I did an online order, one pound of head on shrimp, half pound of crawfish, with a side of sausage, Cajun sauce, extra spicy. Was it spicy? No. Did I get a pound of shrimp? Also no. I weighed the shrimp when I got home and I got .68 lbs. was it delicious and tasty? No. Will I come back here again? No. Overly salted, not well spiced or seasoned... crawfish wasn't fresh. I got the standard one corn, one egg, two potatoes. It just wasn't good.

I really love this place! its very peaceful and their sea food boils are very good!! my favorite food from this place is definitely their egg fried rice, its definitely the best fried rice ive ever tried, its rich and buttery in a way that makes you want to keep eating it!! I love this place and ive been coming here since early 2020 and its definitely one of my favorites seafood places to go to! the workers are also very friendly and this place is ALWAYS clean.

Small restaurant business. I'm a fan of seafood. I have been to New Orleans, great seafood there at a low price. So I'm kind of spoiled by the price and amount of food you get. Of course I know the price for shipping has to be in consideration being in Kansas City. I'd say a little pricey. But not by that much. First pic out of the bag was impressive. They use a rubber band to keep the lid close. Opening the lid you find a plastic bag. This took up space. So looks can be distracting. There was a fair amount of food. Drowned in butter, medium size diced garlic, your choice of seasoning, there's a few to choose. I chose Cajun of course, being a New Orleans fan. I found it a little too much salt for my taste. I did enjoy my meal. Seafood and BBQ/ finger foods, I love. If it isn't messy a little. You're not doing it correctly. So I enjoyed the fact, "It's messy." They do give you a bib and gloves for those who don't like licking the butter off your fingers. My taste in spice level isn't that of, " My mouth is on fire." But I like to sweat a little. Mild for me, Thank you. I did a walk in order to go. Service was speedy, but they weren't that busy either. I like, off the Country Club Plaza places. So if you're like minded. I would say give them a try. Support local small businesses. And decide for yourself.

Started out for dinner at Krazy Krab and the colorful sign for Crazy Crab caught our eye. We decided to give it a shot for dinner. Our food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The Cajun spice wasn't too spicy. We ordered Hot but next time would probably do extra hot. Everything in the bag was flavorful and cooked just right! This isn't a formal place - it's super casual. They don't currently have any servers, but they were delivering the food to your table. Make sure you use the bin and gloves- you'll be glad you did!

Oysters

The oysters were delicious and fresh, the seafood boil wasn't as spicy as I wanted. That was a real bummer. It was quick service and super convenient and it was a clean restaurant.

Crab legs, corn, shrimp and butter

I ordered garlic butter mild seasoning #1 combo and all I got was garlic. Shrimp literally taste like just shrimp. No seasoning at all. Like I'm headed to get something to season this food with. Every corn and potatoes is just sitting in butter. I can't finish this and I'm pissed because this is not what I paid for. I will not be returning

Crawfish the mix in extra hot

Tested this place out as I was in KC. The food smelled amazing. You def can tell when its fresh vs. frozen. For being frozen the snow crab was the best. I definitely would come back for those. Out of the flavors medium garlic butter love the chunky garlic cuts. The mix extra hot was the best out of the two. Even if that was no where near extra hot. Its takeout only due to road construction and covid. But I would love to experience the dine in ambiance as well. Friend got the fried oyster basket. Was not impressed, maybe because the oysters are not in season. A true seafood place would suggest something different.

I will give them a 4 star because the food is amazing, I love seafood and the sides, although I like them I wish they have more flavors to select from. everytime I have gone in there, there is always a wait and rightful so. the staff is friendly and diverse also very good at suggesting what to order. The spice levels are great. I personally always take friends or just my S/O and I but I always get the seafood combo which comes with crab legs, shrimp, corn, potatoes and egg. the food is soo good so I will happily pay what they ask for but I do not think they are reasonably priced.

