Been probably 10 years since I've been to a Golden Corral! I will say, I enjoyed myself immensely. Service was fine, wish when I got a refill she would've given us ice . My tea was warm and not good. But the food was fantastic! Wish they had prime rib but that might be a dinner item! The mashed potatoes were excellent along with the marinated beef tips and the gravy. Everything was hot and the kitchen staff was quick about refilling empty dishes. For 11.99 yes!!! I wish there was one closer to Farmville Va! Friendly warm welcome since 1st step inside by manager. All waitresses were smiling and pay attention at guests, hardy to find in big city, very please and polite, my waitress offered baked potato or sweet potato ( but no sour cream and brown sugar at that moment; delay delivery) she often checked on our table, drinks never empty and used plates took out every time she passed by. Foods looked good, taste average same as buffets a lot of choices of American food. Desert section like heaven for kids. Really like this restaurant; full of smiles and feel comfortable. read more

This is my first survey for the Waynesboro GC, so it should count as x100 for my survey oversight. With a childhood fondness for buffets in general, but GC, Hoss's, and some Asian establishments, this place is uniquely head-and-shoulder above every single one I have tried across the country. Management should be recognized because if they do something wrong, the rest of the operation is suspect. Anthony Bourdain said (paraphrased), "If you want to evaluate a restaurant, go to the restroom. They KNOW you go there for something. If it is filthy and unkempt, just think how they keep the kitchen and food storage where most will NEVER go!" I once let someone know that the Men's room needed attention (it being Sunday and busy!); the response was immediate (by more one staff member, including the manager) and effective. They thanked me! Always a good choice for a good meal. The people who run the restaurant very friendly, prices are reasonable and always has a friendly group who eat there. When I was younger, I really liked Golden Corral. All you can eat fried deliciousness. Then I realized that flavor is important too. We came here for breakfast because our hotel didn't offer any, and it was nearby. The "hot" stuff was lukewarm. Nothing really tastes great. The water also tasted a little funky, but that could just be how the water tastes in the area. The service was good. The staff were all very polite, and the fact that Golden Corral is just not great is little fault of their own. read more

Don't advertise steak if you can't keep up. It was either dried leather or completely raw. The steak cook seemed to think I was weird by asking for a piece that was medium or anywhere in the mid range. She was really weird about it. Didn't make sense. From previous experiences that I have had with Golden Corrals, this ONE is certainly unlike any other. So my wife and I decided that since we are on our way to Virginia Beach, we wanted to find a place that was good to eat at. There's a review as of 4 days ago, I Believe. Anyway, as we walked in we were greeted with a warm smile and a very Nice hello. We grabbed our drinks, went to our seat and continued to grab plates and then looked around for food. First off the food was hot and they even brought out fried Shrimp that was hot as well. We took what we grabbed and went to our table and started eating. Let me tell you I even smelled Steak when I walked in and I got it medium rare. I began eating that first, it was juicy and it was very delicious. I had chicken livers, corn, cantaloupe, honeydew and pineapple and at the end I had Banana Pudding. I have to say that I wish I could rate this place higher than a 5 because they deserve it. The only downfall was the Hushpuppies were cold but, that doesn't mean that I'd give the review any less of a rating. That said, I HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for a place to eat and you don't mind a buffet, I'd encourage you to eat here. Can't wait to come back!! Pretty much like every other GC experience I've had. The wait staff was friendly and refilled drinks regularly. No real complaints here, it's a Golden Corral, a buffet. We went in a moment of weakness. :P (Their rolls and honey butter are too yum to forget)... If you've never been to a GC before, you should probably lower your expectations and call it what it is. It's an all you can eat cafeteria style buffet. Thought it was pretty amusing that it's situated on a hill in such a way that it has an amazing view of the mountains, haha. read more

Best Golden Corral ever and I've been to quite a few. Greeted warmly and volunteered discount for military service due to my hat. Our party of seven, after paying, was greeted by server by raised hand and guided to our table. One server made sure we had everything for a great meal. Server even had a special sauce prepared for our prime rib. All along buffet, servers made sure everything was well supplied. So, everything from ample parking to be thanked for coming was great. Either this is a unique restaurant or Golden Corral has picked up their game. read more

