I'm honestly so happy that I live 3 miles away from this amazing place. I wasn't really expecting much since it looks like a little store thats part of the gas station but I've been here twice and have not been disappointed!! The BBQ is located inside the market. First, you order from the menu or you could call for pick up, after you order they give you a receipt and pay in the center of the store, you could also grab some snacks, drinks, and other necessities like fruit and nuts from the Fruit Yard! My first time there I ordered the trip tip sandwich...which tasted so good! The second time I ordered the 1lb whole tri-tip which was $16...honestly it was such a great deal especially for the amount and the quality of the meat! My bf and I love how tender it is, plus the BBQ sauce is tasty and you could get it on the side! The customer service is on point too, the wait is never long and the service is quite fast! Although the food is pretty decent, there have been a number of times, when paying for the seafood buffet, that staff would "warn" that it's "pricey" or staff would say, "are you sure you want the seafood buffet?" There needs to be some training done among the staff members on overall customer service and how to interact with people. Since the seafood buffet only occurs certain times a month, and a customer says they are there for that particular event, then it's safe to say that the customer did the math ahead of time. Sure, there are outliers but most of the time if someone says they want it and the card is approved, then there should not be any questioning or comments made. As a customer, the questions or comments from staff members either comes off as a warning that the food is tainted or discrimination /stereotyping is occurring. read more

We had Thanksgiving dinner last year. It was wonderful! The food the service,we were so happy to, we returned again this year. The service was fine but the food wasn't the same. it felt as if we were getting turkey left overs. And the desert was small portions of pastries. The price was high for what was offered . This was our second time here for their Sunday Buffet Brunch. They have quite a selection. Plenty of things to choose from including, Alaskan Crab (Plain and Marinated), Shrimp, Prime Rib, Ham, Omelette Bar and plenty more. I would recommend it. My only word of caution is that normally it is $26 a person (Does not include Champagne- can be bought by the carafe). Today because it was Mother's Day the cost ended up being $55 a person. I've been a steady patron of this establishment for many years. The food is American, with different specials listed daily. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. They have a pretty great salad bar that has over 20 add-ons and a variety of toppings and dressings. They are always accommodating and offer substitutions to regular menu offerings if you are wanting low calorie, vegetarian, less spicy, etc. The atmosphere is casual but you can have private gatherings on site that are catered and elegant. This includes an outside patio area and separate on-site duck pond park for private affairs. They now have a large outdoor arena for concerts and an ice skating rink is in the works. First time to the Fruit Yard restaurant and I am smitten. One of the largest Cobb Salads I've yet to see is what I ordered and nearly ate. Was here last night with a big group for dinner and was wondering how both the kitchen and our single server was going to manage the situation of having so many people to take orders from and deliver the beverages etc. Our server along with the kitchen did an amazing job at perfectly timing the deliveries of meals and beverages including the after dinner coffees and desserts such as their Apple pie Alamode. The atmosphere inside this country setting restaurant which also sells fresh produce is romantic too. Its good for family dining as well. They have a senior menu where the menu selections are priced at $9.99 each. My huge freshly prepared Cobb Salad had the most delicious blue cheese crumble in it and the most generous side serving of blue cheese dressing and ranch dressing. Two prime rib plates were made , one medium rare and the other an end cut. End cut was dry and extremely tasteless. I mean salt and pepper go a long way. The medium cut was actually well done no pink at all. Even the side veggies were raw. Idk what's going on in the kitchen but they're damn lucky these blind folks keep coming in to eat their food. Went to the Easter Brunch this afternoon and was impressed with how they did their buffet. All the salads and desserts are individually wrapped and the buffet has plexiglass shield and a server to give you the food. No one was touching anything. Every irrigation my family and I like to have breakfast at The Fruit Yard. It's a great place for classic meals done right, and a friendly staff that remembers your name and favorite dishes. A friend was excited for our group to try this place because of the all you can eat buffet that included crab. Food was decent but I wish they had food nets to cover food such as the salad bar and fruits. Had to ask for fruit from the kitchen due to flies finding their way on the uncovered fruit. Also the salad bar needed to be more accommodating: it was hard to place food on plate without the food touching the table roof. Staff was very welcoming. I was extremely impressed with my first experience at The Fruit Yard, especially because I made two different visits here in one day, in very different capacities. My mom and aunt planned to host my grandparents' 50th anniversary party here yesterday, Saturday. The staff were very helpful in determining how many people could be accommodated in their hall, in providing dinner options for the evening's meal, etc. But before we showed up for the party in the evening, my dad, brother, boyfriend and I decided to have lunch here in the restaurant while my mom and aunt finished up final preparations for the party elsewhere. For lunch I ordered the beef ravioli in a meat sauce while the guys ordered three different sandwiches; I know my boyfriend ordered the roast beef au jus, but I'm not positive which ones my dad and brother ordered (I think my bro got the BLT). My meal had the option of either heading to the salad bar or choosing the soup of the day, beef noodle vegetable. I chose the soup, which was incredibly delicious, with big penne noodles, shredded beef, a ton of veggies, and served with both a white and dark dinner roll with whipped butter on the side. My ravioli was tasty, served with a side of fresh veggies (green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, and squash) and two pieces of garlic bread. My only complaint was that the sauce was on the sweet side, which isn't my favorite, but the portions were generous and the food overall was very