Reluctantly returned after a few years away and left happy and full! Ordered and received a full rack of their sauced ribs; an honest "full rack" with 13 meaty bones, which has become a rarity. The ribs unfortunately were burnt near the narrow end, but I was able to eat around it and even had a few bones to take home. Aside from excess char, the ribs were fantastic! Seasoned very well with a great sauce and the heavenly wood fired taste. The grilled caesar salad was a delightful surprise and the service was efficient and pleasant. The server was less than enthusiastic about waiting on us. some of us just ordered drinks, many others ordered food, unless you order wine or beer, don't expect any liquor in your drink, food served without utensils or napkin. the food is never the same, one time you go and the food is del, the next time awfpull! When I needed somewhere to take my boss to dinner in Irwin that was somewhat casual and close to the interstate, the Firepit was the first location that came to mind. This restaurant is classy, but has a hometown, down-to-earth feel to it. The large selection of craft beers is its biggest appeal. They regularly have live musicians playing on weekends and offer wine and beer clubs for the locals to enjoy. The food is always prepared well with unique flavors that are fresh and taste homemade. The Firepit can get very busy on weekends, so a reservation is highly recommended. The cocktails were just okay and didn't pack any punch to them. I ordered the Norwin Sunrise, and it just tasted like expensive orange juice. I would just stick with a craft beer next time. We ordered the chips and salsa for an appetizer, and that was delicious. They also offer a chorizo dip that accompanies the chips and salsa which is delicious as well. The chicken salad is a large portion and we didn't leave hungry. This restaurant tends to draw a crowd of people in their late 40's and 50's. It is a great addition to the Irwin area and a classy location with delicious food. read more

We stopped here for drinks on St. Patty's weekend. We had a great time; more of an older crowd filled the bar area and a live Irish band played many classics. Families were finishing up their early dinners and I'd say we trickled in at the perfect time to miss the crowd. Eventually, we ordered chicken strips, bean and corn dip, and the pub pretzels, which were all pretty decent. Then corn and bean dip was probably my favorite- it came with a generous portion of both pita and tortilla chips for dipping. Our waitress was attentive and helpful; she never let our glasses get empty. We arrived around 5:30 and the hostesses did a wonderful job helping us to find seats at the bar, as the rest of the tables were taken with reservations. I've been here twice and both times the food has been absolutely perfect. They have the best Charred Shrimp Cocktail, the shrimp are very large and full of flavor, I've had this both times I've been there. I also had the House Salad with the added Steak, the steak was cooked exactly how i like it, I was able to cut it with the butter knife and delicious. I ended up getting the Cheesecake for dessert, so rich and decadent, it was huge, I brought it home and had enough for 2 more times. My friend had the Pizza Flat Bread and Southwest Salad, both were very large sized and she loved everything. Our Waitress was wonderful and provided us great service. The first time a group of us went and they had live music in the bar area which was very good but made it difficult to hear each other, this time the Steelers game was on and the bar was very busy so it got very loud at times. The portion sizes were huge and had plenty to take home for lunch the next day. I will definitely recommend this place. You might want to check to see what is going on in the bar area if your plan is a quiet dinner because it can be loud in the dining area. read more

We rushed in yesterday closer to 9pm, I typically plan my dine outs and look up reviews so I was skeptical based on the 3.5 overall stars here. I have to say I was impressed. I went with safe orders, I got a dozen wings, BBQ and buffalo with blue cheese. My wife went with chicken Cesar salad. The food had a nice smoky flavor to it. Wings where tender and flavorful. The lattice on the salad was fire grilled which was a nice surprise. The service was friendly. I made sure I leave a review mostly because I read a bunch of ridiculous 1 star reviews here, one guy's main complaint was that the owner was doing paperwork at the bar?!! Seriously?! Some people are genuine aee holes. Business owners put their heart and soul in their businesses and running a restaurant is about as tough as it gets so be a tad bit considerate when you review a business and leave your entitled bum at home. read more

We have been going to the Firepit since we moved to the area about three years ago. We have gone there about 10 times since it reopened after the lockdown. We eat out a lot, mainly for lunch and about 2-3 times a week. The main reason I'm writing this is that I do not understand the poor reviews. How often do some of you go to restaurants? And DW, sorry I think it's BS. If an owner of a restaurant said what you said they did, sounds like you probably deserved it. So, you were upset with the cost of some chicken wings? Too funny. As with MANY restaurants, there are times when things just don't go completely as you had wished. Have we had our moments at the Firepit, sure? But they have always been consistent with food preparation, taste, timeliness, cost, and kindness. I have recommended it to several others. read more

A nice newer place in Irwin. They have a decent menu with some things on it that are a bit out of the ordinary for Irwin but much much welcome. For example, I had a Cuban sandwich for lunch! Where else in Irwin could you get that? I had it with a Cesar salad which was also good. You have the option of having the salad chopped or grilled! (yes they grill the actual salad) I did not have mine grilled but I heard that it is very tasty. They have a big outside area to sit in if the weather is nice, the only bad part about it is the only thing you have to look at is the massive shopping center parking lot and the highway beyond that. My husband and I have visited for drinks, dined in, dined on the patio, and ordered take out. WHEN DINING AT THE RESTAURANT: We have always been seated promptly and had great service. The restaurant is clean, and plates/glasses are always cleared without asking. Our favorite menu items include the Pit Burger and the So Cal Tacos. The beef, chicken, and vegetables are a better quality than most area restaurants use. Our most recent visit was on St. Patrick's Day - our table was reserved as requested and the place was PACKED, but our food and service never suffered. The bartenders are always on point when mixing the drinks. WHEN ORDERING TAKE OUT: It used to be our go-to for take out about once a week, but not anymore. The way that Firepit packages the food items is great (i.e. sauces on the side that are in containers with lids, letting the meat rest before placing it on the bun, etc.). However, there has been a complete lack of quality control, so we've received the correct order but it doesn't match the description on the menu or what we've been served in the dining room. This is a solid choice to visit for lunch/dinner, especially when the patio is open and there's a live band. read more

