This was a great place to find. The sandwiches I saw on Yelp and their website were intriguing! I ordered items from the weekly specials. The fried tofu banh mi and the shiro plum soda. Both were amazing! The sandwich was so well put together with care and love! Thank you! It was so packed with flavor compared to most tofu banh mi sandwiches. It was also $11, but i am from San Francisco - paid way more. The soda was refreshing. The sandwich had a little too much sauce, would have been messy on the go. Wow! One of the best sandwiches I have ever had!! I came here to try the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, but decided to get the special Jerk Chicken Sandwich. It was delicious!! They make their own bread and this bun was perfect - so soft and fresh! The chicken was super juicy and perfectly spiced. Hubs had his heart set on fish and chips, buy decided to have the cheesesteak special and loved it! Again, the bread was super fresh - crunchy crust and soft inside. It's been a while since I had a perfect lunch; this was it. We stopped by after a long and hot day and came in after the lunch rush so got a table outdoors in the gorgeous garden. First off, the ambiance and what they have done with the premises just brings a smile on the hot summer day. The large picnic tables with the umbrella shades were ideal for my entire family and my puppy and the flowers were just beautiful and sweet smelling. Then came the food. OMG the food; what outstanding sandwiches! The Nashville Fried Chicken was simply outstanding. Massive chicken fried to perfection, crunchy and juicy but not greasy and brushed with warm but not too hot chili oil making it the perfect sandwich to share. The toasted house bread was nice and crunchy on the outside but soft enough on the inside to soak up the juices and not let any of that goodness go to waste. The Jerk Chicken was super flavorful and the marinade had really done it's job. The chicken itself was so tender and the combination of the spices with fresh herbs like cilantro and the creamy slices of avocado were a perfect balance. The soft curry roll was the ideal vessel and they had clearly put a lot of thought into this sandwich. The Veggie Grilled Cheese was probably one of the nicest versions of this sandwich I've had. Unlike most places, they do not skimp on the veggies. They are plentiful and so perfectly seasoned and balanced that every mouthful is a delight. The cheese brings everything together but doesn't over-power the palate. Top this all with fair prices and an extremely kind and friendly staff that took such good care of my family and also played with and brought treats for my puppy and you have yourself a perfect lunch. Prices are reasonable with a wide variety of food options. I had a small noodle salad which was ample enough that I took a small bit home. The chicken fried cauliflower was a tasty appetizer. My friend had a chicken wrap which was huge, she ate half and saved half for her husband. Good selection of wine and lots of local draft beers and ciders to choose from. A regular appointment in the Mt Vernon area has us in the area at mid-day every couple of weeks looking for lunch. We spotted this relatively new place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. This new built place is on a corner lot with a small parking lot tucked in behind it accessed through the alley. They have a nice grassy outside eating area that will be very nice during the warmer months. Inside is light and airy. The kitchen is open to the counter which is always nice as it means they aren't trying to hide anything. You order at the counter where you can also pickup menus to peruse at your table. On the counter you will find an array of delectable baked goods including pastries, bars, and cookies. Beer and wine are available. Although mostly a sandwich place, the daily specials included some other items as well. I had the Korean fried chicken sandwich. It was delicious with a nice batter coating and bulgogi sauce, crisp veggies and peppers served on a nice bun. It was also enormous. A whole pounded chicken breast that stuck out 3 inches on either side of the bun. Plenty for two here. (It was still good warmed up the next day!) My wife had the veggie grilled cheese which is a grilled cheese stuffed with spinach, eggplant, zucchini and tomato jam. She reported that it was excellent. While the grilled cheese was smaller than the chicken sandwich, it was still large enough that she made a second meal of it. We accompanied the sandwiches with their onion rings. These are not heavy batter dipped rings, but are lightly breaded in a crispy crust that lets the sweet taste of the onions be the star. The house-made unsweet iced tea (also available as sweet tea) and a cayenne spiced molasses cookie topped off the meal. (No picture of the cookie as it disappeared instantly.) Well made food, an interesting menu, and friendly service will make this a regular stop for us. read more