good. I love me some ravioli. The sandwiches were all really big and had a ton of fresh, quality meat, while the french fries that came with them were awesome. They're sort of like home fries, seasoned and super crispy on the outside, almost creamy on the inside. My brother and I ordered pie for dessert (I figured since we were eating at The Fruit Yard their fruit pie was worth trying), a slice of boysenberry for me and apple for him, and we had our slices warmed. While I didn't try the apple, the boysenberry was really delicious, not to mention the slice was really big and the filling was gooey and warm. The crust was nice and flaky and buttery. While the meal was a hit, our waitress, though efficient and polite, was really frosty. She seemed a little more chipper with the couple she seated behind us, but with us she was humorless, never replied when thanked, and somewhat curt. When we came back in the evening for our private party in the banquet hall, I was impressed again (and a lot more so with the wait staff). The Fruit Yard worked hard to get the tables set up with the color theme my aunt and mom set up, along with the food buffet style, and they provided a giant sheet cake as well. On the menu was salad, pasta salad, fresh fruit, grilled chicken, tri tip, potatoes, fresh veggies, and dinner rolls. Everything was really delicious, though I was a bit disappointed that the chicken was kind of dry, though had good flavor. The tri tip was juicy and cooked to perfection. The two waiters were constantly about refilling drinks, taking plates, and in general being very attentive and friendly to the guests. They had everything cleaned and in order very quickly at the end of the night, but didn't at all make us feel rushed out. While the hall is a small venue meant for more intimate parties (I believe the maximum occupancy was somewhere around 60 and there's no dancefloor), it was an accommodating spot and perfect for our needs. The bar is conveniently right outside of the hall's doors, in case a party wanted to have an open bar, or if guests wanted to step outside and have a drink. Finally, just outside of the hall is a beautiful park with ponds, fountains, maintained grounds, and a legion of ducks and geese meandering about, not to mention a handful of roosters. It was a nice place to walk around and get some quiet and fresh air away from the party (although it was nice and air conditioned inside and hell of hot and humid outside). Overall, a great restaurant for lunch and a great venue for an anniversary party or any other event you'd like to host. I'd be happy to return for another meal. read more

My feelings for this place have grown over time. They are one of my favorite delivery restaurants when I am in Modesto, despite how far on the outskirts they are, but I did not realize they sold pies until more recently, and now I wish I could give them more than five stars. The menu is almost exactly what my grandparents would put on a menu if they started their own restaurant: old-fashioned dishes you usually only find in old greasy-spoon diners. But they have successfully turned that into a solid selling point. They create these dishes with more care and attention to detail than a greasy-spoon diner line-cook ever would. They are chefs. Absolutely perfect combinations of flavors and textures implemented masterfully to create a memorable dish you would be hard-pressed to find on a more modern menu. Between the quality and the sentimental dishes, this is a unique treasure of a restaurant. The steak-based dishes have all been excellent. The sides are all delicious. The bread pudding is well above average. Everything tastes like a fine-tuned recipe created with rigorous attention to detail. The pies, though... whoever makes those pies deserves some serious accolades. There have been at least four occasions where I was having a mediocre day, ordered a pie, and enjoyed it so much that I was in a great mood for the entire rest of the day. Sometimes two days. I would not be surprised if these pies were proven to cure depression in a medical study. Beyond outstanding and into the realm of award-winning. The crust tastes like an authentic home-made recipe skillfully executed without cutting any corners or trying anything weird; the fillings are perfectly balanced with the ideal flavor, texture, and appearance. Just stellar pies across the board. The strawberry (when in season) and banana pies are my favorites, but the apricot, coconut cream, peach, and boysenberry sour cream are all some of the best I have ever had. Yesterday I took my son, and daughter -in- law , to a much anticipated lunch. I ordered the prime rib sandwich . I was very disappointed to find,literally, a piece of fat between the slices of the roll. At first I tried picking little pieces of meat out but I decided it was ridiculous. I called the waitress over and explained the situation. She looked at the sandwich and agreed, took it back to the kitchen. The manager came to our table with an angry look on his face and said,"what do you want me to do about this?" I was a little surprised at his attitude, because it was obvious what I wanted him to do, Replace the piece of prime rib on the sandwich. He took my plate with the same cold attitude. I did get a small piece of prime rib but I didn't eat it because I was afraid he may have spit on it. Please don't go there. Me and my wife made reservations for 2 for seafood buffet When we got there we were told there is no table for us. And we would have to sit in a restaurant side and walk with our food tru the whole building. We didn't really mind that but when we went to get the food it was the whole different story. It was gross and not looking good. And everything was almost empty. And prime rib was so dry and over cooked. I wish I never went there. And the staff looked like they hate their job. I like the ambiance, but the food is VERY plain. It's actually not as good as you'd expect, BUT the staff is a delight. I ordered French toast with sausage and eggs, a side of biscuits and gravy and a bowl of fruit. The French toast was really "eggy" if that makes sense. The fruit was AMAZING! Super sweet, and the biscuits were the best part of the actual breakfast meal. They do not have a variety in coffee or creamer. I live in Turlock and the Fruit Yard Restaurant is well worth the Drive, I like to go when I'm on my way to Riverbank to the Gallery Theater, I've been going to the Fruit Yard for more than 20 years and it never disappoints me, service is always great, the food is excellent, menu is extensive and they have specials on certain days that are amazing. Always a go to place that's out in the Country but we'll worth the drive, check this place or go again, you'll be a happy camper and don't miss the Fruit Stand and the Togo BBQ out at the Fruit Stand! read more
