Finally got to try this post in person for Brunch. We were seated at an outside table immediately. After a long internal debate I settled on the Freebird Benedict (Split biscuit topped with crispy buttermilk chicken tenders, two over-medium eggs, chicken sausage gravy and drizzled with syrup, served with creamy dreamy grits) and my wife had the Mini Shrimp & Grits (Creamy dreamy white cheddar cheese grits topped with blackened shrimp, roasted red pepper tomato sauce and fresh basil. Served wtih a fluffy flying biscuit). After a reasonable wait our orders arrived. I had requested my eggs fried hard instead of medium and they were perfect. It was hard to get everything loaded on the biscuit in one bite there was so much. Regardless, I had no problem finishing it off (minus a few bites stolen by my wife) and making my plate spotless. In exchange I was able to try a taste of her Shrimp & Grits. They were different from many versions that we have tried before but still good. They really didn't fit the typical New Orleans or Low Country style. I can't not mention the Biscuits from a place that has Biscuit in the name. Super Fluffy and the Cranberry Apple Butter is delicious. So good that my wife had actually considered just getting a side of biscuits and a side of the grits. Server was attentive throughout. We previously had picked up for take out. I ordered the Piedmont Omelette (Three eggs, signature chicken sage sausage, crispy all-natural nitrate free applewood bacon, onions and yellow cheddar cheese served with creamy dreamy grits and a fluffy flying biscuit) and my wife chose the Chicken Cobb Salad (Chopped romaine topped with crispy buttermilk chicken, bacon, white cheddar cheese, hard boiled egg and diced tomato. This spot is consistently great! I love the big menu, something for everyone. We were initially attracted to the menu having vegan items for a good friend of ours, but now we keep coming back. Staff is very helpful and friendly even when the place is buzzing. Love that you check in on Yelp for a shorter wait time. The menu has a good mix of Tex-Mex, and southern dishes, with a lot of unique combinations. There's truly something to suit everyone! I'm a sucker for breakfast and have yet to order off the lunch side of the menu, but it looks amazing so I really should. Myself and everyone I've visited with have all loved our choice of dishes. Overall they've managed covid measures with grace. Everyone living in the 280 area should have this on their brunch regular rotation (and maybe more beyond the local area), though selfishly I don't want it to get so busy that you're waiting extremely long for a table. I have been to many flying biscuit locations, and this seems to be the best one! It is extremely popular, but they always have quick service. I recommend the Hangover Hash dish, it is very filling. It is probably my favorite brunch meal with a downpour of queso on top of seasoned potatoes, chicken chorizo, fried chicken, black bean salsa, and eggs of your choice. It is also served with a biscuit on the side. The restaurant has many bright colors and is very fun to look at! They usually have upbeat music playing, which I always find fun. We came on a Saturday afternoon it was packed which I was expecting. We checked in and was told it would be a 45min wait. We decided to just hang out in our cars until we got a text our table was ready. Once I noticed people after us were going in I checked with the hostess and she said that they had already text us which I never received. They said something may have been up with their machines. I assumed they just didn't enter my phone number in correctly because other people did get a notification but nonetheless we were seated. The servers and everyone was nice and seemed knowledgeable. The food was okay, nothing really stood out to me. My husband got the peach cobbler waffles I got a breakfast platter with French toast. The jam with the biscuit was pretty good. The restaurant itself is huge and they have a patio area with a garage door that can be opened up to the outside. They also have a little bar area with a television if you wanted to eat/drink there as well. We were seated as soon as we arrived. There menu has breakfast and lunch items. I got the Chorizo Hash and a mimosa flight. My food was delicious, but it was Luke warm, almost cool. My breakfast came with one of their famous biscuits on the side. It was pretty good too. Every time I go to Flying Biscuit Cafe, I always love it! I typically go early in the morning on weekdays, so it's not too crowded. This particular time, I went with my boyfriend on a Tuesday morning. I ordered the GA Peaches and Creme Waffle with a side of chicken sausage, eggs, and potatoes, and he ordered the Dirty Bird Waffle with a side of grits. We both also shared an appetizer of shrimp and grits. Our food came to the table in a decent amount