Looking for a quick bite we ended up at Torchy's Tacos. We tried the Democrat, Republican, Crossroads, and Brushfire tacos, and every single one had bold, delicious flavor combo that just worked. The Mexican Candy Margarita was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy--definitely worth ordering. I recently came here for the first time and was so excited to try a new taco place. I asked the girl who took my order what her recommendations were and she gave me the most popular chicken and shrimp options. I told her I was willing to try anything but pork. I got my food to go and got home and I got my shrimp taco out (excellent) and then was saddened to see a PORK taco. Really??? I didn't realize a Torchy's Tacos had opened in central Florida so my mom, sister and I decided to meet up for lunch there to try it out. The only thing a friend recommended was "don't leave there without ordering the churros." Noted. From what I gather, we missed the lunch rush so it wasn't busy (approx. 1:45pm on a weekday). The staff was able to walk us through the menu and make some recommendations. I of course ordered the churros. I had the steak fajita tacos and street corn. My mom ordered two of the breakfast tacos. The tacos were a decent size and flavorful. My sister loved her pork and shrimp tacos so much we didn't even get to taste hers The street wasn't as good as I thought it would be but not bad. My friend was absolutely correct about the churros! They were so good! Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the dulce de leche sauce was a nice touch. Its been here in Longwood for like two years now but it was only after we visited a location in Austin, TX, did we we realize how good the food was. There's a nice variety of flavors on the menu and do be sure to check the website for some "off menu" specials including a Trailer Trash Combo that includes the taco, chips w/queso, and a drink. Definitely a big step up from Tijuana and we honestly don't go to Chipotle anymore. There never seems to be a crowd, which can make it a little awkward inside (we've been the only ones a few times). After months of passing by and wondering what it was like, I finally stopped by Torchy's for dinner with my in laws. If you're looking for a quick dinner, this is a great option as you order upon entering and your food is later brought out to you. For a starter, we had the chips and queso. They were both delicious and plenty to split for 3 people. For my meal, I tried the chicken fajita and trailer park tacos. Both were amazing! My in laws also tried the trailer park taco and a burrito, which they enjoyed. The interior of the restaurant was decorated with a "torch/fire" theme, to match the name. How about a Trailer Park taco or an order of the Democrat or Republican taco? We started with the Damn Good Tots. Oh how the mightly have fallen.. You order on a kiosk now, no more personal interaction, no recommendations, you figure it out on your own. They a tip is requested at the end. My plan was to leave cash tip, but our queso was missing the chorizo. When we asked the waiter about it, he said yes you ordered it with chorizo, did you still want it? After hearing about this chain coming to town, we wanted to see what it was all about. We seemed to have arrived before the dinner rush which was great. We sat at the bar rather than ordering at the counter and grabbing a table inside or on the patio. The service at the bar was great. I had a house margarita and my husband had a draft beer. The marg was premade but I enjoyed the flavor nonetheless. We ordered the standard queso and chips and then a couple tacos. The taco of the month was delicious with sliced skirt steak and bacon with veggies and feta on a flour tortilla. My other taco was their green chile pork on a corn tortilla. It was a standard street taco, but the pork was moist and flavorful. I added on a side of rice and beans for us to share and it was just as I hoped. The rice had great flavor and the beans were thick and creamy. While it did get busier, it seemed like everyone was getting their food quickly. Lots of couples and families with younger kids. Torchy's emphatic word use prior to "good food" in their website description is not hyperbole in my opinion. I've really enjoyed the flavor of the tacos and green chile queso. My favorite taco, Crossroads on a soft tortilla, features smoked beef brisket that is moist and flavorful. The grilled onions, jack cheese, cilantro, and jalapeños provide a great combination to enhance the brisket that could stand on its own. I prefer the Ancho Aolai for the sauce (which is served separate). I was surprised by green chiles in the queso but they quickly grew on me. The guac, cotija, and diablo sauce providing an addicting flavor enhancement. Both times the chips have been crispy light and fresh. I've also enjoyed the Baja Shrimp taco but prefer the brisket. With all the options available, I'll probably try others in future visits. Ordering in person and on the app have been straight-forward and easy. In person, the staff have been helpful and friendly. I've noticed the tables are cleaned regularly. You'll find plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating and the location's access is immediately right off of SR 434, just a short distance from the intersection of SR 436 & 434. The Torchy's app has been easy to use and will load rewards when you might not expect it. Torchy's is a welcome addition to Altamonte from Austin. read more