My family and I stopped here to eat on the way back home. There is a Panera and other food places nearby, but choose to eat here for the buffet experience. I am a vegetarian and there were lots of great options, like rice, cooked vegetables, and the fruit and salad bars. In my neighborhood Golden Corral, they do not offer the same buffet items as this one does so it was a nice surprise. The wait staff is extremely friendly and quick to replenish drinks. We honestly we're going to cracker Barrel and had to drive by the Golden corral to get there, not very well marked so we didn't even know it was here. My husband and I visited the Waynesboro VA GC today. We like going there because the staff are very accommodating. Today we asked for a special order and our waitress Karla went straight to the kitchen to put in our request. The manager made sure our order was promptly brought to us. Evidence of worms baked into the sweet potato... They CLEARLY could have seen the potato was infested PRIOR to wrapping it in foil and baking the suckers in there... Holes all up in it.... But no... I had to eat most of it to find the things attached to the skin and protruding into the middle.... The manager didn't really act surprised and refunded me... But still... We just went and ate here for lunch, a young lady was cleaning floors and we ask her if that sweeper does a good job and she said yes I just bought it at Walmart for $30 !!!WHAT YOU HAD TO BUY IT??? She said yes we have to buy them ourselves to keep our area clean , WOW we we SHOCKED ... How can they make the servers buy there own sweepers when they are trying to make there money for there families... SHAME ON GOLDEN CORRAL!!! First experience (and last) with this establishment. Called around 6:30pm on a Saturday to place a to go order for 1 dozen rolls. The employee simply said "ok. That'll be $3.33. Thank you" and hung up the phone. Approximately 15 minutes later I arrive to pick them up and nobody knows anything about this order. One female with management team embroidered onto her shirt simply stood there the entire time leaning on a sign "wait to be seated" while the cashier in question went off to I assume place my order. Time goes by, a male manager does come out to let me know my order was getting prepared and it would be a few minutes. Once it's ready, the male manager once again returns to deliver my order and tells me I can just follow the group around the other side of the railings to exit. I asked them (the male and female holding up a sign pedestal manager) who I needed to pay since I hadn't paid yet. Once again...I'm directed to follow the other customers to the other side of the railing to exit. The second time I asked again about payment it sunk in. "Oh, she didn't ring you up?" Of course not...my original cashier once finding out I was there to retrieve a call in order had disappeared and never came back with no mention of where she was going, if she was going to help me, is she had hit the lottery, had quit and was walking out....nothing. The male manager wrung me up and it was more than the $3.33 quoted by the female on the phone. At that point I was just ready to go and over the experience. The male manager that assisted was pleasant and I understand it was a busy time period and things happen. However, the lack of organization I witnessed while waiting and lack of professionalism and clearly training by staff was very frustrating. I've tolerated bad restaurant experiences before but for something that should've been so simple to become such a visible debacle in what should be an organized establishment was disheartening. If I was a dishonest person I'd have just walked out once they told me the first time to exit following the other group of individuals leaving. I just was not impressed at all with this place. I'll pay more next time and go elsewhere. As a senior retail manager I know the cost of good customer service...and the example they set definitely proved how all it takes is one time to mess up and loose a customer(s). Even 1 star is probably too much but it's the lowest rating allowed. read more

it's been probably 15 years or more since I've eaten at a golden coral and after eating at the one in Waynesboro , va. i'll never stop at one again. my wife and I stopped sunday july 22nd and had their breakfast buffet. the food was absolutely horrible and that's not the worst of it. we both got food poison to the point my wife was almost hospitalized. to make things worst we were traveling to my son's home to baby sit our grand twins for two weeks. this stop at golden coral made the first week a disaster.I normally do not do reviews but felt as a matter of public safety I needed to wright this one. ps: after looking at some of the reviews , I guess golden coral corporate office is use to this and really don't care. read more

Great variety of food being from out of town, the menu was different. Jackie was great at attending to my mom and I.

I used to eat there a few times when I first arrived in town. Then I had the unfortunate experience of finding some hairs in the beets I had placed on my plate. I spoke to the manager who was quite nice and gave me a card for a free dinner but I'll never return to Golden Corral again. As an afterthought he should have given me a full refund for my dinner, although it wasn't that much money. read more

Decent place to eat if you want to eat a lot but I wouldn't really recommend it. The food is sometimes really cold and you can tell it has set for a while. Also, if you enjoy eating corn with a fork this is the place for you cause obviously there is a spoon shortage. read more
