Service was great, we were greeted pretty quickly even though they were busy. Sat in less than 5 minutes. Our waitress checked on us in a timely manner, our cups never sat empty. The space itself gives you a family bar feeling. Looks like it would be a great locals spot. They had enough tables for any size groups and it was very clean. For appetizers we had the fried pickles and pork rinds. I'd give the fried pickles a 2/5, they had flavor but lacked crunch. The breading was missing on 80% of the pickle. The pork rinds, FRIEND, those were probably the highlight of my meal. The sizzle and pop, the crunch, flavor...I'm drooling just thinking about them again. I don't think I can ever have them from a bag again. 5/5 Main Coarse we ordered the mac-n-skilled with pulled pork, the kids chicken taco with tots, brisket stuff shells, and brisket Philly cheesesteak with a side of hush puppies. Mac-n-skillet, the meat was a tad bit dry but had a good amount of cheese. Creamy. Only downside was the pork. 3.5/5. The Brisket Philly was cheesy, meat was good, great flavor just a bit too greasy. Hush puppies were good, nothing stood out in particular. 4/5. The kids chicken taco and tots were ok. Not enough cheese and the tortilla was hard, tots were just right. 3.5/5. Though our server was excellent... delightful and attentive... servers can't compensate for the food, which was just meh. If you like a loud atmosphere with greasy pub food, go here. Expect to use a lot of napkins to layer the fried green tomatoes in between to soak up the grease but do it quickly before they cool. This is a paper plate place with lots of napkins. Not my favorite BBQ in the world and definitely not as good as the first time I went. But shockingly the fried fish was quite tasty. Oddly enough I may even have to recommend that. Second time here and had the BBQ brisket sandwich, it was so tender and good! The bang bang shrimp was equally delicious. This place is really busy at nights and has a large outdoor area attached with plenty of seating inside and out. You can tell the locals love this place and it can get pretty loud even during lunch around the large bar area right in the middle of the main room. Always have had a good meal here, and wanted to stop by again since the server was so pleasant the last time. She made us feel at home with her personality, service is such an important asset that one will remember, it brought us back from afar. Employees are the face of the restaurant and I believe it is imperative to have the best well trained crew to represent a great experience! I was excited to try this place for the catfish after getting a recommendation from a friend but I was a little disappointed with the catfish itself. The bang bang shrimp was absolutely delicious and the rest of the food was decent. It was extremely busy, which was a good sign but there was only one waitress there to serve everyone since apparently some folks had called out. Surprisingly, the waitress did well handling the large amount of customers as we didn't have to wait too long for our food. I'd like to go back and give the catfish another try. Everything seemed off to us. First we felt a little forgotten when we first got there. Only got one refill which for me is no bueno. I ordered the half rack of ribs. I'm wondering why people don't season their food in Virginia. The ribs were plain tasting as could be. Not even smoky or charred like good bbq should be. Puppies were light, fully cooked and has a crispy crust! Fried cat fish was thankfully light on coating, but had lots of crunch and tender fish. It's casual and our server was super nice and informative. The pork skins were so good! Hot and still popping when we were crunching on them! Food was large portions! So you better be hungry! The pork was tasty, moist and smoked really well and sauces on the table to choose from. My catfish and hubs was really good and we liked the batter they use. It is a BBQ bar joint with pretty good food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere. I'll start by saying I was so excited to see this restaurant on yelp and how close it was to our hotel and it was a plus that all 3 grandkids agreed it would be a great place to eat. We had two different Mac and cheese skillets both had an awful , weird taste , we ordered chicken wings and the sauce was like straight grease and very bitter, The collard greens were swimming in what appeared to be straight vinegar. The only thing that was edible was the pork rinds. it was very disappointing after a long drive to spend $70.00 and not be able to eat anything other than pork rinds. Met a bunch of ladies and one gentleman to celebrate a friends birthday. The restaurant seated us as soon as half our group had arrived.
