My husband and I go often and we regularly get the catfish dinner from the senior menu. We get plenty of catfish and sides for a fair price, a great value less than $10 each plate. The service is always friendly, food is hot and the catfish always meets our expectations. We see other people's dinner choices and they always look just as appetizing. We enjoy looking at the murals and autographed pictures on the wall. If there is one gripe it's the parking lot. Be careful the potholes especially after a rain. read more

I drove by this place this morning on the way to a customer visit. I thought I would try it for lunch. I had seafood gumbo and dirty rice. I expected andouille, but it was lots of chicken and some shrimp and a few crawfish bits. It got greasy tasting near the end of the bowl. The place is clean and quaint. We ordered the food boil which the menu price and the price on the receipt are different (it was more expensive than advertised). The boudin balls were decent but the sauce with it was not great. Food was great. But the waiting was way too long. Took 10 mins just to get our drinks and the hostess is the one who did it. So kudos to him! There was one other group here so it wasn't super busy at all. We got a boil bag and "the big catch" -which the big catch is an all you can eat. Not once were we asked for another plate. So we got charged for that price ($20) which is wild. There was another group that was missing a few things and the waitresses didn't come ask how any of us were doing. So he had to go back into the kitchen just to get someone's attention. Just could use better staff. You could tell that they were high schoolers. So good for them wanting a job. But they need to learn that it's not all goofing off and to have better customer service. Instead of laughing extremely loud in the back and having other staff tell them to quiet down. Paid $68 for literally nothing. I just wanna know how a 14$ seafood boil bag with 1/2lb shrimp and 1/2 sausage equaled out to be 30.97?! What the actual f***?! The service was decent. The food price vs quality was not. The menu is more expensive in person then on here. The seafood platter that has catfish fillets is more like cat fish nuggets. The oysters weren't served w/ lemon, cocktail sauce or horseradish. We had to ask for them, and the lemon juice was packets. Our bill was over $70 and probably should have been $40 w/ the quality of food and two soft drinks. The others patrons were all seniors and I think that may be their target audience. After driving past this place for years I finally got a chance to check it out. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a lot of menu to look through!! Took a while to come to a decision. The crab tater tots were awesome, I do wish they had been a bit more crispy! For an entree I got the deep fried sausage which I didn't know was a thing but I'm glad I tried it!! I had the Cajun catfish tacos. First - they were not what I expected as the taco shells were essentially pita bread. Plus the slaw wasn't my style. That said, the catfish was wonderful. For the middle of the country I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the fish. I had scallops which appeared to not be fake and were cooked well although I wouldn't have preferred no breading. Went to LeMaire's simply because it was close to our hotel. First impression was not that great. When we entered two waitresses saw us. One turned and walked to the back area, the other one continued walking until she got close to the back, gave us a dismissive wave, and said we could sit anywhere. The same woman who told us to sit anywhere came and gave us our menus. She really seemed like she didn't want to be at work and was not very friendly at all. After taking our order we didn't see her for a while, and then after we got our food she sat down at a table and got on her phone. We had to wave down the other waitress to ask for some condiments. The buffalo chicken twists are nowhere close to what would you expect of them by their name. Our waitress when we asked her about it said that it was like fried barbecue chicken dip. This was nowhere close to that. This was almost like a pulled chicken barbecue sandwich, inside of an egg roll, served with sweet-and-sour sauce. It was a very strange combination that I would not recommend anybody try. The fish tacos were good, they definitely lacking seasoning. I love that they were served on these mini pita breads, but, was confused how that went with the Cajun theme. Now I don't know much about Cajun food, so, I could be wrong in assuming that that is more of a Mediterranean bread. The hubs got the Shrimp Po' Boy and was not impressed. Again it was completely underseasoned, he ended up eating it after dousing it with some hot sauce. I was really disappointed by this experience. I had heard that LaMaire's was a great place to go. Head off the beaten path to this roadside restaurant full of Cajun flavor, Hush Puppies, Blackened Catfish, Frog Legs, and Fish & Chips. Red Lobster has nothing on LeMaire's fresh fish fare. Most things will arrive thickly breaded, so ask for guidance on what won't be breaded if you're going for a low-carb meal. I give it 5 stars for great fried food quality, friendly and fast service, and maintaining its quirky flare individual and unique to them with large hand-painted wall murals and funny little alligators posed in weird ways around the restaurant. I have always been a fan of LeMaire's ever since my mom and step-dad took me there years ago. I typically do not write restaurant reviews; however, I feel  compelled to write about my experience there on Friday, March 11, 2022. My family and I arrived at dinner time. The place was packed which on a Friday night is to be expected. I decided to set a timer to see how long it would take for us to receive our meal. The server came and took our drink orders and our food orders. 