The people of Fairhaven are doing everything right in here! From the minimalist decor, to the fully compostable containers, to the fresh AF ingredients, there's nothing about this place I did not enjoy. Let's start with the ambience: it's such a shame that dine-in is still restricted because the wooden benches and gaping windows brighten this quaint cafe. They do offer a few outdoor dining tables, but the afternoon we were there, it was too windy and chilly to eat outdoors. Onto the eats: after staring down the menu for 6 whole minutes, we decided to go for the Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich, Fish and Chips, and their signature Ginger Lime Soda. When I say that shocked sandwich was at least a footlong, I'm not exaggerating! The chili aioli and ample pickles cut through the huge crispy fried chicken breast. I won't be able to look at Cod the same after this feast, and boy are they doing it right with the fries. Tell me your secrets!!! If you're traveling to or through the area for the annual Tulip Festival, I highly recommend driving a little further for takeout at The Fairhaven. On our way to the tulip fields, we decided to stop by for a quick bite to eat. The Fairhaven was one of the top restaurants to pop up on Yelp in the area. It was pretty busy and no seating was available, so we opted to take our food to-go. We waited a really long time, like nearly 1 hr, before our food was brought to our car. The food was amazing though. We ordered the jerk chicken sandwich, the falafel sandwich and a kids chicken & chips with ranch dipping sauce. Jerk chicken sandwich - phenomenal Falafel sandwich - it was more of a wrap in a flatbread. I would've liked to have more tahini sauce in the sandwich to balance the dryness of the falafel (I'm a sauce lover) and more of the Mediterranean veggies. The bread is made in-house and was delicious, but it was very messy with the residue it leaves on your hands (very flour-y). Kids chicken & chips - the chicken was perfectly fried to crisp perfection and the house made ranch is hands down the best I've ever had. The dill was the star of the sauce. The chips are steak cut fries and fried nicely. All of their ingredients tasted fresh and the employees were very helpful and friendly. My wife and I went back for an amazing lunch and got just a "so so" meal. The hand cut fries are now the generic frozen steak fries.... My wife wanted the Korean chicken sandwich which is now no longer served, so the friendly cashier tried putting one together the cooks could make....the bulgogi sauce was over the top salty and the overall Frankenstein sandwich was a miss. Talking to the waitress about it, her attitude was very condescending. We won't be back paying niche restaurant prices for very plain basic food...and whats with the mandatory tipping if you are paying via a debit card! So, I really, truly wanted to like this place and give it a great review after reading all the other great reviews about it, but I was so extremely disappointed in my food choices today. I used to work in all levels of food service for nearly 17 years. I've traveled all over the world. I have Korean friends and I've eaten LOTS of Korean food. This was probably the WORST representation of anything Korean, ever! The breading on this chicken was made out of some kind of tempura or something similar, which made it NOT at all crispy after deep frying it. It was SUPER greasy! Then, they added the sauce and all the toppings (which were tasty) which made it all a giant mess and the breading slid off the chicken and it was just a messy, gross, greasy ass sandwich. It also wasn't served on the baguette that I requested it on, even though the girl who took my order said, "No problem!" I heard her ask the cook to put it on baguette even though she said she "spelled it wrong". Then, the fries were smelling all delicious too with the garlic parm flavoring, but man, they were saturated in grease too. Not sure if their fryer was at the right temp or the cook just doesn't know how to cook fried food very well. They definitely need a new breading for that chicken sandwich. The only reason I gave it two star rating vs one star rating is because their staff was super friendly, the lemonade was on point, and the food was presented nicely. The food was terrible though! I ate maybe 1/2 the sandwich before it grossed me out. Maybe ate four or five fries and then I just got up and walked out. Again, super disappointed. I took pics of my food with the intent of writing a great review also, but sad it was so bad. I ended up just getting a cheap sandwich from Jimmy John's after wasting my money here. At least I feel good about supporting a small, local business. Sure hope, if I ever do another hike in that area again, and come back starving, maybe I'll give it another try, but order something different. read more

Drove here from Monroe after reading the reviews. Absolutely worth it! Food is fabulous. Menu has a lot of options for a small kitchen. The Cuban Sandwich and Fish and Chips were excellent. Filling and doesn't taste like it was from a chain place - you know it's homemade! The bathroom was clean as is the place overall. Despite being a small place, it's cozy and not cramped. The sammies are really good. I do feel that they are under seasoned (for my liking), but I really liked the salmon burger and the garlic fries. The Arnold Palmer I got was not that sweet, so that gets dinged. The jerk chicken sandwich was meh--tasty, but not mind-blowing. The brownie was not too sweet (which is great)--more on the bitter chocolate side, but texture-wise, it lacked that chew in brownies I look for. The food was great, the ingredients are really fresh, but I think it subjectively lacks in seasoning. I did not expect this place to be so gorgeous!! Or the food to be SO good! I had heard multiple times from locals that this place is amazing, so my fiancé and I finally decided to go. Food fantastic as always but one star for sneaky 50¢ fee for debit and credit cards. Visa/MC specifically prohibit fees for using debit. When I contacted the business, the person said "We charge a convenience fee to help recoup some of our costs. It is not a surcharge and is legal in Washington state." It doesn't matter what you call it, you can't charge a debit user the fee. Also one star for blocking me from further communication via their channel. Will we come back? Sure, I will bring cash, if I'm charged the fee for cash, you can explain to your employees why their tip was reduced. We pay plenty for your food, don't f'n nickel and dime us. read more