With that level of confidence in their product, I had to find out for myself whether this degree of assurance was warranted...especially since many of my fellow Yelpers and colleagues were expressing equally positive sentiments towards the brand. Having started in a lone food trailer in Austin, Texas the company has branched out to over 90 locations in 14 states as of this review. Each location has its own unique and different design. The Altamonte Springs location I patronized is the first Torchy's in the Orlando region. I visited the restaurant twice during a three-day period. As this is a new fast-casual concept in the area, customers were continually entering the establishment during both times I visited. Service was friendly each of my visits with a member of management on the floor interacting with customers. As to the food, I started off with the Chips and Queso. The Chips were freshly fried with a light crunch while the Queso included a dollop of guacomole, cotija cheese and cilantro. Nice way to start off the meal. I tried three tacos during my visits. The Chicken Fajita included marinated and grilled chicken, grilled, onions and peppers, pico de gallo, cheddar jack cheese and tomatillo sauce; The Fried Avocado contained the namesake fried avocados, refried pinto beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, and cheddar jack cheese with poblano sauce. And not to be outdone, the Baja Shrimp had a generous portion of fried shrimp, cooked cabbage slaw, cotija cheese, cilantro and a chipotle sauce. What I definitely liked was the tacos can be customized to fit your heat tolerance level. Any ingredient can be removed entirely or placed on the side. TORCHY'S IN ORLANDO!!! I first had torchy's in Austin, TX and was pleasantly surprised to find out there was one in the Orlando area. We went on Saturday morning and it was very quiet with no one being ahead of us in line. As for the food, I was very happy with the tacos, and the appetizers of the chips and green chile sauce was definitely a highlight for me. As for the corn that we received, I deducted a star because I think it could have better flavor. Service and ambiance were great and no complaints on that end. This was my first time coming to torchy's in the Central Florida area. In the past I had visited their location in Austin, Texas, and I have to say I am so excited this franchise has come to our area. The outstanding item for me was their Roja salsa that was absolutely fantastic. I told one of the staff in the restaurant that I could literally drink a bowl of the Roja salsa it was so delicious. It had a very deep, smoky tomato flavor that to me was perfectly salty and balanced with chips. I'm glad the salsa ran out eventually, I probably could've hurt myself eating that salsa with the chips! For my entrée I tried their Baja shrimp taco with grilled shrimp instead of fried. Then the other taco, the beef fajita with grilled beef, cheese, and more Roja salsa. The service was prompt and friendly, the restaurant was clean, and I loved their soda fountain area. It was very clean and orderly, and they have that little mini nugget ice. Looking forward to coming back again, maybe for happy hour, which I see is till six on the evenings. Torchy's is finally here! It seems like it has been forever that we have been waiting for them to open! I used to live in Austin, TX so I am very familiar with Torchy's and I am so excited we have one in Orlando. This location just opened last week and we waited a bit to hopefully avoid craziness. I am happy to report that while it was definitely crowded, there was no long line out the door or crazy long wait for food. We went around 1:30pm on a Thursday and were able to quickly get our order in and we could easily find a seat. Our queso came out really quick and our food did not take too long. The chips & queso are delicious! The queso has mix-ins that add so much flavor in my opinion. It has a slight bit of heat, but I am a wimp when it comes to heat and I enjoy their queso so much. My favorite tacos include the Tipsy Chick (my favorite), Fried Avocado and The Democrat. However, I am not sure you can go wrong with your taco selection. The tacos ran about $5-$6 each and usually I get two tacos plus chips & queso to share. I was happy with the size of the restaurant and their are lots of tables, and even a bar inside! There were lots of employees who were all super friendly and very proactive in cleaning/clearing trash and delivering food. So glad they are finally open and we will definitely be back! read more