30 minutes after our food order had been taken our food had not arrived. We had plans that evening so we couldn't wait much longer. We asked our server how much longer she thought it would take for our food to arrive. She simply shrugged her shoulders and told us she didn't know. There was a couple that arrived about 35 minutes after we had been seated. They only stayed for approximately 10 minutes. When their drink orders had not been taken they simply got up and left. We asked our server to come over and politely told her that if our food wasn't served soon we would have to leave. After waiting 45 minutes we were still waiting for our order. We told her server that we could not wait any longer and we left. The last time I went to LeMaire's we also waited a lengthy amount of time for our food. We waited so long that the manager comped our meal. While I love the food at LeMaire's - the lengthy waiting time isn't worth it. read more

I like catfish and was glad to find this place. The Cajun beans are really good, the coleslaw average, but the hush puppies were made of flour instead of cornmeal. They were tough, and like the catfish, tasted like they were cooked hours ago and kept under a heat lamp. Catfish shouldn't be limp and tough. The flavor was good and I ate most of it but passed on the strange hush puppies. I suggest if you eat here , ask for your catfish to be cooked fresh. I ask the waitress if they will do that and she said they would. She wasn't bothered about my order tasting like it was warmed over. I got a "sorry about that" like she hears it often. We used to love this place but over the last few years it's really gone downhill. The catfish we had was extremely soggy will the rice was crunchy. My son wanted the grilled PB&J and fruit when it came out it was a PB&J uncrustable that was completely burnt and a tiny fruit cup. I really wanted to love this place. On the surface it looks like a great place to dine in, the art work is beautiful and the staff are friendly. But there's nothing really cajun here. The crawfish is dry and tasteless. The snowcrab is a bit overcooked sticks to the shell. And the boiled items are like half gone yet still present on the menu, thats a huge disappointment. The cajun mustard catfish is very good! We tried both - the cajun and the cajun mustard. The mustard had a much better flavor. Don't get me wrong, the regular is very good too! Here's my experience... Arrived at 7 Friday evening ordered a sampler platter to share with my boyfriend. An hour later I ask if we can add a couple of salads because we are starving, they bring out a small app of fish, which was nice. Almost 30 mins later our food arrives... Most of it cold, the fried oysters and stuffed crab were raw. The only thing hot and crunchy were the shrimp, had one when I was trying everything, mad and debating whether or not to pay..... Decided I was out of there, having been there for almost and hour and a half, I grabbed one more shrimp to eat. Someone came up to the table grabbed the plate of food saying "your not going to pay, then have a good night" and took it away. Catfish here is Delicious, fresh, lightly breaded and served hot! Sides: just okay. Cajun rice and baked beans tasted like they had been made yesterday. Good creamy slaw. Decent hush-puppies. Good sweet tea. Big Boudin balls with a spicy remoulade. Service left a lot to be desired and could have been friendlier. Very disappointed I have been going for years and always enjoyed the cat fish. However my wife and I went on 5/18/19 the fish was cold and tough. They tryed to make it right by reducing the price. There are obvious management issues here. Service is slower than slow. Not the cleanest either. Having said that, the catfish is excellent. We tried both the Cajun style as well as the mustard Cajun. GET THE MUSTARD CAJUN STYLE. A lot more flavor. The fish itself was fresh and plump and juicy. Hush puppies have good flavor(hint of jalapeño) but a tad dry. Cole slaw was pretty good. Baked beans were basically pork and beans from a can with a little bbq sauce. Cajun rice was dry and bland. Service really lacked and did I mention SLOW. But the fish almost made up for it. Don't come in a hurry. Come when you have an hour and a half and don't expect to eat right away. But the mustard Cajun catfish is almost worth the wait. read more

