Great location, questionable stay. The biggest selling point here is definitely the location. You're right by the beach, on Ocean Drive, and within walking distance to plenty of restaurants, bars, and even drugstores. If all you care about is being in the middle of the action, it does that well. But that same location is also a huge downside. The hotel sits next to a loud restaurant/bar/hookah lounge, and between that and the nonstop noise from cars and motorcycles on the street, it was far from relaxing. We booked the larger suite on the 3rd floor, and while it was spacious, it felt worn out and poorly maintained. It had a full-size fridge, large microwave, separate living room, walk-in closet, and a small balcony that was nice for people watching. But then you start noticing the details: the safe was literally held together with duct tape, the remote cover was broken, and the living room TV needed a mini troubleshooting session just to work. That pretty much summed up the stay. The bathroom was where things really went downhill. Size-wise it was fine, but the floors, walls, and shower walls looked dirty, and some areas honestly looked moldy. That is not something you want to question when staying at a hotel. The rooftop pool was a nice idea, but even that felt half-baked since the elevator wouldn't properly come to the top floor when called from the roof. We had to walk down a floor just to catch it. WiFi was also a mess. It was spotty the entire 4 days, and by the last night it barely worked at all unless I stepped outside the room or went down to the lobby. Overall, this place feels like you're paying for location and overlooking everything else. Dated would be one thing, but dirty and poorly maintained is another. I wouldn't stay here again unless location was the only thing that mattered. read more

First off , let me start off by saying the outside of the hotel is very appealing. I was in room 106 on the first floor, it included a table & chairs outside on the baloney which I was very excited about. The room was very charming, zero sink space in the bathroom claimed they supplied a hair dryer so I didn't bring one no blow-dryer in my room. Bed was very comfy. The chair with the desk needs to be replaced, completely ruined. Here's my issue with the place, The music from the restaurant next store is absolutely a deal breaker. It's incredibly loud every night. When I checked in around 8:30 at night I made a comment about how loud it was he said it would end by 10... It went to 2-3 am every night along with the loud patrons at the restaurant. My first night there I had 2 men use my table and chairs in front of my room drinking , having a great time until 3 am. I tried to call the desk to have them removed as I was staying alone and no one answered. Many random people wander up there through out the day. I even experienced a woman try and open my door in the afternoon. I was sitting right there , the windows are tinted so she couldn't see me. The next night I brought the chairs into my room so no one could sit there, They brought chairs from somewhere and the same thing happened. This is the perfect little hotel for a little getaway. We stayed for 1 night in the standard studio. It's a perfect little room, equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, little sofa, small coffee maker, iron and ironing board. It's renovated, so it's nice and clean. The location is prime. It's directly across from the beach and right on the strip on Ocean Dr. There's a Walgreens and CVS within walking distance. Check in was so easy and smooth. They even let us check in early which was so nice. Our room was right by the restaurant, so you can hear the music, but it's Miami and by the time we went to bed everything was closed down. I did wake up to the music the next morning at the restaurant but it was nice piano music. The rooms AC worked amazing (it did drip a tiny bit because of how hot it was outside versus how cold it was in the room, but nothing crazy.) They do give you beach towels (not new or anything but just perfect for the beach). Overall, I would stay here again. The price was good, especially for the location. The view from the pool on top is beautiful and there was hardly anyone up there using it. It's an older hotel, but is quirky and nice and the staff were all super friendly. read more