#7 All Mixed/Hot

I finally tried the city's "HOT NEW" seafood restaurant - CRAZY CRAB that had Social Media buzzing for the last few weeks. I must say that I wasnt terribly impressed. I ordered shrimp (head off) extra eggs & sausage Garlic Butter/Mild and a #7 combo that includes the crawfish, shrimp, potatoes, and corn - All Mixed/Hot. I added an extra 1/2 lb of crawfish hoping for the best. Soooo looking at the 1st order (Shrimp) it looked and tasted as if it was simply covered in butter. I barely tasted a hint of garlic. So we lose a star here. Now comes the #7 with the Crawfish. I wasnt impressed by the presentation. It looked as if all the seasoning was on TOP of the crawfish. But hey, its Kansas City, I can't expect Louisiana crawfish in the Midwest unless I cooked them myself. But hey a girl can dream right? I tried the shrimp first, not terribly bad but I was looking for that kick from the "ALL MIXED/HOT" sauce. Well ummmm it's been appx 24 hours later and I'm still waiting on it to kick in. But we aren't going to take a star yet. They are new let's give them a chance right..... soooo here's the make it or break it point. The CRAWFISH. My FAVORITE Seafood dish ever. I'm a Louisiana girl . I was ready to pinch the tail and suck the head and be in total seafood heaven and sadly that didnt happen. So here went the other star... I am literally looking at the season on my crawfish (which I'm not accustomed to) and I go to eat the crawfish tail and tadaaa there was NO flavor. I had to take the meat from the tail and rub it over the crawfish itself (that's where the seasoning was) in order to get some seasoning on the tail. I will say the boiled egg and corn were good. But $67 later and with allll the hype on Social Media, I was expecting so much more. The remodel from Chubbys to Crazy Crab is nice. The service wasnt terribly bad. The telephone number isn't listed anywhere on the business page on Social Media or the webpage that's not completely up and running as of Sunday 1/29/19. I found the telephone number by looking at other reviews and someone posted the menu displaying the number. You are unable to order online nor over the phone despite what the website says. To quickly compare it to the seafood restaurant across the street (I won't mention the name out of respect), I wouldn't count them out yet. I believe if they step up their game just a little bit, add a little bit more to their menu they will still be in the running. #SeafoodJunky #CrawfishLover #LouisianaGirl

The salmon and broccolini were cooked well but the risotto was undercooked (crunchy in the middle). The fudgy ganache ball, the only dessert option, was also kind of ordinary. I thought restaurants would take the opportunity to really shine, to try to impress, but that was not my experience. Particularly surprising was how indifferent the service was. The bill was almost $90, I didnt feel like what I got was worth that much money money. We had a drink in the bar after we finished dinner and the service was much more attentive and friendly, which made the dinner service even more apathetic by comparison. I went to the same restaurant for happy hour about a month ago and got mussels in curry cream sauce that were amazing, so perhaps my expectations were too high.

Dinner in the restaurant with Erin was very pleasant. We started with the shrimp appetizer and if you are not a fan of horseradish, don't be scared off by the description (I'm glad I talked myself into trying it). The flavors in the cream sauce balanced the normally strong flavor of horseradish and it was excellent. Hubby had the ribeye and mashed potatoes and I tried the crab cakes and beet salad. I was very happy with my choices and the two made for a nice entree. Either would have been too small on their own. Dinner was good and we would recommend it, but we probably won't rush back just because it's a fairly pricey meal and it wasn't exceptional in our minds.

