I grew up watching plays and ballet at The Jackie Gleason theater. My most memorable was when I was assigned to review a flamenco production and brought my mom to see it. The Spanish performance had the whole house clapping and dancing even after the show. It was a night I'll never forget just like my night back to the venue which is now called The Fillmore. This past Wednesday, I came to see one of my favorite bands: Vampire Weekend and while the show far exceeded my expectations, I was clearly impressed with The Fillmore's organization, cleanliness and to be honest-- safety. It was easy to get a drink at the bar and the staff working it was helpful and polite. The bathrooms which lacked toilet paper in the stalls were at least clean and didn't have long wait lines. I remember coming here a long time ago to see a concert and people were actually smoking inside. That's no longer a real issue. They have an outdoor section for smokers. Plus, I actually felt safe inside here. The staff controlled how many people where standing in each section so it wouldn't get overly crowded. I have a few more concerts lined up at The Fillmore this month and I cannot wait to go back. read more

First time going to this music venue that I've heard many people rave about...safe to say it will be my last time. The staff is very rude. If you are going to sell general admission tickets don't sell them and block people off from the standing area and say sit down first come first serve. If you want people to sit then sell tickets for individual seats... Wouldn't you make more money that way anyways? Highly disappointed in the entire experience. read more

One of my favorite concert venues in South FL, and definitely the best one in Miami. Visited the venue last night with my girlfriend to see the band Bush and I had an amazing time. The acoustics were great, and there were a ton of spots to purchase beer and liquor, including right by the stage, allowing me to watch the show while I'm waiting in line. The inside of the venue is also very nicely decorated. This wasn't the first time I've visited this venue. I've seen multiple artists here and I can't name one negative experience. Parking was also not an issue. Found a parking lot right next door that had plenty of spots and I only paid about $8 to park for 4 hours or so. All in all, both me and my girlfriend had an amazing time and we can't wait to be back. I hope more good artists select this venue more often. read more

Went to a concert. For a start, organization was not good. Long lines of cars trying to find parking and another long line to get be able to get in, not to mention the pricey drinks. But that could be understandable up to some point, at the end of the day nothing is perfect. The worst part was being inside under the harassment of the staff. They came to us asking for the tickets at least two times in the middle of the concert, like if they wanted to verify that we actually bought tickets for the section we were in. A lady in a very bad attitude was forcing us to go to our seats in an area that was quite open for us to move an see the artist on the stage since everybody was standing up and you couldn't see anything from your seat. I even saw her trying to block the camera of a guy filming a song. I was so upset that I asked her name. She said she had no problem on giving it: Connie Sanders. Seriously! You pay and go to a concert to enjoy and not to suffer the mistreatments of such an unprofessional staff. Hope this comment helps to make things better in the future and administration to take action. read more

intimate location where the seats all had a good view. luckily we were able to walk so we didn't have to deal with parking. some of the bars were closed so it was hard to get a drink. this place seemed a bit dated. read more

Recently saw Bill Maher at the Fillmore. Absolutely amazing how well maintained and managed this theater is after all these years! There was a kids show prior to our show. It was amazing how fast the theater was ready for the next show. I would definitely visit again! read more

I've been to the Fillmore for comedy shows including Margeret Cho and Bill Maher. I've also seen concerts here including Vampire Weekend, My Morning Jacket, Katy Perry and Wyclef Jean. I love the Fillmore. It's a gorgeous auditorium with huge fancy chandeliers and nice comfortable seats. The sound is great and works for both speaking and musical performances. For all the concerts I've attended they did not fill the place to capacity and that made it much more comfortable since you could easily get around. The location is great too since it's a short walk to South Beach. There is a big parking garage down and across the street that has reasonable rates. That's goos because your gonna need your cash. Events are generally pretty expensive and the drink prices are outrageous. I know it's South Beach but cheese and rice! For a double shot of rum and coke you are talking 18 bucks. I guarantee you will enjoy yourself here even if it comes at a hefty price. read more

Came to The Fillmore for The Nutcracker. Tickets said the show starts at 7:00. We got to our seats by 6:50 in respect of the dancers and fellow viewers. The show started at 7:15 which is understandable so people have time to get to their seat and settled. Unfortunately 52 minutes later the ushers are still showing people to their seats and blocking the view of people that had the courtesy to get to the show on time. It's intermission now and just wondering how much of the second half I will miss by inconsiderate patrons and staff. read more

is a great venue for concerts, but kind of confusing on where to go in, and look for bathrooms, otherwise good venue.