July 17, 2021 - I've reviewed the Fritz before. We ate at a restaurant in front of The Fritz. I'm assuming it's owned by Fritz Hotel, but probably don't have the name of the Hotel. So I cant' give you the name of the restaurant. Look at my added photo's to see my review. FYI, Ocean Drive currently is closed off to cars. Pedestrians can walk in the street freely. With the good comes bad. The suite is roomy. Large refrigerator. Plenty of shelves and drawers. The freezer door is odd.. It hits the wall. That makes it impossible to use freezer. I wanted to freeze my water for beach but could not get my arm in door. Bathroom is outside the bedroom. Bathroom fan is soooo loud. There are plenty of shelves by sink but none in shower. Also the shampoo , conditioner and body lotion were all used and sticky. Not sealed. Definitely not new. We bought some at the Walgreens, along with bar soap and dishwashing soap. The location is great! The bad is you wouldn't know that from the view of nasty building next door. See pic. The couch had sand all over it. It was not cleaned at all. The kitchen was very clean. They even had plates and cups for use. Bedroom, closets and bathroom were clean as well. Closets are huge but you only get 2 hangers. I saw that mentioned in other reviews so I actually packed hangers lol The pool is small but the rooftop view is fantastic. Its quiet. No music. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were fabulous. Nearby: South Beach Cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Walgreens and CVS for all your needs. Liquor store. Here's the deal..they do care. They will have the couch vacuumed. It's almost like Miami doesn't want you to eat breakfast. It's like the town is saying "If you want breakfast you're not doing it right". I didn't party hard enough, didn't wear a thong bikini with the see-through mesh pants over them and party till 4 am. OK I admit it but it was 10:30 am and I did order two breakfast to-go from 'The Fritz' an Ocean Drive, nearly empty, tables facing the water South Beach eatery. The ordering part went smoothly. The paying part went smoothly and that's where the trouble began. I fear boring my reader with the tedium that I entered for the 30 odd minutes it took for my order to arrive. A 'Black Lives Matter' protest went by, sadly with only seven people and only one of them Black. People came came and started drinking those huge drinks that are the size of an adult head. It seems like other things happened too strange for my middle age brain to comprehend but sadly my food didn't arrive. When it finally did and my friend and I opened our plastic to-go containers it was to find bread not toast and no utensils. While eating my eggs by hand I continued to ponder the mystery that is South Beach Miami. By the way, if you go to 'The Fritz' be prepared to wait 30 minutes or just learn to party like a South Beacher and don't wake up until it's time for lunch. read more

Ate at the Fritz Cafe and it was delicious. We ate during Happy Hour and they had a menu with calamari, shrimp, and other items priced from $3 - $5. Great food and a great price. The 2 things that I didn't like was that there wasn't refills on the soda and in the bill they automatically charge you a service fee for your order. I'm guessing that it's a gratuity fee or something, but I'm not cool with that because I should be the one to decide what the waiter's tip is going to be and they shouldn't just assume that it's going to be a certain percent of the bill. read more

It's kind of strange that a lot of hotels on Ocean Drive are rated around 2 stars. You'd think there would be better options for such prime vacation real estate. I wasn't looking to spend over $250 for a random Wednesday, but I didn't want bed bugs either (happened a few years back). All I was looking for was a decent place to crash after a jillion mojitos and the answer was The Fritz Hotel. My wife and I took a redeye flight and got there around 7:30am. The front desk person was super accommodating and kindly checked us into our room while waiving the $50 early check-in fee. He then informed us that our room was right behind him. LITERALLY right behind the front desk!! The room was decent enough but after a couple of hours, we found it was impossible to get a nap in. Any conversation happening in the lobby was clearly heard in bed. I did get to brush up on my Spanish comprehension though. Avoid staying on the first floor if you can. I made it clear to the front desk that I did appreciate them taking care of us so early and then asked for a room change. They had a room on the 5th floor, but the elevator was broken. I honestly would have said yes to the 50th floor. The next room was much nicer with a separate living area and full kitchen. The rooftop pool and deck looked alright but the weather wasn't cooperating. $125 plus the $12 resort fee for wifi and other amenities like..ummm..yeah..so..wifi, made this OK value for 5th and Ocean. The Delano it was definitely not, but it was bang for buck. This is a much better option than staying at Colony or Starlite for sure. I'd have no qualms coming back. read more

Location may be not be ideal but there are a lot of great things about this hotel! I was a but nervous about having booked the studio but it is actually more spacious than many of the rooms I've seen or stayed at on Ocean. The room is ideal for 3 people. Sofa bed is hard but the front desk provided additional bedding (not a problem if you don't use the room much). Front desk is friendly and accommodating (proving additional towels/ beach towels) Rooftop pool. Size is perfect, again most hotels on ocean don't have pools. Cab ride from 4th to 11th/12th street about $5 Maid not available 24/7, let them clean when they come. Very modern. Wood floors. It appears to have been recently redone. Overall... Great place for a bachelor party. I had 13 people. They fit just fine in two 2-bed suites and one 1-bed suite. They weren't on the same floor, but the hotel is small so that the rooms are always near each other. The location is great. Close to liquor stores and CVS. The balconies are a great addition to the rooms. The fridges came with a bag of ice ready in the freezer The front desk communicated well with me in regards to accommodations and prices. The only negatives I had were: 1) the music outside is loud during the day 2) not every suite has a stove (even though the room descriptions say they would) 3) If you are booking with a 3rd-party (booking.com), double-check your prices and room confirmations I hope to come back. read more

