I had scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, ham, and avocado. The biggest food complement you can gauge from me is by how fast I eat something. I can tell you my plate was clean in a minute. I just ate here for the first time. It was a great place to visit, friendly staff and really great food! The only thing I didn't like was waiting 45 minutes to be seated, but even though they close at one we were not made to feel like we needed to leave. We enjoyed our leisurely lunch and stayed a while to talk! The cook forgot the Avocado in the Avocado salad, but that was rectified and an apology was served along with the food! Arrived at 8:45 am on Saturday. We were finally seated at 9:30. Our orders were promptly taken after seating, but we weren't served until 10:15. The pancakes, eggs, hash browns and bacon were very tasty. Be sure to ask for their homemade salsa - delicious! The wait staff was very attentive, but not overbearing. We really enjoyed our interactions with them. Overall, the food and wait staff was very good, but I have too many options for a good breakfast to wait an hour and a half to eat. Flipping sucks. It's a weird location - it looks like an office building inside. The server was a nice guy, but he was rushy and that set the tone quick. My mom and I went there for breakfast and we were very disappointed. The portions were measly and we both couldn't help but laugh at how it all tasted. Caveat Emptor!! The arrogant hostess has made seating all about her...regardless of the customer's needs. My fiancée, her elderly (87 year old) crippled father and I entered and were ushered to a table squeezed between two others. We decided that har dad would have a difficult time sitting there, we move to a "better" table about 10 feet away. The rude little hostess rushed over to tell us she "needed" us at the other table. When I told her that we needed "this" table she reiterated she NEEDED us at the other table. Well, I believe that most folks would have left the establishment at this time (as I would have done had I been by myself) but, because my fiancée is non confrontational, we moved ate and left. That is my last time eating there. Many more places in Abilene that treat their customers like valued guests instead of a dollar sign to be pushed around at the hostess' whim. BTW, we were regulars there including Chamber Committee breakfasts and personal dining. Never again. Should have known with the 20 or so cars outside this tiny place to just keep moving. But I'd passed it so many times I wanted to try, so the kids and I went for breakfast on a Saturday. 20 or more minute wait then we finally got seated and, after another 5 minutes of waiting to even see our waitress (which should have been my cue to leave) I finally get to place an order for a coffee and two milks, one if them chocolate, which might have been too much to handle for her. By the time we finally got our drinks and menus, after another 10 minutes, 2 other tables were seated. Add another 10-15 for the waitress to come back. I kid you not- the others were served, finished, and were up leaving or getting their bill by the time we finally got our food, 30 minutes since we ordered. I had to finally flag another waitress down to get ours to wake up from her trance and finally bring us our order, which I suspect was never entered until then. Food was average. And definite not worth the wait and crummy service. IHOP has the same stars this place does, has better service and quicker turnaround. An hour in the place before I get eggs and pancakes?? I have eaten here in the past and the food is average or better however today the service was none existent. We were seated for 10 minutes before a waitress asked for our drinks. We placed our food order at the same time. 20 minutes later we noticed people that were seated after us were eating. We asked the maitre d and she said they were working on it. 10 minutes later the Manager came to our table and said our order had just been placed. He offered to comp our order but we didn't want to continue to wait and left. So if you want average food and have lots of time to waste you can go to The Flipping Egg. I got the normal breakfast. It was gross. The waitress treated us like we were a bother. She got my order wrong too. The shredded potatoes were mushy and cold. Everything else was only slightly warm. Not worth the money. The coffee was watered down. I ended up sending my food back- i didn't eat pretty much all of it- and they were mad because I didn't want to pay for a meal I didn't eat. The flipping egg was a flipping disappointment. Walked in with my 4 year old and infant sons for breakfast. We were seated right away. However it took nearly ten minutes before the waitress noticed she had a new table. We ordered the food and it was okay. Just okay. Nothing great about it. It was filling and tasted like breakfast. The buttermilk pancakes didn't taste anything like buttermilk pancakes, they were pretty boring so was the sausage. Also the table of ten city workers in blue polo shirts and tan pants cussing and talking about women and their wild weekend was a complete turn off as I ate breakfast with my children. Also there was zero background music. So all you heard was these jerks conversation and had nothing to focus on except the slow service. Horrible customer service!! There was an entire lobby full of people including a party of four. A party of five came in after me and was sat almost immediately. After I doke to the hostess ( big parties get sat first) I left and called the manager "Tammy". She stated that how could I know what was appropriate since I have never ran a restaurant (which I have). I told her that this was a horrible thing to say to an angry customer.