A group of us had a terrible experience at the Fillmore when we went to attend the Daily Show with Trevor Noah. We waited for 6-7+ hours outside in the hot sun in order to enter the auditorium to secure seats. I am not complaining about the wait, we were all there early because we wanted to secure prime seats; we expected to wait. My friend and I were numbers 8 and 9 in the line. We entered the venue and the ushers seated us, but after about 10 minutes they asked us to give up our seats, with no explanation, only saying that we would be re-seated momentarily. We were TOLD to return to the hallway/lobby and threatened that if we didn't comply, they would throw us out of the show. We had no idea what was going on. We were not loud, rowdy or impolite. We had been standing outside all day and were exhausted and happy to be able to finally sit down! We reluctantly went back into the hall to wait, only to have them close and block the doors in front of us! By this time, the lobby was fully packed and everyone in the crowd was protecting their place in line and refusing to allow us "interlopers" back into the crowd. The fact that we had been some of the very first people in line at a "first come, first served" situation meant nothing to them or to the ushers who should have taken some responsibility in this situation. We showed our tickets to the ushers and asked if they could help us. They said they did not care what our tickets showed, where we were in line or how long we had waited; if we complained, they would throw us out of the show! They did not allow us to speak with any type of supervisor who might consider our situation. They would not let us speak with anyone from the Daily Show either. They were rude, unorganized, unprofessional, and poorly trained. They lied right to our faces about allowing us to be re-seated after we gave up our seats. This is a venue used to and capable of dealing with crowds so there is no excuse for such poor treatment of their "guests". I am not a newbie to theatre situations although it was my first time at the Fillmore. I have no plans to ever return. read more

Great place in terms of architecture and the proximity that it allows the audience to get to the artists. Old school theater feel also adds to the atmosphere. However, what to say about the drink prices? Felt robbed at gunpoint paying $12 for a plastic cup of draft beer. The only downside to the place, but a big one in my humble opinion. Reduce drink prices and the venue will get a 5-star review from me, hehe. read more

WOW Earth Wind & Fire tonite. It was one of the best shows i have seen.The venue was beautiful the staff was great and the band was on fire. The place was full of energy and everybody was having fun. I will be coming back to see future shows. Tonite was magic. read more

Horrible experience at this place! Security was rude (AND I HAD A VIP TICKET). I wasn't allowed in the VIP area though i spent an extra 100$ for it. THe area that gave you wristbands was closed so my ticket was worthless. Besides that i received "VIP parking" but waited ... get this 45 MINUTES to get my car and STILL had to tip the valet person $20 to push my car ahead of others who were there before me! read more

Circa Survive played there this past weekend, and out of the eleven times I have seen this band, seeing them at the Fillmore was by far the worst experience. The seating and standing situation at the Fillmore is always confusing. It was especially true this time around with no wristbands to determine who was in front. It seemed security would let people in between the different sections based on no merit, simply when they were feeling nice. I was confused as to the seating/standing situation while purchasing my ticket, and I called twice during the week before purchasing my ticket to confirm the situation. Neither time did the Fillmore pick up during their business hours. What garbage customer service. Getting to the venue, I paid the equivalent of another ticket on drinks. I know Miami is expensive, but the prices for alcohol were particularly unreal at this venue. Overall bad experience, and I have already contacted Circa Survive and told them they should keep performing in Ft Lauderdale if they can not find a more suitable venue than the Fillmore in Miami, because that place is straight trash. If you can see any performance at another venue in South Florida, save your self the headache and go there instead of the Fillmore. I'm going to make every effort to never attend this venue again. Highly disappointed in my current experience at this venue. There's a ridiculous amount of space left on the floor in front of the show but they've cut it off and aren't allowing more people in. Nowhere does it say first come first serve for general admission and my friends and I were super excited to be able to be part of the crowd tonight. The whole floor is reserved for the people that are already there, even if they have to go to the bathroom or get a drink or something, they get to waltz back in while the rest of us are subjected to the boring chairs in the back. I've been to probably a hundred shows and It's never been like this. You would have to stand post for hours waiting for what you wanted to see, and if you abandoned your spot oh well. I'm so angry I'm literally writing this during the opening acts. I came here to jam with a crowd for Jon bellion, and now I'm stuck with the squares in the back after paying 20 dollars for a beer and water. read more

I went to a concert at The Fillmore last week for a house DJ, Zedd. Overall, it was an exhilarating experience, but there were a few things I'd hate to deal with again. "The Pitt" is the floor level area that is always packed for concerts. I walked out of The Pitt at terrible timing to get water in the lobby, which was extremely overpriced, and as soon as I left, the main DJ came on. As I walked back to go into The Pitt to enjoy the artist from a closer view, security wouldn't let me back in because it was too crowded. So I had to settle for seats further back. I wasn't too upset about the seats because the venue was pretty small, especially for such crowded events, so it's not like I was missing out on too much of the action. I couldnt complain because I still heard the music but it would've been nicer to have been closer up. When it came down to it, I liked that it was a petite venue in this particular situation. The security was quite strict on certain things but they were just doing their job. I think the venue is for a different type of genre other than EDM because it wasn't spacious enough to thoroughly enjoy the music. I had a blast and Fillmore was a great venue and an awesome experience! read more
