The fat lamb is my favorite local spot in Altamonte Springs. The food is always consistently delicious and the price is decent for the amount you get. I always order the hummus and falafel as well as the lemon potatoes and a side of chicken. The service is hit or miss depending on the day, but the staff is very kind and always apologizing if there is any wait or delay. The ambiance inside is very relaxing and easy to navigate. I often order online for pickup, and the portions are great in my opinion. My meal typically is priced around $25 before tip and I always have leftovers for lunch the next day. Picked up a takeout order from this place. Nice decor, and the cashier was super friendly. I'm a fan of Mediterranean food, so I decided to give them a try since I was working less than five minutes from their location. I ordered the Dinner Lamb Gyro Platter. The lamb was well-seasoned but very dry. The rice wasn't my favorite...seemed overcooked, at least for my taste. The salad was fresh and pretty tasty. For some reason, I was expecting some pieces of pita bread to be included with the plate, but there was none with my order. Maybe it's not included... who knows? I also had an order of falafel. Never been to this establishment before and my boyfriend and I decided to try it out for lunch. We ordered the appetizer trio and for the grape leaves, falafel and hummus, which everything was delicious. We both decided to get the lamb gyros which came with fries. The fries were some of the best fries I've had at a restaurant and the lamb gyros was absolutely delicious, everything was fresh. Definitely going back to try other items. We did get their baklava chocolate cheesecake and their chocolate mouse to go. Can't wait to try it!! The staff was very nice and made you feel very welcome! This was the best Greek food I think I've ever had - I grew up in Chicago eating a lot of Greek but this was INCREDIBLE. The lamb was PERFECT, the tzatziki was SO good. But the baklava! What did you do to this? It's easily the best dessert anyway but I've never had baklava so good before!! The food at fat lamb is awesome and the portions are generous especially in the meat department. Inside is nice and clean always(I frequent often) and the employees are nice. I've seen a few employees and all have been wonderful. Recently ordered a lamb gyro and it's was awesome and tasty. The meat was plentiful and full of flavor. I like to have mine made extra spicy - so they give me a side of the sauce dip which I can then add to my hearts desire. My gyro came with fries (lunch combo) and the fries were and always freshly made and hot . Oooooo oooo so good. Again, they do not skip out on the portion size so you will leave feeling very very full and lethargic lol- I love that feeling , lol. The platter has wonderfully delicious gyro meat with rice and salad. I enjoyed it. The lentil soup was mostly lentil, which normally wouldn't be a problem but there wasn't much liquid! I tend to begin by checking out the restroom for cleanliness and supplies, IE: soap and (preferably) paper towels vs air dryer. Like the entry and inside dining, the restroom met OK standards -nothing extraordinary but clean, so now I can order with a degree of trust, so I do. I ordered the lamb gyro, my daughter ordered the falafel sandwich, fries and tabbouleh. While each met our taste bud requirements my daughter said (& I agree) the tabbouleh should have been finely chopped. It wasn't but rather a rough and large chop. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was prepared and served very fast. We had the spinach pie that is served with a Greek salad. It was ok. I really love this place! They have some of the best gyros and Greek dishes in the Orlando area. The lamb is always fresh, and moist. I have a had quite a few different platters from here and every thing is always on point. The salads and sides are tasty, even the fries have a unique seasoning. The meals are filling and a good amount for the price. They even have lunch specials if you can catch them from 11-4. I'm from NY so I have had my fair share of great gyro spots. A lot of big name places out here gyros suck, lacking meat or flavor. But this place knows what they are doing and it reminds me of the great gyros I had in NY. You can tell they take pride in presenting a good meal and keeping it authentic. I have never had a bad meal so this place is consistent. The staff is helpful and pleasant. This place looks like an ordinary fast food spot but it definitely is not that when these platters come out you think you are at restaurant. The food is hot, looks pretty and tastes great. My mother has been raving about this place for a few months now, so I knew I had to try it and see for myself just how good it was. I ordered the basic gyro add added feta because I think just like judging an Italian pizza place with a regular slice, you have to try a gyro first. It definitely met my expectations because the meat was tender and full of flavor, the tzatziki sauce was good and the feta added the perfect savory factor needed to complete this awesome gyro. The fries, although I can greatly appreciate the seasoning, don't think it's necessary and they are not served very hot or crispy. When taking food to-go, fries are never really crisp but they were ice cold. However, the hummus is off the charts amazing and I could eat it by the spoonful. The Nutella baklava is literally A-MAZING and one of the best I have ever had anywhere. I highly recommend this spot when you're in the mood for some Greek food! read more
