We have been here a couple of times now and excellent visit each time! The weather was a bit toasty outside so we sat inside near the fan which was a very welcome delight! Our waiter was engaging, energetic, and fun! He was super cool and very attentive, we never lacked for anything! The food was delish, per usual! In order of favorites of this evening: the venison, the cobia, then the mussels not that we had a hard time eating any of it, it was all so tasty! I should have included a picture of our plates once we were finished. Outstanding! I have been waiting for great food in Anderson. We have been a few places and I wondered how a place with 5 stars with only 11 reviews could leave me so excited about returning for my next visit. The Duck- a favorite of my husband's. Cooked to perfection and served with rice that could have stood well on its own but a delightful pairing. Crab Cakes - I took my first bite and hoped hubby wanted to make a deal that he would enjoy the duck if I wanted to keep the crab cakes. The right amount of everything including flavor served on a bed of a corn and parm mixture with a salsa al verde sauce. Special- Mahi Mahi served with a yellow sauce, cornbread and bok choi. The entire dish... I was sad when I arrived finding out their previous fish special was no longer available but this special made me forget about it until writing this review. Just as with the other meal, the cornbread was so perfect it could have stood on its own. Lastly we ordered the Pork Belly Mussels. They are great for sharing and I was told they are one of the top menu items. The bread that came with which was perfect for dipping in the cream sauce was also exceptional. This is a low key restaurant with higher end food and drink... They serve an array of delicious tapas as well as some complex full course meals. They don't over do the meals... the proportions are perfect. The chef is creative. I'm ordering a curried Ahi Tuma dish for example. There is an unusual air fried duck confit on the menu. The drinks are excellent. Try the mezcal margarita that is well worth trying. The staff is super nice and helpful. On occasion they have a wine and food event with multiple courses paired with great wines. This was a brewery at one time. They don't brew but do have a great collection of more than a dozen craft beers on tap. A good wine list tops off the experience. read more

We started with entree of duck breast and ahi tuna. My husband ordered the honey glazed duck, medium. Came with wild rice with golden oyster mushrooms. It was tender and so tasty. I had the sesame tuna that was cooked to perfection. Mushroom risotto and a citrus flavor. The risotto was so creamy and full of flavor that there are no word to explain the decadence of this meal. We had the banana bread pudding with grand manier which was very filling. I had the Carmel covered custard which was so creamy and not overly sweet. I had a bite of the custard with the bread pudding and that paired beautifully. Reservations for parties of 4 or more. First come first serve for smaller parties. Two menus; the regular menu and The short menu changes daily because everything is locally sourced and cooked fresh. It shows with the quality of food. They have a full bar and tv's. This place has upscale food with a casual ambiance. Even though we are not close to the shore it has that kind of feel. It's a sports bar. Very clean, staff is friendly, full bar, outdoor seating, dogs allowed in outside seating. Prices are above average. read more

I could go on and on about the superb spirits selection, especially the bourbon. The environment is very laid back and cozy. The staff is fantastic and very knowledgeable, and the kitchen is spot on every time. I've found some favorites like the kalbi and tonkatsu venison chop, and my wife loves the rotating dish entrees and the scallop risotto especially. They hold themselves to a higher standard and it shows. This is the best restaurant in the area by a long shot, and one of the best restaurants we have had the pleasure of enjoying. Birthday dinner was a resound success. We started wit the most delicious mushroom bisque, followed by the swordfish and the duck, which both were excellent. The cocktails were very yummy as well. For dessert banana bread pudding , good but ask for more sauce for sure. Service was great and the place has a wonderful quirky atmosphere that we really enjoyed. Very disappointed as there were no vegetarian options so ordered a main and asked for no fish. Charged full price ($27) for a small dish of risotto and grilled asparagus. Food is excellent but the pricing is nuts. And the bar became overwhelmed quickly, drinks were backed up. Not sure we will be back, this place needs to decide between fine dining and local hangout. Disappointed and Won't Be Back I rarely write reviews, but I was so disappointed that I felt the need to share. While the parking was surprisingly good for a downtown location, that was pretty much the only highlight of the experience. The food was extremely salty, to the point where it was inedible. I ordered the seafood risotto, and not only was the fish not fresh, but the risotto was ruined by a watery liquid that clashed with the creaminess it should have had. The portion size was small, especially considering the high price. Even the basics were disappointing. Bread had to be ordered (and paid for) separately, and when it arrived, it was so hard I could barely bite into it. Oddly enough, it lacked salt, and the only way I could eat it was by soaking it in the overly salted fish. Service was also lacking. After taking our order, the staff barely checked in. My water glass sat empty most of the meal, and with how salty everything was, that was especially frustrating. I also didn't appreciate sitting at picnic tables when paying premium prices. To top it all off, our bill was incorrect. I wasn't quiet about my dissatisfaction, and I suspect that might be why the staff avoided our table. There are much better options downtown where the food is worth the price, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is far more enjoyable. Save your money. read more