I stay in hotels pretty often so I feel like I have a good footing when it comes to hotels and prices. The Fritz is not a 5-star hotel, but it is extremely conveniently located on Ocean Drive next to all the action and right across the beach. At first when you walk into the main lobby, it seems like this will be a weird hotel that won't have the nicest rooms, etc. I definitely had that feeling but I was honestly wrong. When I walked into my room (105) it was an awesomely decorated studio room with high ceilings, marble floors, a big comfortable bed, couch, lots of room to walk around in and had a sweet bathroom/shower. I added photos so you can see what it looks like. It was super clean and the guy at the front desk helped me check-in early so I wouldn't be stuck without a room for the early part of the day. I heard there was an awesome pool/view from the top floor but I didn't get a chance to go up there. Overall, for the price this is an awesome hotel and if I am looking for an affordable place, good location and awesome room I would stay here again. If you don't like the noise from outside, try not to stay on the first floor - but hey, you're in Miami and on Ocean Drive, you can't expect nothing less! Had a great time! read more

After searching South Beach hotels for a reasonably priced room, I got lucky when a cancellation allowed me to book a last minute reservation for a studio suite at The Fritz Hotel. The room was simple, clean, and modern. It looked just like the pictures online. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival, especially after reading horror stories of bed bugs and roaches and other creepy crawlers found at other hotels in SoBe. [I find it so strange that many of the hotels on and off the strip are so subpar given the destination]. The location was great- right b/w 5th & 6th on Ocean Drive directly across from the beach! Fabulous views from the rooftop deck and pool area. We got a parking spot the first night right across the street from the hotel. (Parking in the area is free from 3am-9am so that worked out great). Fernando at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. Only issue was the remotes in the room were weird- couldn't turn the volume up or down with the remote. And the tv in the bedroom area was a bit small. Other than that, it was a great stay! I would definitely stay here again! read more

I would stay here again. It was clean, the staff was friendly and very accommodating, and the hotel's got a rooftop pool and lounge area that no one ever seems to use. You're also right across from the beach and bike rentals. The one thing they don't tell you when you book is that there's no parking lot. You either pay $30 a day for a valet to take your car God-knows-where, or you pay the hotel $20 a day to park in a secure garage two streets behind the hotel on Collins Court. I chose the garage and my car stayed cool in the shade while we roamed SoBe. There's also a $12 buck a day "resort fee" So be prepared to spend another $35 bucks a day in taxes/fees/etc when you book your room at this hotel. If it's any consolation, however, these fees are cheaper than many of the other resorts on Ocean Dr. read more

We made our annual trek to SoBe for the SoBeWFF, this was our 10th time to the fest and probably our 50th time overall to this playground of sun and fun. I would have to say the Fritz is one of if not THE best place we have stayed factoring in the location, room, pool and amenities. Location just North of 5th street right on Ocean was awesome, right in the heart of SoBe but just out of the total chaos a few blocks North. Our room, not facing the street, but with a view out the side balcony, was large, clean, updated, had a separate living area with kitchen, cable Tv in both rooms with full cable access. There is also a rooftop pool with city and beach views that were awesome. There are only around 24 rooms in this small hotel so it was no surprise that the times we enjoyed the pool, it was our own private oasis. Manuel, the manager at the front desk handled our checkin and out perfectly as well as any questions, additional services and beach towels. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to enhance any trip to SoBe read more