We show up for our reservations and get seated for a wonderful meal. Ambiance was surreal. The vibes inside were that of a modern Italian kitchen inside of a Southern parlor room. I know that doesn't make any sense, but it's true. And the restaurant looks out upon the quaint downtown street of this Kansas City suburb through giant, floor-to-ceiling windows. So beautiful. Service was great, as well. The server knew the menu very well, and was able to answer a few questions, guiding me to the correct thing to order. The apps, entrees, and dessert were all paced well, too. Service lead to a lovely evening. As for the food, we started off with the Not-So-Standard Potato Chips (parmesan, sauce flight: gold sauce, comeback sauce, black pepper bourbon ketchup). These were very good. House cooked chips that were just thick enough, had a good bite to them, and were absolutely covered in luscious parm. The sauce flight was fun, too. Keep the leftovers around to pair with the rest of your meal. Onto the Low Country Pimento Cheese (fried saltine crackers, candied black pepper bacon, bread & butter pickles, tomato jalapeño jam). Hillbilly charcuterie. Lots of fun to mix and match some bacon, some pickles, a little jam, all on those very unctuous Saltines. Very fun app. My main was the Brick Pressed Chicken (lemon & thyme brine, prosciutto & sausage bread pudding, caramelized cabbage, lemon & shallot cream sauce). Chicken was cooked to a charred perfection, that savory bread pudding was just an amazing as it sounds, and the cream sauce really brightened everything up. I don't usually get chicken, but I'm telling you, this was the chicken to get. I also got to try one of the nightly specials, some sort of cheesy parmesan pasta covered in black truffle shavings. It was as extravagant as it sounds. Fresh-made pastas, giant chunks of lobster, cheesy ooey gooey, and those truffle shavings add just a touch of class and umami that really made this a good pasta dish. We finished up with the Gram & Dun Bar (chocolate peanut and pretzel nougat, marshmallow cream cheese, chocolate mousse, peanut butter ice cream). Again, another thing I don't usually go for, the dessert bar, but this place did it in a way I haven't seen before. Each layer added to the dessert. Nougat, cream cheese, and mousse, all tied together with that cold, creamy peanut butter ice cream. So so good. Overall, as good as this place was on paper, Gram & Dun really blew me away. Really elegant food, found right in the heart of the country. It was a pleasant surprise, and I would come back in a heartbeat.

The restaurant smelled and looked clean. Very nice decor and lighting ambience was nice. After being seated we waited about 15-20 for water. Shortly after the server approached with no introduction, simply asked if we wanted to get an appetizer started and drinks. He asked if we were celebrating any thing and we told him our anniversary. We ordered two appetizers to share, the Shrimp kisses are incredible, brought out by another server. We finished the appetizers and the dirty dishes sat in front of us for another 20 min while we waited. The manager ended up coming over and clearing the plates. My wife had asked for more bread, never got that but the next time we saw our waiter he cleared dishes from another party and put them on his old table, still dirt from the last guests. By now our water glasses were empty and the ice almost completely melted. Server comes by with my wife's salad and says, here you go, sorry about the wait, food will be right out. We think nothing about it but as we look up, the manager is bringing the entree. "Didn't want it to get cold" he says as he puts it down. So let's talk food, wife had the blackened halibut and was exceptional. All the veggies were delicious as well as my steak and lobster tail. Mashed potatoes were smooth with a few tasty lumps mixed in. Meal was very good. Server walked by in passing, asked if everything is tasting ok. "Very good " we replied and he pressed on, my coke nearly empty. As we finished he showed up again asking if we wanted desert but we were full. Next he asked if we were rewards members, I said no and he began his spiel. Told him I think we are ok, thanks, but continued about how it's only $27 and this meal will get me a free desert next time. "We are good my friend, thank you". This is the time where he realized he forgot it was our anniversary, he said "oh yea, weren't we celebrating tonight?" "We were", I said. Then he insisted on giving us a small desert, on him. We declined but again he insisted. Unfortunately it took another 20 min for it to come out. Small cup with chocolate cake, caramel, and heath bar with a scoop of ice cream. It was fabulous, too full but fabulous! Again, another log period for the check. Tragic that this meal and experience had to be tainted by this service. Here is the kicker, servers were constantly moving all around us checking on tables, delivering food, water and drinks. They never once looked to help any of our servers tables. The manager was kinda directing traffic as another waiter filled our water in the beginning after the long stent and again another brought out the appetizers. He had to step in to clear plate and bring food. The area we were seated in was not too busy, handled by several wait staff and yet still a delay. This 100% could have been avoided as other tables under our server had said something to the staff about the delays. I will say, I may return for another meal in this establishment due to its taste, but will not just sit back is service is terrible again. I thought about engaging the management or even walking out a few times however, it was my anniversary. I also don't like to treat people or establishments negatively as karma has a funny way of showing its face.