What a delight! We expected a brewery and some noshes - and got creative cocktails and high end combinations of ingredients in flavorful dishes. We made a reservation, we were so excited to try this place being new in Anderson. First things, it was hot in there due to only half of the restaurant had air flow. We ordered drinks and we were forgot about. 35 minutes later we got them and were told the three bartenders got "busy" we had clear view of the bar. Next being that I made reservations well before 8, to be told that 40% of the menu is sold out is either the food is really good or the management of the food needs improvement, either way discouraging. My mixed drink was AWFUL however I ordered it don't mind paying for it I just wanted the opportunity to order another drink. I settled for water until I saw the residue and particles of what I would guess a Bloody Mary floating in my drink. Never once asked if we needed anything or checked on. Let's get to the food not bad, server was the issue, couldn't even get my order right! At the end the check took forever, when I got it he took 11 mins to get my card back which is when he said he comped my drink but again never asked. He said they were short 3 people which I have sympathy for but that's when you have to manage reservations and service to accommodate service. Fickle Palate is A refreshing new addition to downtown Anderson. I have had the opportunity to go several times now and I cannot get enough. Chef Josh Crenshaw cooks with fresh and local ingredients, and the food is to die for! Their menu features small plates that are amazing to share like tapas with a group, but I've found one plate is still substantial enough to serve as meal on its own. The restaurant gives off a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. There are beer and wine pairing suggestions with every plate, and a new cocktail menu. Since moving to Anderson 9 months ago my wife and I have been pleasantly surprised by many of the local restaurants. Today we had the pleasure of dining at a new restaurant that is a level above anything we have experienced in years. The evenings special was lamb chops and they were perfectly prepared with greens and a sauce that perfectly complimented the lamb. Like wise, the muscles, were in a broth that was so good I ate it with a spoon after finishing the bread. For sides they offer Brussel sprouts and macaroni and cheese, both were excellent. Our server was AJ and he was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, adding to a wonderful dining experience. It is located in the Electric City Brewing Company Building. The interior is casual and rustic. There are also tables outside that are dog friendly. Obviously, this is our new favorite restaurant, and we will be recommending it to our friends and colleagues with-out reservation. read more

My daughter and her fiancé brought me to The Fickle Palate for dinner on Wednesday, April 19. It was to celebrate my birthday. Both my daughter and her fiancé are in the restaurant business in Anderson and they were friends with some of the people who work at the Fickle Palate. it was a wonderful surprise. The service of course was excellent but the real star of the show was definitely the food. They have a very eclectic menu and they have daily specials as well. I opted for blackened redfish from the daily special menu, and was not disappointed at all. It was absolutely wonderful. Our meal and had a great evening of food and fellowship. I understand this restaurant is relatively new and I can tell you I recommend it with no reservations. The staff is wonderful and the food is excellent. read more

Want so much to give 5 stars on food and service alone. But they have to work out operations kinks of small kitchen, limited seating, dealing with no show reservations. 40% of seats were open and they were telling walk ins 1.5 hrs wait, they walked away. Took 3 hrs to eat as food came out slow, don't think that's normal as others around us were well paced. Had 6 small plates in three courses of 2(4 would have been enough ) all shareable, 2 desserts, 2 drinks , 2 wines. $160 plus tip for two people. For volume and food quality thought it was a great value. Scallops, Mussels, Short Rib all were big winners as was everything else we tried .