I have heard my stories about this place when it first opened. But honestly this is the best place to eat at. I had the shrimp tacos with the smoked Mac and cheese. Last night we had a group of 20 with a reservation. They had us at two separate tables out on the patio- fine. But we also had two separate servers. The two tables got their food about 40 mins in between of each other. When we approached the manager /owner, he said the power went out in between orders and the kitchen did not get order. Our experience started great very accommodating when we wanted to move closer to the bar. Our waitress didn't bring out our meals, she never came to check on us. She passed out table multiple times and didn't even look at us. I finally stopped her and questioned my fiancé's chicken sandwich. The menu read "crispy" in the details- it was not crispy at all. When I questioned her about it she got loud and said "I'll get someone" I was very confused. When "someone" else came over they never introduced their selves or said their position at the restaurant. Her statement was "that's how it is" we again read the menu to her and said this is not crispy. She did ask if he wanted something else I said no just a box (for my meal) and our check. Came here after the restaurant I was planning on going to was booked. The inside was typical new restaurant that looks like they built super fast and didn't use quality materials. We were served quite fast. Sat at a table not the bar. The food was alright. Had a burger and salad with steak. The portions were smaller than most restaurants like this. There were only 6 pieces of steak with the salad when you paid a considerable amount more to add. The ingredients were fresh which I liked. Overall, for the quality of the food and atmosphere, the price of food didn't meet expectations. If they had better specials or happy hour deals would go back. But not paying full price read more

Firepit Wood Fired Grille is a welcomed a change from the typical franchised restaurants one finds throughout suburbia. The casual atmosphere makes for a great lunch or dinner spot to hangout with friends/family or catch a game on the bar's televisions (if you're into that). For our first visit we all ordered a mixture of sandwiches, soups, and salads. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, which I was expecting to be pretty good cause it's a rather simple order that's hard to mess up. However, after one bite I was wishing I had ordered something/anything else. The chicken tasted as though it was simply boiled in water and not given much attention to it during its preparation. Plus, the wrap sauce lacked the spiciness that I've come to expect when I read the word "buffalo" on the menu. Needless to say I was left disappointed and a little bit hungry, because I did not finish the wrap. As this is a new addition to the Irwin area, I understand that it'll take some time to work out the hiccups. I'm willing to give it another try, but I won't be ordering the Buffalo Chicken Wrap again for quite some time. read more

I have tried a couple of times to give this place a chance because it looked like it would be worth a shot. Unfortunately, all of my experiences were bad enough that I have to comment on it. I truly love trying different places and I give the benefit of the doubt in 99% of cases, so for me to leave a poor review is to leave me with a rare impression. For starters, the last time I stopped here was on a slow afternoon. I think we were one of three tables seated in the whole restaurant, if you count a person at the bar as one of those tables. Service was slow, slow enough that I took notice of it, because as a former server myself I'm extremely lenient with some of the unseen circumstances that may affect our experience. But worst of all was the food which I have to say is one of the only times in history I didn't clean my plate. I ordered a portobello mushroom burger, and it was so salty and briny that I couldn't force myself to finish more than a couple of bites. Tasted like it was marinating in salty red wine vinegar for a week. My boyfriend, however, ordered fish and I could smell it before it even arrived at our table. Not in a good way. It smelled almost rancid. When we finally got our server's attention after a period of time, she admitted that "oh, yeah, it does smell off" and returned it to the kitchen. Nobody else realized the smell before it was sent out...? She came back and offered my boyfriend something else to eat. He played it safe with some fried chicken fingers. Sadly, these tasted awful as well and we were still charged for them on the bill despite him almost eating rotten fish. I couldn't get out of that place fast enough, with the looming smell of a dirty harbor and the bitter unquenchable taste of brine left in my mouth. I ate here during the afternoon, and there was hardly anyone there, so I don't know how a dining experience would be at a busier time. I am CELIAC and have to eat GLUTEN FREE. They advertise that they offer gf on their menu, but it's not a lot - more like they tell you what you can't have. I had a Hamburg and it was very good and I did not get sick - that's important and why I gave them 4 stars. The service was on the slow side, especially for how few customers were there, but when we asked for refills she got them for us. Our waitress was not real knowledgeable about gluten free selections, but if that's not an issue for you so be it. I would go back, but there wasn't anything to rave about, it was good. The staff at this restaurant are truely kind, caring, and provide a lovely dining experience. I was especially happy with the treatment of my grandparents. They shared an order of a sandwich and their meal was brought out on two plates already proportioned in smaller amounts. This made splitting the meal between them very easy. The food was delicious (as always) and the Saturday deal on Long Island Ice tea is awesome!! I also like the design of the interior. We love to come to this restaurant together as a family.
