Stopped in for my best friends birthday when we took a day trip to Mt Dora. Our waitress Victoria was amazing and she was very attentive and polite. I ordered the lamb burger and my friend ordered the mushroom Swiss burger. I was disappointed that I was not able to swap out the gouda cheese for goat cheese, I guess the goat cheese is reserved for only one specific burger. I was also disappointed that both of are burgers where closer to well done than the medium we ordered. Had our burgers been cooked to the proper temperature they would have been amazing! This place has really improved since the new Management took over. I remember last year coming downstairs to watch a football game and at 2 pm a bartender started waiving their hands around shouting "WE ARE CLOSED" odd, but then a few weeks later with friends at 3 pm watching a game on Sunday same thing happened "WE ARE CLOSED" . The food is the same. Fries are good much better than the way overpriced ones down the street at The Salted Fry and they dont cost $9. The French Onion Soup is great and the service is excellent. Deserves NO stars, DO NOT RECOMMEND Stopped in on a Friday around 1pm April 2022 and it was not busy. There were three of us and we each ordered a burger & fries. After 1 hour, I witnessed 2-3 other tables get seated and served drinks, appetizers. I asked our waitress if we could order appetizers because I didn't realize how long it would take to get our food. I was not upset at this point but when she said our food would come before the appetizers, I asked how much longer and she did not have an answer. So I asked for crackers or chips or popcorn to hold us over she brought us 5 saltine crackers and then walked away. After another 20 minutes I saw all the other tables that sat after us being served their entrees. Our waitress had not given us an update nor apologized for any delays so I asked to see a manager. They stated no managers working that day. The bartender was sent over and told us basically to keep waiting as "dining out isn't what it used to be" and was non apologetic nor could give us a reason why it had been 90 minutes and still no food. I stated that maybe "our tickets got mixed up by our waitress?" And she said "yes maybe so." And walked away. Our burgers were delivered 15minutes after that and then the check came and needless to say not even a 10% discount or comped glass of wine or beer for our 100 minute delay while we watched everyone else in the restaurant get served/eating. Definitely disappointed, I visit Mount Dora each month and I'll never eat here again and advise all who ask me where to go to definitely steer clear of this place. Worst service ever. read more

We sat at the bar; and, first ordered beers (I had a maple, blueberry stout); then, my two friends decided to split a burger; and, I ordered the Onion Rings. The serving size was substantial, justifying the price. The rings were very similar to the ones I had in New England... lightly breaded, thinly sliced; and, fried to a crisp... And, just plain good tasting! The waitresses were very friendly, taking photos of the daily special and posting them on social media. The bar was cool, nicely appointed; and, we made a game of finding various frogs and monkeys throughout. The bathrooms are out in the hallway; but, were well-maintained and clean. I only took exception to the servers eating and drinking at the bar while working. Being raised in food service, I've always been instructed to keep the personal consumption out of sight of patrons; or, to take a seat at a table while on break. read more

Starting out with the hostess station, the service was pretty terrible. We waited without recognition for quite a while before being seated finally. Inside, it's a very strange mix of Decor. It's like cluttered home meets Pub. Some of it was really cool, some of it was really strange. As for the food, I did try the cottage pie. This was actually very good, and I'm glad I ordered it. I would actually order it again. The table service was very good as well, a stark contrast to that at the hostess station. Overall, I'm inclined to give this a slightly better review because the table service was so good and the food was good. I'm going to assume the hostess station was a one-off for the night. Nope.It was fine.I wedged myself against the wall,now I have ringside view of the whole bar and the singer.It was quite nesty and comfy just for me. The waitress was very pleasant and got my food and drink order fairly quickly.Then came the wait.I wasn't in any kind of rush so it was actually nice for me to be able to just hang out in my nest and enjoy the singer(who was REALLY good!) and people watch. I didn't know if the singer would take requests,but his voice was so clear and all I could think was "Heros" by David Bowie. An all time fave song of mine and I knew this guy could do it really well. I tipped him a 5. and asked if he could do it.He said he'd try. Well,he did an amazing rendition for me.Made my evening. By then my food had finally arrrived and it was very much worth the wait. I had the Black and Bleu Burger which was phenomenal. I am slowly accumiliating places to be able to bring visitors and this place definitely makes the list of Go To's. I've eaten here many time, with friends and family. It used to be very good. Four of us went there during the week. I always order the Cottage Pie (shepherds pie) and it's always been very good. Now it's a much smaller portion, which I understand. The price is also higher which I wouldn't mind but the ground beef on the bottom of this must have been cooked days ago and stored. It was so browned and so dry, it was terrible. I don't think I will be going back and that's a shame. read more
