The worst experience at a flame broiler ever! I eat at different Flame broilers at least 3 times a week. The cashier was rude from the moment that I walked in. I ordered and paid for a soda along with my meal and it did not taste like Sprite but rather pure carbonation so I requested a refund. Apparently the cashier did it know how to refund me for the soda so she claimed to have refunded me the entire meal along with the soda and wanted me to repay for the meal again! My bank was not showing the refund so I questioned why she just didn't refund only the soda...which she could have done in cash. I will never patronize this business ever again!!!! read more

I asked her about this and she looked at me like it was my fault - she then said it will be $2 more which I already expected, but then charged me $2.15. While I was waiting to pay the lady in the kitchen was telling her in Spanish to make sure to charge me for it (I understand some Spanish). In the meantime my husband already got his plate while mine took forever to cook. When mine was ready the lady in the kitchen came out to give it to me and was speaking English with me. If she knows English then why wasn't she helping the girl in the front when she was taking our order?! Both of our orders came out dry with no sauce (you have to ask for them) and when I did the lady from the kitchen gave me a look and said "how many did you get already?" I told her none - so that made it okay? She was ready to charge me. Once I took a bite I was disgusted. The chicken did not look like white meat (breast) and had an awful freezer burn taste --nasty! Immediate NO! I ended up only eating my rice. I can still taste the nasty after-taste and it's absolutely disgusting! I'm a supporter of independent and small businesses but I do not recommend this location based on service and food quality! I visited on 12/26 and purchased a bowl with half and half spicy Korean chicken and the steak with a second order of three of the char wings. I wanted the protein with a base of veggies, which seemed to be an option. I asked for veggies several times and the cashier repeated "rice?" a few times as well and in the confusion I received a bowl with rice and vegetables as a base. That was the first disappointment. The next disappointment was after I ordered, a gentleman came in and ordered and I heard her ask if he wanted "cebolla" on top, which is one of their signature additions (onions). That was not offered to me and if I didn't know Spanish, I wouldn't have noticed something was offered to the other person that wasn't offered to me. The food was literally okay. It would not being me back, HOWEVER, the next and last disappointment: The chicken in bowl tasted old. I did not finish it and ate around it. The chicken of the wings tasted old and spoiled. That was not finished either after a few bites I would never come back here. I had been a loyal customer for years. They used to have a card based rewards system. I had earned enough for a free bowl, which now, are extremely expensive. I went in to redeem the bowl I had earned and was denied. They switched to an app based rewards system program. Most stores that value loyal customers would have converted the cards to points. This store decided to take the path that new customers are better than old ones. With the extremely high prices at Flame Broiler in Los Alamitos, and the empty lot and store, maybe they should have honored the card that maybe cost them $3 coat and kept a customer. The establishment prided itself in organic healthy food and had marketing everywhere but I wasn't really sold. We opted for the organic tofu brown rice bowl with veggies. This is the second time I come here and they try and talk me out of getting Tofu. The first time it was later in the night, the cashier said "only chicken or beef, the tofu takes to long to cook and we're closing soon" so I walked out because I'm a vegetarian of 12 years and wasn't going to break that. But this time it was today around 5pm dinner time. I decided to give it a second try and got the response of "It's going to take 10 minutes are you sure you want to wait?" but her English wasn't so well so I just responded with "What?" and she just asked if I wanted anything else. While the food was being done I was thinking about what she was trying to say and realized she was trying to get me to get something other than the Tofu again. The food was done in less than 10min so I'm guessing they just prep a bunch of meat and don't want to make anything else than what's already made. Listen I'm not one to complain about food places, but when something really bugs me, I feel the need to speak out. That way others don't have to deal with crappy service. So I've been coming to this flame broiler for years since it's near my work. The food and the additional sauces make it a decent lunch. There's a white lady who works there and is the nicest and most hardworking person there. Always answers the phone and helps out where she can (as far as I can see). Today we had another lady who was Hispanic, she was very rude when I asked for an additional sauce. She told me in a condescending way that any more sauces than 3 is extra and that this isn't an old rule. I basically said "ok no worries, not trying to argue here". She then proceeded to say "you come here all the time? Who gives you the sauces???" I was caught off guard with that statement that I blurted out the nice white lady to be honest. The Hispanic lady then proceeded to say "oh I'll have a word with her and make sure that doesn't happen again"... I said "no that's not necessary". The Hispanic lady said with a malicious smile "no I will talk to her" I hope the nice white lady gets a promotion, owns the place and gives that rude person the boot. read more

Every time we come here the staff is consistently rude. They don't greet you at the door, and the card reader tries to trick you into tipping. They actually put duct tape on the card reader to cover the no tip option. They gave people who came at least 5 minutes after me their food before me, even though they ordered basically the same thing as I did. They are also very stingy with extra sauces. read more

I went back to work, and after a few bites in I noticed a dead maggot. I called the restaurant immediately after and the lady told me to come back. I looked at her and said "mmm no, that's a maggot" and she still insisted that it was a piece of cabbage and spoke to me as if I didn't know what I was talking about. I love Flame Broiler food. It's about as healthy and filling as fast food gets. Most of the bad reviews I see on here are about bad service, but I've never had bad service from this location. A friend suggested Flame Broiler for lunch and the food was just what we wanted. The protein really does get a great charred flavor to it, and is served over your choice of rice (white or brown) with veggies and green onions. The mini bowl was a perfect lunch portion and prices are reasonable. Customer service is lacking, though. On our visit the soda/water machine wasn't working properly. When I went to the counter to ask for water because none was available in the machine. The woman behind the counter told me to use the machine and when I exploded it wasn't working told me I must be using it wrong. After I insisted that the machine was broken she finally came out to test it, but made no apologies nor attempt to fix my drink problem. I eventually had to ask for a bottled water. They eventually refunded the money for our drinks, which was nice but too little too late. read more

This place is my go to place that is close to home and food never misses the spot. It's an asian fusion-rice bowl- kinda spot. I always order the chicken bowl or the plate, depending on my appetite. You have options between brown and white rice, protein, some toppings, and there are 4-5 sauces for you to choose from at the condiment bar. Service is very quick. You obviously have no regard for your health if you are smoking. After entering the store, another customer and I waited and waited and waited to be served. The cook was walking back and forth in the kitchen. He finally came out to take my order. English wasn't very good so no idea if he understood my order. The smoker finally came in, didn't wash her hands after her smoke break, and proceeded to carry on her duties. She yelled at 2 young women "you need a mask to come in here!". Flame Broiler is a very simple affair for all who have been there already know. This is a great spot for lunch and especially if you are trying to watch your calories and have started dieting. This location is always clean & the service is generally fairly quick, they always make sure to greet you as well when you come in. It is really hard to mess up at this chain, but I can say I have been to the one off of Spring St. in Long Beach and that one always makes me feel sick, and it is not the most sanitary location. So between the 4 different local ones that I have been to, this one is a great location and I have never had an issue. Just a side note... I know people LOVE The magic sauce but if you are truly trying to watch your weight you should really pass on using it. It is extremely high in sodium & sugar content and basically blows the entire purpose of eating a healthy meal... If you are not into the hot sauce which is a good low cal option (But generally very high in sodium as well) they do have an Italian dressing that they keep behind the counter. This place just opened and it's in the same parking lot as Rite Aid and Great Dane Baking company. It's easier access to here via Northbound Los Alamitos but if you are lame like me, you can make a left at the light (Farquhar) and make another left at the 1st alleyway. I came here because the local Cypress paper had a buy one get one free deal. The quality was fresh but I have to say as for value, it was still expensive for what you get.
