We typically sharpen our knives every six months and drop off at a shop in Petaluma that turns them around in a day or two. Running behind this year ahead of Thanksgiving, I needed an option that would be same day and every once in a while, my procrastination pays off in the form of a new, better option! I called George on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and asked if he could sharpen 45 knives and two scissors (basically all of our cutlery) same day if I dropped off at 9 am and picked up at 5 pm. I was shocked and happily surprised when he obliged. His shop is located on the side of his house and I met him in the morning and dropped off the knives as promised. He texted me early in the afternoon to let me know they were done. He was out front of his home waiting for me at 5 pm when I picked them up. My husband was so impressed at how sharp the knives were! When other reviewers say they're really sharp - they are (but in the best possible way)! Sharp knives are a joy to work with. We own primarily Wusthof and Henkel knives and we are so pleased with the quality of George's work. His prices are reasonable - especially considering the quality of his work and same day service! He cleaned all the knives after he finished. They were wrapped in paper and taped. Completely professional all the way! I cannot recommend George enough. read more

I couldn't be happier. I brought three knives to George, two standard and one serrated. Kitchen knives. For clarification purposes, 8.5", 7.5" and 5" blade lengths, respectively. Also, apropos to nothing, George was very nice and accommodating. He answered the phone immediately both days for drop off and pickup. He finished them in less than thirty minutes but since I was at a Doctor's appointment, I had to pick them up the next day. Boy, were they sharp! Sharp, and neatly wrapped in little paper sheaths. I would have to admit that they actually seem sharper than they were when I bought them. It prompted us to take a side trip to Sur la Table' to get a drawer block for them to try and keep them that way as long as possible. My only regret? I had 4 knifes done by George and he did a fantastic job on a razor sharp edge on all of them. My 8 & 10 inch chefs knifes and 10 inch slicer (Henckles) and a 12 inch slicer (Forschner) were all over 30 years old and is sharper than ever!! The reviews are correct. George does the best sharpening we've ever experienced. He did our entire set in an hour (including scissors and serrated). They are sharper than when we bought them and have a mirror finish. We bounced over to Montecito Village and shopped while we waited. Definitely our go-to sharpening service from now on. read more

Everything you read here is true. George put the most perfect edge on our set of mid-level Henckels knives. The straight blades are amazing, requiring virtually no pressure to cut. The serrated knives are a work of art. The price is very fair, and the turnaround time was impossibly fast. Highly recommended. read more

I asked George to sharpen 3 knives for me several months ago. He did a great job, this time I had a special knife called a Round knife used for skiving leather. I called George and he had not seen a Round knife but looked it up and said yea bring it over. I brought it and a couple of others over George sharpened them it about 20 min. When I got home and tested the knife it was razor sharp and worked perfectly. Thanks George. When it comes to the Star Rating system If I see 5 stars I ignore that rating because it was most likely paid for. In Georges case, he deserves more. read more

I brought several items to sharpen.. I had a10:00 appointment. George was waiting in the driveway when I arrived. He told me it would take 45 minutes.. it did!! One of the items I bought was a pair of scissors that no longer cut. He told me, "No charge" he only had to tighten screw on the blades. I wouldn't have known.. he could have made a few extra $'s, but he kept it honest. I don't remember my Forschner knife ever this sharp. I contacted him through messages on yelp.. he called me within the hour.. on a Sunday!! I'm gathering more old, dull items to take to him for regeneration. Serious 5 stars!! read more

UPDATE! Now he is installing a drop box! At the beginning of May, 2013, George has fashioned and is installing a stainless steel drop box--so that you can drop your knives off when he is not there. Bonus! read more

Very easy to drop off and pick up knives for sharpening. We dropped them off and they were done after we walked around Spring Lake. George did a great job with an assortment of knives. We had one very old knife that needed curing and George did that for no charge after sharpening. Now I'm looking for what else needs sharpening! read more

This guy is great! I was in a bind (20+ knives needed sharpening within 2 days). He had them ready the next day. He also (patiently) gave me a tutorial on knife care, proper blade sharpening technique, cutting board surface comparisons, and knife brands. Damn it's sharp. I'm going to put warning labels on it. I could actually shave with our old kitchen knife. George definitely knows what he is doing. Call first, because George sharpens the knives in the back. My wife was going to throw the knife out because it had 40 years of wear. We now have a knife that looks new, as long as you don't look at the handle. read more