I was so excited to come here. When I booked it, it said I had a balcony, ocean view, minibar. The pictures were AMAZING. I get here and... the balcony is the level to enter the hotel. My room was 106, the first room people see when coming up to the hotel. My entire stay people were trying to open my door because they thought it was the office. There is no minibar, and when I asked he replied "we haven't had a minibar in a long time and even then it wasn't alcohol" I'm sorry, then what's a miniBAR? Also, they charged an unexplained fee ($81) AND a $150 deposit. So my $467 room cost me $731, no minibar no private balcony and annoying guests tugging at my door the entire time. Maybe the other rooms are better, but mine was not worth what I paid. Next time I come down I will be across the street and with a real balcony. Also, only one light in my room worked, they only gave me 2 rolls of toilet paper to last me a week, there was blood all over the curtain, and the headboard looks like a cat was clawing at it. So. The worst. I saw the bad reviews but I gave this place a chance. I ordered the surf and turf, bad idea. It was okay, nothing special. It gave me my first case of food poisoning I've ever had. It hit me so quick and as soon as their food was out of my system I felt fine. I went back to speak to the manager. She was so rude. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to happen to anyone else. She wouldn't hear it. Hence the bad review. I also reported them to the health department. I've never had any food give me food poisoning and then such a rapid onset of symptoms. Horrible food. Horrible customer service. I would not recommend. read more

Had a great stay here, rooms where nice and clean. All the furniture was updated and nice. Flat screen tv's in the rooms, the people in the front desk were great. They were very nice and helpful. Love this hotel. Great location! Across the street from south beach and on top of miami ' s best restaurants. We rented a one bedroom suit with a sofa bed. Perfect for our little family. There is a kitchenette, but it's not stocked well lacking sufficient dishes, no toaster, no oven which forced us to eat out for most meals. However many of the restaurants gave us 15-20% discount for being a fritz client, but you have to ask for it many times! Room service came daily. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Any issues we had with the room were resolved with a day. Only complaint is, under the bed was full of dust bunnies (probably six months worth) and it appeared as though the walls and baseboards required a through cleaning. We used the $30 a day valet parking which was very good. However about a 10 minute walk down ocean drive you can park yourself for $10 a day. The hotel did mention we could find cheaper parking, but our hands were full and valet was convenient. Also the hotel is pet friendly! !! Overall, we would definitely stay here again. I don't know where the 5 star ratings are coming from, but this place was terrible. We were booked into room 504 and it was disgusting. Mold growing, filthy bathroom, tiles coming off the walls, crumbling walls, more mold, the mattress was so worn it sagged all over. The room was literally the worst I have seen in at least 20-25 years, and the only one worse was a motel forced to stay in because of car trouble! We would have stayed anywhere else if there had been an option, but the Miami boat show was in town and literally every place was booked. The website shows nice clean rooms in the pictures, but that is NOT what you will find here. The place smells, and the entrance to the hotel smells of raw sewage. We talked to the front desk about things, but they didn't care and they refused to work with us on anything. I usually don't post bad reviews, but this one I feel compelled to write. This place has rotten rooms, rotten service. Filthy rotten, at that. Stay Away!!! read more

I was staying at the Fritz hotel and had dinner at the restaurant. I have been in south beach for two weeks and have eaten at every restaurant on ocean drive. They have the worst customer service at this restaurant and harass you to come in, but ignore you when you have a complaint and tax on the discount they promise you in gratuity. The seafood taste like it was boiled in mop water and it gets worse, a roach was included in our meal. Horrible restaurant, do yourself a favor and stay away . They ignore your complaints and demand that you pay for untouched food/drinks. Beware the con artist at The fritz esp the manager, Jose, the biggest scammer of them all. read more

I DID NOT STAY AT THE HOTEL. I ate at the street side cafe that the hotel offers. I saw the sign for $5 nachos $2 tacos and 2 for 1 drink special and was pretty much sold. (Even before the lady approached my friends and I about dining there.) we watched two tables leave the restaurant disappointed before we even ordered. We should've left then. We were seated n placed our order. The waitress barely spoke English so after waiting too long for a taco we finally got our food n it was incorrect. The $2 dollar tacos only came with the meat lettuce and a tortilla (understandably so it was $2) we decided to order sour cream, salsa and guacamole the waitress informed us it would be $2 each for a very small cup of those items. The taco chicken was hard and dry and the tortilla was also hard and dry. We were so disappointed we didn't indulge in the hookah or 2 for 1 drinks. Awesome hotel! Super clean and very well priced too. The service was amazing as well. The only thing is that the rooms aren't cleaned during your stay because of COVID, but you can always request more towels/toiletries etc. It's probably the closest hotel you can get to the beach.
