Prime rib arrived with COLD mashed potatoes, sent it back (at $33, you should NEVER have to send back ANY portion of a meal) to warm potatoes, came back with potatoes still cold, and meat overcooked. Appetizer was good, my partner's porkchops were amazing, and deserts and drinks were excellent. Nice decor, definitely make a reservation, and just know that they don't always get it right. Which is too bad, since there's not much else locally for decent dining. We won't go back, given our experience - just too much money to have any disappointments what-so-ever. A party of four of us went for lunch (with a reservation), and were impressed with the decor and furnishings. We were seated quickly and offered drinks within just a couple of minutes. The menu is not extensive but offers plenty of variety nonetheless. The ladies ordered a classic Cuban sandwich (excellent), and another grilled sandwich with ham, asiago cheese and caramelized onion (also excellent). My brother-in-law ordered a hangar steak, medium well. I usually prefer a less well-done steak but this was still very good. Hangar steak is not the tenderest of cuts, but this was far from tough, and complimented with a rich flavorful sauce. I ordered the muscles entree, served in a rich, coconut milk based broth (more like a soup) with herbs and a touch of garlic, and served with crostini. The sauce was awsome and the muscles were done to perfection. Everybody tried pretty much everbody else's food and there was not a single negative note. Three of us tasted a bowl of butternut squash and sweet potato soup - final score, six thumbs up. Desert was opera cake and egg nog cheesecake. I'm not that big on cake, but my tablemates loved it. The egg nog cheesecake is made on a crust of molasses cookies and topped with rum soaked raisins. Wow, rich, dense, sweet, spicy. Cheesecake IS my thing, and this was outstanding. Had brunch today after the car show. NEVER AGAIN. Service was very poor. Food was cold and if it had been hot was at best OK.

A friend and I went to The Farm Table,what great experience. The restaurant is relaxing and inviting. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable.Ameilya was are server,she was great,answered all our questions and had some suggestions. We started out with appetizers. My friend had the fried oysters on a bed of greens,she said they were very tasty . I had a cream of carrot bisque. It had curry,ginger and coconut milk,My friend had razor calms over fettuccine,in a butter,white wine sauce ,she love it. I had a pork porterhouse,cook just right. This was on a bed of creamy polenta,asparagus al dente,,with three hand batter onion rings on top.they were great meals. We ended the night with coffee and dessert. I had the hot chocolate cake served with maple ice cream. wow. I would like to thank Yelp for making the reservations. The experience was one of the best we have had in awhile. read more

Food is good. A bit overpriced. I have been here several times. If you are looking for a quiet/peaceful dinner this isn't the place. Acoustics are horrible and the restaurant is very loud. During one dinner it was so loud we just stopped talking because we were having to yell to hear each other. The only dinner that was peaceful was when we sat outside. Outside dining area is nice with outdoor fireplaces. However if you want an early dinner (530-600 in summer months) the tables are not well shaded and you are left in the sun/heat. If the tables were properly shaded it would be gorgeous. read more

I cannot express how good my experience at The Farm Table was, but i'll try! I took my 99 year old father and we drove from Bennington to meet my sister and brother-in-law who drove from Boston. We have found the perfect place to meet. First the place is very beautiful inside and especially out! Secondly, the menu was so good that it was difficult to choose just one entre, a situation that my sister solved by ordering the bluebery pancakes as a 'pre-desert' after the main course but before their delicious deserts! Since we met for a family get-together it was wonderful that we felt under no pressure to finish and could savor the excellent flavors! But what makes this establishment worth six stars is the fantastic service not just from our waiter but the young lady who brought us water as we were sitting outside after our meal and even got my brother-in-law's golden retriever a big bowl of water! Needless to say, we will be back! read more

This was my fourth time going to this restaurant and previously had wonderful experiences, not so much this time. My friend has something floating in her soda, had to wait at least 20 minutes until we even saw our waitress so we could ask for a new glass. Two of us ordered the cast iron skillet Mac and Cheese, while the skillet was molten hot both of our Mac and Cheese was luke warm at best, yes it tasted good but having it hot would have been even better. Our other friend ordered a sandwich and the roll was rock hard almost inedible. Def will not be eating there again!!! read more

