive oil, and the other one was with sardines, which I think was on the salty side. Last was the porchetta, slow roasted pork belly Italian style. The porchetta meat was thick and juicy.

I surprisingly had never heard of Factory Kitchen, but we were headed to the opera in downtown and asked a friend for a pasta recommendation, and we were able to get an early reservation the same day. From the moment we walked in we liked everything. The setting and ambience were great, the service was top notch. A small detail, but it says a lot about a restaurant when they have black table napkins available upon request, brownie points for that! Our drinks were fantastic and the food was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try at least 10 more dishes off the menu. For dessert, we ordered the cannolis and they were absolute perfection. Before ordering, I asked if they fill the shells to order, and they do. In my opinion, and probably every Italian's, it's a crime to pre-fill cannolis because the shell gets ruined, but they did it right here. Definitely recommend this spot, our salad and pasta dishes were excellent, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Came here for a second time and wowza ordered the correct appetizers this time. BUMP to 5 STARS!! The pesto is UNREAL! We tried the following appetizers that were all amazing: cremosella (mozzarella arugula salad), prosciutto (sooo much meat!), and brodetto (amazing broth). Service is fantastic. Much quieter evening than last time which I enjoyed. They had the dodger game on tv towards the bar so we got to stay updated quietly.

    Ryan M.

The Factory Kitchen is one of the best spots for authentic, elevated Italian food in LA -- tucked away in a cool, industrial corner of the Arts District. The Mandilli Di Seta (the pesto pasta) is truly to die for -- silky, rich, and perfectly balanced. It's the kind of dish you find yourself craving long after the meal ends. We've actually gone back just for that pasta alone. The appetizers are just as impressive -- the prosciutto with burrata is simple but executed flawlessly, and the pork belly is tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Add in a warm, stylish ambiance and great service, and it's easy to see why this place is such a standout. Can't wait to go back.

Had a wonderful time at the place for dinner on a Wednesday night. Tried out a few dishes are all really yummy and great flavors Valet around $13 or street parking.

I saw this place on a social media post and decided to check them out. I went on a friday night and there wasn't a wait. One issue was parking is nonexistent and essentially forced valet for $12. I ordered a mandili di seta, ravioli di mare, and tagliolini. The mandili di seta and tagliolini came first and then the ravioli di mare. All the pasta were incredible, specifically the pasta. The mandili di seta ribbon pasta was silky smooth with nice bounciness. That same smoothness was there for the tagliolini and ravioli di mare. The problem was all 3 dishes lacked strong flavor. The tagliolini and ravioli di mare sauces were very light and almost just bland. Overall, great pasta but not so great dishes. Its a shame because if there was more flavor, the dishes would be incredible. Being forced to pay $12 for parking was also a sour note to start off. On the other hand, service was amazing and attentive.

I have hearing issues. It looks like one big room. How loud is it? And it looks like they dont have outdoor seating. Any info appreciated. DB

I don't remember it to be loud at all. We were a party of four and were able to carry on a normal conversation without hearing the conversation of the table next to us.

Is the handkerchief pasta still there?

    Had it today, delicious!

Do they have outdoor seating during COVID?

    Yes, plenty of outdoor seating.

    What's good to order?

Funghi pizza was amazing (I'm a mushroom lover)

The menu is inviting with plenty of great options without being overwhelming. Less is more. But let's talk art (culinary, that is). The dishes certainly deserve main features. To start "the best Caesar salad in LA" and I quote which was certainly true. Grilled octopus charred on the inside and juicy at the center. Spicy pomodoro is perfectly al dente and a well-balanced sauce. But, my favorite-- the agnolotti! Wow, melt in your mouth! The flavor profiles of corn, crème fraiche, and old bay were delicious. My only wish -- larger serving of this (smallest pasta serving on the menu). To complete it, banana pudding tiramisu -- delicious too with a firm center and oozy outside. Atala was wonderful and very sweet. Recommendation: come with a group of at least 4 to try more on the menu -- the large plates (branzino and ribeye) looked excellent! Definitely a worthwhile visit.

Everything was absolutely delicious! You really can't go wrong with any choices on the menu. Everything we cooked to perfection with a lot of flavor. Also, if you sit at the hightop bar, the kitchen is an open concept so you can watch the chefs cook and plate the food. As far as the drinks, I am not sure if they have a full bar but they do have a few selection of wine along with a small cocktail menu. I stuck with the cucumber basil (with tequila). Flavorful and refreshing. Street parking may be hard to find but they do have valet parking for $12. Overall, it's worth a visit. I look forward to dining here again.

