Always a solid choice for lunch. You can't beat their lunch specials. All include soup, salad, an egg roll and entree. Sha cha chicken was super flavorful. The shrimp and broccoli was okay, it was mildly flavored but the broccoli was cooked to perfection - really large pieces with a slight crunch/not over cooked...I will try the garlic shrimp next time... the soup was hot and hot the spot. I want to start off by saying the food is good. It's a nice spot, but the customer service is terrible. I came in for a visit today to have dinner. The food quality was good. Service was a little slow. I spent a total of $70. I didn't feel the need to leave a tip as I was underwhelmed with the customer service after paying I got up from my chair and started walking out to find myself being chased by one of the servers that wasn't even mine she stated that I needed to leave a tip that it was unacceptable that I did not tip and that if I didn't tip, I would not be welcome back to the restaurant to buy anything. This is very unacceptable and unprofessional behavior and I hope to hear from management in regards to this matter if they are so worried about a tip, they should offer better service better service usually equals a tip will not be returning. read more

Pros: Good food, fair pricing, clean dining room. Cons: Chopsticks are only provided upon request. Can get loud, service is not warm and inviting. It feels like they just want high turn over and not interested in ensuring that customers feel welcomed. With all that said, we still come back periodically. What a very cool place that a person that I work with took me to. I had no idea this place even existed where I live, which is in Ventura County. I am so glad they recommended us to eat here today because the food was absolutely amazing. The orange chicken that I had was probably the best orange chicken I've ever had in my entire life and I've eaten a lot of orange chicken. The service was absolutely amazing. They've got that thing running like a well oiled machine. So many people doing different things, but when it comes down to it, you are not waiting very long for service at all. The place is super clean. I'll be it very crowded but then again their pricing of their food is spectacular and their food is amazing so therefore I'm not gonna fault them for the fact that the place was crowded. We only had to wait 15 minutes and before you know it, we were sitting down and already eating within I would say another additional 10 minutes. This is a nice Chinese restaurant that is modern looking that has 15-16 tables. Prices were reasonable and the service was so so which makes it consistent to a typical Chinese restaurant. This was my first time dining at Fortune Cookies Restaurant, and I will not be back. I came in with my mom around 6pm on a Wednesday. They were somewhat busy, but the host stand was kinda curt and uninviting. Our server was fine. He was quick to take our order and was polite. The food came out pretty quickly, was hot, but honestly, pretty tasteless. I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce. There was no seafood taste to the sauce as one might expect, given the name. It was more like an egg drop soup. I'm unfamiliar with lobster sauce, so honestly, I'm not sure how it's supposed to taste. The sauce was definitely watery, and according to the description was supposed to have water chestnuts. I love water chestnuts, so to see them clearly missing was a disappointment. Also, I think mine had some egg shell mixed in. Yummm... My mom ordered Mongolian beef. When I asked how she liked it, the first words out of her mouth were, "Pick Up Stix is better". Both dishes did come with a small side of white or brown rice, so that was a plus. The pictures on the menu lead you to believe that all the dishes are à la cart. I did get a side of GF shrimp fried rice for lunch the next day. Hopefully that tastes pretty decent. Guess I'll find out tomorrow. We stopped in since they offer GF dishes, and we're in the area, but this place was such a disappointment. We do not see ourselves coming back at all while in the Seal Beach/Los Alamitos area. My Family comes here often, always tell me about it all the time, I hadn't been here so I thought is give it a try. Love the orange chicken and the sweet and sour chicken, everything overall is good. However, the reason why I give it 3 out of 5 is because of the service. The server looks miserable like she doesn't wanna be there and she hardly came to our table to check on us, I also don't like it when people hand you food like "here" kinda of attitude. Despite my very negative previous review, my mom loves Fortune Cookie so we are still customers. We are cautious and double check when ordering food without garlic. I have mixed feelings about calories listed in the menu. Today was the first time we've eaten there post pandemic. They have good lunch specials for on average $12. Comes with - -choice of hot & sour or egg flower soup -vegetable egg roll -brown or white rice -salad Brown rice is not extra. The egg flower soup is still good but slightly sweet, as is the salad dressing. We asked for tea but wasn't told it's $4 extra. Now I know it's floral which I don't like. Service is quick even when it's mostly full for Saturday late lunch. The interior is nice and some tables have space extenders. Bathrooms are clean but signs say not to flush paper products INCLUDING TOILET paper. I'm sorry but that's unsanitary. Sounds like someone needs updated plumbing. This place is our go to for Chinese takeout. We have also dined in and it was a good experience. It's closer to authentic Chinese than most places and the servers I've seen are mostly Chinese too. The service is quick and efficient, and I can't really complain. The prices are very affordable and the portions are generous. Each dish comes with a side of rice unless you're getting actual fried rice or noodles. I recommend the lo mein, beef broccoli, and the house fried rice. All very flavorful and tasty. Price up from $13.99 to $14.50. Chicken Lo Mein; Not bad but again the chicken was tough and strange. Price up from $11.59 to something over $13.00. Their new rent must be higher or conveniently using greed in play.
