Wow, what a treat!! Was in town for work and our fellow coworkers in the area suggested we check out The Foundry for dinner! The 3 of us made the trek over in Manchester's first snow from our hotel around the corner. The huge sign on top of the old warehouse made it pretty easy to find. We enter the converted warehouse and step foot into this gorgeous renovated space, very open floor plan, decorations as you'd expect at a farm-to-table restaurant, plus they were all decked out for Xmas to boot! The place was pretty empty so we were quickly sat and a nice booth right next to the window overlooking the water. Their cocktail menu had us taking forever to decide but I ended up with the Maple Old Fashioned, my coworkers got some other bourbon drinks. The menu looked incredible and then our server told us the specials so that didn't help make the decision any easier lol. We did all get the pumpkin bisque though that was so thick it practically stuck to the bowl so that warmed us right up on that cold night! I ended up getting the skirt steak special which came with romanesco broccoli, a potato gratin sort of thing, and some sort of warm salad underneath the steak. Oh my gosh it was so good and cooked to perfection! It was a TON of food though and I was only able to eat half of it. One coworker had the pan seared salmon and the other had the chicken and dumplings, which they both enjoyed as well. We did get an order of brussel sprouts as well and man that was so huge, it could've been its own meal! The smokey glaze and the pistachios (I think that's the nut they were) were so good on the sprouts! I was completely stuffed at this point, not even able to finish my yummy meal lol, but my coworkers got a creme brulee so I did try that and it was as equally delicious as everything else! I did try another tequila based drink that was too sweet for my liking so after that one, I went back to the maple old fashioned which was definitely way more up my alley! Our server was very nice but I don't know if she was bored or because the restaurant was empty while we were there, but she definitely bugged us a little more than we would have liked lol. My one coworker isn't a huge drinker and was just slowly consuming her drink, not even 1/4 of it was gone and our server kept asking her if she wanted another one. We're like uhhh her drink is still full? lol. The server was totally nice in every way, it was just a tiny bit irritating. We went to the fairly new Foundry in Manchester. Love the old mill space, water view, and concept. Service was excellent and the communicated with us very well regarding the wait to get seated. They have a system to text us when our table was great which was cool. I liked the menu- mostly farm to table concept. Most everyone enjoyed their meals- for the most part. I started with the fried brussel spouts which I thought were overdone and greasy. Overly sweet and sauced. The risotto with short rib was just eh. Very bland and not seasoned well. Sunday Brunch was stellar in quality and quantity! I can't think of a type of brunch food that was not on their laden tables: from the normal made-to-order omelettes, local bacon and sausage, corn beef hash, to the handcut beef, to the seafood bar with oysters, shrimp, mussels and smoked salmon . . . to the meat falling off the bone ribs . . . and chicken wings . . . and french toast . . . and salads . . . and then the breads and dessert table. No detail is spared: even the whipped butter is piped into shapes. I had no room for dessert, except for one mini buttery almond flour cookie/tea cake. It was perfect in texture and loaded with almond flavor and density. At about $27 pp (no alcohol), this was a great brunch. read more

The Foundry is nestled in the corner of the Manchester Millyard and resides in the old Jillian's location. It is owned by renowned inventor Dean Kamen, who obviously didn't spare any expense in revamping the entire space and infusing it with a metallurgy theme. Everything is copper and earth toned, large antique sprockets pepper the restaurant, table lights are suspended from dark chains, and even the bathroom sinks mimic old wash basins with antique spouts (picture attached). It's a classy looking space. I was on the run last night, so I couldn't stay for an entire entree, but I had the Blue Cheese Stuffed Dates with a glass of Allagash Curieux, which they keep on tap. First, Allagash Curieux... on tap! That's a wonderful thing and it will keep me coming back. Second -and this is not hyperbole- the stuffed dates appetizer is one of the best dishes I've ever tasted in a restaurant. When I ordered the stuffed dates, I was expecting cold blue cheese stuffed into a room temperature date with a few seasonings sprinkled over it. Instead, what I received was a date wrapped in lightly smoked maple bacon and injected with some hedonistically delicious creamed blue cheese -that hardly tasted like its namesake- and the whole thing is sautéed. I detected hints of honey in the mix, but I'm not sure if that's actually the case. It's an incredibly well balanced sweet-and-salty experience that is worth your time and money. The Foundry left a fantastic first impression on me and I look forward to further exploring their menu. read more

The Sunday brunch is where it's at. We went in September. Made reservations on open table. Super easy to get seated. The deck is spacious and the weather was prefect. Our server was Katie (what a doll). The buffet is back which was fantastic. There was a policy that the staff had to serve you, which was fine. But there were not enough servers and you did have to wait. #covidproblems They not only have a large selection of food from an omelet station to desert fresh donuts with gummy worms. They also have a large array of adult beverages. We had the expresso martini, peach/raspberry and regular mimosas. We had so much fun. The atmosphere is chill with an energized feel. People were in sweat pants, to their best outfits. Seemed to be judgement free. Highly recommend. They also have a parking garage in front of the building, which I really like because I like to wear heels and don't want to walk 4 blocks to go eat. read more

My husband and I went here for the first time on Valentine's Day. Loved the atmosphere/ambiance. Beautiful brick accents and soft lighting. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. The food was amazing. I got the lobster ravioli (I was told it's a new menu item and I hope they keep it) and it was full of flavor. Loved the lemon cream sauce and the Dunks local mushrooms. My husband got the scallops and he said it was delicious. The drink were a little pricey but very good as well. We will definitely be back! read more