Still stands-up to the hype after all these years…read more If "Trendy" was a restaurant, Bestia would easily be in top contention, even after being around for more than a decade. That says a lot. Once upon a time (a few years ago), my CFP + banking institution wanted to thank me for being one of their top private clients. They expressed their gratitude with a very generous, all expense paid full-course meal at Bestia. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Fast forward to now, I knew that coming back here would be a good idea. Make no mistake, even if you try to book a reservation several weeks in-advance, don't be surprised if the only available seats are at the counter. Granted, I was in a spacey table during my past visit, the counter can be an enjoyable & unintentionally entertaining space. It's great for a more casual vibe, as you get to see some of the kitchen workers put together some of their signature dishes. In many ways, Bestia seems like a microcosm of the city that it rather humbly resides within. What always catches me off-guard, is that the surrounding simple area really doesn't reflect the happening, vibrant, night-life that resides within the building's walls. You feel like you're taken so a different, very social, very bustling world. WINE: Podere 72, Poderi San Lazzaro (Marche region, central Italy) - 8.7 / 10 A very robust blend of Montepulciano & Sangiovese grapes that results in a balanced, medium bodied red wine that stands-up to heartiness of a beef ribeye steak. FOOD: Roasted Bone Marrow - 9.4/ 10 I have several friends that go here just for this particular dish. Funny enough, one can almost always tell that one is at Bestia because of the rather peculiar manner in which this dish is served. Hot, melted bone marrow is appropriately scooped out of the bone & poured onto spinach gnocchetti. It's like eating beef flavored mouth pillows of potato + spinach. It's definitely a dish that will impress whoever you are with. I can never resist ordering this whenever I am here. Oxtail alla Vaccinara - 8.9 / 10 The deep, rich maroon color of the rigatoni (thanks to beets) is a sight to behold. The pasta is firm but not too hard. It's a humble yet complex pasta dish that complements any main course. 26oz Margaret River Wagyu Ribeye - 9.4 / 10 Anybody who knows me knows that I love my ribeye. Any decent fancy restaurant does a ribeye. But no one does a ribeye quite like Bestia. The fermented mushroom cream delivers a punch of pungence not unlike a delectable dijon mustard, but to the highest of levels. This dish also makes me a believer in well-cooked onions served alongside steak. I usually like to take a home a portion of ribeye for later, but this is one of the very few instances when the steak is so good, that I can't help but finish it here. Again, the portion is more than enough to be shared. Fromage Blanc Mousse - 9.1 / 10 This seasonal dish hits all the right notes. It's the fanciest of cheesecakes, so I recommend sharing this. With its decadence, a little truly goes a long way & that's perfectly fine. The richness of the cheese is offset perfectly by the right balance of candied kumquats. A great "bite" to end on. Huge shout-out & thanks to Radu for being the nicest & most enthusiastic of servers. It's little things like him being so down to take pics of you with your party that really make me want to come back here. It the owners / management is reading this, please recognize how pivotal he is to your team. If he was working under me, I would most definitely give him a raise. Also, shout-out to Dani at the hostess stand. She is one of the most personable people. For being the first person that patrons see upon entering, she is the perfect face, attitude, & welcoming personality that the hospitality industry is in dire need of. She's a rockstar of a hostess & a pleasure to talk with. Bestia is a better place because of valuable employees like Radu & Dani. As always, come for the food. Come back for the service. I would definitely come back because of how amazing Radu & Dani are. Years after the hype, the vibe is still very much happening at Bestia.

The biggest disappointment was the service. Our server was unwilling to accommodate even simple requests. One friend in our group doesn't drink, and when we asked if her mocktail could be served in a cocktail glass so she could feel included, he simply said no. He also refused to make an espresso martini despite having the ingredients available. To make matters worse, one of our dishes never arrived. When we brought it up, the server responded, "I asked you if it came out and you said yes," instead of apologizing for the mistake. Afterward, he took the bill and appeared to be talking negatively about our table. For a restaurant with such a stellar reputation, I expected much better. This was actually my second visit. The first time, my husband and I stopped in for lunch and had a couple of items that were good, but I left feeling like maybe we just didn't order the right things. Since so many people seem to love this place, we decided to give it another shot. This time we came with a group of four and ordered a variety of dishes. We started with the octopus, tartare, and burrata appetizers. For pizzas, we had the Mortadella Pista and the Prosciutto with Truffle Oil Pista. We also ordered the Cacio e Pepe, mushroom risotto, and the Nutella dessert. The appetizers were okay, but the burrata was definitely the highlight. The pizzas were good and enjoyable, but nothing particularly memorable that would have me planning a return visit just for them. The Cacio e Pepe was decent, but the mushroom risotto was honestly the worst mushroom risotto I've ever had. It tasted like Campbell's cream of mushroom soup had been used as the base. The ambiance was nice, the service was good, and the drinks were enjoyable, but again, nothing felt especially memorable or exceptional. On a positive note, the prices were fair for what you get. Overall, I personally don't feel the need to come back. It's a perfectly fine meal, but with so many great dining options around, this just didn't stand out to me.