My husband's family is from Louisiana and he has always wanted to go to this place when we moved to the city. The interior of the place was beautiful. I loved the paintings/drawings. My first impression when I entered the place was... THIS PLACE LOOKS DEAD. I could count how many people were in the restaurant. We went there around 4 pm, almost dinner time. There wasn't anyone at the front to greet us which is fine so we were confused at first if we could just seat anywhere or we had to wait because there weren't no sign (which is okay for me). Our server was amazing! She seemed like the manager but I wasn't sure. While waiting for our food, I noticed how quiet it was. There weren't any music playing so it was just quiet in the restaurant with other 4 families, they played music again after 20 minutes while we were there. I loved the music they played (country). They also offer a 10% MILITARY DISCOUNT. Food was GREAT according to my husband. For me, it was alright, I'm not just a fan of fried seafood. I was expecting my salad to be a little bit bigger but the salad was good, it's just the shrimp and crab meat weren't that a lot. My husband loved his frog legs and the boudin balls that we had. Lemaire's has been in Sedalia for decades, but I haven't been since they moved locations. We'd had good food at the old location, but not great food in the past. I was craving catfish, so we decided to give it a try. It was so awesome! I had a seafood plate that had catfish, fried oysters, shrimp, and deviled crab. The shrimp was edible, but not fantastic. I've never liked their hushpuppies, but everything else was delicious. My family is from the Gulf, so I know what good seafood is supposed to taste like. This was good! read more

We've stopped into LeMaire's a few times now and our experience has always been positive, something that is really hard to come by when you're a family of 6. The coconut shrimp dinner has become my go to (I'm a big fan) and it's been great each time. In the past my husband has gotten the catfish dinner which he said was delicious although most recently he wasn't fond of the blackened fish that he ordered. He wasn't going to say anything but the waitress noticed and was quick to make it right. Service was very friendly and it was nice to see that feedback was encouraged. Our kiddos seem to eat really well when we come so we keep coming back! I have been going to this place since I was eligible for a kids meal. I order the same thing then as now. The catfish dinner. It is a generous portion of fish with beans, rice, coleslaw, and hush puppies. All of it is delicious. It's not gourmet just good southern cooking. They have had some down years recently but a change in management seems to have righted the ship. Our last visit was amazing! Great fresh food. We had catfish, shrimp and frog legs. They were all great. Our rambunctious party of 10 was very happy. We had a mix up with a kids meal and they brought out a whole new meal. I've never written a review before and this place was so terrible I felt I was doing a injustice to all yelpers by not calling this place out for exactly what it is: overpriced crap. We just left here and, seriously, all I can think about are ways to shut this place down. I was really excited to eat here, but, once we got the food, it was a complete nightmare. Each tail was still frozen! We sent it back and the server returned it 3 minutes later, which I can only assume was freshly out of the microwave. Still gross. Didn't eat it or bother complaining more, because this place is definitely the kind of place that would spit in your food. I heard the cook get an attitude when we returned our still frozen appetizer. For the meal, we both ordered the seafood platter. I was expecting something pretty solid for $15, but, shock of shocks...COMPLETE LET DOWN! The fried catfish was rubbery and over seasoned. The rice was pretty room temp, mushy and bland. The hush puppies were also room temp and pretty dry. The beans were COLD, but the flavor was alright, I guess. (At this point, I'm getting pretty annoyed with how much complaining I'm doing, but I'm going to power through it!) The stuffed crab had to have been sitting there all day because it was dried out, room temp and disgusting! Seriously awful. The fried butterfly shrimp was edible, but it tastes better coming from the frozen section at Walmart! Last, but most definitely not least, were the fried oysters. These suckers were delicious. I would say it's comparable to fried bar food. I don't know if I just latched on to these because it was the only thing on my plate that was hot and crispy or because it was genuinely good, but I enjoyed them. I wish I would have gotten the oyster dinner, however, I didn't want to pay the $17 for what I assumed was going to be crap anyway. The place is tired and probably needs to close... I try to find the silver lining in things but there is none here. Where do I start? The gumbo was watery like chicken broth. If there was roux used in it I would be surprised. The catfish was chewy. I felt like the whole meal was microwaved. Our waitress was not knowledgeable about their menu, or how Cajun food should be. We were brought in by a restaurant.com coupon so that saved us a bit on the bill, but I still left feeling very mad because I felt like I just wasted 30 bucks after the coupon.