of time, and the server was pretty good. They did make a mistake and gave me grits instead of potatoes, but it was a quick fix. They shortly brought out the right side and allowed me to keep the grits. I really enjoyed my food, but I didn't really care too much for my boyfriend's food, but he enjoyed it though. I also like how everything comes with a biscuit, even though I can never finish it since we already have too much food that comes with a single order. My husband and I love eating at the flying biscuit. We know that the wait times can be long, but we decided to risk it. We arrived on Sunday at about 12:45. The wait was only 15-20 minutes. I love that they have a live waitlist on yelp that is accurate and keeps up with the time. We got seated right at 20 minutes. We ordered, and the food was out within 10 minutes. I came to Birmingham to visit Rock City Church and decided to grab something to eat before the service. First off, the food at Flying Biscuit Café was excellent--truly exceptional. The service was top-notch too! A special shout-out to Elyse, our warm and friendly server. Although my lunch date and I sat outside after a brief wait to be seated (Sundays are busy here!), we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When I went indoors to use their restroom, I found it very clean, and the hostesses were friendly as well. To conclude my weekend in Birmingham I had to get some brunch and mimosas and after hearing about it for so long I finally went to The Flying Biscuit. No matter where you are or the location, on a Sunday this place is ALWAYS packed so my advice, make a reservation ahead of time or be prepared to wait like we did. The wait was only about 10-15 mins which wasn't bad given how packed it was. We were seated outside with amazing shade so there was no complaints there. We went straight into ordering mimosas and ordering our food. Starting with a half Mimosa pitcher with peach juice to go with the champagne ($15) and I ordered the Hot Dirty Bird which is a house made golden waffle topped with hot chicken tenders (3) and chicken sausage gravy ($16). It normally comes with two medium eggs as well but I asked for them to be taken off. The wait for the food wasn't long at all plus the mimosas kept us company which by the way did what they were suppose to do so don't sleep on them lol. By the time the food came out I was lit and ready to eat. The Hot Dirty Bird definitely is something I'd come back and order. Amazing. The waffle was cooked just right. Wasn't too soft and wasn't too hard either to where cutting it would be a task. With the chicken and gravy on top all you do is add some syrup and *chefs kiss. The gravy is season and not bland and the chicken is as well with just enough crunch too. Although I felt like it was just hot sauce on the chicken tenders, I did not care. Either way it was good and I'd order it again lol I HIGHLY recommend The Flying Biscuit not only for brunch but anytime of the day. Good food for sure. I'll definitely be going back. read more

The biscuit was fluffy and had sugar on the top which was an interesting combo, but I can see why it's in the name; although I was half hoping that they would throw the biscuits because of the name ;). The coffee has a nice flavor and they had International Delight creamers on the table which was a huge plus. Our waiter ended up bringing the toast even though I subbed the potatoes, and my husband said the toast was great. The quesadillas were on another level. The chicken was fried and crispy. The cheese was stringy and stretchy. The quesadillas came with a side of grits. My husband raved about the quesadillas the entire meal. I had a bite and I agreed with his thoughts. Their food was tasty, but be aware, the Hot Honey Chicken Waffle is NOT hot, as in temperature. It has a spicy, honey sauce. Flavored like buffalo chicken! Came here for dinner during the week. We were excited to try it after reading all the reviews. The decor in here is so bright and inviting you can't help but smile when you walk in. We were given a large booth despite thre fact that there was only two of us so that was nice. We were immediately surprised that they serve alcohol. So we had to try the drinks. I had All My ex's Live in Texas. It was like an adult iced tea. It was very good. For dinner hubby ordered biscuits and gravy and I got the chicken pot pie. Hubbys came out on a small plate with a small bowl on top of it. It looked more like a side dish than a meal. He said it was okay but he wouldn't get it again. My dinner came out looking less than fresh. It was obvious to me that it had been sitting in a pot all day and then was poured over two biscuits. I ate it but definitely would not order again. I think the thing to do is to come at breakfast time or if you are coming after breakfast order something you know they have to make fresh like a burger.
