Haven't had the best experience talking to anyone in the "sales" department after spending thousands... i mean thousands in A 9 day period .... I don't like a patronizing tone of voice or being told to hold on because I speak too quickly for a small mind to grasp. They sound super down and unimpressed especially if you ask questions. I've ordered additional supplies and BOTH times (after I paid) the store clerks neglected to call me to let me know the items arrived... I mean dayyysss went by. Yea , I'll def call a store to check on an item I purchased but the store should also contact the paying customer when a shipment arrives particularly When I've Paid That's YOUR responsibility. My husband and I went to the floor store to look at the wood flooring and carpet finishes. It is nice to be able to compare them side by side and look at the colors and feel the textures in a space where you can lay the samples out. Michael Watts was very helpful and knowledgeable and shared his expertise with us and explained installation options and provided as many quotes as we asked for materials and labor. He allowed us to borrow the samples for a few days to see them in our space which was great and very important in making decisions. Came into the store once to get all the paperwork done, installers came in and got the 300 ft^2 job done within a few hours, and payment was completed without needing to come into the store again. We wanted to replace carpet with flooring that matched the rest of the house- David walked us through all the options, followed up with every request/concern to make sure we got what we needed. We needed 2 sets of stairs and opted for white risers so that the new flooring would blend better with the old, David's suggestion. He was thoughtful about our timeline and worked hard so that we could get the job done as soon as possible and didn't try to push us out of our budget. We had to paint the riser boards ourselves (they came primed but without paint) but it was worth doing because their overall price was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than their local competitors (who also weren't as transparent/knowledgable about the product/process). We were concerned about noise- the competitor said padding was already installed but David told me that there was an additional padding option, which was a little extra $, so we got that too- worth every penny. Our new floors are 100x quieter than our old. The guys that came to do the install worked quickly and efficiently and were super kind and respectful. We needed to replace flooring in a rental unit. We haven't done a remodel for many years and the options can be overwhelming. I took the chance and went to this location/Emeryville and was pleasantly happy the minute I walked in. A new pleasant sales agent named Angel approached me right away. It took me less than 1/2 hr. and decided with his help what rug I wanted. He lead me to the counter where the manager, David Shipero made an appointment to come measure my home. After getting a few bids from flooring companies to replace the hardwood and carpet in our home we decided to go with the floor store in Richmond. The other flooring competitor came in THOUSANDS of dollars higher for the same scope of work, exact same wood, and exact same carpet ...and also said our home was 'not an easy project' because of the amount of demo, stairs, appliances, furniture to move, etc. etc. David the store manager from the Floor Store made no mention of any challenges was super easy to work with and best of all gave us a VERY competitive price. Additionally, we were able to start the job in approximately 2 weeks. The installers Angel Cordon and his other colleague (forgot his name) were excellent. They were very professional, came on time, and finished the whole project earlier then anticipated. They always cleaned up after themselves, moved all of our furniture & appliances back, and even repaired some damaged baseboards. Everyday I would get a phone call from Angel letting me know what was completed that day and what they will work on tomorrow. The installation came out beautiful and we are super happy with the finished product. The first time I wandered in here, they didn't think I was worth bothering with. No one even greeted me or offered to answer any questions. I did eventually get 1 guy who answered a few questions ... but his attitude was of humoring a small child rather than providing service to a potential customer. I did the math in my head and despite the poor service, figured this place was a pretty good deal. I visited again the next day with boyfriend in tow. We studied the tile and the carpet and since he's knowledgeable in a lot of this stuff, I figured at least he would answer my questions. This time, Bill greeted us, was very helpful without being pushy. I ended up ordering new carpet for my entire place and 4 boxes of ceramic tile for my master bathroom. Bill made me a good deal and was on top of his stuff. While I cannot yet speak to the quality of the installation (will update soon), Bill was a great sales associate - helpful, friendly and efficient. Every woman has experienced a guy who treated her as subhuman because he didn't find her attractive. That was 100% the vibe I got from the person I dealt with in this store. Weirdly condescending and dismissive. For reference, this was the third such store I was checking out today. In the other two, I was helped - the associates did their best to help me find a match for the sample I brought in. No such case here. Dude, we are not at a bar, you don't have to be attracted to me to do your job - your job which is literally to help me, not chitchat with your coworkers. I left feeling slimey and gross. Review is overdue, in January we had the floor store in Richmond replace the flooring in my entire home minus our bathroom and wow they did a great job. We spoke with Brian a floor sales associate at this location and he is very knowledgeable, friendly and honest. The process was smooth from top to bottom. The floor installers were top knotch they sent us Oscar and his team to remove the existing carpet and put in new Mohawk Revwood Plus flooring and new baseboards. They were professional and followed all covid 19 protocols. They explained the whole process and were very careful with moving our furniture, appliances etc. We thought it would be very inconvenient to have new floors done but they made the process a breeze. I (chris) recently had the san rafael floor store install new carpets in my condo in the meadows in terra linda....Anthony a newer Floor Store employee and former Coloradan, assisted me with the carpet selection process, and helped me make a good choice, including a warm and neutral color for my rental condo, and the new resident loves the carpets...,,,,, so far things are great....unfortunately there was a bump in the new carpet after the install, maybe a piece of old padding, or whatever. Anthony and store manager Tom, came to my rescue and made personal assurances to me (that the carpet will get fixed) and followed through and had the installer call me and we're scheduled to meet and have the dreaded padding bump removed next week! I' m happy as a clam and will have Anthony help me with my next interior floor project, which will be a little trickier. I want a hardwood floor runway with a custom configuration cut into to my existing Karistan carpets ( which were also purchased at the Floor Store, 5-6 years ago) adjacent to the two sliding glass doors leading to my backyard from my master bedroom...,...stay tuned for that review! If I could give this company no stars I would. I used them to place flooring on a home that I was selling. After they installed linoleum in my kitchen I felt like my kitchen looked worse off then when it started. They tucked the Linoleum under my back door making it impossible to open. They came back to fix the issue, however the door threshold was bent and I had to replace it in order to return the door to how it was prior to their service. All the quarter round pieces below my cabinets were removed and not replaced and the linoleum was not glued down in certain areas. In addition they used duct tape on my wood flooring that removed the upper layer of varnish. My attempts to color in the removal with a stain pen helped the situation but I am still left with discoloration on my wood floors from their work. Price was high and work was awful. I will never shop here again. read more