Hey all I sure that I am not the only one. But was recently there on Friday night and sat at the bar ordered a dirty martini and the bartender filled my drink just above halfway which I was totally shocked because they were also charging three dollars more than a couple weeks ago. So I said something to the bartender and she came over and gave me just a sip more with an attitude, which still didn't even get it to 3/4 she said our Marino glasses are bigger when in fact they look smaller but at minimum the same in ounces as all other restaurants. I didn't dare try their food because the last time we were there it had gone downhill and up on price. So I talked to the manager manager and he just looked at me like I had two heads, and we left. We will never go back to that restaurant again. Going up on price is one thing but giving me half a drink was another- pure greed!!!!!! read more

Excellent location for private party/event! We had our recent rehearsal dinner at The Foundry for about 30 people. Liz was so kind and accommodating throughout the planning process. We did a buffet option and the food from the salad to sides to carving station was delicious! Absolutely favorite was the assorted dessert display-they had a ton of treats from brownies to tiramisu cups and all of our guests were raving about it! The larger banquet room was perfect for our party, allowing for plenty of spacing which was something we were concerned about as it was most of our guests first time attending a gathering of this size recently. All staff wore masks and we were asked to wear them when moving about the room. I would definitely recommend as a function location! read more

Came in here with a few friends for dinner before hitting up some of the bars in Manchester. Nice ambiance in the place and apparently everything is locally sourced. To start I assembled a small charcuterie board of Camembert, fine meat, cranberries, candied nuts and an amazing local mustard. All of it was great albeit a bit pricey for the portion size. For my entree I had the braised pork shank....immaculate...just fall off the bone shredded porky deliciousness. The staff was attentive, neat, and it was an overall great experience. As a party of 6 on a busy Saturday night, The Foundry was accommodating when the majority of our party arrived late. Our waitress, Meghan, was attentive, friendly, and delightful. I had the spring green salad and butternut squash bisque. The spring greens were perfectly dressed and fresh. The bisque was rich but maintained the integrity of the flavor of the squash. Had dinner at your restaurant last night for the first time. Ambiance, beer selection and service were excellent. As a plant based eater it was nice to see a few options on the menu however the reasons for the low rating is this... It is unfortunate that some establishments want to up-charge for healthier more sustainable eaters. They are charging $22 for a "beyond burger" which is cheaper than most beef and has a much longer shelf life. Their normal beef burger is $14. Taking advantage of the newness of the plant based eaters is disappointing. read more

It's kind of dark inside, and industrial (per the name), not a warm atmosphere but tasteful. Menu ran the gambit from apps to expensive entrees. I came here for a Birthday Brunch. The ambience was modern, yet with a turn of the century open wood timber factory appearance. Our waitress was pleasant. The buffet was amazing, and fresh with plenty of options. I stuck with tbe lunch items, shrimp, oysters on half shell, carved prime rib roast, etc...My wife, and son had more of the typical breakfast items to include the make it your way omelet, which they commented was delicious. All was excellent, and worth the $30 per person cost. The fiery Bloody Mary was well presented, however it was not as flavorful as expected. Worst brunch I have ever had. The food had been sitting for a very long time and was not replenished over the 90 minutes we were there. What was available was soaked in grease. The staff were inattentive, yet beware, you will be charged an 18% gratuity for the buffet. Moreover, the hall where the buffet is kept was dirty, and the staff did not follow appropriate protocols for safe food handling. The omelette from the omelette station was inedible due to the amount of butter it was prepared in (and I'm a big fan of butter). This is the second time we have been here, The food was delicious and our waitress was on point. We were afraid that because it was Friday night (and I forgot to call ahead/make a table reservation),that we would have a long wait and service might be lacking but we got the total opposite. The floor manager Ken checked in with us to make sure that our seating was to our liking and after our meal to make sure everything was OK. We ordered wings for an appetizer, I got a drink (amazing!) and there was hot bread also. Hubby and I both got the ribeye steak, and it was cooked exactly to our liking. We splurged on dessert, which we ended up taking a few bites of and brought them home. We were stuffed! I can't say enough good about this place, the food is high-quality, the chefs know what they're doing and the staff is amazing. Tried this place out with the Haskells on a Saturday night. Made reservations online before hand & got seated right away. Place is inside a beautiful old mill building right near the Manchester Arena. Plenty of parking with a garage & a UNH building next door. PRO - HUGE appetizer menu. We split the steamed mussels & an order of the glazed roasted brussels sprouts. The plump mussels came with some french fries randomly thrown in, which I'd never seen before (but is mentioned on the menu) & the garlic aloi sauce on them was good. I'd get this again. Decent sized serving for sharing too. The glazed brussel sprouts were pretty much incinerated, really well cooked, but they were tasty even if they looked burnt. Mrs. H & I split an order of the gumbo seafood stew, which came with pieces of whole shrimp, lobster claws, mussels, sausage & scallops in a tasty broth over a small portion of rice. Was really good. Mr. H got himself a bowl of beef stew that came with two big slices of bread for dipping. He didn't even leave paint on that bowl. The craft beers were really good, the martinis were excellent & the wine menu is pretty good. We had a nice boozy night out. CON - Ward got the salmon, always his "go to" choice. He said the salmon piece was very small & it was in some kind of a "creamy sauce" he didn't care for. He felt for the money the amount of food wasn't worth it, even had he liked the sauce. We split the "Cookies & Milk" dessert. Thought it would be a couple of chocolate chip cookies with sauce & ice cream. It comes and it's a small square dish of chocolate chip (pie? Def not a cookie) with a tiny scoop of ice cream on top. Tasted fine, but for the price was underwhelming. It's HUGELY loud in the place. Big old open space in a mill. We lucked out with a quiet corner table, but be aware, not a quiet date night place. SO - While our food/booze/dessert selections didn't lead to a cheap night out, I overall liked the place as did the Haskells. Ward said he wouldn't want to go back.
