What is not to love. You have to see it to appreciate it. From the decor to the food And everyone is so welcoming... You can go in for a flatbread and a beer to a fine bottle of wine w/ a top-notch dinner. They batch their own cocktails, and their entries are one of a kind with a wonderful raw bar. It's always come highly recommended and it did not disappoint! From the cocktails to the appetizer to entree it was all very very good. The tequila concoction at the bar was not too sweet, but spicey and tart... called a Santeria rimmed in a spicey salt, very refreshing. I had the octopus appetizer which was sliced thinly and was served on top of some cut up new potatoes...dressed with a spicey mayo it was delightful. My entree was a salmon poke bowl that was put together with a very generous portion of salmon (tuna poke is also an option) accompanied by warm rice, cucumber, avocado, crispy fried shallots and the rest of the usual suspects. A thoroughly enjoyable meal!! The ambience is relaxing and tasteful while service was attentive but not cloying. I'll be back but if you haven't been put it on your bucket list. read more

Owner of this restaurant I hear owns Cadence nearby which I am not a big fan of their food so it took me a while to try this place... and I'm glad I did. Great ambiance and decor. Music was a little loud where we're raising our voice a bit and yet we're 2 feet apart. Tables aren't butt to butt which was nice. The fig and Burrata is probably the best I've ever had. Not too sweet. Bread wasn't overly toasted where it cuts your mouth. The rest of the food was all good... nothing that I would crave to get again but I'm glad I tried. Being a city slicker I have had all these flavors (except the chicken wings) before so if you've never had them I think this place would be a treat. Only got the apps and dessert this time so we'll see how the poke and entrees are next time. read more

This is a well put together restaurant. I didn't think much of it from the outside. But once I walked in...it blew my mind. The decor was exceptional and has a way of inviting you in. I love their setup. A side room for private events, a long bar right when you walk in(the bar even has pre-made cocktails) also the furnitures are classy and comfy! Now the food is a whole other review. Every bite was outstanding. It was beyond my expectations actually. The presentation of it was superb and the staff were so attentive and friendly. I cannot tell you how good the food was. Just go and try it yourself. I will for sure be returning and trying different plates cuz they all sounded amazing!! What a perfect location! Stopped by for brunch. Had the Chicken Shawarma Rolls, the Little Gem Salad with Salmon , and Mouse Carrot Cake for dessert. All dishes were excellent, plus there were many small plates I'd like to try on my next visit. The main restaurant seating area presents a pleasant atmosphere, and there is ample outdoor seating if guests prefer. My server was friendly, and the restaurant's manager was very attentive. I highly recommend Foxtail for brunch, lunch or dinner, or if you want to just stop in for a drink and small plate to share, while you're in Downers Grove. read more

We've now been several times to the Foxtail and are never disappointed. Our favorite is to go with a group and just share small plates. The kofta kabob and garlic labenah is a must. Their cocktails are also fantastic. Great for a fun night out. read more

Food was good. The portions were big (I had fish a bit overcooked- very dense, my friend had chicken). I was unsure about the menu at first, but everything tasted great. I had the poached pear salad with chicken and the mockingbird mocktail. Salad was a great serving size and the chicken was well seasoned. We also had the carrot cake for dessert, which was delicious. It's a smaller space, but super clean and well decorated. I visiting during Covid and, while the tables had sanitizer on them, the bar did not. They did not have contactless menus or payments. I did appreciate that the bar has power outlets as well as purse hangers. The decor is modern and clean. I did find the service lacking a bit. They were on the slow side although nothing offensively slow. He also tried to talk us out of getting a pizza that we wanted by saying that another one would go better with our app. While I appreciate suggestions always, I got the feeling they were low on ingredients and that was the real reason because why would we get an app and entree that had the exact same flavor profile? If that is the case (especially during Covid), we completely understand so just 86 that item. The cocktails were decent. I was struggling a bit to figure out what they're trying to be...was it Mediterranean? Middle Eastern? Sushi? One issue I had is that the poke bowls are actually cooked. I'm very glad our server told me this before I ordered it. That is quite strange. I was looking forward to one of them but I stayed away. They do have a raw bar and I got the hamachi, which was good. I thought the portion size of all of the dishes were perfect. We also tried the burrata and fig mostarda and I enjoyed that but it wasn't spectacular. Lastly we got the zaatar pizza. While I loved the dough and the toppings, the flavor seemed a bit off and didn't taste like zaatar to me. It really tasted like oregano, which isn't even typical in zaatar. Strolled in here Sunday evening after walking around the Downers Grove festival. We were happy we did - the food was really good. East coast oysters were fantastic, the hamachi was really really good, and the bacon wrapped pork chops amazing! Finished things off with the double mousse carrot cake which was again phenomenal - especially the cream cheese mousse. I normally don't eat sweets but had to get a taste (carrot cake was one my favorites). This place was great. Very nice atmosphere, has very tall ceilings so the place feels big and airy. We had a fantastic waitress named Nicole. She was very attentive and took great care of us. We had the fig and burrata for a starter which was great. For dinner my wife and I shared the Black Cod, Octopus and pistachio flatbread. All very very good. Only thing I would change and reason for 4x instead of 5x star is that Turkish Coffee Ice Cream. I don't know what that is, but it needs to go. Absolutely delicious!! We will definitely order again and can't wait to dine in once it's safe to do so. It looks so cute on the inside! We purchased the community card and got the brick chicken deal from The Foxtail. The salad, dinner rolls, potatoes and chicken were all flavorful and fresh - it will easily feed our family of 3 twice and my husband practically eats for two. The added bottle of wine is a total bonus and they also threw in some cute company swag, a hand written note and a roll of toilet paper! We were cracking up! The staff was super nice at pickup too! I was in the area for work and stopped in for a casual lunch. It wasn't too busy around 1:30 and we were seated instantly. The decor inside is super cute and they had a pretty diverse menu that wasn't strictly mediterranean. I ordered the gyro sandwich, which was delicious and HUGE! Came with a big side of fries too. They also had a great drink menu, including mocktails. Service was good as well. Overall, was so pleasantly surprised and would definitely come back next time i'm in the area! read more

The interior and bar are very sleek and cool looking. Our waiter was friendly and mostly attentive. He did not know much about their spirits but he was happy to find out. The hamachi crudo and grilled halloumi are nice and light appetizers. I particularly liked the freshness of the hamachi and the addition of a little jalapeño to the dish. The halloumi should have had larger cheese pieces but I was relieved to find out the cucumber slices that come with it are not overpowering. I am happy for this chef and glad to see a place like this in Downers Grove. We will be back! read more

The food, service, and ambiance are fantastic. This is a must try if you are looking for fantastic Mediterranean style food, great drinks, and a beautiful atmosphere. The staff is also extremely nice and attentive. The reason why it is not rated higher is the borderline illegal loud level of their music. The music is fun and upbeat however so loud you can not have a conversation with the person next to you. It is not even club level loud, it's as if you turned up the largest speakers at a rock concert and put your ear on the speaker loud. My ears were literally ringing and I had to leave based on the music level giving me a migraine headache. I truly have no concept what the owners are looking to accomplish with the music being that loud. It is irresponsible, unreasonable, unnecessary, and unfortunate. I would never recommend anyone go here to have a nice dinner because of that alone. read more