Every time we come from New Jersey to visit family in this area, we ALWAYS stop here to have lunch or dinner. Our children love this restaurant. The menu is outstanding. We have tried many things and have not been disappointed. The lobster mac and cheese is a favorite along with the fresh salads, salmon, and soups. DONT EAT AT THE FARM TABLE! I wish there a way to give zero stars because the farm table is the worst restaurant in the area, honestly quite confident I saying the worst restaurant in New England! My biggest issues include chef Chris who is not fit for his job what so ever. He's completely inexperienced and doesn't even know how to make a cohesive menu. He claims the menu is farm to table yet I see Sysco trucks drive in and out on a regular basis(Sysco is a large food distribution company and there products are of lesser quality and fit for McDonald's) it just doesn't add up, there's a whole array of menu items and none sound that appealing. Fine dining? Since when is "fine dining" walking in the door and seeing a big pizza oven which actually appeared to be propane fueled(so it's not actually even authentic) that just screams out causal family eatery. NOT FINE DINING. And after eating my entree I knew Chris did not know what he was doing. I received the duck in which I ordered mid rare but came out medium/medium well (for all you non cooks out there that's about a 15 degree difference in the temp of the meat) also came with what he calls risotto but looked more like plaster or some sort of sticky putty. Lacked in flavor and overall presentation fell flat. It is clear as I've heard from the kitchen staff that chef Chris is a train wreck and can't even run a kitchen properly. Could go on all day just tearing the chef apart but I've got a lot of better things to do. Another problem I found was with the front of the house manager, and I'm not sure if it was the obvious spray tan or the annoying non perception glasses but she just came off like a complete buffoon like really. She was probably the snobbiest most arrogant person I've ever met. Mind you I've dealt with a lot of servers and front of the house managers. Although I do have one good thing to say our server Taylor was exceptionally nice and very attentive. I didn't burden her with my issues pertaining to my disgusting duck or undercooked risotto knowing full well Chris and his band of under experienced line cooks would just mess it up again. The best part about my experience there would have to be the beer. I mean after all you can't really mess that up. Bottom line. Take your girlfriend/wife, brother, mother, sister, aunt/uncle who ever if may be.. To McDonald's because you'll save a crap ton of money and still be eating the same quality food and will probably revive better service. After all they don't have a orange skinned jersey shore snob walking around the dining room. read more

The night before our reservation I had to change our number due to 2 illnesses. The hostess was very gracious and even said she hoped our sick relatives felt better soon. The staff was very attentive. At this price point, I would've expected better presentation and quality of food. Vegetables were overcooked and salty. Menu items were charged at different prices menu vs. bill. This was my first visit to this restaurant. I will give them another chance in a few months to see if my initial experience was typical. I have had two holiday brunches at this location over the years and although the food is good, it is extremely overpriced. $81 per PERSON is absolutely ridiculous in a sleepy country town like Bernardston. I am not sure who they are catering too, but it's certainly not regular "folks" from Western Mass. Brunch for three should not cost $245. They didn't tell us gratuity was included (18%). Brunches have their good and bad points, the good being the variety of food available - the ham, lamb, mashed potatoes, cornbread and creme brulee were amazing, as was the fruit salad. The bad points being that the food just does not stay very hot and is lacking in that sort of set-up, i.e. the muffin portion of the eggs benedict turned to cardboard sitting in the banquet server, the french toast was only modestly warm, salads get soggy, etc. I would love to rave about this place because I like the fact that they source things locally and everything is obviously fresh, the decor is lovely, but come ON. read more

Stopped here last Saturday night for a late night dinner with my mom..was shocked that somewhere in western mass could still be packed at 8:30-9:00pm..definitely a good sign. The restaurant was full but we sat at a small table in the bar area which was fine. I had an apple cider margarita which was amazing..I wasn't sure what itd be like but turns out it is exactly what it says. We shared the pear and bleu cheese salad which was so good..literally a salad has never impressed me so much. Each component clearly had so much care put into it from the candied walnuts to the dried cranberries with some sort of seasoning on them, to it being perfectly dressed..just delicious. We then shared the crabcakes. I'm not a fan of peppers in my crabcakes which unfortunately these ones had even though it was not mentioned on the menu. However they were perfectly cooked and came with fingerling potatoes that were nice and crispy (normally when I see fingerling potatoes on the menu they come out just soft and bland). Also, my mom isn't a big fan of coffee but thought for some reason their coffee just smelled too delicious to pass up so she ordered a decaf cappuccino which she really enjoyed. So glad we stopped and wish I lived closer so I could come more often! read more

Let me preface this review by saying this was our 4th or 5th meal here and this review only reflects today's visit. We also had issues with the yelp reservation system which kept telling us there were no tables available during the 2 hour window we were looking at. Once I called it was easy to get a table right when we wanted. Once we arrived there was a line as usual and the hostess was enthralled with her ipad checking tables etc. It would have been better to have been greater by her face and not the top of her head. She only decided to engage us after my wife and I had been there for about 7 minutes and had begun to have a conversation about the wait when she turned to my wife and asked if she could help. We were seated quickly and then told by our server that computer problems were causing unusal delays. Seeing the place about half full we figured it couldn't be too bad. We placed our brunch order and waited about 40 minutes for it to arrive. I ordered the eggs benedict and my wife got the farmers breakfast. When it arrived her eggs and meat were wrong. The server got the order corrected fairly quickly. Now to the food. The home fries were cold, the biscuit on my plate was thin,hard and crumbly. My eggs were hard boiled, no runny yolk. The ham was good but that was all. My wife's corrected eggs were ok and good sausage but same cold home fries. They did remove my wife's meal from the check because of the mixup. What I just don't understand is how a computer problem led to subpar food and a long wait. read more