We went again and the food is fantastic! I had to give 5 stars even though I've yet to meet the manager. That's usually the final criteria for a 5 star review. We discovered they have a secret menu, although too late to order from it this time. Just ask if you're interested. I would post a pic of it, but that spoils the fun. Tried out Torchy's for the first time in FL today! I had been in Texas before, but actually only had their breakfast tacos (which were so good!!) This time we came for lunch at the Altamonte location. Prices were a bit steeper than I remember in Texas -- about $5-6+ per taco. Everything is a la carte. I ordered the taco of the week/month special, the carnitas taco, queso, and a soda. Total was $24.... I will say, the tacos were great. Perfect tender and moist, not dry, and great flavor. I really liked that each came with a little sauce to add to it. I really liked the chipotle sauce, which was quite spicy. i really did like the queso as well! The hillbilly queso comes with Chorizo on it which was yummy as well. Staff was very nice they came to take away our plates and check in on us. We had 6 tacos, the rice, and refried beans and queso and an order of churros and 2 sodas It was around $90 total We went at 7:45 PM that's when we ordered and we had to wait a half hour .... Very interesting choices for tacos and names. That was super cute. Of Everything we ate the churros and the refried beans were the best. One of us had a beef taco and a chicken taco, and the beef was so tough he could not eat it. He gave the chicken taco us five out of 10. We frequent this restaurant probably three times a week, for the most part it is great. This last time was atrocious! We ordered our food and sat down. There were only two other tables sat in the restaurant. While we were waiting about thirty people came in. It looked like an office lunch group. It took awhile, but they all placed their orders and sat down. We are still waiting for our food. At the 45 minute mark, I asked for an update on our food. The answer I got was that they are busy in back. When it became an hour and fifteen minutes and my child is crying, we asked for a refund. We were told that after everyone is served then the manager will be out. At this point the big group is being served and we still have not gotten our food. Finally the manager comes out. We explain and all she says is "I remember making your food, I don't know what happened ". There was no 'I'm sorry' or 'let me make your food right now', there was nothing. She refunded our money and walked away. Everything in this place has gone down hill- the quality, the management, the employees. The only shining light in the whole restaurant is Sadie! When she is there everything runs smoothly and people are treated with respect. When she isn't there everything goes to shit! We won't ever be returning to eat here again! read more

Love the theme of the restaurant. It's super creative and a unique vibe. It's relatively new, I believe the cashier told us they opened end of last year or beginning of this year. Very clean place! The cashier was super friendly and helpful. Since it was our first time she offered great recommendations like trying the chips and queso as well as the sangria. We loved both! Sadly, I feel like our tacos were average. They tasted okay, but nothing special. My boyfriend made some modifications to The Democrat by omitting the cilantro, subbing for sautéed onions instead of raw, and having the tomatillo salsa on the side. With that, we felt like the portion of meat look stingier compared to our other tacos. My Mr. Orange tasted good and had a healthy portion of salmon. However, the Beef Fajita taco was not my favorite. It seemed too basic and not the best quality. it tasted cheap. It wasn't bad, but it's not what I expected from a taco specialty restaurant. Torchy's food is always great. We LOVE Torchy's Tacos. This location, however, has some issues. They have kiosks to order your food. However, if you are ordering for a group of people, you have to tell the kiosk that you are ordering for ONE person. Yes, 16 different tacos for one person. Then, when you put in your drink order, the kiosk asks you for an employee code. When we asked an employee to put in her code, we were told that we need to order alcohol at the bar. Why offer alcoholic drinks at the kiosk if you can't order them there?!?!? Great food. Super frustrating process to get the food. read more