The Caesar salad and garlic bread was phenomenal, enough to make us come back just for the "appetizers." They were exactly what everyone had said they were going to be. The fusilli was also very good, not too spicy and the perfect mix of tomato/creamy. The chicken parmigiana was solid and it was huge! I don't think I'm the best critic of the chicken parmigiana since I rarely order at other restaurants but I had to try it since it was what everyone talked about. The flavor was great, but I could do without it and just order the Caesar, garlic bread, and fusilli

Everything we've tried has been excellent, and it's one of those rare restaurants where every dish feels like a hit. The Caesar salad is easily one of the best I've had. Every piece of lettuce is perfectly coated in dressing, the croutons are great, and the mountain of freshly grated cheese takes it over the top. The garlic bread is unreal. If you order the prawns, do yourself a favor and dip the bread into that buttery garlic sauce, spoon some extra sauce on top, and eat it while it's soaked. It's ridiculous. The Alla Vodka pasta is always a safe choice, rich and comforting without being too heavy. The lasagna came out with a beautifully crisp top straight from the oven and was packed with flavor. The potatoes were another surprise favorite--super crispy and served with a house-made aioli that made them impossible to stop eating. The chicken parm was excellent too: crispy, fresh, loaded with sauce, and exactly what you want from a classic Italian-American dish. The meal ended on a high note with complimentary limoncello shots from the house. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and panna cotta. The panna cotta had a subtle basil flavor that made it unique and memorable, while the tiramisu was honestly one of the best I've ever had--light, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Service was fantastic. The staff was friendly, funny, and genuinely welcoming. The funniest part of the night was that we accidentally booked a reservation at the Donna in New York instead of this restaurant. Even after our mistake, the host was incredibly kind and got us seated within about 15 minutes. One thing to note: pets are not allowed, except for service animals. Donna's has become one of my favorite spots. Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. I'll definitely keep coming back.

We stopped here on our way home from our honeymoon, and it turned out to be a great choice to end the trip on a high note. The service was genuinely excellent. We had a reservation for two, were warmly welcomed, and our server did an outstanding job throughout the evening. In Los Angeles, it can be hard to find places where the staff actually seems to enjoy what they do, and this was a refreshing exception. As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed experience. The margherita pizza was the one that disappointed me the most, mostly because I had high expectations. I love a good margherita, but this one had too much cheese and sauce and not enough basil, so it ended up tasting more like a plain cheese pizza, which is honestly my least favorite. That said, the crust was absolutely sensational. The meatballs were decent but could have used more salt. The desserts, however, were the highlight of the meal. When we mentioned it was our honeymoon, the staff surprised us with a complimentary olive oil cake, which was my first time trying one and it was wonderful. The fried dough with Nutella was also amazing. The desserts here are generous, well-made, and absolutely worth saving room for. Overall, a lovely experience with room for improvement on the savory side.

The experience did not disappoint -- it was beautiful from beginning to end. Our extraordinary server was James. He was engaging, attentive and unpretentious. His knowledge of the menu was impressive as he explained each section and item in a simplified way. After making our choices, he suggested changing one of our pasta selections since they all had heavy sauces. We accepted his recommendation of the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, which turned out to be everyone's favorite! The tomato-based sauce was light and perfectly spicy. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was amazing. The focaccia, oxtail meatballs and burrata with ham were a great start, showcasing the quality of the ingredients and thoughtful preparations -- they set the tone for our entire meal. The taste and texture of the freshly made pastas were unmistakable and so, so good with the wonderful sauces. The lamb chops were well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. I especially enjoyed the bed of sliced snow peas, green beans and English peas set over mint sauce. After all that, we had just enough room for shared desserts -- Budino and Tiramisu. Both were the perfect finish to a delicious meal. If you like chocolate, the Budino is for you -- rich but not overly sweet. Each yummy bite with the crumble topping was nicely balanced by the sprinkled salt. Service was impeccable and well-coordinated. We especially appreciated that dishes and utensils were changed after each course. A couple things to keep in mind: *Reservations - Via Resy. The reservation window is open 14 days at a time. *Parking - Valet is right in front. We found street parking just around the corner on Sunset (metered but free after 7pm). *Price Point - Approximately $100 per person. Mother Wolf is a cashless establishment. A 5% wellness fee is added to all checks. We will absolutely be back!