Actually somewhat awful. We were very eager to try this place, and had been turned away in the winter for lack of reservations. Made a reservation and had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a seat, though restaurant was virtually empty. Hostess seated us in the middle of an empty room and seemed perplexed and faintly annoyed with our request for a table by the window. (Throughout the entire meal there were only 1-2 other parties in the room we were in at any given time.) Waitress was strangely nervous though pleasant. Multiple problems ensued: children's menu short and odd. Daughter ordering a grilled cheese without ham was another request met with a worried response from waitress that she'd have to check to see if it was possible. Bread came out and was walnut or cheddar onion, neither my daughter's cup of tea so we asked if her food might be ready first we'd have no objection to her being served even if ours was not ready. This request could not be honored after waitress checking with the kitchen. Appetizer was good, lightly fried oysters, small portion, over vinegary greens that were very tasty-remoulade sauce unfortunately tasted aggressively of nothing but black pepper and detracted from the oysters, wish I could have known and would have ordered it on the side. Entrees were mixed.The challenging ham free grilled Gruyere sandwich was a hit. Husband's crab cake entree was delicious as were his sides. My salmon was good but quinoa advertised as side was nowhere in evidence, replaced with greasy potatoes. (After the earlier reactions to customer requests, I did not bother to ask for the quinoa-thought it might produce a nervous breakdown.) Beware organic soda in tiny bottles are 2.50 apiece-they were tasty but when the second round was ordered, a different waitress came and poured husbands cola into daughters half full glass of root beer and vice versa without asking. Restaurant is visually stunning and cozy and looked immaculate but husband had to kill 4 flies in the course of dinner as they were divebombing the table and our food (yuck). This is not to infer the place is not clean but it's in the country and there must be a solution to so many being in evidence-they probably are coming in from the open back door to the left of the bar that I saw waitstaff going in and out of while waiting for a table in the empty dining room. One of the worst dining experiences i have had in a long time. Service was erratic except for when we paid the bill -- then it was superfast. Waitresses were way too perky reciting their clearly rehearsed lines: "Are you enjoying your wonderful chicken?" Appetizers to be shared for the table came too hot to eat and without serving utensils. The waitress forgot the appetizer plates and told us to use our bread plates. Which were conveniently available because she forgot to bring our bread. My husband's soup was cold. My mom's chicken was good but cold. My steak was raw. Perhaps if the chef had been in the kitchen rather than wandering around the dining room praising all the food that people ordered things might have been cooked a little better. But maybe not. I got the sense they had mostly been cooked ahead of time and stuck under the salamander. We did not even order dessert because we were so disappointed -- and that rarely happens. And oh yeah, my daughter got stuck in the bathroom and had to bang on the door to get it to open. We will never eat here again. read more

We've been to the Farm Table several times and have had a wonderful experience every time. However, this past Saturday (12/10/16), we stopped in to see if we could get a reservation for dinner. It was about 5:30 PM and we asked the hostess if we could make a reservation. She very bluntly said they were busy and our best bet was the bar. It was not our intention to be seated immediately. We had expected a wait and were interested in a little later reservation as we wanted to do some shopping at Kringle Candles. The hostess was very rude as she never even looked at my husband, nor ever looked at the reservation schedule. This is the first time that we were ever treated like this at the Farm Table. At that time we left the restaurant. We did some shopping and headed for home. I was very disturbed by this experience and called the restaurant and spoke to the manager. I explained our experience and he quickly apologized and asked us to come back to the restaurant and he would do what he could to correct the situation. I explained we had already gotten on the highway heading home. He took my name and number and said he would contact me in a few days to see what he could do about rectifying the situation. As of today, (12/14/16) we have still not heard from him. I am not looking for a free meal, just to be treated respectfully as a customer. This has been a very disappointing experience for us. Just felt the need to vent and remind staff who deal with the public to remember to treat customers with respect. And management should follow thru with what they tell customers. Maybe the staff is following in the steps of the manager? Too bad if that's the case. read more

If you value your time avoid at all costs. The food is decent but is not worth the hassle and aggravation. I made a reservation for 4 @ noon with a request for 2 highchairs. When we arrived shortly before noon, we reiterated we needed two high chairs. After a 15 minute wait for some reason I can not fathom, we were shown to a table that had four chairs! We had two babies who obviously could not sit in a regular seat so we had to wait for them to get the high chairs. Looking around the dining room at least a third of the tables were empty so why the wait? After we got settled, our waiter took our drink orders and delivered them with a be right back we didn't see him for another 20 minutes. He was dealing with at least six tables. All told, we did not have a meal in front of us until 1pm. I asked the manager if they were understaffed, and she said no. It's clear nobody running the place has a clue of how to manage a restaurant. The entire time we were there, there were people waiting for tables and plenty of empty ones just sitting there. The food itself is ok but nothing worth writing home about and sure not worth the wait. read more
